Need to find program, desperately need help.

A few months ago, I had a problem. My PC wouldn't recognize my external hard drive. On a forum, I found a link to a program written by an individual which would recognize drives that the system wouldn't recognize. This program could be used for recovering files, but was especially used to recover picture files.
Let me explain a bit. In two weeks, I lost three computers. First, I reloaded XP on my Thinkpad. When I tried to reload my data from my external hard drive, the hard drive wasn't recognized by my Thinkpad. Somewhere in a forum post, I found a link to this wonderful program which allowed me to restore my data.
Next, my mother-in-law's PC died (first PC lost). Crashed hard drive, no backup. With this same program, I was able to recover her data. Next, my desktop hard drive failed (second PC lost). No real problem. It was a 2005 PC, and I had everything backed up to my external hard drive, and thus to my Thinkpad.
Then my Thinkpad died (third PC lost). Bad motherboard. But all my data was on that PC!! I have resurrected a desktop from the carcass of my mother-in-law's PC by installing an older hard drive, but my data is still trapped on the external hard drive. And I don't know where the program was I used to restore it last time.
Does this program sound familiar to anyone? It was simple to run and worked very well. I believe I had info about it - on my Thinkpad. Any help would be appreciated. I believe it had a very simple name such as "test disk" or something similar. Help!! Thanks!

An iOS device cannot be tracked without an internet connection. All you can do is physically look for it. Your camera roll photos are included in your iCloud backup. Should you be unable to find the phone, restoring the backup to another iPhone (or iPod touch) should recover them. Bear in mind that Apple will delete iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so be sure to access the backup before then.
You can also access photo stream photos from the last 30 days by setting up iCloud on your computer and enabling my photo stream (see https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/).

Word 2008 is pretty much the same as Word 2004, except it's more confusing with the additionnal Ribbon bar, that brings no value-added really, so I would never recommend to invest a single dollar in it. Word 2011 on the other hand, finally has a true Ribbon interface, makes it easier to design documents, is much faster and optimized, is still supported by Microsoft, and last but not least the whole suite re-enables VBA code that had disappeared completely in 2008. You can even work with true Outlook 2011 if you want.

Outlook 2007 backup help desperately needed

I am moving in less than a week and I desperately need to back up my Outlook to an external drive because my desktop computer
is going on the moving van. I added the Outlook backup add-in today, but it is not working. I have it set (under options) to save to K:\Outlook\outlook backup.pst When I exit Outlook, I get this message: The J:\Outlook\folder does not exist. The file might
have been moved or deleted. Do you want to create it?
How can I get it to stop looking for a J drive? I don't have anything in my J drive, so even if I choose yes to create it, it is unable
to create the Outlook folder and the system cannot find the path specified.
Steps I have tried so far, which have failed:
1. Reboot the computer
2. Disable and re-enable add-ins
3. Delete and re-install the add-in
4. Try saving to a different external drive

Change the backup location of a personal folder to any other drive apart from J:\drive as it doesn’t exist in your computer.
To change the backup location of a personal folder file:-
1. On the File menu, click Backup.
2. Click Options.
3. In the Backup these personal folders files list, click the file you want to change the backup location for, and then change the location in
the Backup the file selected above to this location box.
4. Click OK.
5. Click Save Backup.

Well basically like it says in the question, when the installer runs through to what I assume is near 90% completion, an error message pops up saying that the installer is unable to find/run a program it needs, and as helpful as it is, the installer neglects to tell me what program I need to download/install for the iTunes installer to complete, as it is, I am at a total loss for how to resolve the issue, I couldn't find anything about this on FAQ's, but if it's there, please let me know; however, I'm welcoming all advice, thank you.

Try this fix discovered by User photosb189:
From Finder, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the Go menu at the top of the screen
Select Library from the drop down menu
Then navigate to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement > assets
Right click on the 'sub' folder and choose Compress
Drag the resulting zip file to your Desktop (as a backup)
Go to your System Preferences and choose iCloud
Turn OFF the iCloud Photos option
Go back to Library > Application Support and DELETE the iLifeAssetManagement folder
Now, in System Preferences, turn the iCloud Photos option ON
iPhoto should now be able to launch. Give it enough time to re-download your Photo Stream content. if you are missing any of your My Photo Stream photos (more than 30 days old), unzip the sub folder on your desktop and drag that into iPhoto.

Desperately Need Help: Why won't remote desktop work w/VPN to a PC?

