Need to download folios repeatedly in Adobe Content Viewer

Hi:
We are using Adobe Content Viewer (ACV) for a digital education project. The ACV app is used in iPad´s and when are turned off, we need to download again all the folios previously downloaded to the ACV app.
Someone who has the same problem, how to fix it?.
Thanks,
Oscar

I am using iPad 2 with iOS 7.0.4. and latest ACV, more than 10 gb free.
1. Basically, I download a folio on my iPad device, I can open it and everything is just fine. When I click "remove issues from library" I see  both folios, one occupies 28 mb, the other one 48 mb. One is made for viewer version 20 the other for 26.
2. Then, I shut down the device completely and turn it back on after few seconds.
3. I launch ACV, both of those folios appear just fine, until I click on them.
4. Just as I click on a folio, the background appears just light gray, without any content. If I tap on the screen, I don't even get top menu, where I can return to library. So I have to force quit ACV.
5. When I launch ACV again, both folios have the cloud icon next to them, and I need to download them in order to view them, HOWEVER, when I click "remove issues from library" button, I see that both folios are still there with the same mb size.
So, it looks like they are still on the device, but for some reasons I need to re-download them again.
Unfortunately I don't have any other iPads to test these folios.
Just to remind, this happens only to 2 out of many folios, both were made in summer last year, they are not published and are only used on the current device as presentations.
Regarding updates, to be honest, I don't remember if I had this prior to last iOS update, but I might not have noticed that.
Usually, if I see there is an update, I just update it.
Is there anything you would recommend to try?
I have not yet tried to remove ACV from the device and re-install. Or unshare that folio and share it again.

  • Folios Missing in Adobe Content Viewer on iPad

I'm signed into my adobe account in indesign on my desktop, as well as in adobe content viewer on my iPad. All of the folios I've designed are saved, updated, and uploaded onto my cloud (they are also all visible in my folio panel). However, none of these saved presentations are visible in adobe content viewer even thought I'm signed in. I need to be able to get these presentations onto the iPad as soon as possible.

Same thing with us.  I have 35 iPads that I need the content viewable on ACV.
24 are iPad 2, iOS7, latests ACV  - I can download, view once, then next time it dissapears
11 are New iPad (4th gen) , iOS7, latest ACV, I can download once, then next time it dissapears
1 iPad Air, iOS7, latest ACV, can download and the folios are persistent.  They always appear.
We need a fix for this ASAP.  We have presentation using these in 7 days.
    More information......
iPad air is on iOS7.0.3 - no problem (not sure if it is software or hardware releated)
iPad 2's are on iOS 7.0.04
10 of 11 of the new iPads (4th gen) are on iOS7.0.4 and folios delete
1 of the new iPads (4th Gen) is on iOS 6.1 and the folios self delete here too.

  • Viewing Folios with DPS Folio Producer and Adobe Content Viewer on IPad?

What is the path to viewing a folio, on an IPad, that has been published with the DPS Folio Producer.
Opening Adobe Content Viewer on IPad has no obvious path to the folio in the Producer.
There is no obvious path to the library in Adobe Content Viewer, either?
Logged in both with Adobe I.D.
    Using ID CS6 on Windows.
Also as a Creative Cloud single member what is the process of being able to publish unlimited apps to the IPad.
Thank you in advance for your response.
    James Goins

Unfortunately, if you're on Windows you have no process to publish an
    app. You need a Mac.
I wish Adobe would allow Creative Cloud members to use the same process
that Pro and Enterprise subscribers have by exporting a zip file. You
still need a Mac but you can pretty much use any Mac you have access to.
With Creative Cloud to publish a Single Edition app, you must have
InDesign installed on a Mac and you generate the app by choosing create
app from the folio builder panel menu.
All that said, if you create a folio while signed into the folio builder
panel, that folio should show up in Adobe Content Viewer as long as
    you're properly signed into it.

