Need "Timecode" Simulated Effect to Use In "Viewfinder" Video Effect.

Hi Everyone.
I am using the effect "Viewfinder" to simulate security-camera or camcorder footage.
To make it more realistic I want to include some simulated moving Timecode in the Viewfinder frame.
Ideally I would like to be able to alter the Timecode size and position in the Viewfinder.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Good work i5m. The counter works well and can add some meaningful digits to my simulated viewfinder.
It renders quickly on my equipment - about one second for every second of video.
I (and others) will also find it useful as an on-screen display in instructional videos where timing actions for the audience are relevant.
Now enough of the flannel - let's get to the shortcomings!
The hundredths of a second don't increase uniformly. Most do go up by four-hundredths for each PAL frame - as you would expect, but a few jumps are of 3 and 5 hundredths. I haven't examined it closely enough to find out why. However, this is not noticeable when played back in real time. It is only apparent when scrolling through the timeline frame by frame.
It just occurred to me that for editing/timeline use "frames" rather than "hundredths" might be more appropriate.
Anyway the whole thing is excellent and as I intimated a couple of months ago, I regard all those who can produce such things, as on a higher plane than the rest of we ordinary mortals.
So is there something I could read to get me started on experimenting for myself?

I'd take your two clips and set them up with a simple dissolve transition between the two using opacity with the blend mode set to alpha add. Next drop the comp with the dissolve transition into a new comp or select both layers and pre-compose. Now apply Effect>Stylize>Motion Tile and animate the tile center to complete the transition.

I have the Photoshop Elements 11 and when I use the stamp effect the image becomes totally black. It used to have my line drawing in white, now, just a black image. I need the stamp effect. also, most other effects simply crash the program.

Which operating system are you using?
Some filters like Filter>Sketch>Stamp need to have two different colors for the Foreground and Background set in the toolbox.
Press the D key to set the default toolbox color swatches to Black and White and then try the Stamp filter.
If your using mac os x 10.9 or 10.10, then some of the filters under Filter>Sketch will crash pse 11
They are Filter>Sketch>Comic, Graphic Novel and Pen and Ink
Otherwise resetting the pse11 editor preferences might resolve the crashing.
Go to Photoshop Elements Editor(Edit)>General, click on Reset Preferences on Next Launch and then restart the pse 11 editor

Zero-Based Timecode/After Effects

This is a question that can be solved for either FCP or After Effects, as long as I can get them to dispay timecode in the same way.
I'm putting together a video by doing basic cutting in FCP, then taking the individual DV clips into AE and doing working its magic there. I thought that after I do the cutting in FCP, all I would need to do is turn on Timecode Overlay, and then use those timecodes to lay the clips into AE as needed with the correct starting and ending points intact.
The problem is that FCP dispays Media-Based timecode (if you start a clip a minute into the tape, the first frame is 1:00;00), while AE give timecode as Zero-Based (first frame is always 0:00;00). This adds pain to my workflow, as I have to look at the beginning of each clip in FCP to see the timecode of the first frame and then do the math.
I've tried ctl-clicking on the timecode display in the viewer window (after opening the clip from the timeline) and switching between "clip time" and "source time," but nothing changes.
So, is there a way to get FCP to display Zero-Based timecode for an individual clip? Or to get After Effects to read the timecode embedded with the clip?

What do I need to connect my Mac Mini to a TV using the S-video jack?

Radio Shack didn't have anything in the store and suggested
that what I needed (something with an S-video connector

will give best results using the S-Video. Next best is composite video. If your TV set does not have either of these, you will need a RF modulator to connect to the TV antenna connector. For best results get a modulator that takes S-video. It should cost a lot less than $100.00 Radio Shack has one for $25

No matter what connection you use, a standard TV will not give you better than 640 x 480 resolution, so it will always be hard to read small text.

