Need to disable onboard mic

As my iBook doesn't have an input, I recently picked up a usb interface to record audio. it works great except for the fact that I'm actually recording sound throug an external mic/mixer, so I need to turn off my onboard mic. I've gone into system preferences/sound and turned down the mic all the way, but am still picking up sound from the onboard mic. any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

  • How to disable T60p mic without disabling other mics?

I use a headset occasionally and I want the onboard mic to always be disabled while allowing a plugged-in mic to work. Any advice?

You can mute it with software or another simple external solution would be to plug a jack into the mic port, this will disable the internal mic. You can buy jacks at stores like RadioShack or cut one off a bad mic.
If you want to mute it try going to control panel>Sound, double click the integrated microphone and select "recording" tab and click on "levels". You should be able to mute just that mic.

  • Disable onboard Video

I have a onboard GeForce 6150SE, nForce 430, I want to change to GeForce 8400, My computer won't detect the new card, I changed bios to 16X and still won't find it, how do I disable onboard card and what do I need to change for the new one to load?- Do I need to change legacy boot?

I finally fixed it.  After flashing back to the newest bios, I did a hard CMOS clear and booted with just the mouse and keyboard plugged in to the top USB plugs (no LAN or audio hooked up) and it allowed me to disable it finally.
Every motherboard can disable onboard video... Just because it is part of the 790GX chipset doesn't mean it can't be disabled.  There is some sort of bug I don't even know how to reproduce for this motherboard.
edit: after saving and restarting it took away the disabled option and only went back to UMA or UMA+Sideport.  MSI engineers and/or bios team fails hard.  This is the only board I've ever seen act this stupid.

  • Need to disable Bluetooth

I have a customer who needs to disable Bluetooth on his new Macbook Pro for work in a security zone. We have renamed the IOBluetoothFamily.kext and IOBlutetoothHIDDriver.kext files (System/Library/Extensions) but the device can still be turned on in System Prefs. We need to be able to disable the ability to turn Bluetooth on most of the time, but have the ability to turn it on again when in a non-secure zone.
We need to do the same with the internal Mic...suggestions?

  • Should I disable onboard sound when..

Should I disable the onboard audio and stuff when I install the X-Fi. I installed my X-Fi some time ago and have never had any hardware problems with it, however recently I was in the BIOS options area (F2 at the splashscreen I think) and saw the option for disable onboard audio. Will it improve my system if I do disable it or will it require a reinstall of my soundcards driver and stuff. Any response is appreciated.

    Well,
You're supposed to disable it, Yes. Your system needs to know wich card you will use. May create conflict if you have both enabled. Yes, disable it.

  • Need help with onboard settings

Hello, dont know if this is the right place for my question so if it isnt can someone please direct me to the right one.
Ok well I just bought a MSI G31TM-P21 Motherboard yesterday and I also bought a Geforce 7300GT PCI express card (i know its not the best video card) but anyways I was wondering does the motherboard have a video jumper setting? Because the bios gives me the option of PCI-PCI-E, Internal as a startup choice, but when I plug in the monitor with the new card its blank. I tried clearing the CMOS but still nothing. So again does this motherboard have a video jumper setting or does the bios have a video disable feature that I am overlooking here?
    Thanks in advance

also make sure your BIOS is up to date.
Again, DONT update the bios unless absolutly necessary  .
And furthermore, please dont give this advice first hand, some people are not that confident with computers and may wreck it by updating, cause they use the wrong way, i.e. LiveUpdate or other win based program, which can be risky.
Read how much people killed their pc, by updating bios, "just for the heck of it" or "so that Ive got the newest bios", which is a load of ......
If you have a unsupported cpu, then you need to flash, no sooner!
    @ queequeeg,
    Hello and welcome.
Try as Alex said and set card to pci-e and disable onboard vga, if you have one and try again, do not update bios, cause vga cards dont need an biosupdate prior to installing, especially an older model vga like you have, must work normal without updating.
Also please list all your specs in a signature like mine, this way we can help better, i.e CPU, PSU, with full details on amp's, memory, vga, mobo etc.

  • Disable onboard decoders on Audigy 2

Help someone. I have a Audigy 2 ZS and just got Logitech Z-680 speakers. I am told I have to disable onboard decoders to utilize Logitech decoders for 5. digital. Logitech says go to Creative Audio HQ, click device controls icon, then select <FONT color=#ff3300>Decoder tab. then select SPDIF Passthrough. However, I do not have a Decoder tab to click on. Much less the SPDIF Passthrough. Any suggestions? I am using coax digital and analog 6 hookups however, when I'm digital which is required for DD I only have two channels. Logitech says its being decoded twice and ends up stereo not surround, so I'm supposed to disable the sound cards decoders. This is oem from Gateway. They are no help att all.

