Need to give file location in FTP Adapter at runtime

Hi All,
We r using FTP Adapter for fetching files from remote server, we have scenario where we need to give the location of file at runtime. Location may vary so the file location must be given at runtime. We r using SOA 11.1.1.3

Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'FileListing' failed due to: Error in listing files in the remote directory. The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
    I have configured FTP adapter successfully by giving the following details,
    useSftp –
    username –
    password -
    host -
    port –
    authenticationType –
    preferredCipherSuite -
    and it is working perfectly for getfiles option and it is reading files successfully, but it is throwing error when I am using list files option. I tried this option for listing the files that are in remote directory. Any Help would be appreciated.

  • Unable to read PDF files created by FTP Adapter

    Hi,
    I am unable to read pdf files generated by FTP Adapter with its default settings.
    Can anybody guide me how to proceed with it. I guess I need to change something in encoding mechanism in FTP Adapter Outbound Connection Pool, but not sure what has to be.
    Thanks,
    Richa

    Hi all,
    I have got its solution. I was unable to read .pdf files because FTP adapter  was sending the files just by changing the extension from .txt /.xml to .pdf that is the reason that it was not readable.
    We had to write an java code to convert .xml file to .pdf file and then paas it to FTP ADapter.
    Thanks

  • FTP Adapter with Runtime OS Command before Message Processing

    Hi PI Techies,
    I have a confusion in using Sender FTP Adapter with Runtime OS Command before Message Processing.
    Scenario is like this:
    Ftp Adapter has to pick a file from FTP server after it checks that a Blank Marker file exists on PI server AL11 directory say "tmp directory".
    For this I am using Runtime OS Command before Message Processing where a shell script will check the existence of Blank Marker file on PI server AL11 and if found , it exits the script and FTP Adpater will then pick the Actual Data File and Process it.
    Now Confusion:
    I am confused in technical execution of steps by FTP Adapter..
    Whether FTP Adapter polling initiates the Interface or Runtime OS command checking the File existence will initiate the Interface?
    May be its follish to you guys... but please answer ..
    Regards,
    Anurag

    Hi,
    I will take it other way as we need to process the Data File not Marker File ( its just for checking the Data File is completely written on FTP server).
    Other way mean " Will Poll for Data.txt File and if  found then Runtime OS Command will do connect to FTP and check if Marker File exists, if yes then delete the marker file and read the actual Data File for processing.
    Please let me know, if Marker File does not exists on FTP folder, will it still read the Data File or will it exit the Adapter execution?
    Your help is much appreciated.

    Anurag

  • File Listing in FTP Adapter

    Hi All,
    I have given below the jca connection factory details. I am creating dynamic ftp using jca.jndi and I would also like to overwrite the IncludeFiles property dynamically. At runtime i will choose what type of files that i need to list(xml, txt etc).
    <connection-factory location="eis/ftp/FTP" UIincludeWildcard="*.*"/>
    <endpoint-interaction portType="FileListing_ptt" operation="FileListing">
        <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.outbound.FTPListInteractionSpec">
          <property name="PhysicalDirectory" value="/Input/test"/>
          <property name="Recursive" value="true"/>
          <property name="IncludeFiles"  value=""  />
          </interaction-spec>
      </endpoint-interaction>
    In bpel while invoking ftp adapter i am trying to give
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.jndi" variable="jndivar"/>
    <bpelx:inputProperty name="jca.ftp.IncludeFiles" expression="string('.*\.txt)"/>
    The first property is working as expected but the IncludeFiles property is not working. Kindly share your ideas.
    Thanks,
    Maanik

    Applied patch which oracle has suggested and the issue got resolved.Now i can pass values to jca.ftp.IncludeFiles dynamically.
    Thanks,

  • File Matching with FTP Adapter

    Guys,
    I have particular requirement where FTP Adapter needs to read set of files
    FILENAME.PCL
    FILENAME.I01
    the file name would be matching but extensions are different.
    the adapter needs to read the file match if they are SET of files ( based on file name) and move into target directory if not move into Error Directory .The Data needs some manipulation before it's written into target location so we are using ESB ( also for error notification) is it possible with FTP Adapter within ESB?
    Thanks

    May be difficult with ESB, may require BPEL. Can you give a specific example as that would make it easier to see what you mean.

  • Error with Archiving Faulty Source File in Sender FTP adapter

    Hi All,
    I have configured a Sender FTP adapter with Processing Mode as Archive.
    I am able to read the files from FTP server and archive all the successfuly processed file in the PI aplication server directory XXX/success.
    We need all the error files also to be archived on PI application server in directory XXXXX/Fail so I have checked the option Archive faulty Source Files and provided the application directory  XXXXX/Fail .
    I have unchecked the option Archive Files on FTP server.
    But the problem is when FTP adapter is getting any error files it is not able to archive it to application directory  XXXXX/Fail .
    In RWB it is showing the error
    Unable to archive faulty input file /data/abc.txt to /XXXX/fail/abc.txt
    Cause: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 rename: No such file or directory
    This directory is existing and works fine when I give this directory name in Archive directory of processing mode.
    Sender FTP adapter is trying to archive the file in FTP server which I dont want and giving us this error.
    If I give any Directory which is present in FTP server my error files are getting archived on FTP server but not in the archived folder.
    I have already unchecked the option Archive Files on FTP server.
    Please help......
    I am on PI 7.11

