Need STP Audio to sound like LP

Anyone know of a plugin or effect that will allow me to take a audio clip and dirty it up to sound like an old LP record player with the pops and hisses? I've searched and couldn't find anything but I may not be using the right search criteria.
Thanks in advance.

  • Edit to tape audio promlem - sounds like "chorus" effect

I have tried to Edit to Tape an HDV Sequence, down converted to SD, to a Digibeta deck.
When I monitor (headphone out of digibeta deck) while recording it sounds normal. When I rewind and check tape it sounds like the audio is "doubled up", almost like a very short chorus effect is on the audio. as well as this I can hear what sounds like tape crackle now and again.
However - when I do a straight crash record from the timeline - the audio plays back fine, no crackle.
So thinking it was an edit to tape settings problem i clicked on the audio button in the edit to tape window and notice audio was set to ALL ON. I changed this to A1 and A2 on, thinking that my extra audio tracks (which I had disabled, these where the original audio, not the OMF exported stereo mix) were somehow going down the SDI anyway...
No luck - did the edit to tape again and still sounded the same.
My heart rate has returned to normal now as the network kindly will accept the crash record with non standard timecode - but I of course still want to find out the problem so this doesn't happen again next week....
The Sequence was HDV 1080i, via a Decklink HD Extreme Capture Card, set to down convert to anamorphic 16:9. Sony Digibeta DVW-A500P deck.
Anyone know what the problem could be?
    thanks
    Hugh

for the benefit of anyone who searches for forum for a similar problem - it appears to have been a sync issue. changing "out ref" to "input video" appears to have fixed it.

  • Audio export sounds like its in a tin cup

I have exported my project multiple times with different settings but each results in sounding like its in a tin cup, or sounds like its from  a cheap cell phone.  I imported the audio into audition and exported it to my desktop and it sounded fine but if I use premire it ruins the audio.  It just started doing this in the past few days and I haven't changed anything that I am aware of. Please any help would be great as this is for my employment!

The audio like you mentioned "sounds like it's from a cheap cell phone" only happens when you cut out the top end and low end frequencies, which clearly looks like a work of an EQ (or any other similar) plugin. Are you sure you heard the exported audio on your desktop and it sounded normal? If yes, then make sure the audio track in premiere doesn't have any effects on it. Also make sure your audio jack's inserted properly. Also listen to something else and see how that sounds just to make sure your speakers/headphones didn't snap.

  • Audio file sounds like Donald Duck on helium

I made a jingle in GarageBand. Then I dictated an audio file on my iPod with iTalk which hot-synced into iTunes. I then dragged the dictated audio file from iTunes to GB to try to mix the jingle and the audio together, but after my audio file is imported, it runs way too fast. I looked here for an answer: http://thehangtime.com/gb/gbfaq2.html#toofast - but it didn't work.
What do I do? GB 2.0.1 iTunes 4.9 iPod 4th gen.
    TIA
    JV

    Try this:
    1. Download Sound Studio at this link: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/soundstudio.html
    2. Once you've installed it, open the program, and under the FILE menu select IMPORT WITH QUICKTIME to load your vocal audio file.
    3. Once it has loaded properly, pull down the FILE menu and select SAVE AS
    4. Rename the file, and under the FORMAT pull-down menu, select WINDOWS WAVE
    5. Take the file from your desktop and drag it into Garageband. This should eliminate the "sped-up" effect and it should play at normal speed and pitch.
Let me know if that works.

  • Audio speakers sound like there screaming

My HP 2000 notebook pc, when playing my audio there is a high pitch frequency in the background. even after i restart it, nothing happened. I have to keep my volume on mute to make it stop

Have you checked the EQ in iTunes?
    Go to Window > Equalizer.
Set to flat, pre-amp at 0.

  • How can I fix voip audio that sounds like Mr. Roboto?