    Alsas,
It is not so. If I try my games, which are apparntly(cant spell it)y analog, there is no <EM>promblemo. I guess alot of games like anolog. Also if I play DVD Audio, No Problemo</EM>. I get surround at 24 bit 96 hertz. as long as I am in analog, and playing games that support it,or just plaiying two channel sound with CMSS, (which is great by the way,) it, just when I go digital. I get two channels only. Everybody thinks this is good to have all these decoders, but, I can tell you from my experience, DON'T BUY A SPEAKER SYSTEM WITH A DECODER, unless you need IT. Also, don't buy a factory system with a SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 2 ZS installed. Tell them you want to buy it in the CREATIVE box seperately. Otherwise, you won't get what you think you paid for. I talked to "CREATIVE" Service, and they informed me that the only part of the factory sound card you get when you buy one from a, Gateway, Hewlett Packerd, Dell, or, any body else in the computer business,is "The "Sound Chip" Quote. Not the sound card. The sound card is made by "whomever". Therefore, Creative, does not stand behind it. Because in their words, "It's not ours;"
That is why so many people get the response, "DO NOT DETECT". And then. "Talk to whom you bought it from." That is why so many people get a message " Don't Recognize" when they have a problem,or, when they try to download updates to new drivers, or, software, or whatever. Yet, when I pull the sound card to get the model number, as, Creative will ask you for, (before they deny you results) and ask you to remove the software, and reinstall it, which doesn't work, then they blame the OEM! Talk about passing the buck, WHEW!!!
I don't have any answers to any of this, I'm just talkining about MY own experience, in the hopes that some one has an answer to this, HAHA, or learn from it, without spending the hours that I have, trying to make this thing work right.

  • Can't seem to disable onboard video on MSI motherboard 661FM3-L

I have the following motherboard: MSI 661FM3-L. I'm running a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz with 1gb Ram on it. The motherboard works fine when I use the onboard video. I've now installed an ATI PowerColor 256 AGP 8x graphics card but the motherboard doesn't seem to use it. I plug the monitor into the graphics card and I can see the boot screen and go to bios but when windows begins to load the screen is all scrambled and then the monitor goes blank. I've changed in bios the first video setting (i'm not currently infront of the computer but its something along those lines) from PCI to AGP but I've noticed that when the systems first boots, on the first screen on the bottom line it shows the details of the onboard video card - SIS 651. It does not display the first splash screen of the ATI video card and so I'm guessing the onboard video is not properly disabled. I've checked the user manual and it does not state if there are any jumpers I need to change on the motherboard or if I need to change anything in BIOS. Can anyone help.
    Thanks

    apologies for lack of detail:
    System:
    MSI 661FM3-L
    Intel P4 3.0GHz
    1gb KingMax DDR400 DIMM
    Western Digital 80Gb HDD
BIOS - latest update from MSI Live Update
WinXP + SP2 + all latest Windows Updates
    Problem:
System works fine using on-board video.
Install PowerColor ATI 9600 Pro 256MB DDR AGP 8X video card, plug monitor to video card, system boots fine but when it gets to windows loading screen, the screen is all jumbled and then eventually screen goes black and monitor receives no signal. Attempted to load in windows Safe Mode and same thing happens.
Checked BIOS settings. Can't find anything to disable onboard video other then the "first video" setting which I changed from PCI to AGP.
The first boot screen which displays Memory count and Primary and Slave drives, displays a message on the bottom of the screen saying "SiS651" which is the name of the onboard video. Also there is no first splash screen of the ATI video card which I'm pretty sure should be seen before the first boot screen.
Performed MSI LiveUpdate of BIOS in DOS mode and this didn't change anything.
Video Card works fine on another PC.
Motherboard manual does not specify to change any jumpers or BIOS settings.

  • User Settings in ALV - need to disable

Hi - I need to disable the user settings for ALV, I try from if_salv_wd_std_functions ~ set_dialog_settings_allowed( abap_false ) but is working fine for the screen, if I go to the column and do right click, the user settings are enable at the column level.
Is there any way I can disable the column user settings?
    thanks!
    Jason P-V

    Hi Jason,
I simply set the WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION parameter of my component's apllication to 'X' and now i don't see the usersetting option when I right click even on the column of the ALV. You can try that.
To do so: double click on your application, go to the parameters tab, make it editable, in the parameters column get 'WDDISABLEUSERPERSONALIZATION' parameter and set its value as 'X'.
    I hope it helps.
    Regards
    Arjun

  • Need to disable Options Internet Options in CHM

I see how to disable the Options button, but I don't want to do that. I only need to disable the Internet Options menu item. Can anyone tell me how to do that?
This is required by several of our customers. Thank you.

    Hi there
All I can say is that if that's an absolute requirement, CHM isn't your thing. That option is simply part of the CHM viewer application that Microsoft is in control of. No way to change that to my knowledge,
    Cheers... Rick

  • Need to disable the clearing of browsing history and what is the "about:config" function for it?

I am working on an Group Policy Administrative template for Wetdog.exe, and it's awesome by the way. Just want to know what function to use (listed in "about:config" url) so i can turn this feature off entirely.
I don't want my users deleting browsing history, or have any ability to view it either.
Still, i want the browser to keep at least 30 days of history.
This is EASILY accomplished in Internet Explorer via GPO, but not so much in Mozilla with wetdog.exe and it's admin templates. I am using Windows Server 2003 enterprise edition R2 on 2 domain controllers, and Windows XP Professional SP3 client workstations with Mozilla 3.6.3 and the latest version of Wetdog.exe and it's admin templates.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!
