I have a laptop whose motherboard just died. I need to decertify it on the itunes store but I cannot turn it on to do that. What can I do?

You can't deauthorise a non working PC.
WHen you have used up all 5 authorisations, you can deauthorise all your PCs from your store account and then reauthorise the ones you are using.

Go to the Store menu in iTunes, and select "View My Account..." When you get to the account page, click on "Deauthorize All." This will clear the list of computers authorized to play your songs. Then you can go and reauthorize them one at a time.

Depending on the definition of "died" you (or a helpful friend) may be able to extract the hard drive from the damaged computer, put it in an external drive bay and extract your iTunes library and other personal data from it.

Are these photos in your camera roll or were they synced to your 3G? Makes a big difference. If in your camera roll, you can use either iPhoto or Image capture to import them to your Mac. If they were synced to your 3G, you'll have to use third-party software to extract them:

Apple makes no provision to extract synced photos from an iOS device. Bear in mind, they were reduced in resolution when synced to your phone, & there's no way to recover their full resolution.

You'll likely need the assistance of some sort of 3rd party software. Keep in mind that the photos on your iPod are only scaled down thumbnail versions of the originals. So even if you do manage to copy them backt to your PC, they will not be in their full original resolution.
Do a simple Google search for "copy photos from ipod" and you should get a number of hits that can assist you.

When you reach the limit of 5 then you can deauthorize all.

Although all of the scenarios may be applicable, many folks find that the following section helps resolve their issue most often:
Authorize using the correct account name
The items you're trying to play might have been purchased using a different iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item, follow these steps:
Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you'll need to use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.
Note: The account name that appears is the one you used when purchasing the item and does not change if the account name (Apple ID) changes.
If you've authorized the Apple ID that is shown in the Summary tab, you can check the purchase history for that Apple ID from Store > View My Account. If your purchase history does not reflect the purchase of the items in your iTunes library, consider any other Apple ID you may have created, and authorize the computer for your additional Apple ID.
If you forgot the password to one of your accounts, you can recover it using Apple's password-recovery website.

why cant i download from one computer that has internet and use it on my other pc that has no internet,,, computer (a) has been working fine with our ipod,and we have about 4gigs of our music,,,but now we have a pc (b) that has the web, and we have music that we have paid for and cant download it.. the message pops up and says.. would you like to replace your Ipod libary with the one from this computer , we say no so we dont lose our music... we should be able to use the pcs in our house for our ipod i thought. ????????

If you use more than one computer, you'll need to use manual updates instead of automatic sync.

option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

It does not magically appear in a new place. It will only be where you put it.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