  • Error downloading folio to iPad via Content Viewer

    Hello,
I'm having issues getting the folio to download to the Adobe Content Viewer for iPad app . . . every time I get this message "Error downloading folio. Please try again later."
    I've built a single-app folio:
    1024x768
    Viewer version: 20
    Orientation: Horizontal
    PDF format
Adobe InDesign CS6 with the latest folio tools and builder
The folio consists of a single article with one page that contains two video files (two thumbnails that play full screen when activated)
    OSX 10.8.2
I have both an iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation that I have Adobe Content viewer on (latest version, iOS 6)
I've tried deleting the Content Viewer app and re-downloading a fresh version, I've tried completely rebuilding the folio from scratch, I've also created a new Adobe user name with a fresh account to try the folio with . . . and every time it uploads fine with no errors . . . . but refuses to download to the iPad.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I should try??

Doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong at all. It could be due to some performance problems on our servers that are creating problems downloading large files. Here are a few things that you could try:
If the folio is not already published, try publishing it as private. Downloads of published folios are often quicker.
Try creating two articles each having one video. Downloading two smaller files is typically better than downloading one large file.
If that still doesn't work, you can share the folio with [email protected] and I'll be glad to take a look.

  • Can't test PDF folio on desktop Adobe Content Viewer

    Hi all,
I get an error when I'm trying to test my PDF formatted folio on my desktop Adobe Content Viewer.
I get the error in Dutch (my language) but roughly it translates: "This folio contains one or more stacks that are not yet supported for the Content Viewer for Desktop. PDF stacks are only supported in iOS-viewers."
This happens when I click "preview" in the folio builder. I work on a Macbook with Mac OS X Lion.
Help would be appreciated since I can't find anything about this issue with PDF formatted folio's on the internet!
    Thanks.

@Haeme – does not work for me. Sometimes yes, sometimes the Desktop Content Viewer is showing is a gray field.
Will test further, if there are any constraints concerning the rendering process of different objects.
Tested again. I had some MSOs on the second page that prevented rendering. They contain nothing but empty rectangles.
After removing ONE of the MSOs the rendering was fine. Did not matter if I removed the one or the other MSO.

  • Error when downloading folio file to ipad content viewer

    Hi All
I have been working on an indesign folio file for a couple of weeks now and publishing to the content viewer on my ipad, which has been fine, today all day I have an error download message please try later.
have restarted Ipad, uninstalled viewer and reinstalled but still no joy. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

  • Re: Can't test PDF folio on desktop Adobe Content Viewer

    Hi Bob,
I know this is an old thread, but I got this same error while following along with your DPS Essential Training Lynda.com tutorial, chapter "Previewing Your Work" on the desktop, using the tutorial files for that chapter as directed. I'm using CS6, and the viewer version goes no higher than 24; when I check for updates, there are none available. Might this error be related to viewer version or an error in my folio creation?

Bob, Thanks. I figured as much. However, as mentioned, when I try to update through InDesign Help as you recommend in the tutorial, no updates show for Adobe DPS; also when I log in to the Folio Builder panel, I can't even use anything since it's not updated.
To circumvent, I downloaded the most recent update. But when I try to install, I get this message:
DPS Desktop Tools CS6 32.0.0 Update
Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M2P28
Not sure where to turn next as clearly things need to be updated. Thanks for any insight.

  • Cannot locate Folio Overlays or Adobe Content Viewer in Indesign

The problem first started when I was working in the digital publishing suite on an app in Indesign.  First I could not preview the app on the desktop. There was nothing wrong with the articles or the folio rather it would load the articles and then just not do anything.  I tried updating Adobe and then I couldn't even find my Overlays panel which I had just used before updating.  To top things off now my folio producer is not working because it says that a software update is required to use Digital Publishing Suite.

Moved to DPS forum. What version of InDesign? What platform?

