NEED to BUY a TV stand (Toshiba Regza 41")

Help!  I'm moving and won't be taking the entertainment center, that doesn't require a stand.  I've called around, including to Toshiba and can't find a stand to save my life.  It should be the butterfly looking one.
Any ideas?

Have you tried calling both Toshiba Direct and support?

There is no such thing as an Apple hard drive, ...Apples doesnt make same.
    avoid western digital if possible.
Yes, having an external HD is necessary for data backups and keeping large media files for packing around etc.
    you need data redundancy.

Hitachi is the winner in hard drive reliability survey:
Hitachi manufacturers the safest and most reliable hard drives, according to the Storelab study. Of the hundreds of Hitachi hard drives received, not a single one had failed due to manufacturing or design errors. • Mac Mini on Toshiba Regza Z3030 42" via DVI- HDMI

    Hello,
I'm trying to connect a Core2Duo Mac Mini (running 10.4.11) to a 42" Toshiba Regza Z3030 Full-HD TV via a DVI-HDMI cable. The TV does 1920x1080 (both i and p), but when I select 1920x1080 (interlaced) from the display resolution menu in System Preferences, I get a black frame around the image that is twice as large on the right side of the picture than it is on the left or top/bottom sides (so even if I enable overscan, the picture is not acceptable, as it's missing a strip of the desktop on the left, top and bottom sides then).
I'm running the TV on "Exact Scan" mode, which (according to the manual), should display a 1080 signal exactly the way it is received from the source, no stretching or scaling at all.
Incidentally, the grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning progress indicator fills the screen completely in 1080i, but as soon as the login panel comes up, the picture gets the black bars, so I think it's a MacOS X issue. Can I somehow tell the Mac not to switch the display settings after the booting process is finished, as the image during the boot process is perfect?
Any hints on what I could try?
    Thanks in advance,
    Georg

Ok, I decided to take some more time and googled for how SwitchResX actually works and what all the settings in the "custom resolution" view mean. I stumbled across a very useful tutorial in this forum thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=751713
Following these instructions (basically, I just had to play with the "front porch" and "back porch" parameters until the image was perfectly centered), I ended up with a custom resolution in which the image is centered, but still has black bars around it.
Next, I simply turned on "Overscan" in the Display preferences while setting the TV's HDMI port input to "Exact Scan", meaning it will display the image exactly the way it comes over the HDMI port, without extra scaling.
With this combination, I now ended up with a picture that fills the whole screen and has (according to a test image) a "1 to 1" pixel mapping. Also, for some reason, this new resolution that I made myself rather than taking the values off the internet "sticks" between sleep and wake cycles as well!
For some reason, though, the TV only reported that it supports 50Hz vertical sync in 1080p when I used the "Export DDC" function in SwitchResX, even though according to the manual it also does 60Hz (and the default 1920x1080, 60Hz resolution from the Display preferences works as well). Therefore, I was only able to make my custom resolution for 50Hz, as I need the values from the DDC export as a starting point.
I only want to use this Mac Mini/TV combination as a media center for movies and music streaming via iTunes, so I guess it won't make any difference wether I'm running it at 50Hz or 60Hz?
Anyways, I hope this thread might help other people with the same TV who are having similar problems with their Mac Minis.

  • Connected hp g56 notebook to toshiba regza tv but no sound..please help! : )

Hi, I'm trying to connect my g56 notebook to my tosiba regza tv.
I have managed to get the picture fine using a vga cable but with no sound. After a bit of research and asking questions i was told to get a jack to rca (red and white) cable , connect the jack to my headphone port on the laptop and the rca to the corresponding ports on the tv. Did this and there's still no sound coming out of the tv!
Do i need to download a special driver or something to make the sound come out of the tv or is it better to go buy an hdmi cable?
Any advice would really be appreciated!!
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
A VGA output is only capable of carrying a video signal - I would strongly suggest what you mention yourself and get an HDMI cable to connect to your TV.  There's no need to buy a top end cable, just a stanadard HDMI cable is fine - I've never found any difference in the output quality.

