Need Speaker on HTML DB

I am the VP of Development Technologies for the NEOOUG ( Northeast Ohio Oracle User Group) based in Cleveland, Ohio. www.neooug.org
I am seeking a speaker to present on the topic of HTML DB for 2-4 hours. Content to include detailed discussion of how HTML DB works and demos of how to build apps in HTML DB. The following dates are possible:Sept 17, 2004 or Nov 19,2004. Both of these days are Friday and the time would be 1:00-4:00 PM EST. Our venue holds approx 50 people and provides projectors. NEOOUG will pay travel expenses and a fee to selected speaker if not employed by Oracle Corporation. Contact me via email at [email protected] if you are interested or know anyone who may be qualified.

Your presentation/demonstration was great. Based on this presentation we are in the process of installing HTML DB to address a lot of single-user MS Access databases that populate our user community.
Thanks Joel!!

  • Need Help with HTML Batch Processing

    Hi,
    New to this forum so be kind
    I am trying to work out a way to batch process html's.
    The html template is used in our eBay listings.
    All the information I want to change is the same.
    Eg in my template I have the number "0234" it appears for 6 times, sometimes in the text sometimes in part of the image title I am loading.
    I then have an excel sheet listing all my codes that i need to make htmls for - 0234, 0235, 0236 etc etc...
    I use say 10 templates depending on what number im doing.
    So next cell to the codes (in excel) I list what template I would need.
    Now I know in dreamweaver I can search for "0234" in my html & replace to create my new html. But I have 1000's to do, and I am sure I am doing it a long way manually.
    Is it possible to use the excel sheet and dreamweaver together to process all these changes in a scripted batch system? and even load which html to use?
    Or maybe use a different software?
    Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards

    The closest to this I have done was in using Photoshop and text files to create hundreds of photoshop designed banners that all had different copy/type on them but based on a template and, the same idea but with pharmacy magnets using InDesign and Excel.
    The idea is that you put text boxes in the document and specify a variable for them and then equate those boxes either to variables in a text file or to column headers in an Excel file.
    Google on "Data Merging" and perhaps you'll find something.
    I'm not aware of a way to do this with html documents but if you approach the html as just a text file, then conceptually, you should be able to create a template whereby you assign a variable to certain divs or input boxes or whatever. Then, you might have to re-process the entire lot to remove the code needed to distinguish a field as dynamic but that would easier to remove.
    I'll watch this post as well because massive replacements are always something to know about!

  • Help needed with creating HTML email in Dreamweaver

    Hi everyone, would really appreciate some help with a dilemma or two that I have.
    I have created the following newsletter in Dreamweaver and uploaded it to our website:
    http://www.nova-design.co.uk/sales/000030.html
    Now, when I go into my email mass mailing client (Handymailer) and send a test out, I encounter a couple of problems.
    Firstly, in Outlook when I receive the email, the grey table on the right of the eshot, is crushed and a lot of the single line text is forced to go over two lines...
    Secondly, in Hotmail, the table displays fine, but it does say that "This message is too wide to fit your screen.  Show full message."
    Once I click "Show full message" it displays in full, but I then need to scroll across to the middle of the browser to view the email.
    If I left align the newsletter will this problem be solved?  Or is there a way in Dreamweaver that I can edit the entire page size so that it's not too wide?
    The table is 600px wide so I assumed that any email sent out would shrink to this size.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!  This is the first full HTML email I have sent out so it's going to be far from perfect!

    I created a transparent GIF and placed it, but that moves my text down because the image is in the way?  Am I doing that right?
    Make the transparent gif 1px high.
    Is it the links in the right column that go onto two lines? If so that could be because the links are wider than the actual column itself..so you will have to make column wider.
    If you can't sort it, have  a look at the code below, copy and paste into a new Dreamweaver document and test out. Inline css styling is used in the code below. I've masked your email so no spam bots get hold of it.

  • Need help with  HTML and Swing Components

    Dear All,
    I am using HTML text for Jbutton and Jlabel and MenuItem.
    But when i am trying to disable any of these, its foreground color is not being grayed out.
    For that, I have overrided the setEnable() method as mentioned below:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.MouseEvent;
    import java.awt.event.MouseListener;
    import java.awt.event.WindowAdapter;
    import java.awt.event.WindowEvent;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.plaf.FontUIResource;
    * HtmlLabelEx.java
    public class HtmlLabelEx extends javax.swing.JDialog implements MouseListener{
         * Creates new form HtmlLabelEx
        public HtmlLabelEx(java.awt.Frame parent, boolean modal) {
            super(parent, modal);
            UIManager.put("swing.boldMetal", Boolean.FALSE);
            initComponents();
            setLayout(null);
            this.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter()
                public void windowClosing(WindowEvent event)
                    System.exit(0);
            JLabel jLabel1 = new JLabel()
                public void setEnabled(boolean b)
                  super.setEnabled(b);
                  setForeground(b ? (Color) UIManager.get("Label.foreground") : (Color) UIManager.get("Label.disabledForeground"));
            JButton jButton1 = new JButton()
                public void setEnabled(boolean b)
                  super.setEnabled(b);
                  setForeground(b ? (Color) UIManager.get("Label.foreground") : (Color) UIManager.get("Label.disabledForeground"));
            add(jButton1);
            String str = "<html><body><b>Label</b></body></html>";
            System.out.println("str = "+str);
        jLabel1.setText(str);
        add(jLabel1);
        jLabel1.setBounds(10,10,100,20);
        jLabel1.setEnabled(false);
        jButton1.setText("<html><body><b>Button</b></body></html>");
        jButton1.setEnabled(true);
        jButton1.setBounds(10,50,100,20);
        System.out.println("getText = "+jLabel1.getText());