    Regards
    -Sri

    Hi Sri,
    There could be two reason for such a behavior:
    1) Using Non-Clustered Hosts: It is always recommended to use the clustered host for FTP adapter. Because FTP don't allow
    any locking mechanism on the files so in case of non-clustered with multiple host instances you might receive same file multiple times through different host instances.
    2) If the original document is still being written to the FTP server by the host application, the FTP adapter cannot
    delete the document and will retrieve another copy of the document at the next polling interval that is configured for the receive location. This behavior causes document duplication to occur.
    Workaround could be:
    Configure the host application to write to a temporary folder on the same hard disk as the public FTP folder and to periodically move the contents of the temporary folder
    to the FTP folder. The temporary folder should be on the same hard disk as the public FTP folder to make sure that the move operation is atomic. An atomic operation is an operation that is functionally indivisible. If you write data to the public FTP folder
    by using the BizTalk Server FTP adapter, you can do this by specifying a Temporary Folder property in the FTP Transport Properties dialog box when you configure a send port. If you specify a Temporary Folder property, make sure that this folder is on the same
    physical disk as the public FTP folder.
    Configure the FTP receive location to operate within a service window when the host application is not writing data to the FTP server. You can specify the service window
    when you configure the receive location properties.

  • How to read the whole text file lines using FTP adapter

    after it is not reading the remaining lines . how to read the whole text file using FTP adapter
    pls can you help me

    Yes there is you need to use the uniqueMessageSeparator property. Have a look at the following link for its implementation.

  • ESB: inbound file and outbound ftp adapter with multiple directories

    Basically I want to scan directories and write new files ftp directories. I could figure out how to do that for one directory. However I need to scan multiple directories and ftp upload files contained in those directories to corresponding ftp directories. Number of directories and their names are only known at run time. All directories are under one parent directory, both locally and the remote ftp site. We can assume all ftp directories exist.
    I could not figure out how to this. Is this possible at all? Directory names seem to be only specified at design time, for both inbound file adapters and outbound ftp adapters.
    Pranab

    Chris, I am not really sure this is the right place to ask this question. But hopefully you might have something in your armour to help me out.
    My requirement is to configure an inbound File/FTP adapter to read from a Directory which can be known only at runtime. A webservice call returns the file name and network path of the file to be read, but that happens only during the run time. I guess one way possible is, you configure a File/FTP Adapter with a logical name for directory and set the physical directory path using the endpoint property. But in that case, I should know the Physical directory @ deployment time.
    I would like to know whether it is possible to manipulate the Endpoint property of an ESB Service (SOAP Service/Routing Service/Adapter Service) during runtime.
    So is there any way to get the enpoint property configured during runtime??? Otherwise dO you recommend some other solution for this use case???
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Strange Problem in File Archiving - Sender FTP Adapter

    Hi,
    The scenario is file to IDOc. XI has to read the input file from client FTP server and archive it to XI local file server.
    File is archived properly without FCC (for xml files). But with FCC, the sender FTP adapter is archiving empty files (0 kb files) not the original file with data.
    I've checked SXMB_MONI, even there I can see the file data and the IDoc is getting posted with proper data. But, the archived file is empty. Not sure about the problem.
    Please suggest. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Joe.

    Hi,
    I've already tried archiving the file to the FTP server itself, it's working fine (even with FCC). But, when I try to archive it to the XI server (read from FTP and archive at XI server), it's writing empty file to the XI archive directory. I'm using PI 7.0 SP 14. My sender FTP adapter dtls follow
    Data Connection: Passive
    Timeout Secs: 500
    Connect Mode: Permanently
    Transfer Mode: text and binary tried both
    File type: text and binary tried both..
    Looking out for a solution.
    Thanks,
    Joe.

  • What is the max file limit for FTP adapter that uses FileIoInteractionSpec

    Hi,
    I know that Oracle provided some new features in 10.1.3.4 using which we can use the file and ftp adapter to move files in a more efficient way
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12524_01/relnotes.1013/e12523/adapters.htm#CHDGFAAB
    Essentially it involves modifying the WSDL to use the new InteractionSpec="oracle.tip.adapter.file.outbound.FileIoInteractionSpec"
    Now my question is, what is the file size limit which can be transferred using this.
    I have tried with 20 mb file, it works. But I want to know the upper limit.
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Tried with 31 mb file.
    It successfully delivers the file but....

  • When to use "Use Temporary File" in receiver FTP adapter

    Hi Experts,
    I have nerver used "Use Temprary File" as the "Write Mode" in receiver ftp adapter.
    I want to knwo under what kind of requirment we should use this option?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,

    Hi Aditya
    Usually it's advisable to use "use temporary file" as write mode when you want to avoid your file to be picked up by receiver while PI channel is still writing it.
    Obviously larger the file, more chances you have that this issue could occur.
    If you select the "use temporary file", XI will write the content to a temporary file with another name of your choice and only once writing has finished it will rename it to the actual name setup in the "file name scheme".

    Giuseppe
