Need ThinkPad T40 RecordNow Driver and Speaker problem

Hi,
I have IBM ThinkPad T40, Type 2374-W25. Can any one tell me where can I get original RecordNow driver. Whatever latets driver supported by lenovo required original driver.
My LapTop speaker's were working previously. But now they are not working. I have installed Audio driver's so if I connect external speaker it works. Some where I read that after installing wlan driver on T40, people started getting this speaker no sound problem. Is there a way to resolve this issue.
-Raghu

Welcome to the forum!
Downloading the driver is just the first part of the process, after that it must be unpacked from the appropriate directory.
For instance, your ethernet driver must be unpacked from C>Drivers>Win>Ethernet to become functional.
If you post the full 7-character model number of your T40 (237?-???) we would be able to assist you better.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
George

Yes the original Install Discs can be replaced for a nominal fee. Call AppleCare, you will need a credit card and the serial number of the machine. You can use the AppleCare Contact Info for the phone number on your part of the planet.

  • Hard drive and Lion problems

Since trying to do the Lion update on Weds my iMac has been playing up, basically when i going into disk utility and run "verify disk" i get error messages telling me to insert my OS X install cd so that i can repair the hard drive, i do this and when i try to repair the hard drive it tells me it cannot do it and that i need to wipe the hard drive and re install OS X form the cd. Ive done that twice since Weds and both times after ive installed the OS and then run disk verify it comes up telling me the same massages as before. The iMac was bought in March, ive looked after it so i cant see how there are problems. Its still under 1 year guarantee so do i take it back and get a replacement? Also when installer lion it tells me it something to do with 'no recovery' can anyone help me with this im fairly new to mac so keep it easy for me

Did you upgrade to Lion?  If so, repair your internal HD from the Recovery HD.   See Using the Recovery HD. (but you may not have one, because of the other message.)
If you're still on Snow Leopard, and Disk Utility can't repair the file system, it's possible a 3rd-party Disk Repair app like DiskWarrior, can.  It's about $100, though, and there's no guarantee.
Another option, if you have backups (you should, you know):  erase the drive and restore them.
The "no recovery" problem is likely because of the problem on your internal HD.  See:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4649?viewlocale=en_US

  • Need a new hard drive and ?'s - recommendations?

need a new main internal hard drive.
What do you recommend as a minimal size? I need to get it as cheap as possible.
Do you recommend a store or brand?
Do I need to make sure it is Mac compatible or are they all?
I checked out staples.com and found maxtor had a 120 gb drive for $70. There are two kinds Pata and Sata. Is one better than the other?
    Thanks so much!!
I am in Long Beach, CA

The cheapest way to buy a drive is to buy oem, that is, a bare drive. This is the kind of drive you will get from New Egg or Other World Computing and most other online stores. If you buy brick-and-mortar, such as Best Buy, you'll get a boxed drive with
a cable, screws, some (windows) software, and a printed manual - and usually pay significantly more unless you get the unit on sale. You will almost certainly
have to format the drive to make it Mac compatible, but this is quite easy using Disk Utility. You can use both PATA and SATA drives in your machine, but would have to purchase a SATA pci card to do so, so that's probably out if price is important. I love Western Digital drives in G4s, but I've had good success with Hitachi in my G4. My recommendation would be at least 250g, such as this Western Digital: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822144701 - just $70. I don' t like the latest generation of Seagates as they draw a lot of power on startup and cause problems in some systems. Samsung makes great drives - cool running, quiet, fast - but have a slow access time so make a better backup drive than boot drive. Many people love Maxtors in their macs, but certain models run much hotter than other drives, so I avoid them also. If you are still using the original drive, almost any new drive will give you a noticeable boost, so don't sweat it too much. Good Luck.