I do some VJ-type work, involving playback of QuickTime files from the computer to projections, and I get good results using ProRes 422. That's convenient, because ProRes 422 is such a great editing codec, too.
Traditionally, VJs use PhotoJPEG codec, which also works well, but it's a bad editing codec. So you would have to export an edited master, then convert.
If you want it to look as good as possible, definitely schedule some time to test the footage on the wall. You may want to change the color correction of your footage to match the projectors. And if you feed the video wall some flat gray, you can see if any of the projectors need to be adjusted.
I'm not sure what application you're using for playback, but QuickTime Player 7 works well. It has an option to play fullscreen on an external monitor (View > Present Movie…).

Unless you've done anything to change it, Google keeps every email that ever passes through their server in your All Mail folder/mailbox/label. Even if you delete stuff, they hold onto it, there. You have to go out of your way to actually delete anything permanently.

You can certainly use iWork, though I hesitate to recommend it to a seasoned Windows user simply because it would add another level of the unfamiliar with which you would have to gain familiarity. The iWork applications are certainly very competent and in most respects both easy to use and surprisingly powerful. They are not 100% compatible however, though that typically manifests itself in document formatting issues rather than anything more significant.
I have never attempted to import emails from a Windows system into MacOS - other than in Outlook connected to an Exchange server, thus not really an issue at all. I doubt that the Mail app in MacOS can import directly, but of course you could always set the account(s) up on the Mac and then forward emails you want to keep from the PC. Not elegant, but it works. Virtually any Windows document or file, whichever application created it, can be opened or converted for use on a Mac, and using both systems on my desk each day I rarely see any issues switching stuff from one machine to the other. You may stumble over one or two issues, but likely not significant.
In switching platforms there will be some inevitable issues, not so much with being able to import your stuff because there's usually a workaround or a utility that can help, but just with getting familiar with the platform and the differences between Windows and MacOS that can obscure their similarities. From time to time the support community here hears from a user who has found the migration very problematic and regrets it, but for the most part the phrase 'I should have done this years ago...' is rather more prevalent!

The whole story is a little bit confusing for me. So lets see what you wrote:

Thinking is wrong. What you need is exact info about recovery installation and this can be found in users manuals document. Recovery disc is not like Microsoft installation disc and cannot be used for repair. Recovery disc contains recovery image and can be used for clean OS installation (recovery image installation) only.

But why if you already have recovery disc that you have used at the beginning of the whole story?
What you need to do is to use this original disc for OS installation.
-start your notebook and press F12 several times to enter BOOT menu
-when the menu is shown put recovery disc into ODD
-select CD/DVD drive in the menu and press ENTER
-follow the menu on the screen
After recovery image installation you will have factory settings again and everything should be OK.

Your device can hold apps from multiple IDs, but to update them you have to swicth identities which is time consuming. If possible use only the one ID. If you need to reset the password for your old ID visit My Apple ID.

What are the video effects used in this video

I was just wondering if anybody could help me. I was intrigued to find out what kind of video effect is used in this video at 0:16 - 0:18 and if theres a name for this type of video and editing used throughout the video such as the continous stream of different videos etc.

Do you mean the distorted lips or the bad tv reception.
The distorted lips can be anything from Bulge to Mesh Warp to Liquefy.
The bad TV reception can be started with the Bad TV Effects Presets that comes with AE. You can modify or edit these as you like.
I know of no specific style name that goes along with any part of this video other than lazy. It looks like nobody had an idea of what they wanted to do so they just shot a bunch of stuff and threw every effect they had in their bag of tricks at the project. Turn off the sound and it's impossible to tell what it is about. I don't mean to be critical but there's not much original here that I haven't seen a zillion times going back to the Video Toaster days. (probably before you were born). It's nothing more than a bunch of quick cuts and jitter.
Load up about 100 layers, trim them do different lengths from 5 to 30 frames, Select half of them, apply Bad TV1 to that bunch, Apply Bad TV2 to the another 10 random layers. Add tint, bulge, to a few more. set a couple of position and rotate keyframes to a few more then add wiggle to those, then use the Keyframe Assistant to sequence the layers and you'll be pretty close. It should take you about 15 minutes.
If you've got a specific question about how they made this jitter or how they made time stutter ask away. If used to tell a story these techniques are all useful. If you just want to create a jarring montage then follow my suggestion in the previous paragraph then run Brainstorm a couple of times.
