That's fine. Everybody has their own preferences. I find it odd that you feel the need to criticize mine. Personally, I've been a Prepress Tech for 25 years, the last 15 in a digital environment on Mac Workstations. I work with live fonts and outlined text every day. I've had way more headaches with font substitution and reflow than I've ever had with vector art. Most of the time, I leave live text as live text. But if I'm designing a Logo or art that is intended to be placed in multiple documents and probably scaled, I'm going to convert it to paths. Much less chance of the RIP screwing it up that way.
Your answer to OPs question was spot on. So was mine. There is rarely only one right way to create something in Illustrator. If you don't care for my methods, then don't use them. But let me assure you, I don't need any schooling from you. The fact that you seem compelled to engage me on this may say something about your personality. Micro-manage much?

For me, Jongware is right! It's very easy and cool to do it directly in InDesign (with totally editable text). Here's a sample:

Use the rectangular marquee tool to select half the image, then Layer>New Layer via cut. You can turn on the rulers and set a guide so you'll know the boundaries you want if you need it to be exactly half.
If you want to also be able to move the other half, before you start double click the background layer in the layers panel to turn it to a regular layer.

currently what i am doing is, using a script to get these header and footer and using document.write

I'm creating a method where I have to cut a bunch of characters down to 10 characters.
So Lets say I input ABCDEFGHIJKLM, it shoud return +"ABCDEFGHIJ"+. Also if I have characters shorter than 10 like ABC, it should just return +"ABC "+; with the spaces making up for the characters.
I got the method working, but the problem is that if I enter ABCDEFGHIJKLM, it just cuts it to C and returns +"C "+.
Can someone give me a hint where i'm going wrong with this?

I used to have Sprint on one line and left because the coverage is woefully lacking when compared to Verizon in my service area. This does not mean it wouldn't be sufficient for your service area and/or needs. You would have to decide that for yourself.

Need help getting information out of array and into text/object files

Im having alot of trouble with this i have the classes for the array, text reader and writer, and object reader and writer mostly done. I originally had a getInfo method in my object and text classes to input the data needed, but that wasnt how the instructor wanted. So my question is how do i take the infomation in the array in class studentarray and send that information to the text and object classes? I have looked online for an example and cant seem to find one that looks like it would work. I am pretty sure what i need will be put in the class StudentArray

Open java app and insert text

I'm looking for a little help on an exact problem that seems to have been solved here before (but doesn't work for me).

I have a java app for a Speco Technologies DVR. After opening the app, you must type in a rather long url and then click connect. If you enter the url, then quit the app, when you relaunch it, it does not remember the url that had been entered the previous time.
I would like to create a script that will launch the Java app and then input the url (text string). I cannot get this to work.
I've gotten as far as this:

AppleScript has a Syntax Error of "Expected end of line, etc. but found command name."
Does anyone ( taylor.henderson where are you! ) have a fix, or even a better way to do this? Can I edit the existing .jar to have the info directly in there?
I would actually love to add another section in there that fills in the username and password after entering in the IP address!
Just for clarification on how this goes:
Launch .jar.
Window Launches and prompts for IP address
Enter in IP address
Press RETURN
Windows disappears and new window appears and prompts for username and password
Enter Username
Press TAB
Enter Password
Press RETURN

Copy and paste text from pdf tablet to indesign cc 9.1

Is it poosible to copy/paste from a PDF (created from an exel-fil) into an inDesign-dokument without getting all the tekst into the first cell??
(Paste without formatting is not avaible)

If it's behind something else then you can open it in Illustrator and select the specific object you want. If it's rasterized then no.
If this is a document you can share with the world then I'm sure we could tell you what specifically is going on if you posted it here.

I want to cut a path in half. I've searched far and wide around the internet on how to do it but couldn't find any results. so how do I go about doing this? I've inserted an image to make answering this question easier.

make a rectangle and place it behind the line you need to cut
select both the line and the rectangle
grab the Scissors Tool and cut the line right where you see the center of the rectangle
delete the excess line and the rectangle

Export word to pdf and maintain font color inside tables

Hello,
I'm strugling with producing a PDF from Word document and keep the red colored text inside excel tables that are on the Word document.
From excel I copy the tables to Word 2007, with "Paste special --> Paste link as Microsoft Office Excel 2003 worksheet object".
In Word all the colors and objects are fine. The problem happens when I try to produce a PDF from that. The red and blue text inside the tables appears with black color on the PDF.
This happens always. With MsOffice Save as PDF, with Acrobat 9 save as Adobe PDF, print Adobe PDF and with free PDF Creator.
I've attached the *.doc and *.xls where this problem is occuring.

Solution found. For the pdf printers to work correctly it is necessary to adjust the format when copying from excel. That option needs to be enabled in advanced:
