Need to fax from my hp printer

Faxing

Hey @Barbdeak !
Thanks for chatting on the HP forums!
I would be happy to assist you with fax setup!
Fax setup is relatively the same on all HP printers but some HP printers use a feature called eFax. EFax is only supported by the HP Cloud Services department. I can provide you with information regarding Setting Up the All-in-One to Send and Receive Faxes.
If your printer is using the eFax feature then you will need to call HP Cloud Services.  Please call our Cloud Services at 855-785-2777.  If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.  http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html
Here is a link to the Supported Printers for eFax. This should help you determine if you need to call HP Cloud Services or follow the document provided.
Let me know if this was useful information and please post back with the results of your troubleshooting.I hope this was helpful.

  • Cannot fax from my 8600 printer. I have wireless connectivity -- no active telephone line.

I am using Windows XP, and an HP OfficePro 8600 All-in-One.  I cannot send or receive faxes.  I ran the fax test and according to that, I have to have an active wall jack.  I have wireless connectivity for computer and TV.  Is there a way to make the fax work?  Will appreciate any help.  Thanks.

    Hi,
    This is vignesh B.
Welcome to HP Consumer Support Forum. I am happy to assist you!
Please use this link to get more troubleshooting steps :
I see here that you are not able to send / receive fax.
We need to have the active phone jack connected to the printer from the wall outlet.
Only then, printer will start sending / receiving faxes.
Please make sure you connect the two conductor faxing cable that comes along with the printer.
If you have the printer software installed on the computer.
Please open that printer software where you will get an option to run the fax setup wizard.
please try to send fax once you are done with the fax setup wizard.
Please contact 1-800-474-6836 for any assistance. We work 24*7.
Thank you for choosing HP. Have a wonderful day ahead.

  • OSX Yosemite cannot send fax from computer

    OS X Yosemite.  Photosmart 7250
fax from printer - returns  "Communication Failure", no code, message in Fax Queue.
I am not prompted to enter a phone#.  Fax goes to fax queue and hangs.
Manual Fax from device works fine, phoneline communication is good.
HP Utility can communicate with FAX device.
HP Utility can test Fax device, successful.
Can test FAX device from web page, successful.
checked firmware - up to date
downloaded and installed latest HP software, drivers released  10/22/2014
wiped HP printers and did a clean install.
    Did a hard power reset.
In other words, have done everything HP says at least once or twice.
    Oh, this worked BEFORE Yosemite.
HP software is listed as for Yosemite OSX 10.10 on website.

    It was ADOBE Acrobat.
Adobe puts their own print dialog between user and OS.
I bypassed this and used the system dialog.  It prompted for phone number and I sent and received a fax using HP's fax test number, 1-888-473-2963
    NOTE  to HP   :
Your online help desk could have saved me 2 hours of frustration if they asked these questions:
Is your application using its own print dialog?
Have you tried faxing from the OS print/fax dialog?
This question should be asked BEFORE all other diagnostic tests!
Now I gotta go talk to Adobe!

  • Have Mac Mini osx 10.4.5 and need to fax on my DSL..

H\I have Mac Mini osx 10.4.5 and need to fax on my DSL..
Have DSL. Currently have inoperative Os9.2 imac plugged in to fax in the past, and my Mac Mini into dsl. What do I need to fax from the Mac Mini?
Visually impaired, I need instructions for someone else to set it up all over again, both lines out of mac Mini. Other discussions do not seem to be what I am looking for. I used something like faxstd I think. Not available for osX. What do I need? Thanks. Jack

Thanks. Now I think that I understand that my mac mini did not come equipped with a modem at all as I thought it would. So, I need to purchase something else now. I've already added several, at considerable cost. Little did I think that all these would be needed. Speakers, an iMic for recording sound. Now I wonder if I need another voice program to read text for me (not totally blind, so I don't enjoy constant comment about page names, http:// etc. I do love "Constant Comment Green Tea," however. And, in my old age, I enjoyed knowing about PhotoDeluxe, and can't use it on my Mac Mini. All these things to do differently is driving me nuts. The dsl modem was provided by my dsl line service. It seems strange that any commercially produced computer would be this incomplete. My old iMac had an internal modem. And, this new Apple does not? Strange. • HP 6310 AIO Printer locks up and needs to be power-cycled when faxing from my PC.

