Need to adjust volume for 20+ tracks at once

Is it possible to slide the volume down for 20+ tracks all at the same time? If so, how???

I don't believe there is. I certainly haven't heard of anything like that.
You can lower the Master Volume and then raise the volume of the other 10 Tracks.
Or, if everything except the volume level is set on the 20 Tracks, you can export them as one (mute the other 10), then drag the file back in and it'll be one Track. Of course that could take as much time as adjusting each Track individually.

  • Adjusting volume for multiple QT clips

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it! I have about 100 5 or so minute QT clips at various volumes. They are a series of mini-tutorials for language learning. Most are about the same volume, but when some were recorded, the volume was much too high. I'd like to standardize the volume for all of them. None need volume boosting. Can QT batch adjust volume for multiple clips? Or is there some standard process so that the viewer isn't constantly adjusting the volume (apart from re-recording!).
    Thanks,
    Tony

Highlight all the clips you want to adjust, then press Apple "+" or Apple "-" to raise and lower the levels in increments of 1, and Apple "[" and Apple "]" to raise and lower the levels in increments of 3.
One of my favorite keyboard commands.

  • Adjusting Volume Levels in Track Volume Editor Question

I have started to experiment with the track volume editor available in the track mixer ...
I set some graph points and adjusted the volume of a track in various areas ..
    It all worked great ...
Then I noticed I did not have access to the track volume slider as it was dimmed out ...
With some good advice from hangtime I was able to undim the track volume slider .... but now I have not been able to progress from there ..
When I open the track volume editor of other tracks that have not been tampered with yet ... and move the track volume slider ... I can see the volume line move up and down ...
Now if I go back to the track that I have manipulated the volume ... and move the volume slider ... nothing happens to the volume line.
I am assuming that after you make adjustments in the volume editor you can no longer adjust the initial output line ... Is this correct ..? If so ... what is the point of undimming the blue button?
Also .. I'm kind of sure that I read somewhere that there is a key combination that will reset this volume line to unity .. at least that will let me start over again and give me access to the overall volume ...
    Thanks for any help ....

    Thanks for the reply ...
So you have to reset the line to enable the fader .... as I mentioned before .. isn't there a key command to do that .. rather than having to delete all the graph points ...?

  • Imovie 11 will not adjust volume of music track

So I put together a skit with background music and laugh tracks.  I shared a copy with a friend and he told me when he played it the volume of the background music and laugh track were too high.  I went back in and tried to adjust and even though I turned everything down (even to 0%) they still play at the same volume.  I have now removed all but the video clips. I removed any ducking and reverted back to the original settings.
Can anyone give me advice on how to make the adjustments?

I think I found my answer.. I searched the internet looking for information on this issue.. and apparently, you are not supposed to drag music to the timeline. You only drag it to the background... an unexpected software change that renders all of the previous work on my movies invalid. I am going to have to go back into all of them and re-do my music.
Sound effects (.CAF files) work on the timeline.
    Now.. I have another issue....
My stills in the movie are locking it up...
I have found clues that I have not yet investigated. It appears that you have to use iPhoto to organize your stills before you import them. We shall see if this works.
    As for versions...
    Identifier: com.apple.iTunes
    Version: 10.1 (10.1)
    Model Name: MacBook
    Model Identifier: MacBook4,1
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
And I have tried various music formats .mp3, .m4a, .acc and .m4p..
Few of these songs are iTunes purchases. Many are direct imports from my CD collection.. Some are downloads from other sources...
None of them will play when pasted to the timeline.

  • Adjusting volume for rear speakers in a 5.1 surround sound system

    Hi,
I have a basic Logitech X-540 5.1 sound system spakers. I am trying to point the rear speakers to where I'm sitting, but I cannot hear much from them except in certain songs or videos. I was wondering if there's any way that I can adjust the volume on the rear speakers so that I can hear them more?
    Thanks in advance.

Songs are stereo, so use the best upmixing method.
Notice the "1" for rear left & right - change that to e.g. 1.5, to be louder.

