Need to be able to block area codes or allow only from specific ones

One of my numbers is receiving calls from several soliciters from Oregon, and all are robo dialing applications that you cannot ask to be removed from.  Since, I don't know anyone from Oregon, I would like to block the whole area code.
I am also on the do not call list, which apparently does not work.  And this is a wireless phone number being solicited.
I consider this is a serious privacy issue.
Entering numbers one at a time will not work, and I'm afraid the default limits of 90 days and 10 callers is poor customer service on Verizon's behalf.  I know, I can double that number for a mere 4.99 a month (sarcasm).  Seems like Verizon is profiting off illegal phone scams if you ask me.

What is it with phone companies? Since the days of Ma Bell and AT&T they have consistantly the very worse in customer service.
Your request to block an entire area code is exactly what is needed to stop all these telemarketing calls from scum who refuse to honor the do not call list. I am computer programmer, it would be very easy to accomplish a block such as this yet Verizon does not seem to offer this.
I get up to  3 a day sometimes from area code 503 on either credit card rates or home security. I am tempted to claim to want the home security product just to get one of them at my door and let them see my .357 home security system while I call the police.
This is harassment pure and simple yet the phone companies seem to keep selling lines to these vermin and ignoring those of us paying exorbitant monthly fees.

  • How do I block Area Code 350 and other non-USA or invalid area codes?

Spam calls are becoming more prevalent, despite being on the donotcall registry.  I would like to block invalid area codes, non-USA area codes, and accept only calls from 10 digit numbers in valid US area codes.  Can someone explain how to do this?  If it cannot be done, where is Verizon's suggestion box?  Thanks.

I'm very sorry to hear you're receiving all of those bothersome calls. I know they would be annoying me so I can only imagine how you're feeling about them right now! Although we do not offer any service to block a specific area code we do have a service called FamilyBase that can stop any international calls. You can read all about FamilyBase right here: http://vz.to/1wZBulX

  • Need an online number for local area code 606 for ...

I need an online number for my local area code 606 Morehead Kentucky.
There are several cities surrounding mine with local online number options
but not Morehead, Kentucky. If it is possible, please add Morehead to your list
and I will purchase an online number. Thank you for your attention.

But couldn't figure out what to chose among 13 choices listed as New York City Zones 3 through 15.  Is there a difference in the Zones? I notice they all have the same area code - 347.
There are some subtle differences, related to how local phone calls are billed for callers in New York City.  It would not affect how the Online Number works for you - you are not charged for incoming calls made to Skype's Online Numbers, when you answer those calls with Skype.  For those calling you, it can mean the difference between a free call to your Online Number and having to pay a small fee to call your number.  For someone calling from outside the New York City area, it probably doesn't matter which of those zones you use for your Online Number.
I have not found a good concise online reference to those calling zone in the past.  I have found some rather cryptic material that shows which prefixes in each of the New York City area codes are in each of those zones.  The zones are defined by lists of prefixes within each of those area codes, and those lists can be substantial with the growth in mobile phones over the years.

  • How can I block IMAP access to allow only 1 external IP and all LAN IP's

I have a PostFix/Dovecot Standard OSX server setup and functioning perfectly, but I need to make a pretty major tweak.
Here is some background : I have 1 network connection that connects to the LAN and provides connection to the email server over the local LAN. I also have a satellite office that has access to the email server offsite over the internet on a different network connection.
What I want to do is limit IMAP access to the server so they cannot access the email server from home, smartphone, or any other device. I only want them to be able to access their email from work.
So I have a long list of local IP's 192.168.56/23 and one External IP 1xx.x.x.x I want to make sure has access to send and receive mail.
I have been researching this and it looks like the config has to take place in dovecot since that is the imap server, but I am a novice at dovecot. I would love to just turn off the imap port from the firewall but that would block the satellite office and they would be unable to connect
Anybody out there able to lead me in the right direction?

