Need to crawl a graphic and make it dissapear

Here is a little poser I stumbled on...and I wonder how others would do this in PPRO (CS5).
I have a base line title created in PPRO Titler  ( "a string of six words capatilised")
I need to make them crawl right to left across the baseline and then dissapear  at the leading edge part way across  (just preceding a logo about 8/10ths across the screen.)
Ideally ...dissapear behind a slightly feathered edge.
How would you do this?
BTW: I have done it in AEFX but was surprised that I stumbled on this simple thing in PPRO.

Thanx Guys.
I will try your suggestions and I am very familiar with the Linear Wipe.  I use it for
graphic line reveals a lot.
I did play with it a bit yesterday along with Track Mattes and Garbage Mattes.
Will have another play now. (not totally convinced I will add)
It was real easy to do in AEFX but I am taken aback by how hard it is to do in PPRO.
I am persevering for my own edification at his point and I do have a few of them to do for this project and upcoming ones.

When they enter the "Route Code" I would like that to be in the Subject Line... Any hekp would be greatky appreciated.

You can use either the mailDoc (http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.505.html) or submitForm (http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.537.html) JavaScript methods.
For the latter method, you'd include the subject line as part of a mailto type URI. Do a web search to see how this is done. With the mailDoc method, just use the "cSubject" parameter.

  • Add stroke to graphic and make one graphic

HI, not sure how to phrase this one, but I have a letter form that I made into a graphic. It's kind of thin and I want it thicker. I can add a stroke, but how do I make stroke + letter all one piece so  I can reverse it out of a color block?
    thanks in advance.
Rasterizing it won't allow me to alter the color.

Is this what you need?  The letter is shown on the left, letter with stroke on the right. Below is the letter with stroke reversed out of the black field using the transparency dialog box.

  • Help! I need to highlight a button and make the rest of the buttons fade back with white opacity

Hi! I'm making a website in flash, inspired from this site : http://www.heyerdahlhandel.no
I've done mouseover so that when you go over a circle you can see full text in the middle,
but I don't know how to make the other "buttons"/circles fade white when I have my mouse over one of the circles.
Please take a look at the webpage i take inspiration from so that you understand what i mean, it's kind of difficult to explain. http://www.heyerdahlhandel.no/
Also, I'm kind of new to this, just so you guys/girls know
Does anybody know what i should do?
    I'm using CS 5.5 and Actionscript 3
    -Siri

fade/tween using actionscript you'll want to use a tween class.  tweenlite is easier to use and far more powerful that flash'es Tween class.  go to:  greensock.com
and get his tweenlite.  copy some examples and you should be able to tween all sorts of things in no time.

  • I need to vent, ask questions and make suggestions all in one post. Get ready

Ok, I'm driving my little cousin home to babysit him for an hour or so when he asks me "can I play that fruit slicing game on your phone?" Now normally I would just say no and leave it at that, but he looked so innocent sitting in the backseat so I opened up Fruit Ninja and handed it to him. After a while I noticed that my phone went quiet and that he wasn't playing it anymore so I asked him what was wrong and he said it just cut off. So I take the phone from him and noticed that indeed it was off and was turning back on only on the screen it had the little android character and it said erasing with a loading bar at the bottom. My first reaction was to take the batter out in hopes that it would prevent the erasing but guess what? There's no battery to take out in a droid maxx, so all I could do was sit there and wait for it to delete all my stuff. When my phone finally did boot up the first thing it said was setup phone for first use and I'm like this isn't my first time using it!! But EVERYTHING was deleted, the only thing I was able to recover was some of my contacts. I even logged in my Google account but that didn't bring any of my pictures, music, or even the progress I made in my apps like Fruit Ninja back & I had all the blades!=(
My question is how did this happen? Why couldn't I stop it? I know my little cousin doesn't know how to factory reset my phone, did it do it by itself? Is there a way that I can get my stuff back?? Please help
I suggest there be an option to abort the factory reset just in case it happened by accident. Why are phone makers making built in batteries now? I feel like I could have saved myself this trouble if I was able to take the battery out
I'm so upset because ITS ALL GONE=|

Probably not much help here. Sorry you lost all your data. I have a game with about $1k invested so I would be wicked upset.
when I have let my kids play with my phone they have made in game purchases. not good. I had to quit letting them play it unsupervised. I have noticed that they don't read what they are pressing. and don't understand that the entire screen has buttons on it. like the home button or sometimes settings..... things pop up and all they want is back to their games. so they press and press.
as far as the removable battery goes as the phones get bigger memory, and more serious SnapDragon processors pulling the battery during memory dumps or changes could end the life of the phone. you could corrupt the memory. the days of pulling the battery for a simple reboot are going the way of the dodo.

