Need to clone one pixel at a time.

I use the clone stamp for very fine detail (using CS3). Why, when I sample one pixel, it clones four? I have six books on CS3 and can't find the answer. I am using a basic hard 1 pixel brush with 100% opacity, flow, and hardness.
In other words, when I sample one red pixel, I get four pixels in various shades of red. This frustrates me so much, that I use my son's Paint Shop Pro program when I need to do a lot of clone work.

Using the clone tool, I sample one pixel (with the Alt key), and move to another area to fill. The "fill" area becomes four pixels. I did not have this problem with CS2.
Yes, I want to clone (copy) one colored pixel to another area. Am I missing a setting? Should I reinstall CS3? Does CS4 have this problem? Returning to CS2 is not an option.
Until I can resolve this problem, I will continue to use Paint Shop Pro for detailed clone work. It just seems ridiculous that a $59 program can do what CS3 can't.

How can I use the move tool to drag ONE pixel at a time?

The move tool is stuck to snapping at ~20 pixels at a time, so when I try to move a layer by a few pixels, its super frustrating. I dont want to have to use the arrow keys, I should be able to drag wherever I want.
How can I stop the move tool from snapping? I want to drag things precisely. I am zoomed at 100% if that makes a difference. I cant find anything about this under Preferences.

Our posts overlapped there. Are you saying you could reliably drag one pixel with CS3?
What other issues are you having? Things like the Crop tool can feel strange at first, but I promise you you'll never want to use Classic mode once you get used to it.

OBIEE Pre-Builts Loading one year at a time

Hi,
We are in a situation where we need to load one year at a time into the BAW (warehouse). I have seen this done before where the initial load was a full load and only went forward one year. Each subsequent load was for a complete year until we were current. After that, it was simply incremental loads with the standard prune days of 30.
Does anyone have any detail as to how to do this?

Is the issue a performance issue (ETLs running for too long)? The problem is that if you do Year by year..and you want to do a "incremental" load for each year, that would be even more of a load..since you are not allowing for BULK load (where the tables get truncated). Either you can truncate and do BULK or incrmental..which may be an even heavier load. I think you are assuming that this approach will somehow help you from a hardware limitation standpoint..do you know for sure that it will?
If you really do want to do it, as I mentioned, you can edit the INITIAL and END parameters. It would help if you clarify the Hardware limitation...I think there are better ways to handle this than to do what you are doing.

Displaying one record at a time

Is any body able to help me? I need to display one record at a time from a Select statement.
Could I copy the results of the Select query from a table into an array for later display or is there a better alternative.
Please, any part knowledge with regard to the above would be usefull.

What application do you want to use to display the data?
You can use "rownum" in your SQL statement to ensure that you only get record N of a query. Asktom has a good article on this sort of windowing

More commonly, however, you'll write a SQL query that returns all the rows, fetch a small number, display those to the user, and then fetch more records.

I can't get any of my applications to open. I can't connect to my Wi fi and my MacBook Pro says it's not charging. It is 4 yrs old and I've taken it in for repairs 3 times this year. Also was told my cd rom packed it in. Is it possible I need a new one?

I need to find away were my students that are working on a project can export the files and save them somewhere, so when they 7 days later open Garage band can import there song with all the correct midi-tracks. When I export the song to Icloud the song become an Mp4 file (I think). And I can import the files via Icloude.

Dan,
your students could store their projects in iCloud, only you would continously have to change the AppleIDs of the iPads, so each student could store the songs with their own AppleID. I don't think this will be feasable.
The other possibility would be to share the projects to iTunes and to download them to iTunes on a Mac at the end of each lesson. Does your school have Macs? This will not work with PCs.

I think there might be information there on how to reset Time Machine to do a full backup. I think you basically have to reset it and start over.

Pressing option-go only directs me to the current library folder in my hard drive. I have opened up the saved disk image and need to copy one folder and put it into my current library. Trying to restore using time capsule won't let me into the user library either......

The Saved Application State folder is where Lion stores all the information required for its resume feature to function as it does. As you are looking for a specific saved game folder it will not be in the Saved Application State folder. This folder was not present in Snow Leopard so wouldn't be present on your backup previous to the Lion install.
The game saves you're looking for will most likely be located in the Application Support or Preferences folder.

I cannot "download all" from the cloud ... it says that itunes has encountered an error and needs to shut down. I can download one song at a time. It is not being caused by any one song.

