Firefox is freezing. When I close Firefox, and try to re-start it, it will not open. I need to access Task Manager, where I find Firefox still running. I close Firefox in Task Manager & can re-start Firefox.

Sounds like it is hanging when you exit and later try to restart Firefox.

I just need a link to version 5.0 so I can install it. The website throws and error when using 6.0.#. BofA Tech Support said I needed to downgrade and that was the ONLY solution. The Windows bar already functions as a tab bar. Those tabs are called "windows." So, I find Firefox tab windows superfluous. How can I disable them completely from Firefox 23? I don't need what is essentially TWO windows bars covering up the entire width of my widescreen monitor's image! I already have a Windows bar at the bottom of my screen and, if I really wanted to, I could change ITS position to the top of the screen, so that it would LOOK like the Firefox tab windows bar. Firefox TABS are, essentially, a superfluous SECOND WINDOWS BAR.

Let me clarify even more. The Firefox add-on you mention does not remove "tabs" windows. It only HIDES the "tabs" bar when there is only one "tab" in that window. It DOES NOT end "tabs." It does not turn "tabs" off.
I know this, because, even with the add-on you recommend, the "tabs" bar often re-appears when I open a link, which--for some unknown reason--Firefox defaults to opening in a second "tab" within the same window, rather than putting it in a new Windows bar window. This, of course, disregards what I want to happen.
I want to use my Windows bar to control my windows. I do not want my Firefox browser controlling my windows--which it calls "tabs." Can you tell me how to shut off "tabs?"

If it's saying that you need to close firefox before you can continue, do this:
# Hit Ctrl-Alt-Del
# Click Task Manager
# After this, you'll want to left click on the process which says "firefox.exe".
# You'll also want to close ANYTHING that says "plugin-container.exe", as this is what holds firefox's plug in's and is part of it.
If what you've said above is true and it's complaining that you need to close firefox first, then this is all you have to do.
Alternatively, if you can't find task manager, simply restart your computer; Firefox doesn't boot on start.
You can also make sure that ALL windows are closed from Firefox, including the download window. Any of the above should fix your problem.
I also noticed you stated you're using firefox 5.0. The most recent version is 6.0. You can go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/ to download the newest version.

Safari JavaScript bug I need to find/fix

I am a webmaster of a popular site and I really want to support the Safari users but currently do not own a Mac so I was hoping someone here can help me track down a bug in my JavaScript that only effects Safari users.
I checked my code with both old and new versions of Internet Explore and Firefox running under Windows XP and it works correctly. I have visitors telling me it is not correct under Safari, though again I cannot even verify this.

Here is the correct result you should get:

A Safari visitor of mine says he is getting 2.147 instead of the above. He says he is using version 1.2.4 of Safari
Again I have no access to a Mac so I do not know if the bug does exist, if it is only for certain units or all units, so if someone can check and let me know it would be a big help. If you could also track down the bug I would forever be your friend.

Just for confirmation, you can see on the pages you linked to that the OS version there is limited to the 10.3 range.
FWIW this page is the location for the 1.3.1 update and you'll note that this is restricted to specifically OS 10.3.9 and is perhaps the latest version released for that operating system.

Your page works fine for my 2.0.2 version as well so I'm certain this is a problem with outdated software and you should encourage the user to upgrade their Safari and see if that resolves the problem.
Why is the default download the old version and a bit of extra digging is needed to find the latest version?
I really don't know, but what I suspect is going on here is something along the lines of this:
There is no point in downloading the latest Safari if one doesn't have 10.4 and to have 10.4 you must buy it and therefore will own a copy of Safari v.2 (actually called 'Safari RSS' to further muddy the waters). At this point the 'minor' upgrade(s) are then easily available from 'Software Update' or with a bit of digging on their downloads page.
I'm assuming then that the older version is of less significance to them (piracy?) and is thus more widely available, or perhaps they have a policy to make older more established systems available as the default.
Of course, unlikely, but on the other hand this could all just be an admin mistake that hasn't been spotted yet...
EDIT: A thought just occurred to me: in both of these 'latest' updates they are both for very specific versions of their respective operating systems and as such Apple may prefer to direct users to the latest stable upgrades that are for the widest range of the relevant OS to avoid user problems. There's only two pathways for this - the page you referenced for 10.3, and by buying 10.4...

You must close Firefox to install the update after it is saved to your hard drive. Follow the instructions below.
There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash. Both must be installed and updated on Windows systems. In Firefox it would show as Shockwave Flash in your plug-ins, if you had it installed.

Just in case you aren't sure, those folders are versions in different languages. If you use US English, just download the file in the folder "en-US/".
After downloading the file, you might also want to verify its sha1 signature against the corresponding entry in [https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/29.0/SHA1SUMS this ]list.

Which one as there was Firefox 3.0.* and 3.5.* which are EOL for a while now and Firefox 3.6.* is still supported with security updates as 3.6.18 came out with 5.0 on June 21.

Help needed with deploying Firefox 3.6.11 to upgrade existing installations including add-ons and plug-ins

Hello, I need to deploy Firefox 3.6.11 to existing installations to upgrade them from the old version. That part is fine, the problem I have is will the silent installation update any non-compatible add-ons or extensions? I will be using SCCM for the deployement part..
I ran the installation manually on a typical machine of which it gave the option of upgrading the existing client. Thats fine but the installation then prompted that 2 currently installed add-ons were not compatible with the new version. It lets you select and then "check" for later versions of those add-ins, actually checks for updates and lets you select and install those too!!
Now, how do you deploy silently with those options I`ve mentioned above??? Cant find any command line parameter that allow for that!