  • MSI GE 620 - Need help changing intergrated graphics over to NVIDIA card.

Hello, I don't know if I should be posting this question in the VGA Products section or the NVidia boards section but here goes anyway!
I got an MSI GE 620. Now after I installed all my games onto the new system I notice something was off. My computer was using the on board Intel HD Family Graphics card to run my games instead of my NVIDIA Geforce GT 540M. Now I went to the NVIDIA settings and set the 3D settings to run on the NVIDIA High Performance Processor. Now some games ran off the NVIDIA card like Shogun 2, Dawn of War II, but a lot of the others wouldn't such as World of Warcraft.
Now I've tried a lot of things to turn off the Intel HD card and make the system favor the NVIDIA but it doesn't. When I run dxdiag it just displays the Intel card and not the NVIDIA. Now obviously the BIOS is running the Intel card first on start up and I was told to just turn off the Intel card in BIOS and enable the PCI (If that's what I called in BIOS?) card which is the NVIDIA card in BIOS but I can't get into BIOS. I press F2 on start up and if just gives information about the laptop and I can see any options to change the video settings or display.
I also tried to disable the Intel card in device manger but the screen just goes black and I have to force shut down and restart with the card off and I have to enable it again to get a normal screen resolution and such.
I am just completely lost on how to turn off the on board graphics and make my NVIDIA Geforce GT 540M the only card that runs off everything. I would really appreciate any help on the matter as I'm just upset since the computer is less than a week old and I can't use it to its full power.
    Thank you.

is there no way to make it appear as GT 540M instead of intel HD family in the system/dxdiag/etc... ?
For what purpose though? You can select in the nVidia control panel what software you want the GT 540M used for. The whole point of the technology is to reduce power consumption, so it only switches to the dedicated card when absolutely necessary. Have a look in the global settings (in the nVidia control panel) and see if it will use the GT 540M as the primary device. I don't have a notebook with switchable graphics so don't know what settings there are exactly.

  • Inability to use eps graphics in Word 2007 and make a pdf

    Hi there …
I work at a small "intellectual capital" company where virtually all of our documents (our products!) depend on embedding eps "pictures" into Word and pdf'ing the result.  While this process works great in Word 2003, it fails miserably in Word 2007 - the "mechanics" work fine and a pdf is produced, but the rendering of the eps images are terrible.  I spent some effort looking into this issue trying to find a solution and came up with the following (thanks in part to this post) ... if anyone has any more details, corrections, or solutions feel free to post!
It appears that, over the years, there have been three flavors of eps import filters for Word ... (for the curious the filter is found in Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Grphflt\EPSIMP32.FLT )
The simplest (and oldest) filter basically embeds the eps code unmodified into the Word doc and will display a raster preview of the image if one is included in the eps file.  if the file is printed on a postscript printer or to Acrobat, the eps code is passed through (so it produces perfect pdfs, and the screen image in Word looks as good as the preview image embedded in the eps file). if the file is printed to a generic printer, no image appears (so it doesn't work for joe user).
The Word 2003-era filter pastes the eps code unmodified into the Word doc, then renders a (very poor) preview image (using an OEM'd eps converter).  if a preview image is in the eps file it is ignored (which is bad).  if the file is printed on a postscript printer or to Acrobat, the unmodified eps code is passed through (so it produces perfect pdfs, though the screen image in Word looks yucky). if the file is printed to a generic printer, the poorly rendered preview image is printed (so it works poorly but better than nothing for joe user - and probably gives joe user a bad impression of eps).
In what might be an attempt to improve things for joe user, the Word 2007 filter immediately interprets the eps code (using a slightly updated eps converter from the same OEM) and pastes the resulting rendered image into Word. It NO LONGER embeds the unmodified eps code in the Word doc. While the rendered image looks better than filter #2, it still leaves A LOT to be desired - in my brief testing, colors are VERY wrong and curves become choppy. if the file is printed on a postscript printer or to Acrobat, the poorly rendered image is used since the original eps code is gone (unacceptable for my purposes). if the file is printed to a generic printer, the poorly rendered image is printed (so it works better than Word 2003 for joe user).
So where does this leave anyone that wants to upgrade to Word 2007, use eps images, and make quality pdfs ??
Filters #1 & #2 were interchangeable in Word 2003.  The true eps experts like #1 the best, and it is by far the simplest technically (76k of code vs 400+k), so they merrily swapped and used it with Word 2003.  (Very) unfortunately filters #1 and #2 do not work with Word 2007 - if they did the problem would be nicely solved.
Find another graphics file format to work with?  This is undesirable because the "beauty" of #1 & #2 above is the unmodified eps code gets fed to the pdf maker (which itself is native eps) - Word is just a transport (no "transcoding" loss in compression-speak).  if there were an efficient way to convert eps to say wmf (microsoft's proprietary vector graphic format), and the images were able to survive two transcodes (from eps to wmf back to eps for pdf), it might be livable. But of course Adobe Illustrator cannot save as wmv (nor should it IMHO).  Of note - there is another industry standard vector format - svg - which AI can save as but Word does not support.
Stay in Word 2003 doc format while using Word 2007 (don't use docx).  Doesn't work. My testing shows a Word 2003 doc file with embedded eps created in Word 2003 (and pdf's correctly in Word 2003) does not pdf correctly in Word 2007.
Use a work-around. As suggested here, "Open the EPS in Illustrator. Select all, and Edit > Copy. In Word, Edit > Paste Special > Enhanced Metafile."  This seems to work for small images such as logos, but not for larger graphical stuff (probably because of the internal transcoding to WMF).
Stay with Word 2003.  This appears to be the only workable option for now IF you want to use Word and render eps pictures in pdf's with acceptable quality.
IMHO the best solution would be to have the very simple 76k filter #1 ported to Word 2007 (those who need the capability can swap the filter files) or (not as optimal but does not require swapping filter files) add the option in filter #3 to still embed the eps code.  Microsoft is the right place to do it, or (politics aside), Adobe could and should do it (given some support from MSFT).
I am surprised this issue has not caused more rumblings from users - perhaps it has, the symptoms are just worded differently.  Or maybe everyone is just staying with Word 2003 (which is what I have done until now).  The problem is most companies are being forced to upgrade now, so I think this will become a bigger issue for Adobe / Microsoft going forward.
Thanks for listening.  I look forward to your comments.
    Andy

