Need suggestion on SAP module

Hi All,
I need a suggestion from all you guys.
After doing MBA in Marketing & finance, have been working as Research analyst in FMCG & retail industry for almost 3 year. Thought of learning some SAP functional knowledge by myself. Before starting thought of consulting you people
which module would be benificial for me ..as per my work background as Research Analyst.
Please suggest.
Thanks in Advance.
Ritu

Hello Ritu,
I would recommend you pick up FI/CO (Finance & Controlling) modules instead of learning an industry vertical since you will have a very specialized knowledge of the vertical and nothing beyond that. If you learn FI/CO module, you can apply it in any industry vertical. I mentioned FI/CO since I see you have done some Finance education. Alternatively, you could pick up other moodules like SD (Sales & Distribution), MM (Materials Management) etc.
Good luck,
Sunit

  • Need suggestions about sap fico

    hi,
I am pursuing MBA finance. Now i am in final semester. I am interested to SAP FICO. If i do SAP FICO now, can i get job in SAP field??? Here the main thing is i dont have any experience. Can anyone suggest me!!!!!!!!!

If you have completed training in SAP FI-CO, it is a different issue, perhaps the MBA was not necessary then, anyway, you are eligible, but only to be employed as a fresher. It is a fact that the industry values experience, but it is not worth it in my opinion to artificially create that experience on your CV. as I explained once you complete your MBA, you could apply to one the companies (example, whose name starts with I or W or T), as they may have an internship programme for freshers. Your SAP training may even help you in getting this job. You must be aware that there are lots of candidates for these jobs, and there are several considerations such as your academic grades and things like that...
In short, yes eligible as a fresher, provided you get an opportunity to interview with one of the large IT organizations, Highlight your Finance MBA training and SAP FI-CO training in your CV, but resist the urge to put fake experience - you should put in your time and gain experience the hard way. However you should not limit yourself to SAP jobs if you are in the process of gaining an MBA degree...hedge your bets with some other kinds of FI jobs which also offer opportunities to freshers, is my advice.
    All the best.

  • Pls suggest me which SAP module should i learn

I have done M.Sc Electronics and have more than 6 yrs experience in Life Insurance Training. which SAP module should I learn

I suggest you start reading about ERP and then about SAP. Get a basic idea of what SAP is all about and what are the major modules in SAP. Then select a module that best suits your domain experience and your interest. Once you've zeroed in on the right modules, start making enquiries if the job market is good for that module. If there's a good demand for those Consultants in the market, then plan to take up a course.
Here depending on your financial situation you need to decide if you can afford a SAP Certified training course or not. After completing the course start marketting yourself in the market using all the jobsites and professional networks untill you land yourself a job. This is the toughest part.
There are numerous threads and blogs with the same objective as yours. Read through them to get an idea.
    Good Luck.

  • Which is the best SAP module?

    Hi,
my name is vamsi and i have just completed my graduation and i am looking forward do SAP course but, as there are a lot of modules im confused what to select. Can you please suggest me which module is good and has a good demand in  the industry which can help me grow up in my career?
    Thank you.

    Hi Vamsi,
As you are a fresher just out of colleage you can select any module in sap as you like but before doing that please consider the following point:
First: Think in which subject you were most interested and always tried to learn more in your academics. Off course it has to do something with your stream of your education as well like for example: if your subject is Bachelor of Commerce then its natural that you would like to go for SAP Financials & Controlling. However if are a Bsc Graduate then think if you like coding, if the answer is yes, think about SAP ABAP option. If you are a Arts Graduate then think which functional skill you want to adopt, is it Sales, Logistics etc. If you have studied Industrial engineering like stuff you may want to go for Plant Maintenance related module etc. So Stream and subject plays a role for you to decide.
Second: No matter which SAP module you select to pursue its always good to read and know some basics of that module what it does, which way it is applicable in the industry, how is the job position,
etc. this will basically give you an idea about which module you want to learn.
Let me know if you need more information or career guidance.
You can join me in linkedin as well if you need.
    Thanks & Regards