I'd go out on a limb here and suggest that your best solution lies in setting up a VPN between the main and satellite offices. That way the remote office can share whatever resources you like in the main office without fear of opening services to unwanted users.
Failing that, your next best option is some kind of policy/access control at your firewall/router. This may range anywhere from trivial to next-to-impossible depending on the make/model of your firewall/router.
If your firewall/router can't do it then you could run a software firewall on your server, with access controls for the IPs you want to allow/block, but it's a poor option IMHO.
Unfortunately there's no support for this kind of thing in dovecot itself, which is why you need to look further up the network for solutions.
It's also worth mentioning that restricting dovecot access will do nothing for who can connect to your server to send mail. Dovecot is only concerned with end-user access to their mailboxes (e.g. IMAP) and has no bearing on who can submit messages to the server. For that you need to understand Postfix's configuration and access controls, but it's highly unlikely you want to restrict incoming SMTP to specific addresses only since that would prevent other domains' mail servers from sending you mail.

  • I need to be able to select multiple emails and foward them in one email

I have to foward emails; however, only current way is one at a time.  I need to be able to select <n> emails, and then forward them to one or more people- but they want only one email with the other emails appearing in email as attached documents that they open by selecting one of the emails sent to them- need arisen as need to be reimbursed for business trip and they do not want multiple emails- only one email.  I only havevan iPad and could do this crummy Outlook but can figure out how to do on iPad...

Well, just remember, this is only the second generation iPad and tablets are not really a true replacement for a fully functioning computer.  As they evolve over time, more and more functionality will be built in.........

  • 1+area code and phone

When I add numbers or search from Google maps all phone numbers are coming up 1 + area code and phone number. Is there a way to turn off the "1+" and just have area code and phone number?

In areas that have more than one area code for the same geographic area, 10 digit dialing with area code is mandatory. 1+ dialing is required from land lines, but the 1+ is optional from mobile phones.
"What is an Area Code Overlay?
An overlay is the addition of another area code to the same geographic region as an existing area code. An overlay does not require customers to change their existing area code.
What Will be the New Dialing Procedure?
To complete calls from a landline phone, the new dialing procedure requires callers to dial 1 + area code + telephone number. This means that all calls in the 310 area code that are currently dialed with seven digits will need to be dialed using 1+ area code + telephone number.
To complete calls from a cellular or mobile phone, callers may dial the area code + telephone number or 1 + area code and telephone number whenever placing a call from a phone number with an overlay area code."
Since it doesn't matter using a mobile phone, I guess the databases have included the 1+ for completeness and all users (mobile and land line) can be accommodated.

  • How to refund and change an area code

Dear Sir, I have signed up to an online number 2 days ago however I now discover I need to change it to another area code in the UK. I can see from other threads that you need to cancel the old number and set up a new one. How do you do this ? And what do these numbers cost per month ? I have unlimited Europe subscription and have 2 online numbers.

There is one requirement in which we have to add some condition in the Concurrent Program. But the Type of that concurrent Program is ,"Spawned ".

  • Change Area Code But Keep Number After Moving

I moved from Tennessee to Louisiana a few years ago and opted to keep my Tennessee phone number to make it easy for my friends back home to keep in touch.  Circumstances have changed and I now need to change to a Louisiana area code.  I would like to minimize the inconvenience for my contacts by changing the area code only.  I have checked to see if my number with the Louisiana area code is available and it is.  Will Verizon allow me to make this change?

    Hello StangSalie,
I do agree that would be great if that could be done.  However, We are unable to search for specific numbers.  You will provide your desired area code and a list prefix options will populate ex. XXX-XXX.  The last four digits of the number are not present until you confirm you would like to change the number.  Therefore, we can try to get as close as possible, but there is no way to enter in the desired number you would like.  You can look at the prefix options on your MyVerizon site as well by signing in and navigating to Account>Plan.  I hope this helps you.