  • External Drive and Vista problems

I recently got an external drive with the intentions of keeping my iTunes library on it. So far I have had nothing but problems. In the advance prefs. I set the music folder location to my external drive. To test it, I would rip a CD to iTunes (which is installed on the C drive). Sure enough, the library would be in the folder that I designated it in the ex. drive. My problem is that when I open iTunes, it creates a folder under Music on the C drive which contains the library with the ripped CD. Whats the point of putting it on an ex. drive if it automatically puts it in a folder on my computer? Its frustrating because I set the path of the library to my ex. drive. Why is it also putting a copy of the library on my computer under a music folder? Is it a "Vista" thing or an iTunes problem? I need to get this sorted out because I would eventually like to put my whole library (backed up onto discs) into the library only on my external drive before I purchase a new iPod soon. I dont want any music on my C drive because I need the space.

You know what? I figured this out myself the next day with a solution that I haven't seen anywhere else. I understood all the operations of consolidating libraries to seperate drives, but what was creating the problem was vista's fantastic ability to stick anything ripped into the owner/music folder despite where the library path is pointed. The answer was so obvious and simple. I went into the advanced prefs. and changed the library path back to the default owner/music folder. Then I right clicked the owner/music short cut in the start menu, selected properties and made the whole "my music" folder located on the external drive. Now when I plug in my external drive and open windows, the library is pulled from the music folder on the external drive and runs like normal. When I remove the drive and open iTunes, it gives me an error that the library cant be found. When I right click properties on the music icon in the start menu, it says it takes up zero bytes, which is exactly what I want. Its funny how I utilized the problem to get what I wanted.

  • Working photographer needs help with hard drives and raid O decisions

Hi new here and also new to Mac well almost new been 20 years since i had a mac. i have a Mac Pro Book and this led to ordering the MacPro since I am a working photographer i made a complete switch in platforms so i have some questions and such but I did place a order on Friday for a 2.66 4gbs of Ram , 2 500 gb hard drive and a 30 in monitor and of course the ATI 1900 XT card so yes i am waiting like many for that card.
I put initial 4gb of ram since running CS2 will at least take a max of 3gb's in the memory cache . i plan on getting 2gbs more from OWC since that seems to be the only 3rd party ram at the moment that is working correctly from reading some of the threads here. Having 6gbs is a no brainer really given the amount of Raw processing that i do along with PS work plus having e-mail and other apps open at the same time. The ram to me is the easy part although expensive . My biggest issue is what to do with the 2 hard drive slots and Raid O or not but I will start a thread on that. But i will have 6gbs total for now and the bottom line is you can never have enough ram still holds true.
Now on to my diliemma with hard drives. I did have a raid O scsi 10k rapture and and 10 k scratch on my Dell box and I am just not sure what to do here. i ordered the 2 500 gb hard drive and I may just put them on the storage side of things than get 2 WD 150gb 10 k Sata drives. Now i could Raid O them for 300 gb and get a performace boast that way or i could keep them seperate and put everything on 1 150 drive and ue the second for scratch only. What i don't know is what Mac perfers and what works better. Not worried so much about failure of drives, thats just life in the big city stuff and you just have backups. What i more worried about is performance versus a waste . seems to me that Raid O may not even be needed with these new Intel boxes with all the horsepower going on. Now the other think I notice is the WD 150gb 10 k drives are 1.5 and not 3.0 so is it really faster than the 7200 3.0 single hard drives. I read barefeats shoot out and it seems just getting the right drives in 7200 and Raid O them maybe the answer.
Okay i am not the biggest geek on the planet but I do know my stuff but this is a area that i look for more knowledge on this. So if i can get some sound advice in this area. i know there are many photographers out there like me pushing hundreds of images that could use the same advice. Now let's leave the money end out , folks sometimes think more with there wallet than what works best not that I am opposed to saving money but after spending over 7 k already on this system it becomes a moot point. LOL
    www.guymancusophoto.com

