Need to enable html snippet insertion in CS4

The insert html snippet option is disabled on my insert menu and I need to enable it. Please help. Thanks.

Hi,
The website administrator has to enable the permission for inserting HTML snippet, for your role, for the Insert HTML Snippet menu to be enabled. If you are the website administrator, you can follow these steps to enable the Insert HTML snippet menu item:-
Launch Contribute and select Edit -> Administer Websites, and select your website.
The Administration dialog for your website will be shown.
Select a role (for ex, Administrator), and click Edit Role Settings button.
The Edit Role Settings dialog will be shown.
In this dialog, select Editing from the left panel, and check the check box for 'Allow HTML Snippet Insertion'.
For more information, click the following link http://blogs.adobe.com/contribute/2009/06/are_you_a_power_user_try_using.html
Hope this helps. Cheers.

• Need to enable HTML snippet in CS5

I need help enabling the HTML snippet in with my CS5 version of contribute. Our website was created by a firm that used CS3. They no longer use this tool or have access to contribute. I am set up as a administrator, but it appears I don't have full administrator rights. How can I gain these if the orginial administrator no longer has access? Please HELP!

1) FTP to your site in the server.
2) Navigate to the cthub****.csi file under _mm folder
3) Edit the file and make the value <allow_html_snippet_insertion value='true' />
This will enable the html snippet option for your site for that particular role.

• Problems setting 'allow HTML snippet insertion' in Contribute 4

I am trying to set the administrator option to allow insertion of HTML snippets (as described here). But the dialog box to change the settings does not include an "Allow HTML Snippet Insertion" checkbox.
Any advice? Is this to do with the version of Contribute I'm using? Or is there some other administrator setting I need to set first?

Hi ravster.
Thanks for the suggestions. I had read the Arch NFS HowTo and did as you suggested get rcpinfo for the server machine. The Libranet NFS server is configured rather different since the NFS daemons are built into the default kernel.
Since I needed to complete the transfer immediately, I gave up for now trying to set up NFS and used netcat (!) instead to transfer the files from the Libranet laptop to the Arch workstation. The laptop will be converted to Arch Linux soon so I think I'll be able to clear things up soon. I haven't had any problems setting up NFS with homogeneous (i.e., all Arch or all Libranet) computer combinations.
Thanks again.

• Enabling html snippets

Hi, I'm a new Contribute user. My web site was designed by a fellow in England using DreamWeaver, but he's no longer involved in the site design. When I went to insert an html snippet, the feature was greyed out in my command line and the instructions said I needed to have the administrator enable permission to change code. Is there a way to insert new code, like for Google ads or PayPal buttons, without enabling these permissions, since I only have the Contribute and not the DreamWeaver available. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Thanks for asking -- copy and paste works, but I was unable to open the snippet box in the first place! I learned that I was able to make myself the administrator of the site, and then was able to go and enable the html snippet function, which had not been checked. Sincerely, Aaron Elson

• Inserting html snippets for paypal buttons into templates

I can insert html snippets(for pay pal buttons) into an iweb page that I've created but if I go to the slide shows and try to add a button to those it puts the buttons on ALL the slides. Any remedy as I'd like to use the photo templates AND pay pal buttons.

• Inserting HTML snippet in signature

Any easy way to include a countdown timer snippet in a signature block?

I have questions that you can perhaps answer regarding website building.
I've designed the Axleart website in iWeb which is Apple's easy to use but hard to customize program.
http://www.axleart.com
IWeb uses java-script based photo albums which are nice to navigate through but hard to customize.
What I want is to add a html snippet (which creates a Paypal or other shopping cart button) in the caption of each photo in the album.
iWeb doesn't allow me to edit the html or Javascript directly but I can publish the site to a local folder, then edit it there, then upload it from there through ftp to my server.
I use a program called iWeb SEO Tool to add title tags and keywords and meta tags and google analytics code. It reads from the local folder then adds the info then uploads to the server.
Each time i re-edit the site in iWeb, iWeb erases all those tags and stuff (I think). Each time I open it in iWeb SEO Tool, it reapplies all the tags and stuff that I have saved in that program.
This page shows how Cyclosauraus has added paypal buttons to a photo album:
http://www.cyclosaurus.com/iWeb3Widgets/PayPalBeGone/Photos.html
So before I try to edit the Javascript per Cyclosaurus' suggerstion, I have an important question:
If I add paypal buttons into the captions for the photos in the albums, will they get erased each time I re-edit in iWeb and make it too time consuming to be worthwhile? Is there a workaround for this like what iWeb SEO Tool does?

