Need Tiger upgrade for FileMaker

My server is a G4 1Ghz Power PC. It runs OS 10.3.9 and Apple Server 10.3. We need to upgrade to Tiger to update our FileMaker to ver. 9. I need to know if upgrading the OS to Tiger (10.4) will the server software (10.3) be compatible or will the server software also need to be upgraded.
Thanks.
Linda

You can't upgrade to 10.4 and still have the server software be 10.3. You'll need to purchase a new copy of Mac OS X Server version 10.4.

I Need help. My DVD writer Mat_s_h_i_t_a UJ-850 has problems in writing dual layer dvds. I cannot complete the recording, it always fails. I looked for a firmware upgrade for this recorder, but I did not find anything. Does anybody know where to find a firmware upgrade for this dvd writer?
    Thank you!

It would help if you provide the firmware version currently on your DVD writer. Anyways, here is a link for firmware version 1.01.

  • Tiger upgrade for an 800 Mhz iMac G4 running 10.2.8

When looking for the upgrade and/or install DVD's to upgrade to Tiger OS X 10.4 on an 800 Mhz G4 iMac currently running on 10.2.8, are there specific versions to look for? I have seen some for sale online that say they are good for the G4, G5, etc. but also say OS X 10.3 is required for the upgrade. Is there a way to upgrade from 10.2 to Tiger 10.4?
    Thanks.

How much RAM do you have in that machine? You may have enough for running 10.2 or 10.3 just fine, but the real-world requirements for 10.4 are a little higher. You may be disappointed with the performance if you don't have at least 1GB.
Also, how much free space do you have on the hard drive? The stock hard drives in those vintage iMac's weren't very fast or large. You might consider installing a new OS version on a bootable external FW drive, that way you can keep your existing system on the internal and boot from either, you can go back to the 10.2.8 system as needed.
Do you have any third-party software or hardware, (printer/scanner/etc) that will not work in 10.4? Those may require upgrading to new versions/drivers, if still available.

  • Can't find website and do I need an upgrade for emails?

    Hi There,
I created my website in Muse greyowlenv.businesscatalyst.com and then earlier tonight upgraded my site and added my purchased domain www.greyowlenv.com. I also went to go Daddy and set the servers to worldsecuresystems. The trouble I am having is that when I type in my url www.greyowlenv.com I get directed to the Go Daddy site...see screen print. What else do I need to do to have it go live?
Secondly, with my yearly Creative Cloud subscription I was told that included hosting and email accounts. But when I go to site settings there is no menu for email accounts. Am I needing to pay additional for this when I was told this service was included?
Lastly, do I need to do anything with the ARecords, CNAME Records MX Records or Advanced DNS records? Because I found the instructions confusing???
Your help getting the site up and running is graciously appreciated.
    Thanks, Carrie

    Hi Carrie,
The url is coming up under www so I suspect possibly propagation which has since resolved.
In regards to CC subscription you are correct that it comes with 5 entitled hosted sites on BC however the plan by default will be under "webBasic" and does not include email hosted service.
"What are the limitations of the Business Catalyst websites that come with Creative Cloud?
You will be limited to 100 MB of storage and 1 extra user (could be your customer). You are not entitled to emails, SMSes or newsletters for this web plan."

  • Need iPhoto upgrade for an old OS 10.3.9 system

I have an old Mac G5 desktop computer that uses 10.3.9 Tiger.  My iPhoto software came from my iLife '06 software. I'd like to upgrade the iPhoto software to at least be able to organize photos into "events."
I am an artist and my only use for this old Mac is in my studio for holding photos for reference. If you know how I can improve my iPhoto program, please help!
    Many thanks
    Victoria Moon Joyce

Actually Events is just another name for Rolls.  The both server the same purpose, organize photos by imports or by date.  iPhoto 8 (09) was the first to have Events.  There will be many feature enhancements when upgrading to iPhoto 8.  But you can use Rolls just the same as Events.
The only thing to remember is when using Rolls remane them to something other than Roll XX so that when you do upgrade to iPhoto and Events the standard Roll names, i.e. Roll 12, don't end up converted to "Unnamed Event".  If you name the rolls with some informative title and even a date that will be carried over to the Event title when you do upgrade.

