Need to get Mediasource on my new compu
We just barely got a new computer, and I was going to load the CreativeMediasource from the installation CD that came wit my Zen Micro, but i couldn't findthe CD anywhere. I went to the Creative Download site, and tried to downloadandinstall "Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2" and "CreativeZen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9". I started with the Player/organizer for theZen Micro, and downloaded it. When the installer started, a small window appeared thatsaid:"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system". Iclicked the Retry button on the window, but the same message came up. I then tried to download the Jukebox Plugin, but once the istallationwizard started after the download was completed, a window appeared that said:"Creative Mediasource Nomad Jukebox 2/3/zen plugin requires CreativeMediasource (v3.20.57) and above to run properly. If you do not have any of theseinstalled, please install them before running this setup program."Is There anything I need to do to be able to have Creative Mediasourceon my new computer? or do I need to buy a new CD or find my old one for anythingto work?thanks!!!
sweet_lou wrotekay so i plugged my zm and tunred it on when the CMS instaler was up, but the exact same
thing happend again.
Have the player running before starting the CMS installer.
Failing that search for a thread on "Micro Installation CD ISO image". You'll find a link to download a copy of the Micro Installation CD ISO image which you can then burn to CD to make a new copy of the Micro Installation CD.
Install this first and then run the new version.

Upcoming new Win 7 install - what do I need to get LR installed on new build?

I've been a LR user since the pre version 1 days when Pixmantec came on board. Have most recently upgraded my license to 3 and am running 3.2 presently.
All of my installations have been on the same PC (running XP).
I am soon going to build a new PC that will run Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. The build will have new drives (2 SSD drives for OS/apps, working space; and a 2TB HDD for RAW/TIFF storage - backup will be to an external 2TB HDD).
As this will be a completely new installation and not an update, do I need to contact Adobe in advance to get LR installed? I have all the old setup files for versions 1, 2 and 3, along with my original purchase receipts emails and activation numbers.

Dave MIf you plan on copying the catalog folder from the old machine to the new one, once you have done so go ahead and check the permissions for the catalog folder to make sure the user account you will be using has full conrol over the folder. Otherwise Lightroom may crash whenever trying to open or modify the catalog. Log in as the top level account if you have more than one user account, make it the owner of the folder and and make sure any other accounts that use the program have full control over the folder. You can do that in the folder's Properties/Security tab.

PC crashed - need to get Iphone music to new PC
While I've seen variations of this same question asked in this forum, I haven't found an answer yet. My hard drive with all of my music has crashed and been replaced. I'd like sync in 'reverse,' and get the music from my iphone onto this new hard drive. While I realize there are copywrite reasons for not allowing this to happen without third party software, has anyone had any luck? I can't be the first guy with an iphone who had a computer crash (and hasn't backed up in a year).

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, and iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. This will include 3rd party apps as well. -
PC Crashed, need to get iPhone synced with new PC without losing data
I have an iPhone 4 which I purchased a few weeks ago. Love the phone. The PC I set it up with has crashed so I need to use another PC to store/transfer data to/from the iPhone. I don't want to lose the data I have already put on the iPhone (about 700 songs, movies, 200 apps, contacts...) so a simple sync will not work. The files on this other PC are almost identical to the files I had on the original PC. Is there any way to change the single PC the phone will connect with, without changing/losing the data already on the iPhone?
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
If you sync your iphone contacts/calendars to a blank computer, then they will be erased as well. Another reason to use your backup.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, then you can enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge. -
I have searched support but only find answers like "wait a few days and the folders will return." I need all the standard folders back like "today", "yesterday", "last 7 days", etc. Thank you.
Apologies for jumping in. This will not be a quick fix or even a complete fix, it may not even work; but it may be important you act quickly to get any fix!
Better still swap the HDD over and use another OS to clone and recover !
I guess it depends on exactly what you did, and the efforts you are prepared to use to attempt to recover the History.
Immediately back up your Firefox profile. That at least preserves your rolling bookmarks backups and whatever History you do have. Preferably back it up to another machine.
Now consider leaving that computer alone and using another machine. You can always load that profile on another machine and use it (or preferably yet another copy of it) and see what it contains. (search for a colon : that covers most History)
Assuming you did delete the history then with luck and timely action you may get some of it back using an undelete utility. (Followed maybe with a sqlite editor to stitch portions back together) download something like recuva : http://www.piriform.com/recuva
Recovering a whole profile or a whole history is difficult and probably unlikely, but I seem to recall some have succeed with this in the past. -

My daughter has her songs on her Ipod, but lost her old computer and has a new one. How can we get the songs from the Ipod to the new computer. I read about syncing the purchased songs, but what about the others?

