Need to find a Premier compatible super small HD camera

I have a 4 year old Panasonic DVX100 (not HD) but it's difficult to travel with because of the size. I'm headed to Venezuela next week and need to quickly find a very small camcorder that can be easily hidden from site. (Risk of mugging is high.) I'll be at the Pan Am championships and also want to be able to zoom in from the stands and still get some decent footage.
I know these are consumer cameras, but I've been thinking of:
- Sony HDRSR12 (AVCHD output & 10.2 megapixel still)
- JVC GZ-HD6U (MPEG-2 TS output)
- or possibly the Pansonic HDCHS9S (AVCHD output).
Question: will I have problems importing footage from these cameras into Premier? I have the CS3 Production Suite. Is there another camera I should be looking at?
Any input or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

The Canon HV20 looks interesting. I've been reading some reviews of the HV20 and HV30, but it sounds like their motion capture is not ideal and I'll be using the camera to capture sports action. How do you find it for fast motion recording, where the camera is on a tripod so the only camera motion is a zoom in and out?
To be honest, I was looking forward to a HDD camera as I find pulling clips off the mini dv tapes to be a hassle, esp. when I know I'll be filming for 3 days straight. I really like the idea of a quick dump through USB or firewire.
Are there good flash card HDV cameras?
What cameras are people using for HD at the prosumer level? I looked briefly at the Sony HVR-A1U, but not much more than that. It's a price jump, but I'd like to buy something I'll be happy with for at least a few years.

Also, would like them to have reasonable PPR program, free efile, free unlimited states, capable of 1040, 1065, 1120, & (S), 1041, 990. Built in tax knowledge base. I'd be eternally indebted to you if you found sometghing as intuitive and value oriented as Drake but for OS 10. BEGINNING TO THINK APPLE bends over backwords for artistic tools but not so much business tools. Too bad, I've had a few tax returns that have bordered on art.
I will likely need to add Parallels & Windows 7 OS, preferably 64-bit to this Macbook Air. If so, I do not think I have sufficient memory or storage so would like to download & install onto NFTS (sp?) formatted 1TB HD. I do not know if hard drives, USB hubs, Optical drives etc. that work w/ Windows (as long as you choose correctly btwn SATA & IDE) will work on MacBook Air. Help greatly appreciated. I wonder if the financial dept. @ apple uses keyboards w/ no numeric keypad, saw one that started at $99. Bill I've also run into a very similar problem, I own many Macs but I've had a PC for Tax Stuff. My PC broke and I refused to buy another one so I began to search for an alternative. Window's Emulators have given me so much trouble with my Tax Software.
However, I've since found out that Intuit has a cloud based tax solution that works with a MAC because it's all done online. Which means you'll need a reliable internet connection whenever you want to prepare a client's return.
It's suppose to support all of the major returns (1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S and 990)
I've yet to use this solution, but it's the best thing that I've been able to find so far. This is what I'll be using this upcoming Tax Season.

I hired someone to shoot something for me recently and he used AVCHD. However, he only copied the mts files and did not save the entire folder structure, which unfortunately is what Final Cut requires (at least that's my understanding of it). Basically I need to find a way to convert mts files into a Final Cut compatible file format.
Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

Forum search is your friend. The usual answer you'll find is ClipWrap, transcodes .mts to whatever flavor of ProRes you want.

My imported footage is coming up super small . HELP!!!

I recently purchased a new Vista 64 Hp and Adobe CS4 for the school I teach at. I teach a video production class to junior high school kids. We were using Premiere Pro 1.5 before. When I capture video or import clips on CS4, the size of the video is super small in the monitor and I find that every clip has a red line over it in the timeline indicating that I need to render something. Do I have to convert the size of each clip. In 1.5, I just imported it and it fit perfectly. What do I do?? Thanks.

Create a new sequence using the correct DV preset then capture some footage from your DV camcorder. When you put it on the timeline you will see it fill the monitor and will have a green line above it.