  • Adjusting volume for incoming calls - not the ringer

Just got a new 4S and although the "sounds" ringer is turned all the way up, I cannot hear people when they speak.  Is there a separate setting for incoming sound?

    Hello,
I would love to help you with this issue.
To change the volume of your caller's voice all you need to do is, when in a call, press the volume buttons. The top one to make it louder the bottom one to make it softer.
    I hope this helps!

    Jake

  • Adjusting Volume For Remote Speakers

Is there any other way to adjust the volume of my airtunes remote speakers other than dragging the mouse and sliding the volume knob on the upper left hand corner? My F3, F4, and F5 keys along with the volume control key by the time doesn't adjust the music from my airtunes, only for my powerbooks built in speakers, which aren't playing the music (as they shouldn't be).
Also, just a side note that Apple should add a sleep timer into iTunes since lots of people enjoy falling asleep to music.

Using the Command (Apple) key and up or down arrow should adjust the volume in iTunes when it is the active application. However, I use a Keyspan Remote (http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/urm17a/) to adjust my volume since my computer is in a different room when I'm in bed.
As to falling asleep to music I create a separate playlist that I drag about an hour of songs to and set to play when I go to bed.

  • Volume for similar tracks are different but..

I copied a  track.aif file and then created new tracks to paste that file into.
The same file with the exact same volume settings and pan settings a few times in one sequence.
Some of them have different volumes and I can't figure what is different about them. They are all the same file and settings.
Does anyone know of any pace where I can look for some secret setting that could have been set by accident?
Also, there are no plugins inserted into any of the tracks.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Post the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context.

  • Do I need 3G on iPad2 for GPS tracking?

I want to use iPad 2 as a GPS router. I think this could only be done with 3G with the iPad1. I believe this is not the case with the iPad2 (?). From what I understand, the 3G is now stricktly for internet connection through cel phone network. Am I correct?
    Tks

3G has nothing directly to do with GPS. It's just that the 3G model is the only one of to two to also have GPS hardware; the WiFi-only model does not. So if you want true GPS capability, you must have the  3G model of iPad (this is the same for the iPad 1 as well as the iPad 2).

  • Need to populate value for a KF only once for a combination of characterist

    Hello All,
We had a requirement for a report. wherein we need to consolidate the data of the 0FI_GL_4 datasource and a custom table.
both these sources have only 4 fields in common i.e Fiscal Year/Period; Company Code and Pool
in the custom table, for each fiscal yr/period & Pool combination, there is a unique Plan value available.
To consolidate the data, I wrote a routine in the transformation to extract data from the custom table based n the combination of Fisc yr Period, Comp Code & Pool.
However, since 0FI_GL_4 has more than 1 entry for the above mentioned combination  that is GL_accounts, document number, etc; during extraction, my plan value is being extracted multiple times to the cube and hence for a fiscal yr/period, cube shows a summation value.
I want the plan value to be picked only once.. please advice

    Hi Sneha,
As I understand in your infocube along with the primary key of custom table one more field exists e.g. Document number and due to which the value is getting repeated over multiple lines.
Though all these records are valid but when you are running report on this cube without document number all the plan values are getting aggregated, again this behaviour is also correct.
For your reporting purpost I feel that you need to extract data from the custom table in other data target and then do the reporting on that, wherein the plan value will not be repeated.

  • Garage band 10.0.2  adjust volume of prerecorded audio track

Just started with garage band 10.0.2.  So confusing compared to previous versions.  When I just want to work with prerecorded tracks I don't even know which of the canned options to choose.  Next I just want to adjust volume of those tracks.

To adjust the volume of a prerecorded track, drag the audio file to an empty spot of the track area, to create a new audio track with basic settings.
Then adjust the track volume slider:

  • Balancing audio levels for multiple tracks in PP CS6 ...