• WEB WIDGET - HTML SNIPPET how to post myspace music in iWeb

i'm making a site for a band. i'm using the *web widget- html snippet* to insert the myspace player from a band. the bands site is http://www.myspace.com/mod39lone.
this is the code i'm putting in :
<embed src="http://lads.myspace.com/music/musicplayer.swf?n=aHR0cDovL211c2ljLm15c3BhY2 UuY29t&t=wz7NYVvdN1sD5sZn5jwqhteIJEBAWtU7cGxSvblOZr59VYuvhFOEuaUs29mG1lCNKsOUiB4 00Vl6iAOogScxHQ==&u=LTE=&a=0&d=MTc4MzA0MTgxXjExODc3NDE1MjU=" quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF width="450" height="345" name="mp3player" align=""type="application/x-shockwave-flash" FlashVars="culture=nl-NL"pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplay er">
when i'm editing iWeb, the player shows up and plays the music and everything is fine! but when i publish the site, it says "Movie not loaded" when you click on it.
the site i'm currently working on is still being worked on, but i made an extra page to show whoever could help me. the link is:
http://web.me.com/henreegee/IamTokyo/Blank.html

That method can be done using iFrame code in an HTML snippet. You need to upload the Family Matters - Computer.m4v file to your server and link to it there via an HTML snippet and iFrame code. An example is in this demo page along with the code: QT movies via iFrame.
There are other ways to add the movie (the full one Family Matters - Computer.m4v.
One is to upload the file to your server and linking to it as shown in this demo page: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window.
The method you posted is explained in this tutorial: Old Toad's Tutorial #18 - Adding Movie/Video File to iWeb Page via Export for Web in Quicktime Player. To see the edits click on the buttons in steps 5a and 5b.

• IWeb, HTML Snippet, and MySQL via GoDaddy (db already built)

I have a site (zigcodes.info) that is hosted by GoDaddy. I built the site using iWeb. No complaints there. I have a MySQL database and table built to store codes added by users. There is also one called "hit list" on another page, but I haven't finished coding it. I need to solve this problem before I can finish that page. So far, I've successfully linked my submit forms to the database. When a user adds a code, it does indeed populate into the database (hooray for small miracles).
Of course, doing this dumps the user onto a blank white page, but I think I can fix that with a redirect at the end of the php file used by the form. My problem comes in when I try to display the codes in the database on my page. I know how to query the db using SELECT * FROM, but I can't figure out what to do with the data after that.
I'm having a heck of a time getting the HTML Snippet widget correct in iWeb. I've seen suggestions that are all over the place, but can't seem to get any to work. I'm told that may be a viable solution, but I am at a loss as to how. Honestly, my site is very simple and I don't need fancy functionality. All I need is a list, in table form would be nice but really not necessary, of the 30 names/codes most recently added to the db by users of my site. I can get the echo command to print headers for my data, but not the data itself.
Will work, and if so, how? If not, what's my best bet? Should I go with a table in the HTML Snippet widget, with tags like <? echo "$code"; ?> inserted into my

content? Or, would it be best to use the solution with an external php file? Or am I way off on all of these? I do know that iWeb won't do it for me with it's own magic, but it seems like there should still be a way to add code into the HTML Snippet widget and display the db data on the iWeb designed page. Help?

Yeah, the code you suggested isn't live now because I always remove changes to my code that affect no change. It makes for a cleaner build later. Here are some variations of your sugestion that I tried:

AND

AND

I even tried this because I saw other people suggesting it in similar forums:

All of the above produce the exact same, unwanted result: a blank white screen with the URL of my .php file (the one that handles the form post).

• HTML snippet _Analytics

Hi,
I'm trying to add an HTML snippet with my Google Analytics code and the snippet is not being added to the page. Has anyone an idea of what I need to do to make it publish with the code?
Perhaps I need to add some before/after tags?? (I'm a bit lost with HTML, but Apple say in the iWeb-09 Help, that you can add any sort of HTML using the snippets.
iWeb-09 3.01, publishing to iDisk (Web/Sites). I'm syncing iDisk locally.
Grant

Okay ... answering my own question. This may well be useful for lots of iWeb-09 users who would like to use Google Analytics on their sites.
*HTML snippets do indeed work.*
_The problem :_
When you choose to insert an HTML Snippet, iWeb-09 always places it in the body of the page. If you try to move it elsewhere, it won't go. Instead, it simply pushes the boundary between the parts to enlarge the body.
_The solution :_
You must put the snippet into the page 'Footer'. To move the snippet into the Footer, you must hold down the Command (Apple) key when moving it. That's all.

• How to change appearance of text in HTML snippet?

Does anyone know if / how I can make the text inside an HTML snippet (when rendered in the overall HTML page) appear like the text on the rest of the page?
Here, you can see an example of what I mean: http://zach.in.tu-clausthal.de/tmp/iweb.png
So, the HTML snippet contains, effectively, a hyperlink to an email adress - now I would like to make the email adress look like all other links on my web page.
I have tried to insert a inside the HTML snippet, to no avail.
Any other ideas, suggestions, and insights will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Gabriel.

