Need suggestion/expert comments regarding course FICO or ABAP

Dear Experts,
I am working as Oracle DBA for the past 12 years. I wanted to do SAP and joined here in Singapore at an institute. They asked me to take four core modules and one for my project. I took SD and HR as my core module and for my project I am confused what to take. I have two options on FICO or ABAP. For my experience which will be best so that it will help me to look for job opportunity in SAP. I need your expet comments in this.

I am looking for new job from my existing role. Here all the interviews are I am getting are scenario based and I am not able to reply most of them and as a result getting rejecting in every instance. . In my day to day work I am a part of DBA Monitoring team and everyday job is to monitor tablespace, listener, checking important mountpoint space, instance health check and backup monitoring, it is becoming boring day by day, hence I want to switch. actually as a DBA you have to do practice/play on your laptop or test environments...lots of things are there to do....
how to prepare myself to reply those type problem scenario's and their solutions
practice and ...........practice...practice...practice.......practice...practice...practice......practice...practice...practice......practice...practice...practice...... various scenarious.......on your test machine......
example: 1st thing is you have to learn oracle architecture and gain the sound knowledge on that.... book expert oracle architecture by thomas kyte...
2:backup and recovery ....every interviewer is expecting more info from you ..in this category...i hope..you have to practice various scenorious on your test machine ...
like some of below....take a full backup of your database before proceeding any.R&D....
1:datafile loss...system datafile losss... delete from the disk and try to restore/recover the db....do practice by using offline backup/online bcakup...
2 redo corruption....modifing redo log size....
3)controfile corruption/lost
4)data gaurd archive log missing sequence like gap at standby side..wrt primary.....break the N/W connection try this scenario...practice switch over/fail over scenarious..etc..
5)practice point in time recovery....
6)take hot backup of database practice above ones...like datafile lost/corruption...etc...
7) unconsciously table drop...flashback technology...
8)RMAN..beauty of oracle...lots of thing are there to play on test by using RMAN...
configuration....show all...it will give you the some conf parameter try to read each and every conf parameter do if its configure other than default...if you ..backup..restore...of any file missing...like datafile missing controfile file missing..etc...practice/play RMAN cmds....
now a days every interviewer will ask lots of things about RMAN....
9) do the cloning by using offline backup/online backup/RMAN

Need suggestion: few records to be updated in millions

Hi All,
I need your expert comments over below senerio:
Senerio: i have a table which has 2 column. Person_Id and Country_id. it has millions of records.
1) One persion_id may have multiple country_id but maximum 4.
2) this data is get updated. But around 4000 records are updated only out of millions present in table.
This updation will be done by a procedure which i will create. We will have information about those 4000 records which will need update and will update above table.
Now from performance point of view.. how we should design this table?
1) Should i create partition on this table? if yes.. what type of?
2) Should there be any index..
Please suggest, if there is any other better way.

As you know that TDS GL account automatically trigger at the time of invoice posting from the TDS customization.
As per your process system won’t find the TDS manual postings in J1INCHLN, the same scenario I have worked for one of my previous clients. Only the automatic TDS GL postings will appear in the J1INCHLN.
If your client don’t want the TDS certificate printings then go for your process, if your client wants the J1INCHLN clearing and TDS certificate then you have to follow the standard process.

1.     G-Grasp: How much till now you grasp.
2.     R-Remember: How much till now you remember.
3.     I-Implement:How much till now you implemented.
And one more thing; confusion for career is cause of serious casualty. If you are going for DBA track; then please don’t eager to collect information for developer track; and I suggest, you “invest” your time on DBA track (because you have completed OCA).

Need suggestion on how to do 3D spinning title animation

Hello all experts,
I need suggestion on how to do 3D rotating title animation. Let me explain what i wanted to do.
The end product is the word WELCOME.
But I want to animate it in such a way that the alphabelt W first appear as nothing from inside the screen to appear in the screen (that means zoom from small to big, is it called zoom out ?). In the process of zooming out, I want the W to have a thickness & it spins very fast along the horizontal X-axis and stops at the screen with the alphbelt W.
Then the whole process repeat with E, and I have WE. It then repeats with L and I have WEL. This whole thing repeats until it forms the word WELCOME.
Any suggestions ? Is there an inbuilt preset for this ?
If not, if I do from scratch, do I need a separate track for each alphabelt ?