  • Upgrading to Snow Leopard - CD won't run - need to upgrade for iCloud

I wanted to update my wife's MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard from Leopard, and upon inserting the CD, it wouldn't load. I tried other CDs in her drive and they loaded up fine, and I tested inserting the Snow Leopard into my iMac, and it loaded up fine as well.
So I tried copying the contents of the Snow Leopard disc onto my wife's machine from my iMac, and after finishing copying & double-clicking on the Install icon now on my wife's harddrive, I got a message saying something like:
"You are not able to install this software (or Snow Leopard) in this way. Please install the software from the original CD", or something to that effect.
Nevertheless, I can't use the CD to install it on my wife's MacBook Pro, for unknown reasons, and I can't run the installer via the copied software from the CD.
How do I go about updating/upgrading this computer then to Snow Leopard? I want to install Snow Leopard, and get it updated the 10.6.8 so that my wife will be able to convert her .Me account over to iCloud and still use her email (primarily).
    Thanks!

Firstly, are you using a retail Snow Leopard DVD?
If you are and the DVD won't load in the superdrive, it is possible to remotely install from your Mac, but not that way.
In the Applications/Utilities folder, you'll find an item called "Remote Install OS X".
Insert the DVD into your superdrive, open the utility and follow the instructions.
Here's a Knowledgebase article on the subject.
Although it's intended for installing on MBA or Mini without optical drives, other users have reported that it works with other Macs, too.
    As always, the target must meet the minimum requirements for SL;

  • Upgrading For 7 to 8 any advice

    Hi Folks
I've just ordered 8 and will be driving in at the deep end, I am just looking for any advice on upgrading to help with as smooth transition as possible, I have a good number of third party plugins, UAD, Powercore, PSP, RMX, Melodyne, and many more, so would the advice be to install 8 on to the G5 and pray or would it be a case of uninstalling all the software and starting a fresh (which would be a nightmare and very time consuming) i.e start with a fresh install of Tiger and go from there or just with the install 8 and then re-install the plugins
    TTFN
    Subcoustic

Back up the entire drive just in case.
Install Logic 8. Logic 7 will still be there, as will your plugins, you don't need to reinstall those, they are just AU plugins that Logic 8 will see.
If some plugins need to upgraded for Logic 8 because you're running very old versions, then you'll need to upgrade those, otherwise, it's not much of a biggy.

  • I need to upgrade the G4 to OS 10.5  Is this possible?

I am the director of a not for profit that just received the donation of an old PowerPC G4.
We use Office of Mac 2011 as our primary data software.  To install it on this computer I need to upgrade for OS 10.4 to OS 10.5.  Is this possible?  If so how would I do it?

Depends on exactly which PowerPC G4 you are using. More details as to the exact model would be helpful.
In order to upgrade to 10.5, you will need to purchase the Leopard install DVD. These are no longer available from Apple and are usually being sold for around $200 now.
This of course brings up the question of do you want to put that much money into that old of a Mac.

  • Why need to upgrade to 2007A PL42 before PL46?

    Dear Experts,
I'm just curious, why need to upgrade to 2007A PL42 before PL46. Is there any affect if we skip PL42, example from 2005A SP01 PL41 direct upgrade to 2007A PL46?
And if we need to upgrade to 2007A PL42 first, is it we need to upgrade the DB COMMON only, or the entire company database, example if got 10 company DB, is it we need to upgrade for 10 company DB to 2007A PL42 first before repeat the same process and upgrade 2007A PL46?
    Any help appreciate.

    Hi,
This note I got from SAP 2007A PL46 installation folder named "Patchreadme.pdf", and the caution point no. 3 mention this one : "Before running 2007 A patch 46 upgrade, customers who are running versions previous to 2007 A should upgrade to version 2007 A patch 42." That's why i'm curious whether can or not if we upgrade direct from version 2005A to 2007A PL46 , and is there any affectted.
In case have to upgrade 2007A PL42, what I mean is it can we just upgrade SBO-COMMON only to 2007APL42 and then continue upgrade to 2007APL46 again for SBO-COMMON and the entire 10's company db (10's company db did not upgrade to PL42, but direct to PL46 - save time).
Or, we need to upgrade SBO-COMMON & 10's company db to PL42, and then one more time upgrade SBO-COMMON & 10's company db to PL46?
Yes, there are only one sbo-common and 10 company db in sql.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • Please help, need to upgrade from 9.2.2 to osx 10.4 Tiger on imac g3 400 dv

Hello, I would greatly appreciate assistance to upgrade my operating system from 9.2.2 to osx 10.4.10. I have gotten the firmware upgrade installed to 4.1.9. Can anyone tell me what else I need to upgrade to have this computer able to install Tiger 10.4, on an imac g3 400 dv slot loading.....
Right now when I try to install the disc 10.4 using the option key at restart, it wont load the install disc. Any help would be appreciated , thank u in advance!!!!!!!