Microsoft has released a hot fix that supposedly addresses this issue, it is at
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977468
I downloaded the fix and tried it; it actually made the problem worse!  Apparently they
are trying to fix their filter rather than bypassing it.  What I am doing is
    1.  Making maps in AutoCaD Map and printing (plotting in autocad) them to a pdf file
    2.  Opening the pdf file in Acrobat and resaving it as eps
    3.  Importing the eps file into a Word 2007 document
    4.  Use Acrobat to convert the Word document to pdf
Before the hot fix when I did the process the resolution of the map in the final
pdf file was not as good as in the original made from AutoCad.  Also the colors were
not correct.  After installing the hotfix there are still these same problems but also now
any non horizontal text is not displaying correctly.
Be careful about trying this hotfix.
As others have noted, back in Word 2003 the above steps 1 - 4 worked very well and resulted
in a high quality pdf file with the map as good as in the original pdf.

Can I purchase Mountain Lion and make a flash drive bootable? I do not want to install it on my Macbook Pro. I have Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro now, and due to my hard drive needing repair, I need to boot off of another source, like my flash drive. I am in Paris and my Snow Leopard DVD is in Texas.

Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck.  As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.”  As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#.  Right after the root# prompt, enter the following: /sbin/fsck -fy
If repairing the disk in single user mode fails, it means one of two things. Either your hard drive itself is failing (a hardware failure), or the directory damage on your hard drive is beyond the capability of the built-in repair procedures in OS X.

I see people from different ages at my work and every month I need to count how many people from each age I've seen that month. How can I do to give the entries to numbers in a single cell and make numbers count them for me? The final result would be a spreadsheet telling there were 8 people from 20 to 39 years old, 14 peolple from 40 to 59 and so on...

