Need to charge before connecting properly

I am using FireWire to connect my iPod to my computer(desktop) (lots of power ram ect.) usually i use my iPod throughout the day and simply sync it up at the end of the day then letting it fully charge over night. But recently after a 1/4 of a day of batter use i plug my ipod up and it firstly connects (not to iTunes but it shows up on the screen do not disconnect) after approximately 10 secconds it goes back to the unconnected screen soon after it reconnects and then disconnects. After approximately 2 min i give up trying and charge it up via the ac power connecter that came with the iPod. For the ipod to connect with the computer and stay connected long enough to sync with iTunes i have to let the ipod charge until the little plug sign is shown on the ipod.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You seem to have tried all of the troubleshooting processes apart from resetting the iPod. To do this, toggle the hold on, off, on, off, then press and hold the Click (Center) and Menu buttons together untill an Apple logo appears on your iPod screen. (approx 6 seconds) When it appears, let go and wait for the iPod to return to its normal state.
Now try connecting the iPod again. If you still have no joy you might want to send the iPod in for repair. You can do this one of three ways:
-Call Apple and arrange a pickup
-Go into an Apple Store
-Go to this page, fill in the form and follow the instructions to get your repair.
Hope it gets sorted one way or another

  • Just received new ipad does it need for charge before I can use, as I tried to turn on but just get flashing apple

I just received a new ipad and started charging but when I try to turn on all I get is a flashing apple and it won't turn on, does it need to charge for timeframe before?

well try to place it in recovery mode, WARNING placing the ipad in recovery mode, will ask you to connect to itunes, and you will need itunes to restore ipad, which will erase all content.
Now follow the same steps as before, but you need to make sure it is plugged in to a outlet with power or a pc that is on, hold the sleep/wake button first, and then the hold the home button, keep holding them down until you get a itunes logo with with usb cord trying to connect to it.
make sure itunes is up to date.
after that you will have to use itunes to restore it.
itunes will tell you the ipad is in recovery mode and needs to be restored, press ok, then restore ipad.
there is not another step to take.
if you are unable to place the ipad in recovery mode, then yes visit a apple retail store, make sure you set up an apt. you can also call in for the issue, but if you do not have apple care plus, or apple care, then you will have to pay $19.00 for them to troubleshoot.

  • Just got a MacBookAir - Do I need to charge before 1st use?

Or can I boot up and begin exploring?

If it comes with a quickstart guide in the box, it will probably have first-use directions. I would look for that.
Otherwise, you can start exploring with it plugged into the wall. Then you'll be playing while it charges.

  • Annoying incessent beeps in videos / won't charge when connected to CPU

First of all my battery couldnt hold a charge within 2 months of buying my 5G Ipod, so I sent it in and got a new one. The new one has a couple of problems, one of which the old one had as well.
The one thing both iPods have not been able to do is charge when connected to the computer. They can connect fine, but if my battery is dead or low, it won't connect and I have to recharge it on my charger before connecting it to the comp. My old 4thG (Which died right after warantee expired) was able to charge on my comp.
However my major issue is that my video's have loud and annoying beeping sounds throughout when I play them. I've done the 5 R's(many times), it does it for downloaded files as well as some official apple ones that someone suggested. It does not beep when TV-Out is selected but does start beeping as soon as I try to view it from the player. It does it to ALL my videos, ones that worked fine for my previous 5G. Audio files work fine.
iPods have given me nothing but trouble as this is my 3rd one.

The USB mouse and printer do not draw any current from the USB port, so there's no info there. As you've stated, since your USB HDD uses an external power, that's not helpful either. I'm out of suggestions except you can see if someone else has a USB-iPod connector to try on your MacBook. BTW, if your IPT has a volume control on the left side, it's a G2.

  • HT1476 iPhone 4S won't charge or connect to iTunes through cable properly.

Hi, My iPhone 4S is not charging or connecting to iTunes.  Only very sporadically does it charge properly or connect to the computer.  It is always charging a bit however when the cable is connected, but very slowly (approx 1% per hour).  On the odd occasion it does charge properly it all seems fine, but this is very rare.
I have tried several different cables (all original Apple ones).  I have tried charging on different power sockets.  I have tried charging on different computers (both Apple and Regular).  I have also tried charging on a docking station.
I am taking it to an Apple support center this Friday, but urgenly need to sync with iTunes to save all my apps I have bought.  I have not synced for a while.  I have been told I will probably get a new phone, that is why everything needs to be backed up now.  I have already back-up my setting on iCloud, but as far as I am aware this will not back up the actual software.
    Please help.  I am desperate!
    Thanks

    I would restart

and if they didn't help then I would say that the connector of the iphone is defect

  • When you get a new laptop, do you need to let it fully run out of charge before charging it up again?

When you get a new laptop, do you need to let it fully run out of charge before charging it up again?

No, I use as much as I can connected to AC with a monthly discharge to about the 40% charge level.  If in portable mode with no AC available, I will let the MBP operate until the low charge warning appears. then I will terminate the session.  Total battery discharge should be avoided.

  • HT1695 Do I need to charge my ipad before setting it up?

Do I need to charge my ipad mini before setting it up? and if so how long?

Nope. All apple devices come precharged.  It may not have 100% battery but it should still be pretty much charged. You should be able to turn it on and start setting it up.  You can even set it up while its charging if you wanted to.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My ipad will not power on after update. I have tried connecting to computer which doesn't recognize it. I have pushed top and circle buttons at same time. It had a battery charge before it died.  I tried to stop the upload and am afraid it 'crashed'

My first genteration ipad will not power on after update. I have tried connecting to the authorized computer which won't recognize it - does not acknowledge a device is plugged in. I have pushed top and circle buttons at same time. It had a battery charge before it died.  I tried to stop the upload midway and am afraid it 'crashed'

Try putting it into recovery mode.
Connect iPad to your computer via USB while it's turned on.
    Open iTunes
Hold the iPad's Sleep/Wake switch (power button on the top of the iPad) down until the "power off" slider appears.
Power off the iPad completely (wait for the progress spinner to disappear).
Hold the Sleep/Wake switch AND the Home button down for a full 10 seconds.
After 10 seconds (the second time you'll see the Apple logo on the screen) release the Sleep/Wake switch while still holding the Home button.
Continue to hold the Home button for another 10 seconds until the USB connection image appears on the iPad's screen, then release the Home button.
A pop-up message will appear on iTunes saying it has detected an iPad in recovery mode, you must restore...
Click on the "Restore" button and the process will begin.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
