Need to constantly re-install frutiger font for it to load in PS CS5.1

I am constantly forced to reinstall frutiger for it to show up in the photoshop list after each time i restart the computer...What's going on!?
I ran the font checked script from the adobe help site and it didn't find any corrupt fonts or anything.
The font was bought from linotype.
Please help!

What OS are you running?
It could be that the font is not corrupt, but poorly-written, and your OS is having issues with it. If so, I would contact Linotype.
Is that the only font that exhibits this behavior?
Good luck,
Hunt

• Adobe Pro XI install: Timeout waiting for window to load

Installed fine on my work computer yesterday (subscription). Trying to download and install at home from the website and getting "Timeout waiting for window to load". I've tried IE, Chrome and Firefox. I do have a Pro 8 installed here, but don't want to chuck it until I know XI is going to install - not sure I know where that disk is any longer.

Hi Daniel,
Seems to be a network issue here.
Please try downloading the file ( Download Acrobat products | 9, 8 ) from any other network, (may be your work computer network) and save the setup file to a flash drive.
Connect the flash drive to the home computer and try installing.

• How to install MICR fonts for R1 check Printing.

I saw several messages on the MICR.
Anyone used BI Publisher 10.1.3 and still sucessfully uised metalink Note:373377.1?
I am using BI 10.1.3..What are the steps I need to follow?I followed the same from the Note:373377.1,Still no success..
Is that true that in case of BI publisher, i heard that BI publisher is stand alone.(It is not like XML publisher as the databse is not embedded) the fonts needed to be installed at server level..
How true is this?Can anyone please help on this?
thanks
prasanna

Using MICR in XMLP is like using any other special font (i.e. barcode). Please see below some link on how to have the fonts(MICR) working on your templates. Also, you could buy fonts but may want to try first on the MICR font shipped with the BI Publisher Desktop (i.e. C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\fonts).

• Cannot install Euro-Fonts for WinXP

Hi,
I cannot install the Euro-Fonts which I need for FrameMaker. I am running XP SP3. The only hint I read was that I should read ATM User Guide. But I do not know wether there is such a guide. My ATM 4.1 does not contain it.
Thank you and regards

I SOLVED THE PROBLEM - it was on my side. I have a backup of my files on the web server and I put the folder with the fonts ther. Problem was that I did not zipped it so when I downloaded it to my computer, somethig was probably changed so that the Mac did not recognized the files. Now I have the fonts from CD and all work 100%.
Seems like the OS X will be good system finaly

• I bought and installed many fonts for a project and one font in particular which is showing up in the font list on a new file, is missing when I open an existing file containing that font. I can't understand why that's happening and the font is Centrale S

Hi
I am encountering a missing font error on Adobe Illustrator for a font that I recently bought - Centrale Sans Bold. This font is clearly installed in the system's font folder and is also showing in the font list on Adobe Illustrator. But when I open an existing file containing this font it is giving the error "The document uses fonts or characters which are not available or are in a different format than originally specified".
We have also bought Centrale Sans regular from a different website as we couldn't find both on one, could that be clashing somehow?
Also the existing file was created on MAC plattform and we are using a windows plattform to open it. That to me doesn't seem like an issue as all other files are opening up fine and I have bought around 47 fonts and only this font seems to be not working. I have also written to the website I bought it from but I have also bought around 20-25 fonts from them and all the other fonts are working fine too. Maybe its an illustrator related problem?
Please help!!!!!!

There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

• Can you install Sinhala fonts for iPad 2 ?, Can you install Sinhala fonts for iPad 2 ?

There are lot of sri lankans who are interested in buying the iPad but there is a huge problem with the language barrier. If you all make an app for this as soon as possible , believe me there with be a lot of happy apple users

You can't add fonts to the iPad so that they are available in every app, only Apple can do that - so if a third-party wrote an app that included it, it would only be available within that app.
You can try leaving feedback for Apple and maybe support will be added at some point : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Am I missing any step here. I followed every step in the note except for step 10, style and weight as I don't see any such fields here.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

As you have followed the note, try checking your Mapping Set "type" if it's for FO Processing.
--> Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.

• Install new font on OWA

Our client has a request: they need a specific collection of fonts (Myriad Pro) to match their policy. So I tried to install Myriad Pro fonts from here: http://www.cufonfonts.com/en/font/492/myriad-pro, and install them on Exchange Server (our client has
only one mail server). But when users access mail via OWA, they don't see new fonts, just the default ones.
Is Exchange Server 2013 allow us to install new fonts for OWA?
Thanks for your kindly help.
Tu9a2

Hi
There is the ability to create a new theme in OWA 2013 - I haven't tried this myself yet but the instructions can be found here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb201700(v=exchg.150).aspx
Cheers, Steve
I've already tried that, and it's nothing related to add new fonts. The only thing that OWA allow us to modify is the color of the fonts, that's all.
So far I can't find any solution for that specific issue. So I've marked Terence Yu post as an answer. I think at the moment we have to accept that.
Thank you all!

• Licensing fonts for use in publishing books.

