Need to change HDD in my HP Pavilion dv6542ev

The last days I have a problem with my HDD and it needs changing. The model of my notebook is HP Pavilion dv6542ev. My problem is that I don't know what type of HDDs I can get. A friend of mine has another model and I can take his. His model is HP Pavilion dv9542ev. Can I use it??

Your HP Pavilion dv6542ev Entertainment Notebook Computer supports the following factory hard drives;
9.5-mm, 2.5-inch hard drives
Serial ATA
● 250-GB, 5400-rpm
● 200-GB, 4200-rpm
● 160-GB, 5400-rpm
● 120-GB, 5400-rpm
● 80-GB, 5400-rpm
The HP Pavilion dv9542ev supports the same hard drives and more. You should have no issue using the hard drive from his computer in yours. Please be aware that you will need to use your HP dv6542ev Recovery Discs once you have installed his hard drive.

Need to change HDD, what type and brand should I buy?
The original HDD is damaged so I need to replace it. I've seen some problems with the heat sensors and other issues, so want to make sure to buy the right disk. The original HDD in my iMac27 11.1 is a Seagate 1T 7200. Help appreciated.

It would be easier to buy a normal HDD, (shop around they are everywhere) places like OWC sell decent ones, then connect an external temp sensor to it, as baltwo said looking for an apple one will take more time than its worth!
If you decide to replace the drive with one that isn't compatible with the current temp sensor the HDD fan will run at top speed, an alternative to this would be:

Satellite M30 - Need to change HDD

I bought a Satellite SM30-104 (Model No: PSM30E-0QRYK-FR) in 2004 and it looks like the HDD is dead since it is restarting windows xp home again and again. While Windows is loading, at a certain point , the laptop restarts from the beginning. I even cannot access to the Bios.
Consequently, I suspect the HDD to be dead and would like to change it : MK4021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 T, 40Go, 4200t/min, SMART
Could you please let me know where can I buy a new one similar or compatible with more storage?

Hmm if the HDD would be dead then windows would not load anything and you would get an message that OS cannot be found.
However, if you want to change the HDD then you can do this
You will need an 2.5 IDE HDD. I think the 120GB would be the limitation due to the LBA28bit
However, this is only my personal opinion maybe bigger HDD would be compatible as well -

I am absolutely shocked at how far Adobe's customer service has fallen. In the past i could simply call up their toll free line and get an answer to my question or have my isse resolved. It seems those days are LONG gone.
On Black Friday I wanted to buy lightroom which was on sale. I live in Canada. I always have. For some unknown reason my country was set to the US. When i tried to buy Lightroom none of my payment methods (paypal, creditcard) could go through because my payment methods indicate I live in Canada.
I immediately tried to contact Adobe. First i must comment on their terrible phone system. I have to wade through menu after menu, none actually representing my need to change my Adobe information. Finanlly i got to an option where i could talk to a live person - but wait - there are callers ahead of me and i'll have to wait an estimated 2 hours (is that a joke?). Lucky for me they have a call back option. But the call back option DOES NOT WORK! After i enter my number the automated message says my number can not be regonized. I tried it every way possible, multiple times and it never went through.
Eventually I gave up. I chalked it up to Adobe being busy because of Black Friday and just created a new account to buy Lightroom. That went through no problem (it seems Adobe is good at TAKING my money). I figured i'd try back next week and have my Country changed and consolidate both my accounts into one.
MORE THAN A MONTH HAS PASSED. I have tried several times over the weeks. THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO REACH CUSTOMER SERVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER!! The phone situation is the same as above. Often the 'Chat with a live rep' option is not even available. When it is I CONSTANTLY get this message in the chat window :

Even as i type this message i have been on hold on the phone for 30 mins, and still no response in my chat window. This is ridiculous.

Firefox downloads files automatically when opening a opening a search result. What setting do I need to change to have the search result file (pdf. or whatever) open instead? Something changed yesterday and I lost the ability to open the files vs. download.

Normally, when I use my online account, when i select a document to open with excel or with adobe, the applicaiton installed on the PC, is used to open the files.
Can you check the under control panel, default programs, and see what program is associated to the PDF files?
When you try to open one of those pdf files from your back, what happens?
If you download them to the HDD, are they automatically associated to ADOBE?

I was mistaken; the F10 is a little bit older notebook and it supports IDE HDD controller!
Usually the BIOS should recognize the inserted HDD automatically
If this is not the case then the issue could be related to controller fault
But one thing is important and should be checked;
Some 2.5" HDD supports differetn pin assigment. You should check if you would need to change the jumper on the HDD...
A friend of mine has had an similar issue and he could solve this changing the position of the jumper... -
What setting do i need to change to send items in zynga games?

no changes before issues happened, except facebook changesI can send items correctly in Zynga games but can only request items occasionally, like once in 50 or so times. I can usually request items of my farmville friends the very first time I am line in the morning, on my first request. After that it will only go to my facebook friends who are NOT my farmville friends. Do I need to change my browser and if so how do I do that?
I have been in contact with the Zynga folks for several months and they keep saying "they are working on it" but have been unable to assist me so far. I want to find out if it's something I can fix on my end.

(Sorry for my english :S ).To remove the optical drive module, you need to remove the battery and secondary HDD cover first.
In the middle of the bottom cover you would find an black screw which secures the CD/DVD drive.
This screw has to be removed.
In the secondary HDD bay you will find an bracket.
Use your hand to push the module bracket and then slide the module from the bay.
Thats all!
But once again; be careful and if you have no experience, get in contact with an notebook technician! -
Trying to drag pdf files i have and combine them into one pdf file in the account i just purchased with Adobe. when i drag a pdf file over Adobe doesn't accept it. says it can not convert this type of file. but it is an Adobe file. Do I need to change it in some other form befor dragging it?

I have been using one apple ID for my family as it makes it easier to manage itunes purchases/rentals on all of our devices. Now that my kids are getting old and my wife has recently purchased an Iphone, I can see that I need to change my strategy. I plan to add a few more iphones to the family very soon. What is your recommendation to manage all of our devices (iphones, itouch, apple tv) for my family? Can I continue to function with one apple ID or is it time to take the leep into attempting to manage multi-apple ID's?

You need a CONVERTER, not ADAPTER The setup:

I need to change my main BT email address, but how do I go about doing this?
The address is being used as a spoofed address by spammers and I am getting non-delivery notices from the intended receipients' mail servers. Not the end of the world, but it's a PITA.
Normally, I'd just dump the address and create a new one, but this is the main address attached to my account, which I cannot just change.
Advice and/or help (FROM A MOD ONLY) would be appreciated. I've already tried the Contact Us from BT and the Online Chat thing, but both times got idiots from India who had no idea what I was talking about.

On apple website, seraching on support, the article HT1918 explains.
Log into your apple ID and edit your personal information, where email can be changed as well. All applications as itunes stores, apple store and icloud use this same apple ID, so be aware of this.

I have the iPhone 4. I recently switched from PC to IMac. I am trying to sync my iPhone, but iTunes will not let me add or remove anything. Do I need to change a setting since I changed computers? I try to add songs from my music into my phone section and it will not go... Plus the playlists on my phone are not updated on my iTunes phone on my computer. Its like it never updated. What am I doing wrong??
Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first.