I've used several versions of Breeze/Connect with many, many presenters and configurations.  I've never heard someone sound robotic.  The person is wired to a LAN using a new Mac. Both the headset mic and the built-in mic sounded odd. I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting.  Any suggestions?
    Karen :-)

Well being hardwired does not compleatly remove network latency. Someone could have been transmitting a ton of data at the same time he was trying to talk.  There really is not much you can do about this especially if it is not your network.
FYI: If you want to see how good someone's connection is, click the little green vertical line in the upper right corner of the screen. It shows your connection status.  If you have the end user click that have them tell you the Latency number.  If it is <100 msec they should start to buffer. Again, there is not much you can do about it, but at least you can tell them the reason why it is happening.

  • Make clean ADR sound like a large room

I'm a newbie to Soundtrack Pro and could use some help.
I have ADR that I need to adapt to sound like the live footage.
We recorded in a large, empty storage room with 3 metal and 1 concrete wall (wall info just for specificity).
I taped ADR in a small, normal room with the actor close to the mic. It sounds crisp and clean. It doesn't sound like the large room recordings.
Is there a specific effect, or a chain of effects I can use to create this sound?
    Thanks.

Just an additional tip for the future, but try to get the same mic used in the original recording when doing adr, and avoid the temptation to mic it like it's a voice over, cause all the reverb in the world won't turn a very present recording into a location sounding one.
Having said that the previous advice is good.

  • Imported audio: sounds like cartoon mice 48KHz vs. 44.1 KHz vs. .mp3

Does anyone know if the following can be fixed:
I inserted some new slides and imported new .mp3 audio clips into CP4.  When played slide by slide the audio sounds as I would expect.  When published, however, the audio on the new slides play at about double speed to the others.  The v/o artiste now sounds like a cartoon mouse.
    So what's different?
I used a different recorder.  I recorded at 48KHz and rendered at the same (in Reaper), before converting to .mp3.  Yes, I know I should have used 44.1 but the file was going to be converted outside of Captivate in any case to .mp3 (and I forgot).
In the audio Manager I can see that the 'old' files that play OK were imported as .wav. Captivate can convert these.  The .mp3 files appear as 48KHz sample rate, even though I coverted to .mp3.
I have a feeling I may need to re-record the clips to 44.1.  Or is there are a way of converting 48KHz files to sound OK at 44.1 KHz?  Any ideas?

Are you willing to buy a newer iPod? How about the 4g @ 16gb for $199* usd or the 5g @ 32gb for $299*.

8-doing a factory reset, then repeating steps 1 through 6
Do you mean a restore to factory settings?. If so did you set up as new or restore from back up afterwards?

  • IMovie 10 - audio sounds like it's underwater

Just upgraded to iMovie 10 from 2011 version (iMovie 10 is not in the product list yet, so I'm posting here in hopes of getting some help). I like most of the new iMovie, but having a terrible time with audio after export. When I go to SHARE > TO DISK or ITUNES, the output file sounds like it's underwater or in t a tin can maybe . Hopfully it's a simple fix that I haven't stumbled on yet, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue and how to fix it. The sound is correct when played in iMovie 10. Thanks, Kevin
My CPU specs if that's helpful:
    - OSX 10.9
    - 2.8 GHz intel Core i7
    - 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

I've just discovered this issue, too.  Using m4v file created using handbrake from a DV AVI file.  Audio sounds fine if video is played in VLC, but sound awful in iMovie sounding like there's a strange echo type issue.
    cheers

  • When I record video on my iphone 4 the audio sounds like it is muffled and is not as loud as it should be?

when I record video on my iphone 4 the playback of the audio sounds like it is muffled and is not as loud as it should be? I have had the phone for 2 years and the last time I had used it to record a video was in July of this year. The sound came out crisp and clear. Now when ever I play back videos the audio is muffled and at a lower volume than it should sound like. I have the volume set all the way up when I record and my hands are not covering the microphone and/or near to affect the audio playback.

It worked!!!!! Thank you. I didn't know there was a microphone at the top. I knew the hole was there but I didn't know what it was for. Thank you so much. \m/ ROCK ON!!

  • Audio Speeds up, sounds like chipmonks

I can record a great presentation and when
previewing or publishing, the audio track speeds up and sounds like
the Chipmonks for the rest of the presentation. Tried on different
machines with different mich's and had the same problem.

I had this problem myself, had something to do with the rate
at which the audio was recorded if i remember rightly.
Are you recording this audio externally from Captivate and
    then importing?
