Need to disable auto sync

When I originally got itunes, I had it set to automatically sync when I connected my ipod. Now that I have an iphone, I do not want it to auto sync, but I can't find how to change that setting. How can I disable the auto sync in itunes for Windows (Vista)? Thanks.

Look under Edit --> Preferences and then look up at the top of that window - there are a number of choices (General, Playback, Sharing, etc.) - click on Devices and then look down about halfway down the page - there is a place you can click to "prevent ipods, iphones ipads from syncing automatically" - hope that works for you.

  • Can I disable auto-sync on Shuffel iTunes 7.3 Vista OS

It seems odd that everytime I make a change to a single song on my iPod, iTunes performs a sync.
For example, I want to uncheck several songs loaded on my shuffel, but iTunes performs a sync after each time I de-select a check-box.
Can I disable automatic syncing after each change to a song or podcast on my shuffel?
    Thanks

  • Need to disable auto sms

    Hi
Need to disable the auto forward of a single message to my 'contact list'. I have not done any change to the sysytem, except a change in my 'tariff plan'. Probelm triggered since then.
My contacts are telling that they are getting a same message, over and again.
Message starts as - Protect your Mobile with Mobitracker.
Then it gives some IMSI number as well as IMEI number.
Can somebody help me in disabling the same?

Although you would need to backup essential data, you could always reset device to "Out of box" state by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by user). Just wondered whether change of tariff has been recognised by MobiTracker as change of SIM causing it to send out alert.

  • ITunes 10.5.3.3 installation - disable auto sync

I have tried everything to disable the AutomaticDeviceSync.  I have created the
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes\Parental Controls\Default\AdminFlags
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes\Parental Controls\UserFlags
I have tried every value and it still sets the Default iPhone/iPad Sync to on.
I even tried creating the DontAutomaticallySyncIPods = 1 in HCKU_Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\iTunes\Preferences.  When iTunes starts the first time, it will revert to 0.
    Please help!

Yes I restored for complete wipe for it to be a new iPod.  I tried again today to sync and this time I got results, it re-snyced all videos and some pictures. After that snyc was done I added in about 3 pictures. I tried it and this time it failed. I tried once more and the same thing. Oh and one more thing, whenever I now open iTunes it says' ApplePush has stopped working'
Could this be the main problem? Is ApplePush ceasing to operate the cause?

  • Disabling auto-sync, turning on "manually manage songs"

    Just so everyone here knows,
I had an iPod mini which I managed manually. I got the new iTunes, and plugged in my ipod. It said it was "updating", and I couldn't figure out how to make it stop. I thought it was going to delete my music and sync it with the library, so I stressed out a little bit.
But for EVERYONE else who has this problem:
-Don't worry! It says it's "updating" for about a minute, but it doesn't delete anything at all! It's just making sure it's connected properly, and then it lets you decide between auto and manual music selection right afterwards.
So basically, plug in the mini, and let it do it's thing, and it won't delete anything at all, and you can choose the manual option right afterwards.

Read through the above, because it's really not a problem, it's a solution.

  • HOW TO DISABLE AUTO SYNC ON OPEN  IN DW CC2014?

I HAVE IT UNCHECKED BUT IT STILL UPLOADS EVER FILE THAT's OPEN. Sorry about the caps.
    Nick

Yes it is extremely annoying isn't it?
To turn it off you go to Edit Preferences and then Site.
Then in Dependent files take the tick out of Prompt on get and Prompt on put. Apparently this turns off the automatic sync as per this help note in the forum:
    Dependent Files
Displays a prompt for transferring dependent files (such as images, external style sheets, and other files referenced in the HTML file) that the browser loads when it loads the HTML file. By default, both Prompt on Get/Check Out and Prompt on Put/Check In are selected.
It’s usually a good idea to download dependent files when checking out a new file, but if the latest versions of the dependent files are already on the local disk, there’s no need to download them again. This is also true for uploading and checking in files: no need if up-to-date copies are already at the destination.
If you deselect these options, your dependent files are not transferred. Therefore, to force the Dependent Files dialog box to appear even when these options are deselected, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Macintosh) while choosing the Get, Put, Check In, or Check Out commands.
    https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/set-site-preferences-transferring-files.html
So it is not obvious, but this is how you stop automatic sync every time you change your files in DW CC 2014 or save them.
However be warned, turning this off seems to stop Live View working. I have put a question about this in the forum and am awaiting an answer.

  • Need to disable auto printing of "comics" app

Set up my new Office Jet pPro 8600 last weekend and have noticed that a comics app prints daily. I did not do anything to schedule this, yet the app shows that it will print daily at a certain time. I could use some advice on how to disable this, as I am not interested in wasting ink to print comics that I am not interested in reading.
    thanks for any advice/help!
    Brad

These kinds of apps are called "Scheduled Deliveries".
You can unsubscribe from them by
signing on to the eprintcenter at http://www.hp.com/go/eprintcenter
    select your printer
scroll down to the "My Print Apps" section and you should see a list of apps. This would most likely have "comics" in the title in your case
Hover over the comics app and click on the "Remove" button in the upper right corner of the app icon.
You should no longer receive the comics.