  • Cannot download folio in adobe content viewer - urgent help please

    Hello,
my folio won't download in my Adobe content viewer ("cannot connect to server") and I would have needed it for a presentation at the client - the client also wanted to download the folio on his device but the same error came up. I tried it then with another iPad, same problem on 3 different iPads. I uninstalled the ACV app, installed it again, removed old issues of the magazine from the iPad and tried all that. But everything failed. In the past it always worked fine. This time, the only difference is that I have 2 Youtube videos as "web content" in the folio, but I can't imagine that could be the problem. There were no problems when having the iPad connected to my laptop, everything worked fine. But without cable connection and trying to download it into the Adobe content viewer, the download does not work. Can somebody help me please? And will that have a negative affect on the submission towards the Apple App Store?

    Hello Neil,
I tried 2 different wireless networks with 3 different iPads and I had the problem with all networks and iPads unfortunately. When I did other app magazine issues for that client in the past, everything always worked fine with the 2 different networks and there were no settings changed. This is why I am so confused about this.
Meanwhile, I have managed to give my client access by private-publishing the folio via the Folio Panel with my personal Adobe ID and I gave my client my personal Adobe ID for that. Not the ideal solution but at the moment that works.

  • Adobe Content Viewer, library downloading issue

I have the free version of the folio building tools currently with acrobat.com as I test the capabilities of the publishing suite for our company. I updated the folio tools, can sign in, create a folio, and it appears OK in the shared workspace on acrobat.com. I sign into the Ipad and open up the Adobe Content Viewer app. I sign in and it gives me the message downloading library. Here is where the problem happens. After it is finished loading, nothing updates. I can't get the folio to load into the Ipad and neither can my workmate who I shared the file with. I made sure the app was completely up to date.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?  Is this a common problem?
    ~ V

    All,
I just worked with another customer reporting the same circumstances, and it turned out that, as part of their migration from prerelease to their purchase of DPS, they had not provisioned the Adobe ID that they used to build their custom Viewer app. I need to know the name of your company, and the Adobe ID used to build your app, to determine if this is the cause of your failures.
Alternatively, if you have not yet purchased DPS, then your failures are due to the shut down of the prerelease program.
    Matthew
I just work for the company so I would not be able to get a hold of their Apple ID. We have the Creative Suite and I am working in InDesign CS5 with the updated folio tools extension.
I wanted to confirm that because the prerealease program is shut down, those with the free acrobat.com account can not publish a folio to the Adobe Content Viewer?  Because a few weeks ago, we could. I can still see my folio in the shared workspace on acrobat.com

  • Adobe Content Viewer - Folio demo

    Hi guys,
I have a question that a client ask to me and I didn't know how to properly answer to it...
I showed him a demo version of a Folio through his Adobe Content Viewer App on iPad.
Then I told him that when the Folio is finalize, we will need to publish it to the iTunes Store in order for this employees to download the app on their iPad.
But the client told me that, an other agency was just sharing the application for FREE by email.
I saw a video of Terry White explaining HOW to share a Folio with an unlimited number of people however, I still have questions :
    - Will the FREE folio last forever ? If I share it with 100 people will they be able to use it all the time ?
    - If I decide to publish the folio with a single edition will I be able to share this content with an unlimited number of people without using iTunes ?
Thanks in advance for your time.
    Best,
    J.

No way to do that through email. This was possible in the prerelease but no more. That said, the sharing system is based on email addresses. The person(s) you want to share with must have those email addresses registered as Adobe IDs.
Forever is a long long time, but there’s no time limit I know of for shared folios though the Adobe Content Viewer.
Single Edition folios must be distributed through iTunes. The only way around that is through very high priced Enterprise accounts through Adobe and Apple.

  • Folio not opening in adobe content viewer

About a year ago, I created a magazine with Digital Publishing Suite for a college course and uploaded it to my ipad in Adobe Content Viewer. It was from a school computer and version of Indesign so I don't think I'd be able to reload the file onto the content viewer app if I needed to. When I open the content viewer, I see the cover of my magazine alongside an Adobe file that says "Release". This Adobe file is newly there, and so is a blue plug icon on the top corner of my magazine. When I click my magazine, the little info "i" turns into a spinning symbol, as if it were loading. However, nothing loads and nothing happens. I left it for hours and nothing happened. When I click to open the Adobe release file, it opens to a light grey screen with no content, buttons, or anything. There is nothing I can click on or do so it forces me to exit and quit the app.
Can someone please help me in figuring out what is causing it to not open? I'm frustrated at this point and am nervous to delete and redownload the app in case my file is lost. Like I said, not sure if it would still be there or if I could get it back again. (I also am signed into the app with my Adobe ID, if that helps)
    Thanks!