I am seriously losing my mind and the IT people at my job are clueless. I am not that sophisticated but, when it comes to macs, I might as well be a genius in comparison to them. At work I have a PC running Windows Vista. I have installed on my Mac (running Mavericks) VPN through Netextender. I can connect to VPN with no problems. However, when I try to login thru remote desktop, it tells me my work computer cannot be reached. My work computer is most certainly on and reachable. I desperately need to figure this out!! Please help!

Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with USB in your Lenovo B50-30 laptop.
Try to connect other USB devices like pen drive, external HDD and check if that is been recognized,
Try to boot the system into safe mode and check for the issue.

I desperately need help with Mail, specifically sending

For Starters: I am on OSX 10.9.2 and am trying to use mail 7.2.

I cannot send. I have been at this for hours and hours and hours. Here are the details.
my mail server however is s1.sistercompany.net
I can receive email just fine. I can also send mail just find having set this up on my iphone and also in thunderbird (which i hate hate hate hate hate hate hate, which is why I am desperate to set up mail)
The settings in thunderbird are as follows:
Servername: s1.sistercompany.net
port: 465
Authentication method: normal password
Connection Security: SSL/TLS
However, I just can't get this to work in Mail. When I write an email and hit send I get a popup that says:
Cannot send message using the server s1.sistercompany.net
The certifcate for this server is invalid.
Now, my tech guy says yeah the certifacte is invalid because you are going through sistercompany server, there should be some way to just accept the certifcate anyway (but he has never used mail before).
So I have serached around and come up with this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11706
Which tells me to use the verify certificate dialogue, which I would do except there is no verify certificate dialog. Any thoughts?

I don't have a problem watching the Lost episode on abc.com, using a stock MacBook with 512MB RAM. I don't know what technology abc.com uses in their viewer, but I have Flip4Mac and the latest version of Flash player installed.

Re-posting as I'm desperate.
My phone shut down while making a call. The screen went black, no LED signal light, no power, totally dead.
Actions already attempted:
1) removed/replaced battery multiple times,
2) inserted fully charged spare battery,
3) connected to charger cord,
4) connected to computer via USB and
5) connected to computer via USB with battery removed.
The phone has not been subjected to water or cooked by heat. It was operating perfectly fine for six months prior to this event. One caveat: the phone was running on software one version (5.5?) behind the current latest version (6.0?), as the newer software slowed my phone to a crawl plus I really didn't like the new calendar software.
Verizon is replacing the phone under the warranty program but I I desperately need to retrieve critical medical and tax data from this dead device as I regrettably have not backed up in the six months since I purchased the phone.
Any help/replies are urgently needed as I am required to return the dead device within five days of receiving the replacement unit (expected today 8/26/11).  Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

You don't have BlackBerry Protect installed on the device, by any chance? If so, you'd have an over the air backup of contacts, calendar, SMS, etc.
I'd suggest one last time, leave it charge a couple of hours on a wall outlet charger. After a few hours, keep it connected to the charger, remove the battery for a few minutes, replace and see if it boots.
If not, then I think you're stuck.
We might be able to get the device to reload the OS and power up again, but you will lose all your data.

Band matrix - help desperately needed

Hello,
I hope someone can help me with the following problem.
I have to store a band matrix in a linear array.
The band matrix is m*m, e.g.
5 7 0 0 0 0
5 8 4 0 0 0
0 1 3 9 0 0
0 0 4 5 4 0
0 0 0 3 6 1
0 0 0 0 7 3
My first try was to store all non-zero values, which didn't work because the band matrix could contain 0 values.
My next try is to first store the first row (5, 7) in the linear array, then use a for loop for the rows containing 3 values and again store the last row seperately.
I would appreciate any better suggestions as i am not happy with my solution.

hey guys i need your help! my ipad 3 has gone blank. i have been able to restart it by pressing down on both keys but now it wont work. the screen illuminates and i still get notifications but its just a black screen. i tried to restore it on itunes but it tells me to turn off find my phone app. well i cant do thay because i cant access my ipad. i am so frustrated! my ipad is only 1.5 years old so its still fairly new. can anyone tell me how to delete the app on my laptop? i have tried but no success yet. when i go into my icloud account i cant find anywhere that says to turn off or delete find my phone. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Go to http://www.icloud.com in your computer's internet browser. Sign in, go to Find My iPhone, locate your device there.