            pack();
        }// </editor-fold>
         * @param args the command line arguments
        public static void main(String args[]) {
            java.awt.EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    new HtmlLabelEx(new javax.swing.JFrame(), true).setVisible(true);
        // Variables declaration - do not modify
        // End of variables declaration
        public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e)
            if(e.getButton() == e.BUTTON3)
                JMenuItem mit = new JMenuItem("<html><body><b>Menu Item</b></body></html>");
                JPopupMenu pop = new JPopupMenu();
                pop.add(mit);
                mit.setEnabled(false);
                pop.show(this,e.getX(),e.getY());
        public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
        public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent e) {
        public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent e) {
        public void mouseExited(MouseEvent e) {
    But, I think it is difficult to write like this for each component.
    I am looking for an optimized solution so that the change will be only in one place.
    so that, It wont leads to change so many pages or so many places.
    And i have the following assumptions to do this. please let me know the possibility.
    1.Implementing custom UI class, extending the JButton/JMenuItem (As the BasicButton/MenuItemUI class does not have setEnabled() method to override) and putting this in UIManager.put("ButtonUI/MenuItemUI","CustomClass).
    2.If there is any possibility to achieve this, by just overriting any key in the UIManager
    3.By setting any client property globally.
    My requirement is to do this only at one place for entire the application.So, that we need not change all the buttoins, sya some 30 buttions are there in a dialog, then we need to override each button class.
    Please suggest me the possibilties..
    Thank you

    Hi camickr ,
    I know that to set the font we have to use component.setfont().
    But, as per my requirement,i am not setting any font to any component in my application.
    i am just passing HTML text along with FONT tags to all the components in my Application.SO, in this case we will get bold letters and that problem fixed when we set swing.boldMetal = false in UI Manager.
    But actual problem irrespective of font settings is when ever we use HTML rendered text, when the button or menuitem is disabled,then that one will not be changed to gray color. i.e., it still looks like normal controls, even it is disabled.(It is also reported as bug)
    But, as per my knowledge we can fix by overrding setEnabled or paint() methods for each and every component.
    But, if we do like that, for an application that has 200 buttons or MenuItems, it is difficult to follow that approach.
    So, We should find a way to achieve that only in one place like using UIManager or other one as i mentioned in previous posts if possible.
    I hope you understood what my problem is exactly.
    Thank You

  • Noob Needs Help - Importing Html Pages into "My Site"

    Greetings
    I am sure this is a noob question that may have been asked, but I couldn't find it by searching so here goes.
    I jumped right into Dream Weaver, following an online tutorial... and have a decent webpage but I must have skipped some steps or missed something and I would hate to backtrack and do it all over again...
    When I began, I just started working on a HTML page... and now that its done, I want to make it a template etc...
    But I never created a "site" as far as SITE > NEW SITE etc.
    So now that I have, I need to tell DW that "These pages are included... these images are included, all that neat SPRY stuff I have done needs to be "in the site".
    I am looking for a button that says, "Hey dummy, you need to select the pages that are included in your site" but can't find it...
    Any help?
    Thanks, in Advance

  • Do you need to generate HTML table rows from XML in InDesign?

    General issue: you export XML and you get a bunch of content for xml elements that were a table in inDesign. But they don't have any rows, just cell after cell. What will make rows in your output?
    Solution: XSLT; you need to use the @aid:tcols attribute of exported XML to determine the number of columns that your table should be. This is written in XSLT 1.1 so it shoud work with an export from InDesign. If you have problems with using it on export of XML, try using it on the XML afetr it has been exported, in Oxygen or other XSLT processor. Best to save acopy of your files before using the XSLT with them.  Copy all of the plain text and past into a new file, save with your own filename, ending with .xsl file extension. Then when exporting XML from InDesign CS3-5, browse to your new .xsl file and select it. PLEASE read about XSLT files at w3c.schools or other resource if you want to understand what is going on with this file.
    BTW <!-- indicates comments in code -->
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

  • Need to enable html snippet insertion in CS4

    The insert html snippet option is disabled on my insert menu and I need to enable it. Please help. Thanks.

    Hi,
         The website administrator has to enable the permission for inserting HTML snippet, for your role, for the Insert HTML Snippet menu to be enabled. If you are the website administrator, you can follow these steps to enable the Insert HTML snippet menu item:-
    Launch Contribute and select Edit -> Administer Websites, and select your website.
    The Administration dialog for your website will be shown.
    Select a role (for ex, Administrator), and click Edit Role Settings button.
    The Edit Role Settings dialog will be shown.
    In this dialog, select Editing from the left panel, and check the check box for 'Allow HTML Snippet Insertion'.
    For more information, click the following link http://blogs.adobe.com/contribute/2009/06/are_you_a_power_user_try_using.html
    Hope this helps. Cheers.