    hi,
    welcome to sdn.
Automatically Activating the ODS Object Data
With this indicator, you can establish that the data that has Quality Status OK be transferred from the activation queue into the active data table, and that the change log is updated. Activation is carried out by a new job that is started after loading into an ODS object is complete. If the activation process terminates, there can be no automatic update.
in usual practice the function is set on,
if you are using process chain, the setting is 'ignored'
and process type 'activate ods data' need to be included,
ncase when there are multiple infosources supplying data to ODS , it is not advisable to check the flag ...as for each of the sources system tries to activate ODS data .In the case when it is not checked, multiple requests can be activated within one go and hence improves data load performance and reduce load on system(e.g. only one background job is required instead of multiple background jobs and other factors )..
If single infosource supplies data to ods then it is advisable to put the check in order to activate data automatically.
I don't prefer using ODS data activation automatically using flag.
    1. this setting won't be used in process chain. we need to create load process and Activation process.
    2. If ODS getting Data from several sources, i don't suggest to put this Flag. If you load data manually, you will run into some issues(if you try to load data from different sources at the same). But, for Automatic Loads using Process chains, it won't be problem.
    hope it helps your concern..

  • Which SAP module will suite my profile?

Hi , I have just joined this forum. I am a MBA Finance graduate with 6.5 years of experiences- 4 years in Insurance operations ,2 years in real estate operations and 6 months as a Project Consultant- Project management in Hospitality Industry. Now I am jobless and looking for jobs in Bangalore. I need someone to guide me and suggest me a suitable SAP module which can enhance my career opportunities. I thinking of exploring the opportunities in SAP. Please do suggest and comment. Thanks.

    Hi manju,
How much it cost you to train in FICO -15-20 k . Don't accept any high priced offer even if someone tell you that they take you to heaven .
Where to join ? The good ones are not in public . They do things in private because they are scared of SAP 's legal actions .No board. No advertisement and no online presence, it will be hard to figure them out.Their main ad is their own students . Word of mouth . So talk to more and more people in this field .
However all the local garbage in Bangalore will pop up a thousand times as soon as you google  sap FI Bangalore . Try it , just for the sake of it . Don't join anyone of it . If you accidentally visit them ,then don't be surprised if they hire you as a trainer to train those come after you for a nominal commission .
Another trap is sap authorized institute . Don't ever go there. No not at all . They are worse than those I mentioned above . I always wonder why SAP spoils their great brand with such a low quality institute . Those institutes are like garbage out of all the garbage. It's a  complete waste of money . If you don't want to feel like a rape victim, you shouldn't join them . Their charges are 2-4 lakhs .
How long it take to get grip ? It depends on each individual . Depends on how much time they spend to practice , read, write own notes , and presentation practice for job interview . One thousand hours of combined above effort should make a person comfortable with FI .
Good luck . Keep trying . Eventually you will win . Today's top FI consultants were just like you few years ago . There is no rocket science here, but just common sense.

  • Need suggestion on how to extract data from a table

Many years ago, I wrote many Perl scripts to increase my work productivity.
Now I am starting learning Java, Javascript and PHP for some purposes. Just wrote a simple html2txt java program.
Now I need experts' suggestion for one specific purpose - extract data from a html table. One of the examples is here: http://mops.tse.com.tw/nas/t06sa18/200902/A02_2454_200902.htm
I need to extract datum from the table and make some analysis. (Txt is in Chinese, sorry)
What is the best way to code it? Java, PHP or other? If Java, any suggestion what classes/module and approach to use?
    Thanks very much.

What is the best way to code it? It this a one shot (one time only task)? Then the best way is whatever way you are most comfortable with and which works.
If on going then I doubt language choice matters but using a html parser rather than attempting to parse it yourself is going to help in any language.
And are you starting with html files or starting with a http server? The two are very different.