  • Do I need to buy an old version of Crystal Reports to put reports in browse

    Hello,
I am doing some work for a small company of about 40 people.  They need reports.  Of course, I love using Crystal Reports and can create all the reports they need.
However, there is an application written in Excel using Userforms that is in place now.  I was thinking of adding the old rdc from the past and let the users see their reports on a Userform.
As another option, I was thinking of putting the report in a html page in a browser and let the Excel Userform just have a link to the URL where the html page will show the reports.
Then I found out, the rdc is no longer being shipped.  Crystal Server is way to expensive for the small need now.
How do you put Crystal Reports into a browser for the users to see?  Do I need to buy something like the old Crystal Reports 10 that still had the rdc?
I just want to have a central place that my users can go to and pull up their reports.  Doesn't need to be fancy.  My reports will be fancy enough.
    Thanks.

I think your best option is to discuss your needs with sales. From tech support stand point there are options such as the win based Crystal Reports viewer, web based CrystaReports.com (http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/reporting-dashboarding/reporting/index.epx), custom apps using the RDC in win or web apps (you'd need CR XI r2 which I believe is still available. I don't think CR 10 is...). And of course, custom apps using .NET or Java.

  • Toshiba Regza 42rv530u - no picture

Hey all...was hoping you could assist me with an issue. My Toshiba Regza 42rv530u flat screen recently stopped displaying an image. The TV functions fine otherwise - meaning that I can turn it on and flip through cable channels and hear the shows playing, I just can't view anything - the screen is just black. The LED is a steady green. Does anyone know what the issue could be, or could you point me in the right direction? I'm trying to see if this is a quick, cheap "do it yourself" fix or if I should just get a new TV. Thanks in advance. Jason

I'd first try turning it off and unplugging it from power for a few minutes. Afterward, reconnect the power and try again. If the problem persists, it would seem to be a hardware issue. You'd need to seek servicing. Unfortunately, I'm unable to recommend a home repair.

  • Toshiba Regza fades to black

I have a 42" Toshiba Regza about five years old.  Recently, when I turn it on the picture shows for a second and then fades to black.  The audio still works during this time.  I turn it off and on a few times and finally the picture stays.  Anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?  I've unplugged and replugged everything with no luck.  Thanks!

I'm not sure what would cause this, but you may want to reset the TV to factory settings if that's an option in the menu. Then (even if it isn't an option), turn the TV off and unplug it from power over night. If the problem persists, it may need servicing.

  • Can I install/buy a Flash Catalyst plugin and run it on CS3 or would I need to buy Flash CS5 too?

I use CS3 in my company and they're not prepare to spend more money on a whole new adobe package. I'd love to use the advantages of catalyst but not sure I can just puchase it on its own or f I need to buy Flash CS5 too. any help?

Flash Catalyst is available as a stand alone product. However without CS5 versions of Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, you will be unable to do any visual round tripping of the assets. Also you might need Flash Builder to extend your work beyond the capabilities of FC.

  • Do I need to buy a new external HDD for my Air?

I currently have a 2T External HDD that I have been using with my Windows computer. However, I am having problems using it with my MacBook Air - for example, I can't create new folders on the external HDD when using the Air. I read somewhere that "Mac OSX does not write to NTFS disks" (whatever that means) and that I'll need to "reformat the drive to either Fat32 or HFS" (again, I don't know what this means). I don't want to reformat the drive if that will cause me to lose the files that I already have on my external HDD. So, do I need to buy a new external HDD to use with my MacBook Air?

You CAN with the program PARAGON, however its a bit too much effort, .....external HD are cheap as dirt.
    A nice 2TB  2.5" external is $117
I read somewhere that "Mac OSX does not write to NTFS disks"
It CAN, but with another APP as mentioned PARAGON
You dont have to reformat anything,.....options are PARAGON, or another HD (the easy way).
You dont have to buy another HD, however having 2 archives of your vital data you dont dare lose is important.