I take lots of photos/videos of my kids and my iphone is hooked up to my macbook-pro and then new-my passport (1Tb) and having problems on transfering them to external hard drive (my passport). "My passport" does not have iphoto so I can't use it as a start up hard drive to my computer... I can't download on computer because it says it is full...

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

Like the thread topic says. I need help getting Aperture onto my new macbook pro that does not have a drive. I have no need for a drive after this to be honest just need my programs back on it. Thanks.
Two options:
Make a disk image or a clone of the installer CD on your Mac that has a super drive - you can create a disk image using Disk Utility or use Carbon Copy Cloner (if you have it) to clone the DVD to a thumbsdrive. Then run the installer on your MBY from this copy.
Or download the Trial Installer and install from there:
Download the Aperture 3.1 Trial. http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Aperture/061-8328 .20101020.AprE3/ApertureTrial3.1.dmg
Open the Aperture Trial disc image.
Double-click the "Aperture Trial.mpkg" file.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install Aperture.
After the installation completes, choose Software Update from the Apple () menu.
Install the Aperture 3.4 update from the list of available updates.

My PSC 2210 is really acting up and I need to get a new HP. Is there an "all in one" that does a decent job with color slides? I really don't want to buy two units and will only have to copy the slides one time then I will be done. A fax is not mandatory but will use it if there is an "all in one" that will do the slides. My printing needs are simple, personal black and white letter, some color, copy letters and some photos. The PSC 2210 filled all my needs except for not being able to do the slides.

View Solution.By color slides do you mean you want to scan 35mm slides or that you want to print overhead transparencies? Scanning 35mm slides requires a backlight adapter, referred to by HP as a Transparency Media Adapter (TMA). As listed here this feature does not seem to be offered on the recent HP all-in-one units, it is available in some specialized photo scanners.

I have an older iPhone (3gs) and need to upgrade to a newer phone (4S). I need to get my NOTES, CALENDAR, CONTACTS, PICTURES, etc backed up on iTunes so I can get that data loaded onto the new phone. But not sure how to do that. When I open iTunes it has a button that say "Back Up iPhone", but I'm not sure what that does. When I go into the sync options it say I have another user account and asks me if I want to merge of replace. I'm assuming it's trying to tell me I have an older iTunes Library, but don't know that. Geez, maybe people over 60 shouldn't have iPhones, iTunes just bafles me.

I got a new laptop (Macbook Pro) and my IPhone is synced with my previous laptop (which I no longer have). I've recorded dozens of very long (un-emailable) Voice Memos over the last few weeks and need to get them from my IPhone onto my new laptop.
How do I do this?

All existing songs and playlists on the iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library." I fear that if I click this I will lose all of my important Voice Memos as well)Just to add to what ChrisJ4203 said. You can sync them to your new computer using iTunes by selecting to Include Voice Memos on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing. However, you still need to re-establish syncing with the new computer without iTunes erasing all the iTunes media from your phone (as the warning mentioned).
If you copy your entire iTunes folder (not just your music) from your old computer to your new one, along with other non-iTunes media you may be syncing with iTunes (such as contacts, calendars and any photos synced to your phone from your old computer) by using migration assistant of following one of these methods: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527, then when you sync again with your new computer it will recognize your phone and sync as it did before. You will still have to authorize the new computer for any Apple IDs used to purchase from the iTunes and App stores (in iTunes>Store>Authorize this computer).
After that you can sync your voice memos to your computer as mentioned earlier.
If you want to archive your voice memos before you do anything with iTunes, you can use a 3rd party program such as PhoneView or Touch Copy. -
I have a new ipad mini that I need to activate but I need to get the data from my old ipad 1 and install on the new mini. I have a itunes acct and also icloud acct. How do I back up the ipad 1 data and then activate the mini. I assume I will need to transfer the sim from the ipad 1 to the mini.

my hard drive crashed on my MacBook Pro crashed and I need to get my CS5 up and running on the new hard drive. I copied what I could onto an external hard drive but when I drag and drop I get directions to uninstall but the uninstall folder I have does says it is an alias that is no longer present. I get error 6. I would like to get my software up and running on the laptop again please
If you subscribed to iTunes match the songs are kept in icloud. If you didn't but you did save the actual iTunes library folder which should include the music, video, etc. you should be able to just drag this file back to your machine in the same place and when you open iTunes it will give you a chance to identify the iTunes library folder.
You can test this to find out if you saved the media files or not and don't need to attach your nano to do it.
You are correct that once you connect the nano it will clear the existing files from it and sync it with the new iTunes library.
If you don't have the media files i'm not sure if/how to get them back on a windows ipod. I have everything backed up regularly because of the horror stories I have seen & heard.
