Need to allow pop-ups for a site

My bank has upgraded their website. I need to answer a question in a pop-up box to be able to use the website. Firefox blocks the pop-up box even though I have told it to allow pop-ups for the website.
How do I get it to allow the pop-up box or do I have to use IE?

I tried that. I also talked to the people who developed and maintain the site. They said it is not a pop-up window - it is part of the site. Since it showed when I tried Internet Explorer they think it is a problem with Mozilla Firefox or my web connection. They asked me to try accessing it with my computer at a public place that offers free Internet.

  • I need to allow pop-ups for an up coming webinar,it says Firefox is blocking them how do i fix this?

It was from a visualwebcaster.com, and my security settings aren't on for pop-ups

You can "allow" a site under
    Tools > Options > Content
using the first Exceptions button on the right.
But popups also can be blocked by some toolbars as a bonus feature. You may want to check their options. I'd especially check security software bars such as McAfee.
Even if a toolbar is not normally displayed full time, it still could be active. You can use View > Toolbars to display it and check its features.

  • My pop-up blockers stays on, but when I would click something a pop-up a bar would come across asking if I wanted to "allow pop-ups for this site" or view a specific block pop-up. I accidentally clicked on "do not ask again". How do I get the bar back?

My Firefox is set up to delete cache, and all history upon closing. But when I restarted my Firefox, or manually deleted everything, nothing worked. Is there a way to reset these? Or do I have to completely uninstall and reinstall Firefox? Even that might not work though.

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q= and then click OK.<br><br>
    #Close the tab
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
    * Click the Firefox button, go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br>

  • I can allow pop-ups from certain sites in Tools/Settings, why then can I not also block pop-ups from certain sites since Firefox doesn't always manage to block them?

Whenever I visit, for instance, merriam-webster.com an ad from groupon invariably pops up in a new window.
OK, so Firefox does not manage to block it although I have this option checked in Tools/Settings/Content.
But why can I not enter the URL of the groupon ad and manually block it?
I can allow pop-ups from sites of my choice in Tools/Settings/Content, I think I should also be able to block sites?

how do i permanently block pop ups for certain sites

    According to this thread > http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f65/blocking-individual-web-sites-on-safa ri-226175.html
You can use the Terminal app to block individual sites but be aware, unless you are familiar using Terminal, best to click your Apple menu  (top left in your screen) then click Block Pop-Up Windows from the drop down menu instead.

  • Modify about:config and allow pop ups for multiple systems

    What I need to accomplish:
    security.mixed_content.block_active_content = False
    Allow all pop-ups from salesforce.com
I need to do this for 70 computers within my domain.
To modify about:config, I've tried editing user.js (I had to create the user.js file as it did not exist in my profile folder) using the batch file below.
    Batch File to edit user.js
    cd /D "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.default"
    echo user_pref("security.mixed_content.block_active_content", "false");>>user.js
I've read that the permissions.sqlite file can be edited to allow the pop ups, is there a way for me to edit that from a batch file?
Are these modifications possible without having to visit each user?

You can also use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to specify new (default) values for refs.
Place a local-settings.js file in the defaults\pref folder where also the channel-prefs.js file is located to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
These functions can be used in the mozilla.cfg file:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

I don't know of a way to easily modify the permissions.sqlite file to add an allow pop-up exception.<br />
You would need an SQLite manager program that accepts command line input to add such a record.<br />
The main problem would be to get the ID value to be used.
    *INSERT INTO "moz_hosts" VALUES ("<id>","www.salesforce.com","popup","1","0","0","0","0");

  • When I go to my safari settings I cannot turn off my "Block Pop-ups for a site.  It is stuck in the on position.

I have certain websites that use popups that I need to be able to use.  When I go to Safari settings I cannot turn of the "block pop ups" setting.  It is grayed out and only in the on postion.

You will need to have the hold switch replaced.

  • I added exceptions for the pop up blocker but most of the time it still does not allow the pop ups for the sites I listed as exceptions

the pop up blocker is inconsistent. i added websites to the exceptions list but most of the times when i load firefox it does not allow the exceptions...sometimes it does but i can't find any reason or consistency as to why it sometimes allows them and sometimes doesn't. They are clearly listed on the exceptions option.
    What is wrong?

  • Pop-up blocking exception doesn't allow pop-up for banking site

I have entered an exception web address and selected 'allow', but the pop-up is still not allowed. Internet Explorer has no issue, so I figure it's not my virus protection.
I do not understand what Firefox is looking for.

The following article includes information about the pop-up blocker and some troubleshooting steps. Please read that article, I believe it will help you get this issue resolved.

  • How to allow pop-ups in Safari for all users

How do you allow Safari pop-ups for all users? After rolling out 50 Mac OSX with Safari comes default with Safari pop-ups disabled, now I must allow pop-ups for all users logging in.
    Good day!

Do you have an Exchange (e.g. a work) email account set up on the iPad ? If you do then it's possible that the account profile is preventing you turning popups 'on', in which case you would need to contact the email account administrator

  • Will not load local web-page and will not allow pop-ups

does not work with local web pages
will not load local files with basic HTTP HREF
have to specifically add file:/// to all addresses
will not allow pop-ups for local files

You need to access the files via http://localhost/ if you want to set an exception.

  • How do I configure my safari browser to allow pop-ups?

How do I configure my browser to allow pop-ups from testing websites?

whoa, whoa, whoa, part of the problem is that there is no indication that a pop-up is occurring or that it's being blocked like I just learned at Hertz.com. So it just looks like a legitmate pop-up fails since the default is to disable pop-ups (actually it looks like nothing). I don't want to always allow pop-ups for every website. I want to be prompted or notified when it happens - to allow for a good site (going forward) and block or be notified for all the other sites. Global on or off is not a great way to go, imho.

  • Weird one of those "allow" pop-up for less than a second, keeps coming up periodically....what is this?!

I am getting a weird pop up, it happens after i log in and then periodically as i am on my computer. Not at any time in particular, happens as I am surfing the web or using applications like iphoto. Its one of the pop ups that would come up to allow something, but its only up for maybe half a second, i can just make out the yellow caution sign that shows up on the allow pop ups for things. I tried downloading a virus software for mac and checking for viruses but couldnt find any. A bit stumped as to what this could be?
Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated.

Yes it occurs when I am not using a browser, although I am not sure entirely if safari was quit or not however it has occured even when I don't have one open
I only have the one account, I just put the login on because I won't be using my computer all summer. So other than the guest account there is just my main one, and from what I remember it began happening before I did this
I have not tried booting in safe mode...although it would be hard to tell because I never know when it is going to pop up
