Need specs for PC to drive 30-inch monitor to full resolution.

Have acquired an HP LP3065 monitor. Now seek to acquire a PC to drive it to full 2560x1600 res. Old Dell Pentium D computer (XP) with integrated video brings it to 1900. Any power supply, memory,  MB recommendations would be helpful. Standing by is a Nvidia 8800 GTS video card from BFG Tech that a gamer friend pulled from his system.

Hi shrdlu,
To get that resolution it all depends on the specs of your video card. And if you install a new video card with that resolution capability, you'd want to check the specs of the video card to see how much power is required. If the PC you are using doesn't have a strong enough power supply, you'd need to get one that has more power. I'm not familiar with Dell products so I don't know about your power options. Here are the specs for the video card:

  • Need specs for Satellite C50-A-1DV

Been all over, and have had nothing but frustration from trying to use the cumbersome and largely useless Toshiba 'help' services.
If anyone can help, I need specs for the Satellite i3 C50-A-1DV.
I have looked for an hour now and I can find nothing.
In short, I want to buy new memory - upgrading it from 4 to 8gb - but I can find no info beyond
    that it is ddr3.

    Hi
Googling around I found follow information: Your notebook model can be upgraded up to 16GB.
Compatible RAM modules that you can use are as follow:
    2GB DDR3-1600 - PA5037U-1M2G
    4GB DDR3-1600 - PA5037U-1M4G
    8GB DDR3-1600 - PA5037U-1M8G
Using these part numbers you can find full specification but it must be DDR3 1600MHz.
I recommend you to use compatible and high quality RAMs only.

You just need to make sure to get an ata-6 not a serial ata 150. I Picked up a good seagate 100 gig. Here is a link to a nice 120gig http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822146231
for $129.99 but if i were you i would go with this 160gig http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148073
for $179.99 its only $50 more and you get more room

  • HP 15" monitor need specs for screws

Hi! I lost the three screws that attach my 15 monitor (Part number PK656AA) (Model # HP vs 15)  to the base.  Could someone kindly tell me the specs of the screws so I can buy them?
HP parts Dep't can not sell them to me as the screws do not have a part number and tech support could not help. I have been on the phone for over an hour.
FYI<   I took the monitor off the base and removed the screws when I mounted the screen on a wall mount. Now I have taken it off the wall mount and want to place the screen back on the base but I have lost the screws.
    Thank you very much

    HPVS, welcome to the forum.
I suggest going to a local computer repair store.  I will bet that they have the screws that you need or something that will work.

  • What is max size/spec for upgrading hard drive in 2006 mac mini intel core duo 1.66?

I've been through the commuity and on-line retailer pages and I'm confused by the variety of answers here.  I know the max thickness must be 2.5."  But some say 5400 RPM; others say 7200.  Some say 1TB but show only 750GB.
Is iTB safe in this box?  Overheating issues?
I've seen a Seagate Momentus 1TB from one retailer but can't find any trace of it at others or on the Seagate site.

    Hello,
The most important thing is that it be Serial ATA (1.5 Gb/s) compatible, there is no practical limit other than manufactured size in that form & speed.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
The 750 GB WD I checked was SATA 3 Gb/s.

  • SPECS FOR NEW MBP HARD DRIVE AND HOW TO INSTALL NEW OS AND USE TIME MACHINE

I need to replace the hard drive in my early-2006 1.83 MacBook Pro (15-inch), because the Genius at the Apple Store told me that I'm getting weird behavior on it due to the drive slowing down and that it won't last much longer.
    I have 2 questions:
First, I want to order the drive online and have it installed locally. I will probably get a 320 to 500GB drive. What are the exact other specs I will need to find the right one?
Second, I am currently running 10.5.8 and backing up with Time Machine. I would like to install 10. 6 on the new drive, but don't know how to go about using the Time Machine backup to get all my apps and files running. Can someone describe this procedure for me?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Annie,
You need a 2.5" 9.5mm high SATA HD, either 5400 or 7200RPM. Check out macsales, newegg, amazon to name a few places.
How to restore from a TM backup: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427
Prepare your HD by formatting and partitioning it:
    1. Boot from install disc (press power button, immediately insert install disc and hold down c key).
    2. Select your language.
    3. Open Disk Utility from Utilities menu.
    4. Select the HD in the left pane (the manufacturer’s name and the HD model number).
    5. Click on the Erase tab.
    6. Choose the Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
NOTE: if you want to zero the HD (which I always think is a good idea, but does take time), click on Security Options, click the button for Zero Out Data, click OK. The larger the HD, the longer this will take, in some cases several hours.
    7. Click on Erase and wait for the entire process to finish.
    8. Click the Partition tab.
    9. Click on Volume Scheme: and choose the number of partitions (normally just one unless you have other plans).
    10. Click on the Options button (located underneath the Volume Scheme pane) and select GUID.
    11. Click Apply.
    12. Quit Disk Utility and continue with the installation process to install OSX or run Restore from a TM backup; when finished, repair permissions, run updates, repair permissions.

