Need suggestions in doing my Init and Deltas

Hello Experts,
I am using the standard SALES OVERVIEW cube to store the sales data. I have introduced the custom built ODS to store the order level data in my flows. I am about to test my flows but I am afraid if the custom built ODS in the flows will create any problem while doing deltas as the standard Datasources are designed to update the cube directly.
One more thing is, If I do the init and deltas now for my testing, is it possible to delete all the data from ODS and the cibe and do the init again and start the deltas? Will the custom ODS be a problem in such scenarios? I am assigning the 0RECORDMODE to 0STORNO in the transfer rules.

Hi
You can test init and delta loads in both the ODS and Cube
You can later on delete all the requests in the ODS and cube if you want to
init again
Assign points if useful

Middleware: BDoc to IDoc conversion - init and delta

Hi,
First of all let me just say, that I know nothing about CRM (I'm an XI guy), but need to investigate on a matter, so please take that into accound when reading this post and responding to it.
Scenario:
Business Partners, Business Transaction Messages (orders and activities) need to be replicated to an external system. This is achieved by converting BDocs for the respective messages into IDocs via CRM Middleware and then sending IDoc to XI which in turn posts data to external database. This process should function both INIT and DELTA.
So far so good.
The problem is when having created for instance a new direct order and saved it. The BDoc is generated and converted to IDoc (CRMXIF_ORDER_SAVE02). In the fields OBJECT_TASK in the IDoc I get the expected 'I' for INSERT. This is what I expect.
Now, if I make a change to the order and saves it again the generated IDoc still contains just an 'I' for INSERT in the before mentioned fields. This is not to be expected - should be an 'U' for UPDATE, but this does not happen.
Anybody have any ideas why this happens and what is wrong?

Thanks for your answer. I'm on CRM 5.0. The note you mentioned seems not to be related to my problem. My question is regarding "download" of data from CRM to XI through CRM middleware. When trying to do this the "change pointers" (fields OBJECT_TASK and/or TASK) are not set correctly in the IDoc's generated by middleware (everything is writtens INSERTs), which means I cannot from XI determine by the data received if I'm to perform an update/insert/delete into the database.

Full upload after INIT and Delta

Hi Experts,
a quick question - If there is INIT and Delta infopackage running and I do another infopackage with full update option, will there be any issue in Delta?
when do I need to run repair? only when there is possibility of duplicate loading?

when there is deltas already running for the datasource , you can't request for Full but you can request using 'Repair full' which will acts and extract data as full load and it won't disturb present delta's

where is repair full option in IP?
where I can see all INIT conditions for a infopackage? for example INIT was done 3-4 times.. year 2001-2002, 2002-2003 etc, so all these INIT crit should be stored somewhere?

I Need Suggestions On Capturing, Timeline Settings and Final Rendering

Okay folks, this is me confused! I've been editing videos for the past two years and that isn't saying much as I've only trained myself through trial and error and reading manuals. I simply pretend that I know what I am talking about:) I have purchased the 5D Mark II and have FCP7. I think I'm doing okay, but I know there must be a better way of doing things and need help in doing so.
I film 1920x1080 30fps. I capture my footage with the default settings on the EOS disc that comes with the camera (works great), then I run my footage through MPEG Streamclip and convert them to XDCAM HD 30. From there I allow FCP to auto set the timeline to match the footage and then I edit away. So far so good and I'm really not complaining. However, since I have been making things up as I go along for so long, I have several missing pieces to my understanding of best quality film. I've been trying to figure out the use of ProRes codecs. My limited understanding (what I've heard and read) is that ProRes provides some of the highest quality. So my question is, should I then scratch the XDCAM codec conversion and go straight to ProRes, then edit ProRes and then final render as such? I'm confused because there are people that have said that you should edit in a lesser format and then render in the higher quality of ProRes since ProRes takes up more space on the hard drive (bigger files), yet, when I read official info on ProRes, the claim is that the files are small. So there is confusion number one. Then, confusion two, is if I edit in XDCAM or ProRes, what then? Meaning, is it best to send to compressor upon rendering or do I send it to QT or QT Conversion and then send that file to Compressor, or do I leave it at that and send to DVDSP? I know this is elementary, but all the conversations that I have found seem to be based on the understanding that I should already know this. So, I'm embarrased to say, I don't know, "this".
I have however, taken an edited a XDCAM timeline and then changed the Render Setting to ProRes and sent it to QT or QT Conversion (I can't remember which one sorry). The video had some text at the very end, and it looked incredibly jagged (no bueno). So I know that I was assuming or doing something wrong, and my "trial and error" has run its course as I have nearly run out of time. Therefore, I call upon the Discussion Board for help.
To sum up my questions:
1. Should I convert to ProRes to begin with instead of XDCAM?
2. Do I edit in ProRes and what should I make the settings for the Sequence (or should I allow FCP to auto select based on video files settings)?
3. What next? Do I send that sequence to QT, QT Conversion or to Compressor? If QT or QT Conversion, should I send it to Compressor after that?
4. What should I have my settings be over all on my Sequence?
I hope I'm not too annoying with my questions, and any help would be great.