    FORMAT TYPES
    FAT32 (File Allocation Table)
Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
    Maximum file size: 4GB.
    Maximum volume size: 2TB
You can use this format if you share the drive between Mac OS X and Windows computers and have no files larger than 4GB.
    NTFS (Windows NT File System)
    Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
To Read/Write/Format NTFS from Mac OS X, here are some alternatives:
For Mac OS X 10.4 or later (32 or 64-bit), install Paragon (approx $20) (Best Choice for Lion)
Native NTFS support can be enabled in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is not advisable, due to instability.
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support NTFS
    Maximum file size: 16 TB
    Maximum volume size: 256TB
You can use this format if you routinely share a drive with multiple Windows systems.
HFS+ ((((MAC FORMAT)))) (Hierarchical File System, a.k.a. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Don't use case-sensitive)
    Read/Write HFS+ from native Mac OS X
Required for Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! backups of Mac internal hard drive.
To Read HFS+ (but not Write) from Windows, Install HFSExplorer
    Maximum file size: 8EiB
    Maximum volume size: 8EiB
You can use this format if you only use the drive with Mac OS X, or use it for backups of your Mac OS X internal drive, or if you only share it with one Windows PC (with MacDrive installed on the PC)
    EXFAT (FAT64)
Supported in Mac OS X only in 10.6.5 or later.
Not all Windows versions support exFAT.
    exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table)
AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support exFAT
    Maximum file size: 16 EiB
    Maximum volume size: 64 ZiB
You can use this format if it is supported by all computers with which you intend to share the drive.  See "disadvantages" for details.

Is the smart keyboard on the ipad2 sufficient for email purposes or do I need to buy an external keyboard? Also, does the ipad2 have dictation capability?

the iPad 2 does not have dictation, but there are apps out there for that. Dragon Dictation is one of the more popular ones.
As to the keyboard, it's a personal thing. SOme love it and never need an external one, others can't stand the on screen keyboard. Hand size, dexterity, etc, all come into play. (I got an external simply because it bugged me to have to toggle to another screen or hold down a key to get a ' )

need to buy a replacement key for A100-147 but need the part number ,
    can you help! thanks

    Hi
You can get just the whole keyboard.
As far as I know its not possible to replace the keyboard key of course you can remove the key cap but if you have some mechanical key problems, the cap replacement does not help you so you need the keyboard and the compatible parts can be ordered from Toshiba service in your country.

  • HP Pavilion Elite E9120F running hot, what fan do I need to buy. It is running at over 90 degrees

My desktop HP Pavilion E9120F began to run hot, fan was coming on very slow, I cleaned really good, was a bit dusty.. I think this may have caused the problem. It is not running at 90 degrees farenheit. I replaced the video card so I could run video programs thinking that would fix it, didn't. I am wondering do I need to buy a new fan to keep the temp down or is my CPU damaged and can't be fixed? I can still run my programs but CPU gets to 100% and it never gets under 78 degrees. Help I don't know if I should just buy new fans or what?

If this is your CPU, it's range is 55°C - 71°C.   Here is how to measure a fan

What do I need to buy in order for my IPod Classic 160 GB to connect with my blue tooth Ultimate Ears Boom speaker?

Upgrading RAM and your HD will give you some performance gains, but depending on what you are doing, it may not be enough. Your best friend will always be processor speed. This has a direct relation to how many cores and the speed of the RAM.
However, if you are unable to spring for a new computer, then the options of running more RAM and a biggger, faster HD should ruduce some bottle necks.
Here is a site where you can check out what your computer can handle http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade They have some charts comparing speed gains with various components.
Are you using the track freeze option to manage the track count and subsequent demands on your machine?

What cable do I need to buy to connect my Macbook Pro (2011) to a VGA screen? I tried the "Mini DisplayPort to VGA", but apparently it doesnt fit the 2011 Pro version...
    Help me out please.

    Yes ... minidisplay
But what I do not like in that picture (my personal view, others may think differently), is that there is much plastic around the connectors where the cable must fit.  You may ot may not be able to get the cable to *fully seat* with the adapter.
Other adapters (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0334087, yes I know this is a DVI) hve no plastic barriers to connections.