Ok your question is if you should RAID O the two 150GB Raptors or not.
I think it was wise for you to get a couple of them for a boot drive with "Time Machine" coming in the next version of Mac OS X. The second drive would make a excellent bootable backup and eliminating downtime if a boot drive dies on you one morning.
In fact any boot drive cloning software that is Mac Intel ready now would do you good.
Now Barefeats has run some tests, and I can pretty much back up what they say from my own experience.
Mac OS X and apps can be helped only so much by a faster boot drive, and a single 10,000 RPM Raptor is enough, RAID O a pair is overkill.
If you install everything on the boot Raptor and keep your space hogging files (except iTunes) in new folders on another drive, even a 7,200 RPM 500GB, the two drives combined is faster as there is nearly no wait. Both drives can be accessed at the same time. Keeping the boot drive slim keeps the stylus (arm) moving as little as possible to get all the small reads/writes Mac OS X needs.
I RAID O-ed my boot drives because 74GB was the largest they had at the time, so combining them gave me speed and larger storage. I hardly use the speed, it only comes in handy if by rare chance I duplicate a 20GB folder, then I can do it in half the time of a 7,200 RPM drive.
Some of the drawbacks of a RAID O set, especially as a boot drive is that I have to auto-clone the whole set to a external drive regularly (I actually do a couple). Since the data path is separated with a RAID O, any drive failure results in total data loss.
So if you RAID O those 150GB Raptors, your going to have to clone 300GB to a external drive (or another internal) regularly, like once a week. This will take considerable time and you can't use the machine while the cloning process is going on. Sure auto-cloning software like DeJaVu can be used at night/weekends, but why bother cloning more than you have to for no big speed increase?
However if your messing with huge Photoshop files that spill over your CS2 3GB RAM limit (you need to have a "scratch" thats as fast as RAM), duplicating large files and other heavy duty drive work, then a boot RAID O will come in handy. Just remember your initial performance of 185 MB p/s will drop about 20-25% when those drives are 3/4 filled. Still 140 MB p/s is extremely good and a no worry situation.
What is worrysome is anything below 80MB p/s (I'm talking uncached 4K write speeds under X-Bench) with a new boot drive and then as time elaspes that boot drive gets filled up and loses half or more of it's inital speed. 30 MB p/s is really slow. Beachball H&LL.
    http://www.barefeats.com/hard33b.html
Do Erase W/Zero in Disk Utility all new drives before laying data on them. Drives get subjected to shock which causes bad sectors on the drive. Driver software uses your data as a guinea pig to test the sectors (which you might not be able to recover the file). Zeroing does this without your data, rewriting the bad sector map so your writes are much improved, OS is more stable. etc.

  • Need advice on bluetooth driver and software download

*PLEASE HELP*: just bought a Nexus bluemicro pro bluetooth v2.1 dongle. and ive damaged the disk it came with when I was opening the packet.
The disk says: Toshiba bluetooth driver and software bluetooth BT1.2/2/0/2.1.
Does anyone know if there is a download for this online somewhere or will I have to go out and buy another one? I'm not clued up when it comes to computers and would very much appreciate any advice and help.... I;m using windows vista so it would have to be compatible.

On Toshiba support and download page you can download Toshiba BT stack but it is for usage with Toshiba notebooks.
You bought non-Toshiba product so for download contact Nexus or visit Nexus support page.

  • Dell Audigy 2 and Windows SP3 driver and static problems

    SB0243
Ok, Creative you and Dell have left us customer behind and giving us the shaft.
I know you tell us to go to Dell to get drivers, and Dell still has the same driver posted they had when i bought my PC in 2003.
Funny thing is that the only driver i find that work without the static problem is the one from the creative CD from 2003. The only catch is that none of the other sound Apps will install or work with windows SP3. So you end up with a card that has sound without static but only in two speaker mode, no mixer, EAX, CSMM, sound bank, etc... you know all the other stuff.
I have installed Danial K driver at one time and they worked good for months then the static came back one day. Now after a fresh install of windows with SP3 i end up here with only the old driver working with just two speakers.
This is very sad that a big company like creative can not create a driver that works with current software. You need to fire all your programmer and go hire two with all the money you paid everyone else and maybe then these two top programmer might be able to make something that works. This has become a joke in the sound industry.
It was said that this ship is sinking, i think it has sunk at this point, us rats are jumping ship to some other card that works. Most likey it is not going to be from creative.