Hello everyone,
I was reading the forums here and I see a lot of questions concerning licensing of fonts with some very competent people replying. I'm hoping that someone can clarify my position regarding font licensing.
I'm a new small publisher in the UK, and intend to make print on demand books via Lightning Source. I hadn't quite appreciated the scope of font licensing and want to make sure I get it right.
I need to purchase or license a font for use in the books I'll be publishing. The font will only be used on my computer for typesetting. The font will then be embedded in a non-editable PDF to go to Lightning Source, who only use the file to print physical copies of the book.
I will also be doing eBooks but these will NOT have any fonts embedded in them. I only make this clear because some licenses seem to differ if you're commercially selling an electronic file with the font embedded. The only file that will have it embedded is the PDF which is itself not sold, only used for printing.
I did read somewhere in these forums that all Adobe fonts are licensed for this.
If someone could please put my mind at rest as to what I need to buy I would be very grateful.
Many thanks!

Typescript,
I will also be doing eBooks but these will NOT have any fonts embedded in them.
Does this mean that the viewers will see their own (standard) fonts in the eBooks?

• Unicode font for swing components

Hi all,
I'd like to set a Swing component (a JLabel) to a particular font so it will properly display Unicode Greek text. I've been reading all about physical vs. logical fonts, and I've read through the various Sun docs/faqs on Internationalization, Fonts, and Unicode, but I just can't get this to work. I think I'm missing something more basic here about selecting my font. My test word is the Greek "khairete," with an accent over the iota. Here is the Unicode:
χαίρετε
The trick is that accented iota.
I can launch an xterm that shows the characters I want like this:
$ xterm -fn -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1 &
That tells me that if I can get Java to use that font, then I'm all set. I'm trying the following test program:
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.event.*;
import java.io.*;
public class GUI extends JFrame {
public static final String MESSAGE = "χαίρετε";
public GUI() throws Exception {
super();
Font[] fonts;
Container container;
JLabel label;
fonts = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getAllFonts();
for (int j=0;j<fonts.length;j++) {
System.out.println(fonts[j]);
container = getContentPane();
container.setLayout(new GridLayout(0, 1));
// try with the default font
label = new JLabel(MESSAGE);
container.add(label);
printFont(label.getFont());
// see what the default font looks like when PLAIN (to compare with fonts below)
label = new JLabel(MESSAGE);
label.setFont(label.getFont().deriveFont(Font.PLAIN, 12));
container.add(label);
printFont(label.getFont());
// this looks the same as the default font, meaning we didn't find what we asked for.
label = new JLabel(MESSAGE);
label.setFont(new Font("-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1", Font.PLAIN, 12));
container.add(label);
printFont(label.getFont());
// this also falls back to the default.
label = new JLabel(MESSAGE);
label.setFont(Font.getFont("-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1"));
container.add(label);
printFont(label.getFont());
// this (of course) falls back to the default.
label = new JLabel(MESSAGE);
label.setFont(Font.getFont("not a font name"));
container.add(label);
printFont(label.getFont());
// try every font we've got!
for (int j = 0; j < fonts.length; j++) {
label = new JLabel(fonts[j] + ": " + MESSAGE);
label.setFont(fonts[j].deriveFont(Font.PLAIN, 12));
container.add(label);
setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
pack();
show();
public static void printFont(Font f) {
System.out.println(f);
if (f != null) {
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
GUI me = new GUI();
But nothing in this code succeedings in printing ί. As I've said, the plain old xterm can do it. I think my problem is that I haven't successfully referenced the desired font in the Java code. But how do I do this? These are the fonts available to me, according to the code above:

If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I'd like to find an answer that doesn't involve editing the font.properties file.
Thanks,

Hi Sojan,
first up, forget the notion of even tinkering with the font.properties file if you can. It's an old, outdated method of setting up the fonts that Sun doesn't even support any more. Use setFont() where you can, and die trying in the process! ;-)
One thing I would check is which font each AWT component currently thinks it has. It's easy enough to set the font system wide with Swing components, but I'm not sure if that capability extends to AWT components (I've certainly had trouble with it in various places in the past). While you've set up the Chinese font correctly, your AWT components might still be stuck with the Java default (Helvetica, or whatever it is, which is incapable of displaying Chinese), and hence displaying the rectangles because they don't know how to handle the foreign characters. You might need to set SimSun as the font for each of your AWT components individually at a worst-case scenario.
Hope that helps,
Martin Hughes

• Installing .OTF fonts - and Latex/Xetex?

I want to install some OTF fonts - specifically the Garamond Premier Pro font family that comes with Adobe Font Folio Education Essentials.
What I did was placing the files into .fonts/ and running fc-cache -vf.
Apparently, I can use the fonts now, and specifying a \setromanfont[Mapping=tex-text]{Garamond Premier Pro} compiles fine running xelatex... I am just not sure if the font is actually properly displayed.
I found some stuff on this board, but it wasn't too helpful.
My question is: Is the installation routine I applied sufficient or do I have to take care of anything else in order to properly install the fonts for use with Latex/Xetex?

For the two things that I suggested:
localfontsdir is on line #58.
berryname starts on line #138. Add the following line to the middle of the list somewhere. I'm not 100% sure that 'pad' is the correct berryname, but it's the closest that I found and it works:
'Garamond Premier Pro' : 'pad',
I did run this as root. The first time that I did this, I couldn't figure out how to do it as a regular user. I found other references to running it as root, and I figured that since it's from CTAN now, it's going to be malware free.
When you run the script, run it in the directory with the GPP fonts and wildcard it. ./otfinst *.otf
By the way, XeTeX will just find them if your system can find them. But XeTeX doesn't do microtype, so I went back to LaTeX.