This appears to be an 'input form' using 'Radio Buttons' to select the category. Neither of these features are supported in Numbers '09.
You can input the data on one table and summarize it on a second table, but the input table will continue to hold data for each event.
And by using the Reorganize button, you can hide all but two rows of that table to approximate the appearance and performance of an input form.
Here are the two tables, Data on the left and Summary on the right. Notes below.
The grey-filled columns in both tables are 'working' columns, and may be hidden (as shown in the image below).
    Data table:
D1 contains the word "TRUE" (in capital letters). (This row is always shown.)
D2 is empty, or may contain any value except "TRUE" (This row is always hidden under the Reorganize rule.)The rest of Row 2 of this table requires the data shown: a number outside the range to be counted (999), and two checkboxes, both checked.
D3 (and filled down the rest of column D):   =AND(OR(B2,C2),NOT(OR(B3,C3)))
The formula returns TRUE only for the first unused row in the table (ie. the first row for which neither checkbox has been checked)
    Summary table:
Column A contains labels for the age ranges to be counted.
Column B contains the same information in the form necessary for the formulas in columns C and D. They need a numeric value, and that value must be the largest acceptable value in the range to be counted.
C2 (and filled right to column D, then both filled down to row 5):
        =COUNTIFS(Data :: $A,"<="&$B,Data :: B,TRUE)-SUM(C$1:C1)
Two changes from the previous example:
COUNTIFS is used to separate the Native and Foreign counts as well as the age range to be counted.
The amount subtracted from each result is the SUM of the earlier results, and includes the text value in the first cell of the column (which is interpreted by SUM as a zero).
See note below regarding my earlier formula.
When the greyed columns are hidden and the checkbox in the Reorganize pane is checked, the two tables will appear as shown below:
Close the reorganize pane, and the 'data entry form' is ready to use.
To use, enter the age first, then check one of the boxes.
As soon as one box is checked, the row will be hidden, and the next (unused) row will be shown.
    Regards,
    Barry
Note regarding formula in my earlier post:
The earlier formula will give erroneous results as it subtracts only the count directly above it from its count of persons in the age range 0-n.
In E2 of that table, replace "-E1" with "-SUM(E1:E$1)
    Fill down to E8.
Ignore the instructions (in that post) following "Fill down to E8."

My external HD of 1TB is not being recognized by the iMac and when after a long waiting period it does, the whole computer becomes extremely slow. Do I need any particular add-on to make it workable?
Before I updated to OS X Mavericks I was using another external disk that was getting disconnected ocasionally so I bought a new ADATA HD710 portable 1TB Drive and moved the files to it. This new drive which is supposed to be OS X Mavericks compatible takes minutes to show the files especially when opening second and third level folders which has made mu iMac unusable
    What should I do?

Your Mac should be able to recognize many different types of drives (including Windows-formatted drives) immediately for Reading, provided they are in good working condition and not damaged. There should be no need to transfer to a different type of drive.
If there is no recognition of this drive, see if it can be seen in Disk Utility.
If your aim is to transfer the data on it DO NOT use ERASE or PARTITION as these will completely erase all the information on the Drive.
If the drive is present while the Mac sleeps, it is likely to drop out and not be seen any longer, especially if it is a USB-powered drive.

If I understand correctly, Sonic Kaboom.swf needs to be edited in a separate Flash authoring program and then reinserted into your HTML document.
As Murray said, Flash is dead.  Nobody uses it anymore.   We use HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript animations which have universal support from Smartphones, Tablets and other web devices that can't support Flash.   Look at Edge Animate.

I need to reinstall my original factory disc and reset my computer to the beginning. It currently has lion. Do I need to erase my HD first to clear and make new room for the install disc.

    Prepare Your Mac for Sale
Boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer.  After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.  After DU loads select the startup volume from the left side list then click on the Erase tab.  Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then click on the Options button.  Select the one pass Zero Data option and click on the OK button.  Then click on the Erase button.
Note: You can skip the Zero Data option if you are not concerned about removing sensitive personal data from the hard drive.  If you choose to skip this part of the process then it is possible for others to recover data from the hard drive.  The Zero Data procedure will prevent others from getting access to your personal information.
This process will take 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the size of the hard drive.  After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Now complete the OS X installation.  At the completion of the installation do not restart the computer.  Instead just shut it off.  The next user will be presented with the Setup Assistant when they turn on the computer just as it would if new out of the box.

G'day.  I am using iMovie 11 and need to clear disk space.  How can I do that using an external drive, leaving me the option to go back and make changes or access old events or projects from that external drive?

The slightly bigger question is whether you want to move all movie content to the external drive (essentially meaning that drive will always need to be attached when you're working with your videos), or whether you just want to archive older videos off to the external drive.
If you want to move all videos, then just move the 'Movies' folder in your home directory to the external drive, then create an alias of the external 'Movies' back in to your home directory. Now the 'Movies' icon in your home directory will point to the external drive and everything will just work (as long as the external drive is attached when you launch iMovie)
If you want to archive older movies then each Movie should have its own subdirectory within your Movies folder. These can easily be moved off to the external drive, and moved back should you ever need to work on those movies again.