I have a relatively long home movie (1:50) with clips from multiple cameras dispersed throughout.   One of the camera's audio is far lower than the rest.    What is the easiest/fastest way for a consumer editor to get a reasonable result?  Doesn't have to be perfect, but eliminating the need to hold the TV volume button is the goal.   I'm guessing some of you out there have dealt with this issue a few times and can give me a boost.
I've seen some tutorial videos on using the Audio Mixer, but that appears to adjust volume for an entire track.   I suppose an option here is to manually move all of the quieter clips' audio tracks to a different track number and then use the mixer to adjust.   Trial and error I assume to get it right.
Another video I found shows balancing by pulling up clips one by one into Soundbooth and then processing them together.  I don't own Soundbooth unless it ships with CS6 and I didn't know to install it.  I like the concept though - some way to normalize (if the right term) the volume, although certainly I want some variance so that when someone is shouting or screaming the volume is still higher.
Other videos show adjustments to the volume level by dragging the little yellow volume line on a clip by clip basis inside the track display.   Easy enough, but if I end up deciding I want to make further adjustments I have to go back through all the clips again.   I suppose one advantage here is that those quieter clips sometimes run in batches so could use key frames.
    Feedback?

Just closing the loop here ...
I ended up doing the separate track and audio mixer volume adjustment with some individual clip gain tweaks.   Turns out one of my cameras was quiet and another loud, so I used three audio tracks in my movie, one for footage from each camera (luckily the two offenders were more limited).   The nice thing about this approach is that adjustments are easy to make across the board.
On the 6db volume gain, turns out that was enough.  Maybe someone has some input here, but I find that watching video on my TV with my surround sound system the volume levels are way more sensitive than my PC.   Ok, not 100% - there were a couple of clips where I upped the gain as well.
The gain adjustment and looking at the waveform diagram is very useful for getting an idea of what level of adjustment is required.   So I did make use of this feature to get feedback on how to adjust the volume level noted above.
If I was really serious, I would have done a bunch of marking key frames and adjusting the volume within the clips.   One of my cameras is really loud when the person filming speaks but the other subjects are much softer.  But I took an 80/20 approach and the movie is a little loud in some spots and a little soft in others, but not so much that I have to adjust the volume button.  It would be tedious to edit all the footage in this way.   Although I did make use of the key frames for some background music.
Needles: I was looking for a consumer level solution, although admittedly didn't investigate what you suggested.

  • Do I need a  separate volume.

My question, do you need a separate volume for Time Machine. or can data reside on the same volume as the backup.

Yes, I knew what you were talking about. I think the other person thought you were backing up your computer to your computer's hard drive, which Apple's Old back up software did, never understood that.

  • How do I copy artwork to iPod just once for an album, not for every track?

I don't download music. All my music is ripped from CDs that I own.
After I rip a CD, choosing "Get Album Artwork" from the Advanced menu normally works, and if not, I find the highest quality image I can from the web, and copy & paste that into the large box at the bottom left of iTunes.
It appears that iTunes stores the artwork image once for each track, not once for an album, so for example if an album has 10 tracks, the image is stored 10 times somewhere on my hard drive. This is inefficient, but not problematic.
However, when I (manually) select & drag-copy the resulting 10 tracks to my iPod, the artwork doesn't transfer along with the tracks. I then have to copy the artwork & having selected all the tracks on the iPod, paste it in. I have the "Manually manage music and videos" option selected, as I simply don't trust the automatic system. I want to supervise what is copied, when, and in what way. I don't necessarily want everything in my iTunes library on my iPod.
What concerns me is that for each album, the artwork image is stored repeatedly for each track on the iPod, like on my hard drive, not once for an album. As space will be at a premium on the iPod once I start copying more & more of my CDs across (I have only done 9 so far) the point will come where a large number of MB of space will be wasted on the iPod with duplicate artwork, which will mean that I'll be able to fit far fewer CDs on the iPod than would otherwise have been the case. The fact that I have chosen 192 kbps and the AAC Encoder for all my CD ripping also means that the iPod will fill up faster than if I'd used the standard 128 kbps and MP3 settings. I'm not prepared to go below 192 kbps though. My soon to be purchased Sennheiser CX500 earphones deserve that much!
Is there any way to force iTunes and the iPod to store the artwork only once for each album, and if there is, can this method be retrofitted to the CDs I've already copied to my iPod, or do I have to start again from scratch? I've already filled 670 MB with the 9 CDs, many of which are only 40 or 45 minutes long, so I'm already getting worried!
Alternatively, am I simply mistaken about all this? Does it only *look like* the artwork is duplicated, whereas it's actually only being stored only once?
    Many thanks.