I have an HP 6310 AIO Printer; Whenever I try to fax a document from my PC, the printer locks up (All lights flashing) and needs to be power-cycled. I can fax from the printer glass directly but unable to from my PC. Also the software communicates properly whenever I am scanning from the glass or feed tray. What would make it locks up and all light flashing? it seems as if whenever I generate the fax or scan from the PC end it locks up the printer.

Completely reload the full feature software and drivers for the printer.

  • Faxing from Mountain Lion with a multi-function printer

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion. Of course, my Apple external modem hasn't worked since the initial upgrade.
I hadn't done too much about this, but it really is awfully convenient to fax from my computer, vs. printing something out and putting it in the fax machine. (I have a stand-alone one.)
I DO have a Canon multi-function printer (the MX870). When I set it up (which was a nigthmare) I didn't setup the fax portion because I HAVE a fax.
But now ... well, I'm tired of not being able to fax from my computer. So I know I SHOULD be able to, but I haven't been able to get it to work. I connected the phone line (it's on a splitter with the other portion going to our comcast cable modem.) But it's not visible via the "add print or scanner" preference. The manual is less than clear.
Do I need to add some Canon software? I'm not at home now, but I'm thinking I'll try that next.
Any help wold be much appreciated. I know I could buy a new external modem, but as I'm about to purchase a new Retina MacBook pro, I'd just as soon not!
(P.S. Perhaps this goes in networking.)

Yes absolutely.  I set it up last Fall and have been using it until last week, at whick time I lost wireless connectivity with router for no reason at all.  I can not remember how to do it now and I am looking for the answer myself.
This link to an online chat on www.hp.com with a tech might help you.

I unfortunately upgraded my browser to IE8 last week and the chat support online does not support that browser.  If you get an answer, I would appreciate it if you would post the answer on this thread so that I can re-learn it myself.  Thanks.  Good Luck.

  • I want to fax from my mac using a Brother MFC-7220 Printer/fax

I'm currently using a Brother MFC-7220 Printer/Fax machine with my Mac Mini, attached via USB.
It works great as a printer, but I want to fax from within Mac Applications using the 7220.
I tried going "File/Print, then selecting the PDF pull down menu in the lower left corner of the print management window. I selected "Fax PDF..." but the system comes back with a "No Fax Modems Found.." message.
    Any suggestions/solutions ?
    Thanks

You may need to install the Brother drivers.
By default, Mac OS X only installs the printer drivers, ignoring other features of multi-function devices. By installing the vendor's driver you gain access to the other features.
In this case you should find that installing the driver enables a new printer option - Brother MFC-7220 (Fax) - which can be used to send your fax. So now faxing is as simple as choosing 'Print' and selecting the 'Fax' option from the list of available printers.

  • Can I FAX from a Wireless hp6700 printer

Can I FAX  from a Wireless  hp6700 printer?   Do I need to connect it to a phone line or does it have fax software that will allow me to fax to a fax number via my home wireless network->Internet->Fax number.
    Sudhir

    Hi,
You need a phone cord as mentioned in its manual:
    Test fax setup
You can test your fax setup to check the status of the printer and to make sure it is set up correctly for faxing. Perform this test after you have completed setting up the printer for faxing. The test does the following:
    • Tests the fax hardware
    • Verifies the correct type of phone cord is connected to the printer
    • Checks that the phone cord is plugged into the correct port
    • Checks for a dial tone
    • Checks for an active phone line
    • Tests the status of your phone line connection
The printer prints a report with the results of the test. If the test fails, review the report for information on how to fix the problem and rerun the test.
    Regards.

I have an HP2840 running with Windows 7.  Everytime I fax from the computer the print spooler STOPS.
I have to start, then stop, then start again everytime before any of my printers are available.
Is there a setting I need to change?

it sounds to me that the print spooler is crashing. Typically if the spooler crashes, when restarted it will try and process the job in the queue.  If it crashes again, the job will be purged from the queue.

  • SAP faxing from all-in-one (printer/copier/scanner/fax) device

    Hi,
We have a all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax (Ricoh Aficio 3025) and would like to make use of it to send fax from SAP.
I know how to set it up as a printer.  But how should I go about setting it up to send fax?
    Can someone help?
    Thanks in advance.
Edited by: Sisab Nimda on Jan 8, 2009 2:38 PM

You can't just set it up as a fax... you need a fax server in order to send faxes  (I.E. Rightfax)... basically the way it works is that you create a node in SCOT for faxes and send the data to the fax server via SMTP and the fax server deliver the fax to your hardware.
    Check the SMTP guide,