1. Yes, absolutely. By immediately converting to a long gop format you are throwing away TONS of information.
2. Auto-select. By all means match clip and sequence settings
3. You haven't said what your deliverable is, so can't advise you how to export.
4. See #2.
Pro-rez will be larger files than what you are getting from the camera. Get used to it, drives are cheap.

you will need to familiarize youself with interfaces from the SAP point of view
IDOCs, RFC, ABAP proxies
then you need to find out how to manage this from XI point of view
(what kind of interfaces will be used by the non sap partner)
then you need to model the flows in XI

Init and delta uploads using process chain

Hi,
I have a scenario where for the first upload i use init upload for that i have an infopackage now for the subsequent uploads i.e delta upload i get the option for the same only once i have run the init upload.
so the doubt is can i use a process chain defined to carry out the whole task?????

Hi Virat,
AS init is a one time activity, so what you can do is.
1> set the init in infopack and run the process chain.
2> remove the infopack and then include a new infopack with delta option or change the existing infopack to delta option.
3> schedule the infopack.
whatever you are expecting is not possible.

Need suggestion in doing functionality similar to What-if Analysis?

I have to develop a line chart with some requirements which is little bit tricky. So, was checking out if some one can help me out here. My scenario is explained below:
Suppose if you are a Oil drilling machinery supplier and you receive invoices for drilling machine order from your clients every month. Now last year because of the issue like BP oil spill in gulf of mexico, and this year Japan's Tsunami the client has not received many invoices from oil drilling companies which are working in those areas.
So my invoices numbers are like in Feb 2010 was 10000, in March 2010 was 11000, and in April 2010 was 11500, and after the incident in April 2010 the May 2010 values are 5000, June values are 5500, July is 5700, and August 2010 is 10300.
Same kind of deviated values happened after Japan Tsunami. ( i have just taken these examples to let you understand my problem clearly).
Now with the deviation in invoices after April 2010, and the business restoring to its normal sales after 4-5 months, let us assume that June 2011 invoices are 11900.
Now my user wants to see a line chart in which he will have last six months of data (Dec-2010 to May-2011). Now they want to have another series in the chart which is a prediction of the future three months values. Also they want an option where in they want to see if some disaster happens what could be the drop in their invoice numbers.
For the first prediction i think i can use Trend Analyzer and forecast it to three months by feeding the last 6 months of data and use the resultant values in the series. But for the second scenario what can i do to retrieve a deviation in values.
Please let me know if you need any other details here.

I think my question was incomplete. Here i am not trying to see of how much deviation happened in my historical data but trying to find what could be the deviation in my future data. As i stated if the values for invoices in April 2010 to May 2010 dropped by 5000 because of a disaster, and after couple of months the business restored back to its regular invoices around 11000.
Now in future consider today is July 2011 and they got 11700 invoices already to be delivered for this month, they want to see a forecast or predicted value for August, September, October of 2011. For forecasting i used Trend Analyzer and feeded the last 12 months of data and i was able to get August, September, October values using the Linear Regression option in the component (the values were some were around 11767, 11821, 11853).
Now if some incident happens like i stated above like an oil spill for their major client and they stopped ordering the machinery how would the forecast values change. For this i understand that i have to feed a data as far as 4-5 yrs and see how deviation is happening because of disasters. But, can we do it manually in Xcelsius is what my question.
I went online and came to know of a tool called "Predictive Wrokbench" but the BI team Manager do not want to purchase the licence of a tool which is used only for only a single dashboard (which totally makes sense).

electronically transmitted outside the system. Since we have
Employee Number set as "Use National Identifier Number" in Business
Group definition, both Employee number and Assignment Numbers are
generated with National Identifiers. In most of the reports, alerts,
data files we use Employee Number/Assignment Numbers and
electronically transmit them to third parties.
This is the reason why we want to change the existing Employee
Numbers and Assignment Numbers to use Automatic Sequence numbers
rather than National Identifiers.
If anyone have done this earlier, could you please share your
experience with me. What is the best practice/solution to approach
it.

Have you handled the case of modifying the existing users in your scheduled task or in OIM. How will the OIM know whether the user coming from flat file is an existing or a new one. If you have not, then first try to find the user and update it
This is the plain GTC Flat File connector and I have not done any configuration in OIM to determine whether user is an existing user or a new user.This connector is able to create new user successfully .
Please provide information about what are all the steps needed to configure for updating an existing user

Suppose ur implementing BW for XYZ company.its having data from past eg 5 years.and every the data will add as per the business.
What we do is we will send all the past or historical data first in BW system ,that is FULL load and every day data data adds as per our schedule thats delta.
once full load get success we wil enable delta.

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works. Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up. Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp. Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp. Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.

A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
the Fusion virtual machine.

If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it.

Performing Init and Init of Delta in BI 7.0

As we use to create two info packages in BW 3.5, one for "INIT" and another for "INIT of Delta".
Do we have to create two infopackages in BI 7.0 too?
If we create two info Packages, then do we have to create two DTP's too?

You control the camera for Skype from within Skype, so Skype must be running to running to make video work.

Question on Deltas after Init and Full load

Hi
We have an ODS X pushing data to two cubes A & B. ODS X data is initialized to Cube A long back and deltas are loading every day. Now We have recently created Cube B and made a fulll load from ODS X and loading the Deltas from ODS X with same info package we are using to load the deltas in to cube A. Do we get any data inconsistencies if we load like this ? Do I need to make a new init for Cube B to get proper deltas ? I'm hoping that Deltas will automatically take care of reversal in Cube B too...Please advice.

This looks fine, since u have already done full load from X to B, and currently loading delta to both A n B , it is fine, no need for new init.