?Hey, I cant get CMSS to work here, im on windows 7 32bit, wich CMSS version are you using? I cannot open THX Console or EAX Console.

  • UserEventAgent won't let me eject my external hard drive, and other problems

I'm running a MacBook Pro (2008-ish model) running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 with 4Gb of RAM and 750Gb of internal HD (the original 250Gb seriously cramped my style), and UserEventAgent is acting all weird.
Because of that old 250Gb HD, I was in the habit of storing files I didn't need at the time on an external hard drive, a LaCie 500Gb connected by FW800 (probably not relevant). And lately, whenever I plug it in, I can't eject it without forcing it to eject.
Using the "list open files" command and searching for that drive [ lsof | grep LaCie ] reveals that UserEvent drops an immediate hook in it for some reason. This connection is immediate, and short of force-quitting UserEventAgent in Activity Monitor at the exact moment I try to eject that drive, I can't disconnect it properly without forcing it or shutting down completely.
In fact, looking at UserEventAgent's open files and ports in Activity Monitor, something just plain doesn't look right:

The repetitions (I mean seriously, who needs three open connections to /dev/null?), and the multiple instances of "count=0, state=0", suggest that UserEventAgent is getting bad info from somewhere.
If I can track down what's making UserEventAgent imitate an overly amorous octopus, maybe I can straighten out this mess. But I wouldn't be surprised to find that this list has picked up funky smells and bad habits from all the earlier versions of OS X I've run.
    Help? Please?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.) You can omit the final line ending in “$”.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:

This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Oracle JDBC Thin Driver and Firewall Problem

    Hi!
We have Oracle 8.1.5 and Websphere App Server. There is a
firewall between the two. A servlet creates a connection pool
(not that of Wesphere's). The frontend is JSP/HTML (no applets).
The servlet uses the Oracle JDBC Thin Driver for DB Connections.
The problem is - Once the connection is freed, the connection
pool is not being able to retrieve it and hence it created
another one, thus reaching the max. # of connections and the
system hangs. Restarting the DB service flushes the connection
and the application starts running again...
There was a similar problem discussed in this forums long ago. I
have not yet tried mentioning the firwall port and IP in the
connection string. But apart from that, is there any other
setting I need to do (on firewall or for the connectionstring)
    to deal with this problem?
Someone had suggested to punch a hole in the firewall for the DB
port - but we can not really do that in the current scenario...
I would appreciate if anyone could share their experience
regarding how they resolved this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vijaya.

    One more question -
Can we use Oracle JDBC OCI driver? We do not have any appletes...
Does it have firewall issues too? Is there any other driver that
    we can use?
    Thanks,
    Vijaya.

  • Not installing intel hd graphics hp oficcial site driver and brightness problem

after downgrading to window 8.1 to window 7 (64 bit ) issue of  intel hd 4400 in hp 15 r0-14tx does not install the intel graphics (SHOWING ERROR : SYSTEM DOES NOT MEET MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS) PLZZZZZZZZZZZ help how to fix itzzzzzz.......
AND I also dont have recovery drive it is deleted by meeeee....

You have tried any other unsupported version of graphics driver???
If yes then uninstall it and reinstall your computer then try to reinstall driver which you have just downloaded.
If you dont have installed any unsupported driver then try the following
    1) Right click on computer
    2) Click on manage
    3) In left panel select device manager.
    4) Find your graphics controller (Mostly found in display adapter)and right click on it and choose option update driver software.(You need to find your graphics controller yourself because it was diferrent for diferrent models i.e. I have Intel(R)HD Graphics in display adaptars)
5)If this was doesnt fix your problem then try Intel driver updater  or Driver navigator tool

  • External hard drive and itunes problem

I've had real trouble with my external logitec USB 2 (that's the japanese logitec not LOGITECH) hard drive.
I had my itunes music folder on it, and when i connected my shuffle and tried to transfer songs, itunes would usually freeze. so i transferred all the songs onto my ibook instead and it works fine as long as the external drive isn't connected, BUT get this: if i have the harddrive connected to my ibook, itunes will freeze when i try to transfer tunes from my ibook to my shuffle. i don't get it. unless my ibook is confusing the two drives? sorry, i don't know much about this. i've tried reinstalling itunes and i have the latest version. i've also reformatted my shuffle. but no luck.
    any ideas???
    thanks!
    David.