    In reply to PT:
Why don't you paste the artwork to the track in iTunes first (fast) THEN send them over to your iPod?
I already do that. Every track has the correct artwork in place before I copy it to the iPod.
I ripped about another 10 albums yesterday. Most of the albums got their artwork automatically from the iTunes store. For a few I had to get artwork from the internet.
When I rip a CD, one of 3 different things happens:
    1. The album get its artwork automatically from the iTunes store, and then when I shift-click all the tracks and drag them to the iPod icon, all the artwork transfers along with the tracks.
    2. As per 1, except the artwork doesn't transfer when I copy the tracks to the iPod. I then copy the artwork from one of the tracks on the Mac, then shift-click all the equivalent tracks on the iPod, and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste.
    3. The iTunes store has no artwork for the album, so I copy the artwork from an image on the internet, shift-click all the tracks on the Mac, and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste. I then shift-click all the tracks and drag them to the iPod icon. They all copy across, but the artwork never does, so I then shift-click all the tracks on the iPod and right-click in the large box at the bottom left of the screen, and click on paste.
Pasting the artwork to the tracks, in either scenario 2 or 3 above, takes ages (often longer than copying the tracks themselves) and a progress bar appears, listing each track in order as the artwork is added to the track, accompanied by the spinning beach ball. The slowness is mostly down to using USB 1.1, but for a 20 track album, it appears that the iPod is storing the artwork 20 times, once for each track, not just once in total (for the album).
It appears that in scenario 1 though, the iPod is only storing the artwork once.
    In reply to Landon Dial:
well first you go to one track, right click and press get info. you go to where it says artwork, right click the image and press copy, then you exiit out of that. then you can press ctrl and select each song you want to have that artwork. if there highlighted then its working. then right click again and press get info. then go to artwork and press paste and it should have copied the image to all of your tracks
Thanks for your input, but you've completely misunderstood my question. I know how to add artwork to tracks. What I'm trying to figure out is how to force iTunes/the iPod to only store artwork once for each album, not once for each track, even if the artwork comes manually from me finding it on the internet, not automatically via the iTunes store.
    In reply to Chris CA:
When iTunes gets the artwork, there is only one copy on your computer.
That single artwork is linked with iTunes to each song on the same album.
When you add artwork yourself, it is copied directly into the ID3 artwork tag for each song. If you have a 200kB artwork file, each song will be 200kB larger.
From what you say it sounds like there's no way to force the issue then. If you have to paste in artwork yourself, then it's one copy per track, not one per album. A serious flaw which I hope Apple will address!
Using playlists is very easy to manage what goes onto your iPod.
That's true, but I don't really have any need for playlists. I want 95% of what's in my iTunes library copied across (complete albums, with artwork). It's the remaining 5% (the odd individual track, amusing audio files, and other odds & sods) that I don't want copied. Copying things manually suits me fine, and I wouldn't consider another method unless it solved the problem that this topic is about!

  • Volume curve for multiple tracks?

I'm just learning to score films with GarageBand. My first snag is that I want to be able to adjust volume curves on multiple tracks without affecting the audio track of the movie. Is this possible? It's kind of a bother to have to create control points for EACH track that are all identical and then having to adjust them individually. The Master Volume doesn't help, because the movie track follows it unless there's some way to lock it out. Thanks!
Also, any good tutorials out there for scoring movies with GarageBand?

    you can not.
the only workaround i can think of would be to create a volume curve on one track, and then duplicate that track as many times as needed, and drag the regions of your other tracks into these duplicated tracks.