  • HOW DO YOU GUYS DEAL WITH APPLE.. SO CONFUSING...NEED HELP WITH SPECS FOR PURCHASE OF IMAC 21.5

Hi guys, been reading your forums, blogposts, etc and am getting more confused.  I'm just a video girl trying to produce meaningful content through web videos for small to mid sized businesses and want to come over from the dark side.
Good news,, I dont need a super giant system,  I do simple editing for web videos, minimal graphics, no motion graphics, no animation etc. currently using CS4, will probably end up with 5.5.
I want to get imac 21.5 or 27 if i have to..  So here's the question we all have,,, what do I really need besides an Apple fairy godmother to figure this crazy stuff out?????
I want to be able to have firewire add on, but the rest is what I need help with.   So i've been looking at cs6 specs, even though im not there yet, eventually will be,, so just need to run cs4 now and build from there.  I also want to eventually move to final cut down the road so I want imac able to upgrade to final cut.
WHAT DO I REALLY NEED MINIMALLY FOR NOW?  WHAT CAN I GET LATER IF i CHOOSE TO DO MORE AND NEED MORE POWER?
    cs6:
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.6.8, v10.7, or v10.8**
    4GB of RAM (8GB recommended)
4GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space required for preview files and other working files (10GB recommended)
    1280x900 display
7200 RPM hard drive (multiple fast disk drives, preferably RAID 0 configured, recommended)
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
DVD-ROM drive compatible with dual-layer DVDs (SuperDrive for burning DVDs; Blu-ray burner for creating Blu-ray Disc media)
QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features
Optional: Adobe-certified GPU card for GPU-accelerated performance
Any responses would be great.  I know you guys are busy answering the really high end tech questions

All the current iMac models (both 21.5" and 27" with OS X Mt. Lion 10.8) will run CS4, 5.5 and 6 just fine.  They will also run Final Cut Pro X just fine.  Ditto for most any application you may want to use.
Below are some notes (specific to your apparent requirements) that may help you with your purchase decision:
Notes on purchasing a 21.5" iMac
All 21.5" iMacs come with 8GB RAM but you cannot add more later.  I strongly suggest getting the maximum RAM (16GB) when you order the iMac.
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 5400rpm drive.  It will work fine with Adobe CS but you will probably want the added speed of the optional 1TB Fusion drive for better performance. Some people will recommend/argue for one of the optional SSD drives instead, but they are very expensive and still only come in relatively small capacities - I don't recommend the SSD drives.  Get the Fusion drive and spend any extra money on a good external hard drive for backup and/or extra storage instead of an SSD.
Notes on purchasing a 27" iMac
All 27" iMacs come with 8GB RAM and you can add more later, up to 32GB
The basic hard drive is a 1TB 7200rpm drive - it will be fine with Adobe CS.  There are upgrade options to a 3TB 7200rpm drive or a 1TB or 3TB fusion drive - these will be fine also.  There are also SSD drive options, but I do not recommend them. (Same comments as above.)
Notes on all the current iMacs
iMacs no longer come with built-in CD/DVD drives.  If you need one, you will need to purchase the Apple Superdrive accessory drive ($79)
All of the iMac graphic processors (GPU's) are compatible with Adobe CS 4, 5.5, 6
It is very difficult to impossible to change or upgrade the hard drive later on, so don't buy low-end thinking you can add a better internal hard drive later.
Be aware that Macs always come with the latest (most recent) version of OS X.  And OS X Mavericks (10.9) is due to be released soon (in the next month or two).  There is no guarantee that the older Adobe CS 4 or 5.5 versions will run on OS X Mavericks.  If you cannot upgrade to CS 6 in the near future, you may want to purchase now rather than after OS X Mavericks is released.
For what it's worth, I'd recommend the 27" iMac if your budget can afford it.  You will appreciate the larger screen size and added capabilities over the years you will use the computer.

