Need to authorize
New OS on computer. Just downloaded Adobe Digital Editions again and it will not let me authorize my computer with my account. I don't want to have to o get a whole new email address just to use my kobo!
Yes. A computer needs to be authorized to play music purchased from the iTunes Store to transfer the music to an iPod, except for iTunes Plus music which isn't protected by DRM. The computer doesn't need to remain authorized, but if that iPod is synced from the computer while it isn't authorized, the DRM protected music will be erased from it.

I am trying to downloadapps onto the iPad we just purchased, and it keeps telling me that I need to authorize my computer. I go ahead and authorize by going into iTunes/store/authorize computer, I verify the information that is given. I go back and try to redownload the apps and I get the same exact message, this computer is not authorized for this device. What am I doing wrong?
I have been trying to work through this problem by myself and have so far downloaded the most current version of iTunes. Frome there when it tells me I have to authorize this computer, I had to not put in the iPad information, I had to authorize with my current iTunes information, and any iPad or iPod, iPhone information. I have several people in the family that have different accounts, so I had to authorize each and every individual account because I didnt know which apps or music was purchased under which user. Hope this helps others.... Good luck!!

I want to play a song I bought but when I press play it says I need to authorize my PC but when I put in my Apple ID it says its already authorized. What should I do to be able to play the song?
Delete and redownload it if doing so is free in your country.

I am trying to play a song I bought and it is saying I need to authorize my computer to use it with a very old id that I no longer use for apple. How do I get all my music back?
You need to authorize the computer with that specific Apple ID. If that account's inaccessible, delete the song and then purchase it from your current Apple ID, or click here and ask the iTunes Store staff for assistance.

Hello there, HelpMePlease117.
There is a good Knowledge Base article that helps resolve authorization issues you might want to look over:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases

Any one of the steps listed there should help you get to the bottom of your issue and resolve it for you.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us. -
My laptop crashed completely and I need to authorize a new laptop to enable it sync with itunes. I have 5 computers authorized so I am unable to add another one so I need to unauthorize the bad laptop that is no longer working. How do I authorize new Laptop?
You can only deauthorize everything to do that. Click on Account under Quick Links. You can deauthorize all five there. But you can only do this once a year.

I recently installed iTunes on my new HP laptop computer, authorized it according to the instructions, but now can't get past a screen that tells me that I need to authorize the computer. I purchased an album and it's in the library, but it won't sync.

I need to authorize my computer to my itunes account
i need to authorize my new computer to my itunes account and im not sure how to do that
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -

I have so many charges that just came in this morning, I have tried multiple times to get in touch w/ Apple by chat, online and phone with absolutely NO LUCK. I purchased a stupid game for my 5 year old, but somehow I have $300 in charges this morning.. Who can I get in touch with? I thought that you needed additional authorization to charge anything else? If I cannot get help, I will cancel all of our iTunes and everyone can buy a gift certificate with $10 on it for all future use.
Does anyone have a phone number where I can talk to a live person? or a chat that actually works? You can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption. The contact methods that are available vary by country (and possibly by time of day), but you might get options on that page.
You can turn off in-app purchases on your iPad via Settings > General > Restrictions > In-App Purchases 'off', and depending upon what version of iOS that you have on it you may have a Require Password option on the Restrictions screen that you can set to 'Immediately' (there is a default 15 minutes during which it doesn't need to be re-entered). -