Normally you would just use a style for the so that you can style the link and rollover.
If you want to use this code as is, put the CSS into the snippet. You don't need a span "class".
Change the span to this...
zach in.tu-claushal.de
... and add the style...

Change the font type, size and color to taste.
I have expressed the size in ems but you can use pixels etc.
If you don't want the underline, change "text-decoration" to "none".

• HTML Snippets- I can't edit them!

Hey,
I've been having this issue since I deleted a bunch of files and folders (which I thought belonged to removed applications) from ~/Library and /Library.
What happens is, when I insert an HTML snippet, I see a small box that looks like it's for inserting text, but I can't edit any of the HTML. Clicking on the box has no effect. When I drag things like Google Maps and Countdown Timer onto a page, the same, obstinate box appears, and refuses to comply with any requests I make.
So I think what I need to do is delete the file ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain and recreate my site in iWeb. I'm pretty sure this is going to work, because I restored my system once, and after it didn't find my site, and created a new Domain file, I no longer had the problem (of course, after I moved Domain back to its previous location, I wound up having the same problem, again).
Anyway, I'm just wondering whether there's a simpler way to fix up this mess. Although I think my site could benefit form an overhaul.
Thanks!
SeanDaBomb

Try quitting iWeb, deleting the preference - Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist,
restarting your Mac, running Disk Utility to repair permissions and relaunching.

• Can't import/open HTML files in Fireworks CS4

I'm trying to import/open HTML files into Fireworks CS4 to do some redesigning. I inherited the job of redoing my companies website and we believe the person who created our website created the site using Dreamweaver 8. Unfortunatley that person moved on to a new job across the country and we can't ask him exactly how he created our website.
When I try to open some of the HTML files in FW I get the message: "Could not open the file....Fireworks could not find an HTML table in this file". Next I tried creating a new, very simple HTML page in Dreamweaver CS4 that contains just a few lines of text and 1graphic (we just bought the CS4 web suite). Again, I get the same error.
Other files give me a slightly different error message when trying to open them in FW, "The HTML document contains one or more images with absolute web addresses for the source. Fireworks cannot handle these images. --click OK-- (next error message) Could not open the file. Fireworks has encountered a problem with the HTML in this table. Verify that the HTML is valid"... and then it closes and nothing loads into FW. Bummer.
I've searched on these forums and can't find any solutions to this problem although I found a few people experiencing the same problem.
Do I need to do something to the Dreamweaver created HTML's to get them to open in FW? Any help would be appreciated.

Fireworks is a graphics editor that can export code; it is not an HTML/code editor.
If you have exported HTML from Fireworks, you ought to be able to re-import that, but I would think most people who use Fireworks exported code would just modify their Fireworks document and re-export. (Fireworks' code is not robust and it is only intended for mockups and prototypes. Fireworks is not intended for developing and maintaining live Web sites; Dreamweaver is.)
If your developer used Dreamweaver, then I really don't expect that Fireworks would be able to import that, nor any code that isn't in exactly the format that it can export. If you know your developer used Fireworks, then you need to look for .png files. Fireworks uses an enhanced version of the PNG format for its native document format.
If you are making small adjustments to your site, then you might be better off working in Dreamweaver. If you're doing a site re-design, then Fireworks is an excellent tool for laying out your design and producing your graphics, but you will, at some point, need to move over to Dreamweaver for coding.

• Integrating Rafflecopter HTML Snippet

I'm using iWeb to host a contest and need to incorporate the rafflecopter widget for registration and tracking. Whenever I paste the code from Rafflecopter (below), I just get a line of text saying "a rafflecopter giveaway". I'm no expert on HTML, so anyone know how to get the content to display?

You need javascript enabled to see this giveaway.

Actually, that didn't fix the problem. I would love to learn more about HTML, but I don't have time at the moment. I pasted the following code into the widget as directed and it's still just an empty frame. Ideas?

/*{literal}*/
window.RAFLIN = window.RAFLIN || {};

• How to capture an HTML snippet like dashboard widget?

How do you copy a website html to paste into an iWeb 09 html snippet? Is there a copy command in the Safari browser like when you clip a snippet to make a Dashboard widget? That would be too easy. Do I need some other software for copying the html?

Photog Dog wrote:

Drag your pointer over the embed code so that it is all highlighted in blue. Then do ⌘C to copy it and then paste it into iWeb's HTML Snippet window by doing ⌘V.
Is there a copy command in the Safari browser like when you clip a snippet to make a Dashboard widget?
No — Only the general ⌘C and ⌘V editing commands mentioned above.
Do I need some other software for copying the html?
No.
