Try unmounting the volume on your iMac using Disk Utility. Then mount it again. You may need to reboot the laptop or relaunch its Finder process (using the Force Quit window) after remounting the drive on your iMac. Remember that no process may be accessing any files on the drive you plan to unmount, or the unmount will fail. Unmounting and remounting an external drive on my iMac made it become visible on my MacBook Pro after it had disappeared.

All I wanted to do was take the serial number from my CS5 extended and install PS 5 on my new iMac (they don't have disc drives anymore). My serial number however is 20 digits and it doesn't work?? It comes up shy of numbers. Can someone explain how this can be possible? I refuse to rent CS5 when I already have a lisc. Thanks.

You need to get the serial number from your Adobe account at the corporate web site, once there go to "My Products". You can get the s/n from there.
Adobe applications show you intentionally truncated serial numbers, with only 20 digits as you noted. The full s/n are 24-digits long. This is done on purpose, so as not to encourage software piracy.

to crossgrade to CS6 (which is still available to purchase), or

Need to install Classic on a new iMac.

Since I've read everywhere that I need a machine specific install disc to install OS9 for classic , I'm worried that since there isn't a disc that comes with the new iMac machines that I won't be able to install Classic. Any ideas on how I could get the right disc or a disc that would work. Thanks for the help!

The original disks that came with the G5 iMac should have the ability to install Classic; it is done via a combination installer, rather than using a separate stand-alone disk.