Unfortunately you need to uninstall and reinstall the Adobe Content Viewer app, and doing so will result in the loss of the folio you see because you added it to the device using Preview on Device. Since you did this a year ago there have been several iOS changes that required updates to the application. There's really no way to resolve this without uninstalling, reinstalling, and then putting the content onto your device again.

  • Edge Animate file turns black when viewed in Folio, but worked great in adobe content viewer before uploading to folio panel.

    What am I doing wrong?
I created simple animations to work in DPS. Basically hot spot button that toggle on and off showing features and benefits. When viewed and tested in adobe content viewer, everything worked great. Now that I am ready to upload the folio as an ipa app. The animations turn black over the image that it is supposed to be on top of.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Neil, that worked once I'd installed it directly into the Applications folder, not within a subfolder.
So if anyone else has this issue, install the Desktop Viewer app for CC and it works for both CS6 and CC.
NOTE, that you need to double-click the Install Adobe Content Viewer.app file, don't look for a file called Install Adobe Content Viewer.air as per the instructions, as they are out of date.
Phew, I have finally got all my DPS functionality back, and have created a V27 app using V28.

  • Problems with Adobe Content Viewer for V30 Folios

Is anyone else experiencing problems viewing V30 folios on the Adobe Content Viewer app for ipad and iphone. It asks me to download a newer version of the App but as far as I can see I am using the newest version (3.4.5)

The v30 ACV has not been approved by Apple yet.

  • Private app distribution: dev version / testflight / adobe content viewer / b2b distribution

    Hi Adobe Community!
I am finalizing an app for my company that is supposed to be distributed only among our distributors. Apple rejected my Enterprise inquiry since our distributors are not our employees. I wanted to sum up my distribution options now and ask you for feedback. I do not plan to use App Store.
    1. B2B distribution through apple
I can distribute custom b2b app through Apple, but it is available only in few european countries and this does not cover our needs since we cannot supply to all distributors. Also the process looks very complicated and I'd like to not use it.
    2. Adobe Content Viewer distribution
If I tell my customers to download Adobe Content Viewer and sign in with my Adobe ID, the newest version of folios will be automatically downloaded to their devices?
Also on Adobe website it is stated that my folios should be automatically uploaded to Adobe servers - but they are not. From what I read on the forums I understood that it is only available to Creative Cloud subscribers, is it right? If I subscribe will I be able to use this way for as many users I want?
    3. Developer version
Finally I know that I can distribute dev version. I will have to register devices UDIDs but they will expire (after what time?) and how many UDIDs can I register (I read in different places that I can have 50 or 100 testers).
    4. TestFlight
What I undestood so far is that facilitates developeloper version distribution, but wouldn't I be able to use this tool to go around UDIDs expiration?
    Thank a lot!

With DPS enterprise and Apple enterprise account, you can built and deploy enterprised signed app internally within your organisation. Create the app, deploy and host it internally, so anyone who has access to the link can download the app. Not sure if Apple terms allows your distributors from outside your organisation to access and download the app hosted internally within your organisation, check that with Apple.
If Apple terms does not allow, then you can use DPS restricted distribution method to deploy the app on the Appstore, but allow someone access to the content only if they are authenticated via the app, called direct entitlement or restricted distribution. Go here for details: Using restricted distribution with Digital Publishing Suite
Signing in to ACV does not automatically download the latest folio. Your folios are always uploaded on Adobe servers, you cannot host it somewhre else. Anyone can create, upload folios and see the folio in the Adobe Content Viewer. But publishing the folio to be available in an app requires DPS subscription.
You can register upto 100 UDID's on Apple dev portal. I don't think the UDID's expires so long as your Apple Dev account is active but the certificates expires exactly one year from the day it was generated.