Hi, thank u for responding, my harddrive is 10 gigs, and my memory ram is only 64 megs, I ordered 2 512 mg from 18004memory.com and it didnt work , the computer said there was a memory issue. So I returned the memory back to 18004 memory.com...... I will neve ruse them again , because on their website they stated its guranteed to work and is compliant with imac 400 dv. They stated they will send me another set from another manufacturer, but to return the memory first.....
I know I meet all the requirements for tiger , except for the ram which apple says I need 256 mg,
But I was referring to any firmaware upgrades or bios upgrades or any of those type of programming upgrades to ready it for tiger, I know I installed the 4.19, and went from os 9.0 to its current 9.22, I think that alone was 5 upgrades. I think I might be missing an upgrade or maybe not. I will run the utility u posted and thank u for that.....
Apple told me that I can installl tiger 10.4.10 on this computer.
The install discs I bought on ebay state imac MAC osx install disc one and there is and install disc 2, it says AHT VERSION 3A127, and dated as produced in the year 2007. it colored grey , but doesnt have the black X like someone else posted it should have
Oh and it does open the files in 9.22, it does mount, and it does have folders,
Thank u for ur help as I progress to ultimately saving this imac....
    many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. After a few weeks the HDD failed. New Leopard install reports: "insufficient memory". I need Tiger install disks so I can install

I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard.
After a few weeks the HDD failed. I bought a new disk, installed it and trued to install Leopard, but the  install fails reporting "insufficient memory".
I assume the installation requires more memory than the OS actually needs to be able to run.
I need Tiger install CD/DVD so I can install Tiger first and then upgrade to Leopard.

Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.
You need much more RAM than that.

  • Do I need to upgrade from tiger to leapord before upgrading to snow leopord?

Do I need to upgrade from tiger to leapord before upgrading to snow leopord?

No. You can update directly to Snow Leopard.
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and later.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. Download and install update(s) if updating:
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).
    E. To upgrade from an earlier major version:
Purchase the requisite installer package (Snow Leopard for example.)
    Boot from the installer DVD.
    Choose the install option:
    None required for Snow Leopard.
Archive and Install for versions prior to Snow Leopard.

  • HELP! I Need to upgrade to OSX tiger

Hiya, I recently bought a new i pod classic, but found out after i opened it that I would need to upgrade to OSX 10.4.8 (my old i pod works fine on my current mac so didn't check). Details of Mac are as follows
    Machine Model: iMac
    CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 800 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 512 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.3.4f2
Anyway, i went into the Mac shop they said i couldn't upgrade to Lepoard as the mac was too old, but OS Tiger would work but they didn't sell Tiger anymore but I could get hold of them on ebay and that should work. So I managed to get hold of a OS tiger Version 10.4.10 and was told by the seller that this would work. Anyway it won't load, it keeps saying it won't install on this computer. Has anyone else had these issues and how did you manage to resolve it. if so does anyone know how to install it? thanks in advance!

Sounds like you were sold a Mac model specific disk. You've really been getting run around. Hopefully you can get your money back for that disk.
I guess you have to ask yourself how badly you want/need the new iPod. Can you still return it if you are not able to find the right Tiger install disk? I understand that some people are being charged extravagant prices these days for Tiger disks since Leopard has come out. May be a good time to take a step back and decide about how much upgrading you are willing to do and then to do so at your own pace.
    Good luck!
    Steve M.
Edit: Those Amazon prices are outrageous.

I had a 640GB HDD in my Early 2008 Macbook and it was just too much it would always freeze up the computer a bit for only a few seconds but ya. Then I realized that it was the size of the HDD that was causing it since the Early 2008 Macbook models can only handle a MAX od 500GB while the Early 2008 Macbook Pros could have a MAX of 640GB (Lucked out there!) lol But ya the Early 2008 Mocbooks can only handle a MAX HDD size of 500GB and that's it!! lol

  • I currently have iTunes version 7 and I need to upgrade to version 10.  I am afraid of losing all my music if I just download 10 and when I use the "Check for updates" in the version 7 help menu, it tells me the server cannot be contacted.

I currently have iTunes version 7 on my computer and need to upgrade to version 10 to sync my new nano iPod.  When I tried the "check for updates" under the version 7 "help" menu, it said it could not contact the update server.  I am afraid if I just download version 10 from the website, it will wipe out my music library.  What should I do to upgrade?

Back up your music and install from the website. You probably won't need to do this, but if your library is erased, restore it from the backup.