    Nick,
I am by no means an iTunes guru and I haven't come across this problem myself.....but this is what I would try.
Select all of the songs in your iTunes library and delete them from the library only.
File > Add Folder to Library > browse to your folder on your external and hit OK
I have to do this every time I add new songs to my MP3 folder, as iTunes can't figure out that most of these songs already exist in the library. It then decides to make multiple instances of the same song and therefore showing that I have tons of duplicate songs.
If you need this for transferring your music to your iPod, then by all means more power to you.
    If you are doing this to play your music only, then I strongly suggest looking into purchasing a different music player. I personally use Musicmatch Jukebox for several reasons;
    1. It allows the user to sort thier music library in MANY different ways using various criteria (not just one option to sort music).
    2. It allows for many more fields for your ID3 meta tags, so you can have featured artists shown on compilation CD's.
    3. It's been around for a LONG time and incorporates the feedback they receive from the customers.
    4. You now have the option to buy it with all future updates in one price.
Hope that this helps you out....
    Cheers

  • If you use external hard drives and have problems, read this

    My setup is :
Power Book G4 running Mac OS X 10.4.10, with the latest version of iTunes.
Since I have a huge amount of music, that I have aquired during the past 25 years, I was very excited, when finally an iPod with a decent HD was released.
As you know, 70,000+ songs will not fit on your internal HD in a Power Book, so I had to move my music collection to two external Firewire HDs.
Synching a subset of my 'overall collection' to my good old G3 iPod has never been an issue.... that was, until I hooked up my 160 GB iPod classic for the first time...
I ran into all kinds of issues, especially, when synching a huge amount of songs at one time (i.e. 26,000 songs and more).
The data on the iPod would be incomplete or corrupted, once the Synch was completed.
The iTunes helpdesk was clueless and had me restore my iPod, even after I have told them several times, that I have done this before (many times) and that this definitely was not the issue.
As mentioned in other threads, iTunes is unbearably slow, once a 160 GB iPod classic is connected. And as it turns out, the problem occures when transferring songs through this VERY slow application, from the firewire drives, to the iPod which is connected through USB. After a certain amount of songs, iTunes starts 'stuttering' (if I have to look at the 'spinning wheel' for another 15 minutes, I will lose my mind) and somehow the data transfer between iTunes and the iPod gets corrupted.
Hence, once the Sync is finally completed (we are talking about 5 hours), the iPod is no longer able to play any songs, and all that can be done, is resetting the iPod again and start from scratch.
How Apple missed this, during their beta testing, is beyond me. They probably only used the latest intel processors on their fastest machines.
So if you run into similar issues, and if you have a similar setup, you might want to start synching small batches of songs.
I hope, a fine tuned iTunes version will be released soon.

When I first experienced this problem it appeared as though everything was transferring correctly. The progress dialogue showed that I was transferring a few thousand songs and then stop. When I looked at the ipod it showed only a few hundred (if that) had been transferred. This was about a year ago that I had this problem.
I think what is happening is that the software is setting up the transfer but not actually transferring the files until the very end. Seems weird I know, but the problem was consistent. It only happened when I had the setting to transfer the album art selected.
Apple was no help. But when I plugged the sync cable directly into the computer everything worked fine. I would think that a good powered hub would work as well as being plugged directly into the computer, or at least using the outlets on the back of my Apple display, but that is not the case.
I don't know what to suggest about USB 1. Before USB 2, Apple used firewire with all of their ipods because USB was sooo slow. When USB caught up (or close enough) they changed the interface.
You might try unselecting the option to sync album art. I know that the new interface looks pretty ugly without it, but at least you would have your music.