You can buy the iPhone anywhere. When you activate it, you will fill out all the information for area code and such on your computer.
I bought mine in NYC and activated it in NYC, but I live in SE Michigan. I was, however, already an ATT/Cingular customer.

  • If I do a clean install on my MacBook Pro will I be able to re-install apps (FCP, Aperture, MS Office etc.) from a Time Machine backup, or will I need the original install DVDs with authorization codes?

    I have two questions...
    1) If I do a clean install on my MacBook Pro will I be able to re-install apps (FCP, Aperture, MS Office etc.) from a Time Machine backup, or will I need the original install DVDs with authorization codes? (because I don't have them)
    2) Has anyone ever seen anything like this before on their computers?
The Apple Genius' were stumped by my laptop issues and said they'd never seen anything like it before and recommended I did a clean install. Below you can see my trash bin, and if you look at the "Empty" button it reads "N201" and then there's the "N39" to the left of it. You can also see these numbers over by the folder area--"SD5, SD6, SD7." But that's not all...
When I right click on items I see the numbers again. Instead of "Open with" I get "N152" and there's an "N35" and "LB1" towards the bottom.
I have no idea what's going on so I'm just going to do a clean install on my machine but I don't want to lose my apps. I don't have the original install DVDs for them anymore. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

You don't lose them.  You can always redownload them from the app store after you log back in with your Apple ID.
    "Buy, download, and even redownload.
You can install apps on every Mac you use and even download them again. This is especially convenient when you buy a new Mac and want to load it with apps you already own."

  • Consultants not able to run T-Codes even after profiles are assigned.

    Hello Everyone!
I'm trying to maintain authorization profiles for SAP Functional Consultants. I want it so that QM Consultant has authorization for using all QM T-Codes & can do only QM Customization, same for SD, MM and so on...
For this I've maintained a profile for MM in SU02-added all MM related objects, and have activated it.
But once I assign it to a user he's neither able to use the basic T-Codes like MM01-2-3 or ME21-2-3n nor able to do advanced customizations.
Is there a catch I'm missing here?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Tejasav Kalra

    Hi,
As you are on ECC6 I really wouldn't waste time with profiles.  I'm not sure what your profile design looks like but you'll need transaction start auths (S_TCODE) along with the auth objects.  [For those newbies out there, once upon a time S_TCODE didn't exist as a check and everything was provisioned through a limited subset of auth objects granting access to functionality areas]
Use PFCG to achieve this as with SU24 configured you will (usually) get the right auth objects pulled through into your role when you add a menu transaction.
While it would be best to start from fresh using a role, you could do as previously recommended and import your profile into a role and then pick up maintenance from there.  It will be messy but one step better than chopping about with profiles.

  • Permanently blocking a caller regardless of the "area code"

Hello.  I can't seem to find anything similar to this in the archives.  There is a pest caller calling me that has a number very similar to my own, only the last 2 digits are different, the rest looks like my phone number.  Originally they started calling me with the area code the same as mine, but I was able to block them and get rid of them for a while but they just start up again with a different area code.  Same phone number though.  Today they called about 6 times within an hour and while I don't answer it, they just try again  within a few minutes.  Is there a way to block these annoying calls by phone number regardless of the area code the call looks like it is coming from?  Obviously they are spoofing the number.  I'm only able to block 10 phone numbers through the support page, and my phone doesn't have a blocking feature.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks about nomorobo.com.  I use that, and it blocks (with a single ring) many robocallers, but not this one.  The latest area code is 406 and looking that up it appears to be a cell phone caller.  By the way, I work as a contractor for the FTC and the Do Not Call list, so I try to report every robocaller and telemarketer and urge others to do the same.  It's just this pesky one with a phone number almost the same as mine that keeps changing only the area code to get past my blocks.  I'm going to report this one, too, again.  Maybe the FTC is getting a lot of these and will look into them, but I know it isn't an overnight solution for them to investigate, but I know for a fact that they do.
    Thanks for the reply!