  • Need to enable HTML snippet in CS5

    I need help enabling the HTML snippet in with my CS5 version of contribute.  Our website was created by a firm that used CS3.  They no longer use this tool or have access to contribute. I am set up as a administrator, but it appears I don't have full administrator rights.  How can I gain these if the orginial administrator no longer has access?   Please HELP!

    1) FTP to your site in the server.
    2) Navigate to the cthub****.csi file under _mm folder
    3) Edit the file and make the value <allow_html_snippet_insertion value='true' />
    This will enable the html snippet option for your site for that particular role.

  • Need to reinstall HTML DB - Am I on the right track????

    I have a problem with my admin password not working. This is on a single user computer with htmldb installed in a local personal Oracle 9 database that I use specifically for development and testing. I don't know why the HTML DB admin password stopped working as it is just a lower case version of the ADMIN name. I can still access the user I created and have been working with that. No one else has access to this computer - so somehow I managed to screw something up.
    My question is - if I drop / wipe out the FLOWS_020000 and FLOWS_FILES users and then reinstall HTML DB, and then recreate my admin and user(s), will this solve my problem??
    Is there anything else I need to do to restore HTML DB?? I assume the HTTP SERVER should still be ok?
    I guess what I really need is confirmation that I am on the right track and not about to totally screw up a partially functional HTML DB install.
    Thanks for your help
    Glenn

    Please ignore the above thread - problem solved. My brainfart. Did 2 installs - kept the handwritten docs for the wrong one. Tracing my way through the install program jarred the memory.
    Thanks for the help Mark

  • Help needed in playing HTML ' object ' videos with formats mov, avi, wmv...

    Hi,
    Here is where I am at this juncture...
    I have a requirement wherein I need to render an HTML text containing an '<object>' tag which embeds a video, for example:-
    <object width="320" height="240"
               data="javascript/media/ABC.wmv"
               type="application/x-mplayer2">
              <param name="url" value="javascript/media/ABC.wmv" />
    </object>
    Now I need to render this video into my Flex Web Application.
    One way to do it, as I see, is somehow extract the 'data' attribute and put it as a 'source' for spark VideoPlayer.
    Is there any better way to do this?
    Also note that, I require to render all video formats (avi, mov, wmv etc.) and not just flv or f4v. Any pointers for this would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Not so "easy share" after all is it?
    Still Capture specs read as follows:

    Still format

    Question: Are these still images jpeg or Kodak's EXIF? or are you using the camera in HD movie mode where iMovie fails to recognize the file format/s?
    If you read the system requirements for this device it clearly states X.3 or higher. However, I'm wondering if this also includes X.5.1 or not .....

  • Newbie: what software do I need to install HTML-DB on linux?

    Hi all
    I'm a complete beginner in HTML-DB and I have the assignment to install HTML-DB on a server in our company.
    I'd like to install it on a Fedora Core 3 RedHat Linux machine; is that ok? I tried to find the compatibility on Metalink but I was completely confused there.
    So what software do I exactly need for HTML-DB? I have found the tutorials on how to prepare linux for HTML-DB, but where do I get the software from? Please post me a link to the products needed, I'd be very thankful.
    Thanks very much and have a great time
    Joshua Muheim from Switzerland

    well, i can see different products now on the download page. i see a standalone version of html-db. can i just download and install this one without any other oracle installation? or does this one need oracle database 10g too?
    i mean this one here:http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/oracle10g/htmldb/htmldb_1.6.0.zip
    if i can not just install it like meant above, do i have to download the files of oracle db 10g...
    ship.db_Disk1.lnxx86-64.cpio.gz
    ship.db_Disk2.lnxx86-64.cpio.gz
    ...install it and then what other files do i have to download and install over the database?
    i'm sorry for these very simple questions, but i'm not familiar to the oracle products because i'm a trainee and got the task to install html db on my own... so i'm happy if you could help me.
    have a nice week

  • Need a simple html theme

    Hello everybody,
    i need a simple just html, no script or flash theme, for doing my photo albums.
    I have some veryyyy important people (gf and brother :)) than can't see those beacouse they do it on the corporate laptop and all the "bad stuff" are disabled.
    Thanks
    Ciprian

    Ciprian:
    You can create the web pages from within iPhoto by using the File->Export->Web menu option. It creates a simple html photo gallery with user control of viewing larger version of the thumbnails. It published to a folder on the desktop, the contents of which can be manually uploaded to your iDisk/Web/Sites folder. You can run it on the desktop first to see if it will suit your needs.
    The URL would be: web.me.com/youraccount_name/name_of_uploadedfolder/index.html. If you have multiple albums you would have to have a separate folder and URL for each.
    It will let you add either title or comments or both to the photos and select the background and text colors. This is an example. It requires no special java or other software. Just a browser.