  • I need an update for my DVD Drive HP & not rely on Microsoft

I am having a HP DVD problem & i tend to disagree if ya say that my DVD drive (HP DVD RW AD-7586H)  needs replacing. My dvd drive works when it wants to (Has a mind of its own). The latest update for my DVD Drive is 21/06/2006 (7+ year old way out of date driver). Ive uninstalled my DVD Drive & re-installed after bootup & that didnt do nothing & i have used quite a few programs to update my driver (Driverbooster, DriverScanner etc) & there is never, ever an update for my DVD Drive via DriverBooster, DriverScanner or my HP Suppoort Assistant. EVER. If HP can give me a BIOS update, why dont you send me a DVD Drive update via me HP Support Assistant HP????  Well i think its a bout time HP should create an update to fix all DVD problems instead of relying on Microsoft to fix it. If my DVD Drive was Windows well i'd use the microsoft Fixits, but considering its a HP DVD drive , i think HP should fix the problem, not Microsoft.
    This question was solved.

What you see in divice manager is the control driver for the dvd drive, what you are really needing to look at is the firmware version on your dvd drive & see if a newer firmware is available.
Generally a lot of faults even intermitant ones are more hardware than firmware, drives are very cheap though & a 2 minute job to replace if needed plus you can source a better quality drive & spec as desired.
i think KH21 is newest firmware for that dvd drive.

    I can open/read Cd's ok. Music >itunes ok.
But when I put in movie DVD the drive runs 30 sec. and the ejects. Does not show on desktop.
Have looked in applications and find nothing that seems like for this hardware.
Have tried several searches on Web and @ Panasonic and find no listings for mac, only one for windows.
Have tried to find driver on this Apple site and cannot or don't know where to look or how. Tried search bar.
Takes me forever to figure out how to get back into forum, I signed up some time ago. Not easy to find.
I read some post and they said drivers are not listed for Mac for Matshita, just windows, and may/not work 100%.
    PCI ACARD 6260, ATY,Rage 128, Firewire 400, Mem. 256,128,128,64MB.

Some video (youtube) plays smooth(Quicktime), some starts and stops eventhough download is ahead of play in bar. Some (Microsofttrainsimul.) is stoppy, and pixed in full screen.
Would like to try to get DVD drive to read to see if can play movies, or do I need to look for a used G5 and with what min. specs.
I would like to know where to go to learn more about mac hardware etc., something to read?
    Thank You.

p.s. I had a Sony DVDRWdrive in but took it out because trouble with music cd's, would not read both channels completely/distorted.

"Would like to try to get DVD drive to read to see if can play movies, or do I need to look for a used G5 and with what min. specs"
Is the optical drive connected to the onboard bus and not to the Acard controller card? That card may not support removable media devices. A 400 MHz G3 can handle DVD movie playback, provided that you use a supported program for doing so. If you've replaced the Apple/OEM drive and Apple's DVD Player and iMovie don't recognize the new one, you should try a different player program (try "VLC"). I've watched movies on older beige G3s with 266 MHz processors and Radeon (32 MB or 64 MB) graphics cards, using a patched version of (pre-OS X) Apple DVD Player 2.7. You need an OS X player program that recognizes your Matshita drive and you should probably upgrade the PCI graphics card to something newer than the Apple/ATI Rage 128 card with 16 MBs of SGRAM. Newer cards have faster GPUs and DDR memory, which will make a noticeable difference in overall performance.
As far as streaming web video, your G3's hardware is limited, even with a high-speed internet connection. Uninterrupted, unpixelated playback may not always be possible, because there are other variables that you can't control.

I can see the TC in my finder, but when I click on a file or video to drag and drop, I get message that TC can't be modified. Help please!

I agree with Kappy.. passing files and especially via wireless is slow as slow.
Just need to be sure your TC is the new AC model??
And the OS on the computer is Lion?
Have you completed the setup of the TC via the utility? You do still need to get internet via the TC so it has to be plugged into the main router..

Then we can help you get into it.. whether you should put your files on it is another question.

    Hi:
    Try this Intel chipset driver...
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20775&lang=eng
If the auto install file doesn't work, download and unzip the second file listed (zip file).
Go to the device manager and click on the smbus controller needing drivers, click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you unzipped the file.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
For the mouse pointer problem try reinstalling the touchpad drivers.
