Need to flatten or rasterize gigantic pdf

Hi
I'm having some problems here.
I'm working in an indesign document that eventually will end up in a file with a size of about 24000x22500mm at 100 dpi.
Since indesign doesnt allow that big files, I'm working in 1:10 at 1000dpi.
I have managed to export a pdf in the appropriate size, but the problem is that I need to somehow rasterize it so that it becomes one continous image instead of consisting of a bunch of different ones as it is inside the pdf file.
This is so that the printer that are going to print this thing on a vinyl floor doesnt crash trying to understand the file.
Now, exporting the whole thing as a jpg doesnt work, cause windows or adobe wont allow jpg's of that size.
I've tried spliting it in 6 or 8 equal peices with the goal of putting them back together, but that only makes indesign crash at 1000dpi. Finally I tried lowering it to 800dpi which stoped the crashing, but replaced it with a message that I dont have enough memory (I'm sporting 12GB at 2Ghz).
So at the end, two questions:
Can anything else be done in indesign?
And is there some other program that can automaticly rasterize or at least flatten my pdf without having to open it? Can destiller be useful in this context? for some reason I dont have it..
regards
AE

Hey guys. Woah, this really took some figuring out, but looks like I'm finally having a breakthrough thanks to all of you. Final answer was a compound one.
Rob: placing the pdf's apparently doesnt have the same size limit as through conversion, so thanks for that tip. I'm still some times working as if on CS3.
I still had some problems though. The Document turned out almost 90k pixels square, and apparently I didnt have enough memory to convert my pdf's at that size.
Peter: thanks for the tip about multi page spreads. Had no idea you could add more than two pages to a spread.
Still at 1000 dpi and divided in 10 peices though, I just didnt have enough memory to place them in photoshop. I decided to boost my system from 12 to 24GB just to see if that helped, but amazingly it didnt. Not sure it made any difference in the end, but it was something I was concidering anyway, and it cant be wrong
Finally I started downsampeling from indesign to see how far I had to go before I was able to place it in photoshop, and at 800dpi, still divided in 10 peices, it finally worked. 80dpi SHOULD still be adequate for this print.
So now I'm working on placing them and reconnecting them in photoshop. Seems to be working smoothly so far.
Gernet: As you say, naturally no printer can print in that format. I think the maximum width is 1.98m. Length is in theory almost unlimited, but will be limited to 4-5 meters to preserve accuracy. The print will be 18x18meters plus a small entrance area, but the file is a bit larger due to the entrance area and since I dont have an exact position of the edges availible at the moment.
I also talked to the printers, and they preferred it if I could deliver the file as one continuous image. Its easier if they make the plan for where the seams would be, and it would be too much back and forth if I had to get that plan from them and then try to make sections that fit with their plan.
This is a pretty big and expensive order that is also starting to run short on time, so thank god it was even possible to solve in adobe and on my private system (work at an architecture office, so the office systems are not set up to handle this).

  • Need to flatten form fields in pdf

After a reader extensions enabled form has been submitted, we need to preserve a read-only version of the pdf. Where in the tangled mess of products and api's would I find a server-side version of the PDF Optimizer's flatten form fields feature?

    Thank you Paul!
Could you please be so kind to help me build the right XFDF file?
I have tried already something like this:

It doesn't work either.  In both cases the PDF opens but the data will be not populated. :-(

    Dear everyone
I need to configure Acrobat to display PDF files in Safari, but I have a lot of troubles to do it.
I read a european commission document explaining that
    http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/support/sep_usermanual.pdf
If Safari does not display pdf forms in the browser window, uninstall all older versions of Adobe Reader and download the most recent one. First close Safari and then install Reader. Launch Safari and you ought to be able to open the pdf files inside the Safari window. If you install Adobe Reader 10.1.x without first closing Safari, Safari will not display the pdf file inside its browser window until it is re-launched. For further help, please see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/troubleshoot-safari-plug-acrobat-x.html
I have OX S yosemite, I unistalled adobe acrobat, I closed safary and I installed the new version of adobe acrobat
but when I open a web page that I need to allow me to display and modify PDF files it is not working.
I checked the following web page
    Troubleshoot Safari plug-in | Acrobat X, Reader X
    that is recommending the following:
The AdobePDFViewer plug-in is used to display PDF files in Safari using Acrobat and Reader.
This plug-in is installed as part of the Acrobat X or Reader X installation. The location of this plug-in is:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
but after the new installation with this folder is completely empty and I am still
    unable to open these pdf.
Does anybody knows anything else I can do?
    Best regards

You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

  • I need to divide a large 111MB PDF

I need to divide a large 111MB PDF into several smaller more manageable pieces. I have CS5 but it won't open it. I just bought PDF Extractor so I could convert it to a Microsoft Word File and edit from there. Message says, file too big, over 100MB. How can I do this?