I have the latest version of iTunes. When I am in the iTunes store and I click on purchased it will show me a list of all my purchased songs. Some of the older songs are already in my iTunes account. There is a cloud symbol by any songs that have not been download to my account. It always fails if I try to do a "download all" (at the bottom of the page) but I seem to be able to download one song at a time. These are songs that were purchased on my iPhone but I wanted to put them in my iTunes account so that I could put them on my iPod. The problem does not appear to be associated to any one song.

I did think about that and if I have to I will do that, however there are about 50 songs. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times and I am sure that I have the latest version. It fails right away but I can click on the cloud download icon and download the song that it failed on ... therefore it is not that song "or any one song" causing the issue. Any ideas?

WRT54G - 2 PC, do I need to clone MAC on both PC or just one?

I got a new Linksys WRT54G router and I've two PC (XP + Linux/Fedora) connected to it:
From XP ipconfig /all
IP 192.168.1.100
Sub 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Name Servers (DNS) xx.xx.xxx.90 and xx.xx.xxx.91
When using Auto DHCP, both PC can access the web, however XP can see L/Fedora, but L/Fedora can not see XP
If I set Static on both PC:
XP 192.168.1.100
L/Fedora 192.168.1.2 (wouldn't let me set to 192.168.1.100, it said someone was already using the IP)
Both PC could see each other, however L/Fedora could NOT access web, XP OK.
What did I do wrong? do I need to clone the MAC for both PC or just XP? (I only cloned the XP PC)

Macbook Pro 10.7.5, need to clone hard drive with two partitions?

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.7.5. I have two partitions on the current 750GB drive and just purchased a Samsung 750GB SSD. I want to do an exact clone to the new drive but am struggling with the fact that I have two partitions on the current drive and seemingly all the advice talks about cloning the Macintosh HD only.
I need to clone both partitions to the new SSD. I can't, don't want to, reinstall anything.
Is there a way to clone the entire drive, not just the boot partition?

When cloning difficulties with Win installations are discussed, it's almost always Boot Camp. Virtual Machines are just really big files which can be copied and moved like any other file (though Parallels or VMware Fusion will detect that and ask if you've copied or moved the file and getting the answer right is important). That's just one of the many virtues of virtual machines - easy cloning and duplication.

Normally I'd suggest activating TRIM but you've already done that. And while any update would disable TRIM, if you're using TRIM Enabler, that pops up to let you know TRIM needs to be turned on again. But since you've reached the end of the update line with Lion, that only applies if you move to Mountain Lion or Mavericks. However, if you're booting from a different drive to work on the SSD, TRIM needs to be enabled on that drive too. Even if it's a HD, the OS will use TRIM on the SSD you're working on.
The only thing that comes to mind is not to fill the SSD to the brim with files. There are fundamental differences between SSD's and hard disks and for best performance, that needs to be respected. This discussion goes into some detail so you can appreciate what the SSD controller has to do.

Fastest way to draw Pixel at a time?

so far, from what ive seen, an applet is fairly fast for creating and displaying images, im working with a fairly new shading method(its like a year old, which is fairly new compared to the other 4 or so shading methods), but this requires me to draw pixel at a time, im only drawing each pixel once(not drawing over the same pixel when drawing another shape) so everything is calculated before the pixels are set and drawn. the only way from which i can see with a standard graphics object i can see to draw a pixel(or a point) would be to draw a line with the same start and end point or to draw a rectangle with a width and lenght of 1 pixel(both of these methods for drawing a point are a little slower than i want them to be). ive tried using a Buffered Image in a JFrame, setting each pixel one at a time, then updating the frame to display the new image, but that has proven to be fairly slow, so is there any way(faster than using an applet) to draw pixels one at a time?

How can I display one line at a time on a PPT slide

I am using OFFICE for the Mac (2008).
In the past, I have known how to do this using PPT on a Windows PC..
But something has changed and I can no longer figure out how to get each line on a PPT slide to appear one line at a time every time I click it.
It's not that difficult, but I can't figured out where they moved the "Appear" option.
I am NOT using KEYNOTE, but PowerPoint from OFFICE for the Mac (2008)
Can someone help me.

Since this is a Keynote discussion forum, there may be no one here that knows. I personally hate PP and could care less about how to make one line display at a time. It is easy on Keynote and that is all I need to know. You might want to look for a PP forum and ask there.