Hello Ritu,
I would recommend you pick up FI/CO (Finance & Controlling) modules instead of learning an industry vertical since you will have a very specialized knowledge of the vertical and nothing beyond that. If you learn FI/CO module, you can apply it in any industry vertical. I mentioned FI/CO since I see you have done some Finance education. Alternatively, you could pick up other moodules like SD (Sales & Distribution), MM (Materials Management) etc.

I need your expert opinion on how to create a map with multiple conditions.
I have a procedure (which i cannot import or re-create in OWB due to the bug), so i am trying to create a map instead :-(
How can i create a cursors within the map?
My function creates table and cursor.
Then it will have to check for duplicates in the tables (the one created and another table) - the criteria for finding duplicates is a number of fields.I then need to place few different conditions (if some attributes are not available) and it has to load cursor based on this conditions. The next step is to fetch the data into the cursor based on what attributes are missing.
The next thing it will do is insert the data into table (if record doesn't exist), output the error in separate table is record is corrupted, or update the record with changed information.
In short i need to re-create match / merge but with conditions, iterations etc 'built into' it.
I can read up on available functions - it's just what would be the best options? and what would be the best approach to do so?
In my function i use %rowtype - but cannot use it in owb - so what would be the alternative? i don't really want to create a lot of variables and then have a nightmare of maintaing it. are there any tips regarding this?
having looked through Oracle dedupe - it's not really what i need because it is just DISTINCT.
I would appreciate any help / advise on this.

At the moment i am looking to breakdown the package into smaller chunks 'functions' and try creating the map that way.

There will not be any updates /deletes on the table.
I have created a partitioned table with same struture and i am inserting the records from my original table to this partitioned table where i will maintain data for 6 months.
After loading the data from original table to archived table i will truncating the original table.
If my original table is partitioned then what about the restoring of the data??? how will restore the data of last month???

You can a Cube at the reporting layer which gets data from DSO and which has these 2 extra characteristics completion date and previous cycle along with other chars and keyfigures from DSO.
You can populate these based on your logic in the field routine.

I've been using macbookpro for almost 4 years, and since I heavily use AutoCad, Sketchup and Lightroom on a daily basis it has been a bothersome to rebooth from one OS to another. I have been looking at the W530 for quite sometime and decided to make the swtich. I hope someone can enlighten me on how to go about the purcahsing of W530. 2. I plan to use the 500gb HDD in the hard drive caddy and use the msata and 2.5" ssd for primary drive, What would be the best way to copy the Windows and Lightroom from the HDD to msata drive (256gb adata)?
3. How come some unit with the w530 comes with a color sensor option and the higher w530 specs does not? would it be wise to get the Color sensor/ calibration from Lenovo or Just get other calibration software? and can you suggest in your experience a good calibration software for w530?
4. and lastly, does all w530 whether it be lower end specs or high end spec has a msata connection? Sorry of the ignorance.

I'm almost in your same boat; used a Macbook when travelling for AutoCAD and I just ordered a W530 (should arrive Thursday) after a long period of agonizing of the purchase. I'll update this thread once I've used it a bit if you'd like, but I have some comments on your post:
1. My understanding is that RAM works best when all sticks are of the same capacity. Personally, I ordered the W530 with the least RAM possible and am replacing all factory with Corsair Vengance.
2. Use drive cloning software.(check out this site: http://lifehacker.com/5839753/the-best-disk-cloning-app-for-windows). I'm eschewing the mSATA and going with a 500gb SSD (found the Samsung 840 for $279) as the main drive with the 500gb HDD in the ultrabay (mSATA slot vacant). Why do you need the hard drive caddy?
3. Not sure. I didn't go top-of-the-line as you are so my config had the color sensor option.
4. All have the mSATA.

Even the carrer growth in ABAP is very Good.
IN BW project, there is requirement of ABAPer. So if you are BW+ABAP, you will be getting paid more. Your value would be more.
Now, making a shift, even you want to change from ABAP to BW, you need to take some training. Because BW abap is a bit different thatn general ABAP.
The DW experience is not needed very much.but yes, its better to have knowledge in DW.
I'll suggest you to work for 6 months in ABAP and then take a training in BW. Because its more BW than ABAP in BW.

ATM implementation cost is very high. so i need suggestion from u because you also have practical exposure.