  • Auto sync Will Not Switch Off

I am using a new Windows 7 machine which has  iTunes 11.0.2.26 version newly installed.
I have had what looks like a helpful answer to another problem but the solution starts with "Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under iTunes>Preferences>Devices(under Edit menu if using Windows)." Which I have done (I am using windows so went to Edit/preferences/devices and  "Prevents iPods and iPads from syncing automatically" box is not selected, in fact it wasn't when i found it.
But still,  as soon as I plug my iTouch in it syncs. Any answer would be helpful please to get me past first base on my other problem!

  • Playlist Created by User Auto Sync Fear

160g classic. i set up the computer and did auto-sync. afterward, i wanted to clean up the library, so i disabled auto-sync. i have since created a playlist on the ipod and put music to it. now i want to auto-sync the ipod, but am afraid that if i do, i will lose the playlist. it states that all information will be erased. does this include the playlist i created? all the documents i find are about the smart playlists, but not about the ones created by the user. please help. i would like to return to auto-sync, but not have wasted hours putting my playlist together. thanks!

If you return to auto-sync, the playlist will be removed from the iPod but the songs in the playlist will not be removed from the iPod as long as they are in your iTunes library.
To preserve the playlist, what you might do before changing back to auto-sync is to add the new playlist to the On The Go (OTG) playlist -- highlight your playlist's name and press the center button until it flashes. Check to see that your playlist was added to the OTG playlist. You might want to go into the OTG playlist and save it. When you return to auto-sync, the saved OTG playlist should be copied into your iTunes library, at which point you can simply re-name the playlist. There is a bit of unknown here -- normally when you're starting out in auto-sync mode and you create an OTG playlist, the OTG list is copied into iTunes on your next sync. But since your iPod is currently in manual mode, +the OTG playlist may get erased even though you've taken the extra step of saving it on the iPod+.
Another option may be to connect your iPod to iTunes and leave it in manual mode. Then hightlight all the songs in your playlist and copy them and paste the data into a spreadsheet (like Excel). That way you at least have a list to manually re-create the playlist if the above suggestion fails.

  • Disable Auto-Mounting

    Hi Everyone,
I have been searching forum after forum trying to find an answer to my question but am not having any luck. I have found one option but there has to be a better way. As I am taking a Computer Forensics major I need to disable auto-mounting of USB drives so I can manually mount the device with read-only options so I do not destroy evidence on drive I need to investigate.
About 3 versions ago in Ubuntu I was able to just uncheck a box in the system settings so it would not auto-mount. Then they decided to get rid of that option because it was not compatible with changes they made to other parts of the system. So to get around the auto-mounting I found that I could shutdown hal, plug the drive in, issue my mount command, then finally restart hal so network manager and other services that needed it could run right. This seems kind of pointless to have to shut down hal and break things just so I can mount a drive. Since I recently left Ubuntu behind and converted to Arch I thought I would see if you guys had any ideas.
I know I can add options to fstab but since I will get a different drive for every investigation this doesn't seem to be an option either.
Any help you guys could offer would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Timn

It is probably your window manager that does the auto-mounting, not arch. If it's gnome, there is a key in the gconf "/apps/nautilus/preferences/media_autorun" which you would need to disable. I do use FluxBox as a WM which does not do any mounting. These are the only window managers for which I can provide specific inforamtion. But no matte what you use, KDE, XFCE or something else, there should be a configuration that allows you to disable it.
If that didn't help, please provide more specific information about your setup.

  • Disabling default Sync iTunes with iPod (special case)

I would sincerely appreciate it if someone could answer my question:
I want to know if I can disable the iTunes default were it "automatically copies the songs and playlists in your iTunes library to your iPod, and deletes songs from your iPod that aren't in your library" when you connect your iPod to your computer. I know that you can do this from the iTunes preferences, but this requires you to connect your iPod and therefore lose all the songs on the iPod that aren't in the library before you would be able to change the setting. (my library has changed a lot and I don't want to lose all the songs that are only on my iPod).
Is there some kind of keystroke that you can use to prevent this default script from running so that I can change the setting without losing all the songs unique to my iPod? Thank you.
    +Possibly helpful info:+
I have iTunes 6.0.4 and an iPod Photo. I set up all of my music on my iPod using an earlier version of iTunes (likely version 5). In that earlier version, I changed the preference to disable auto-syncing, but I have since installed iTunes 6.0.4 and (can't tell)/(change the setting) unless I plug in my iPod

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys together. I believe this command has been the same from earlier versions of iTunes until now. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to change your settings: iTunes for Mac - Keyboard Shortcuts