You need Acrobat if you want to split the file.

  • I have a 2 x spot colour file in Illustrator CC and need to save it as a PDF for printing in spot colour....

I have a 2 x spot colour file in Illustrator CC and need to save it as a PDF for printing in spot colour, which option do I choose in the 'save as' menu?
and how do I check it?
The overprint panel is open and I can turn off the cmyk ( there are no separations for the cmyk anyway)
Have looked at the tutorials which tell me to print as PDF7 but that utility is disabled and has been for ages.
it is a simple need but can find no simple information so think I must be missing something!
    Thanks in advance!

No magic required. You simply save it as PDF-X from AI. If the spot colors are based on correct swatches and tagged accordingly, they will appear as separate inks/ plates in the PDF, which you can verify in the ink manager in Acrobat. That's pretty much all there is to it and the print facility should handle this file correctly.

  • What version of Acrobat is needed to split pages of a PDF into separate documents? Standard or Pro?

Need to be able to split PDFs into separate files dependent of what page. Can standard do this? Or will i need Pro?

    Hi asfkmg,
Both Acrobat Standard and Pro will allow you to split a PDF into separate documents. Here's a great video that shows you how: https://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/how-to-break-a-pdf-into-parts

  • Abobe X Pro needs "additional files to create a pdf..."

    Error message:
Additional files will need to be installed to create PDF from this file.  You must have Administrator privileges to install these files. Please contact your local system administrator.
    1) just an 'ole lady here - on a pc - not a system administrator (though I think have admin rights in windows 7).
    The details:
    a) had a lenovo small format pc running XP - Acrobat X Pro worked fine on this pc, could create pdfs and fillable forms etc.
    b) Just bought a used pc with Windows 7 Enterprise - after a week of issues - duh - I realized X Pro was not working on the new(used) pc, except to let me open a pdf, and even add a text box, or sign or line out a change in a pdf. - that is all it will let me do..
    c) I had a purchased CD of Adobe Pro Standard.  In 2012, I was able to upgrade it to Adobe X Pro 10,  while still on XP, with a digital download, for which I have the registration key.
The X Pro version showing this morning was 10.1.12 (before I uninstalled it, and I assume after various updates).
I've also tried repairing the installation - and selecting the function I need PDFMaker (to work with MS Word) -
I have uninstalled Adobe, and re-installed it, from my old downloaded file the version is 10.0.0
Finally read that I should have deactivated it on the old pc.
Called Support, and they gave me an all new, full version (download) of Adobe X Pro at 5 pm est, and a NEW S/N.
I uninstalled, the old version, ran ccleaner, restarted the pc, installed the new X Pro 10.0.0, used the new s/n and still cannot use Adobe.
Still  can't, create a pdf, combine files from word or create a form from a word doc - nada.  Also, do not seem to have Adobe Reader anywhere on this pc, either (a good thing from what I've read).
When I was on XP I did not have this problem.  Now that I am on Windows 7 Enterprise, I have the problem.
(I am using MS Office 2003 and do plan to update to 2010.  Using Google Apps for Work, small business working from home, did not like Office 365 since I am on a MiFi hotspot for internet (country living))
Maybe all of this was more information than you'd want or need... just was not sure what is is causing the conflict/problem.
Feeling out of my depth with this and really need some guidance / help / specific steps to take - Thanks in advance for your help!

Actually, it's a breath of fresh air getting all of the info needed to help.
But now the bad news. You're in the forum for Adobe Reader, but you want to post in the Acrobat forum from the sounds of it (many more pro's there for your product).

    Hi,
It sounds like you have a special type of form called a "dynamic XFA form".
Currently, Adobe Reader mobile products (Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support dynamic XFA forms that are authored with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
The message is displayed when a dynamic content is not supported by a PDF viewer.  As far as I know, no PDF viewers on iOS support dynamic XFA forms.
Please use the desktop version of Adobe Reader on a Windows or Mac computer to view and fill out XFA forms.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • I need to convert hundreds of TRANSPARENT PDFs into PNG or TIFF

I need to convert hundreds of TRANSPARENT PDFs into PNG or TIFF.
That's not possible with Acrobat. It’s possible to convert hundreds of PDFs into PNG or TIFF using batch processing. But transparency is LOST!
Photoshop is the only software I know of which is able to keep transparency when converting from PDF to PNG.
But now I have problems to get batch processing running.
I made an Action with “Open file”, “Save as PSD” and “Export to PNG”.
Using this Action in batch-process-files with source as a folder with many PDFs and target as a different folder results in many opened PDFs within Photoshop. Nothing else happens:-(.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