I had approximately 15 projects that I can no longer see in imovie. I have read almost every thread on this community for imovie regarding error messages associated with looking for clips. In each case I have rebuilt the project. However, today I continually received a message to search for a .dv file. I have located the file and even changed the .dv file to .mov file and yet none of my projects will appear. I have rebooted, deleted the plist and nothing works.
I was planning on buying a new Mac in 2014 with new editing, and use my old Mac as a backup for imovie files. Very frustrated that I can’t work with any projects now! I se the files in my Movies/imovies/iprojects folder but they don’t appear in the viewer.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get back my projects into the viewer? Or, can someone recommend a basic program compatible with imovie 08 that I can use to import my exiting projects into?

No, Wasn't sure if I could continue to upgrade to 9.0.9 since my Mac is relatively old.
Just don't understand why I have to keep starting a project over and over again. As I type this, the imovie icon is jumping and asking for "clip 135-02-05-05;27:15" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly." I have located this clip and pointed imovie to the clip, and nothing happens. I even try to locate the corresponding clip in the event viewer but it is not there.

How do you find the frequency of a small sample size and a square wave.

I am collecting data from ten 12v pulses that are seperated pretty uniformly. The pulses make a square wave. I need to know how to input this small sample size and find it frequency. I need this frequency to be output in a readable file. Im not very knowledgeable in labview so if you try and help me please be very descriptive.
I know i need some sort of trigger because of uknown wait times before the sensor will be triggored but other than that im pretty lost. Any help would be appreciated.

What have you tried so far? What parts are giving you trouble? Please be as specific as possible. Post the code you have written.
You ask about frequency measurement and then you are talking about triggering.
If you always have 10 pulses, just measure the time from the beginning of the first pulse to the beginning of the last pulse. The frequency is 10/time.
Break down the problem to smaller parts. Acquire the data. Measure the frequency. Save the result to a file. Get each part working separately, then put them together.

I'm learning to use iCal v.5.0.3 on a Mac Pro (2,1) 2x3 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, running Lion OSX10.7.5.
I need to find or write a script which, when I create a new iCal timed event, will automatically send me an email and give a screen alert 24 hours before - plus on the morning of the appointment, plus 2 hours beforehand. I'm wondering if such a script exists already or can be adapted. I've searched various forums and am unable to find specific simple instructions on how to create such a thing in Applescript or Automator or whatever. So I've really tried to find out on my own.
Can anyone direct me to a set of instructions? This can't be so hard, can it? To clarify, when I create an "event" with a time (an appointment), I want to hit a button which tells iCal to send me these reminders without my having to set multiple reminders in iCal for each of my new "events".
I'd be most grateful for any advice at all.

Doing a shell script to burn a DVD from a folder (for example) is pretty challenging. The reason is that you need to execute the entire script in one shot, because making a burned disk is a 3 part affair with each part of the operation taking time. The problem with executing separate commands is that Applescript can't wait around until a shell command is finished, while a shell script will not proceed to the next command until the previous command is completed.
Burning disk takes these 3 parts:
1) Create an empty diskimage of your desired size
2) Mount the empty and copy your stuff to it
3) Burn and eject
There may be a shortcut by burning an existing folder but you don't say exactly what you're doing. See the hdutil command for more information:

Go into your Settings : General : and turn off background refresh for your apps. In Settings : Mail turn Fetch new data to OFF and Load Remote Images to OFF. This will mean that Mail will only check for messages when you actually use it, and all your advertising junk mail won't have all the images in it.
Turn off push notifications every chance you get.
Make sure you are actually quitting apps: to quit apps press the Home button twice and you should see a bunch of smaller screen images for every open app. To quit the app swipe from the screen image (not the icon) upward off the top of the iPad. You can swipe left and right to see more open apps, but there must be no left-right movement on the screen when you swipe upward to close the app.
Turn off your internet connection when you do not need it. The easiest way to do this is to swipe up from the bottom of you screen to get the control centre, and then touch the airplane to turn on airplane mode. You can repeat this sequence to turn it back on again when you need it. Most especially turn airplane mode on whenever you are sleeping your iPad for long periods. This will save battery life too. OR actually turn your iPad off - which means holding the power key down for several seconds until the red swipe bar appears, and then swipe to turn it off. If you go this route, note that it will take longer to turn on then it takes to wake from sleep.

Unfortunatly the 7.x series of camera raw plugin is not compatible with photoshop cs5.
You could download the 7.4 DNG Converter and convert your d600 files to dng copies which then photoshop cs5 will open.
