Need to import from Mini to library...

ITunes would not launch... "missing files"...said to reinstall software... I did... library now empty.
How do I put the songs (I paid for them all through the ITunes store) back in my library?

You shouldnt have to necessarily need Yamipod. Its on your Harddrive, you just have to reimport them back over. Here is an Apple Article that will be helpful:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301895
In the iTunes task bar, click File>Add Folder to Library, search the HD for the music and go from there.

How can I keep tabs on the file size when importing from the Event Library into a Project? I want to ensure the movie will fit onto a 4.7Gb disc?

iDVD does not care about file sizes, as it compresses the file to the standard DVD format of mpeg2.
It only cares about length i.e. max 2 hours including titles etc.
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned abo
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • Importing from one Iphoto Library to another

    Hi,
Just wondering if you can help.
I have two Iphoto libraries and would like to consolidate them into one.
However, I want to import them in their current albums rather than as individual files as there is 31,000 of them and it will take forever to put them back into albums.
Is there anyway to do this?
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Audrey

Like this with iPLM as Larry suggested.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Importing from one iPhoto library to another and retaining metadata.

I have an iPhoto 11 library stored on DVD. Each image in the Library has a number set as its title, 1 through to 350.
The actual names of the images in the filesystem have the format 'P1010004.jpg'.
I want to export the images from iPhoto so that they use the title for the filename so that they're numbered 1.jpg, 2.jpg etc (effectively renaming all the files to use the image title instead of the camera generated title). I know this possible using the File > Export dialog.
With the DVD inserted, the library appears in iPhoto in the 'Shared' section in the left-hand pane. I can navigate through the library on the DVD and the titles and metadata are appearing correctly when I click on 'info'
When I try to export directly from the DVD, the 'File > Export' option is disabled / greyed out. So I presume I need to import these images to my local library to allow me to then export them.
However, when I try and copy the images to my local library by dragging the images from Shared library to my local library (all within the iPhoto window), the image title data is lost, the title becomes the filename 'P1010004'.
I've tried copying the Image Library from the DVD to my local drive, then opening iPhoto with the 'alt' key to select this library, however iPhoto won't open it and the following error appears: You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. However, I know that the DVD was created by iPhoto 11, the same version I'm using.
Can anyone please tell how I can import these images to my local library and retain the metadata.
    Thanks,

I'm just wanting to export to a local folder.
I've looked at iPhoto Library Manager but it didn't seem to want to load Library I'm trying to merge, and I'm not convinced that iPLM is fully compatible with the latest version of iPhoto.
What I really don't understand is that iPhoto immediately recognises the library stored on the DVD, and it automatically pops up in the 'Shared' list on the left hand side.
However, if I first copy the Library from the DVD to my local drive, then try and open iPhoto with this library using the ALT key, I get the following error:
You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Do you want to quit and use the latest version of iPhoto, or do you want to create a new photo library?
... which is strange because I'm using the latest version of iPhoto, and I know the iPhoto Library on the DVD was created using iPhoto 11.

  • Importing from one iphoto library to another--how to?

I want to go into a large iphoto library and break it up into several smaller ones.
I currently have two iphoto libraries which, it turns out, are much bigger than the optimal size. One is 25 gigs and the other 71 gigs.
I was told that 5000 pictures should be the max, and the SMALLER of the two has about 6000 pictures and movies. It works fine.
The 71 gig library, however, has had some problems, and run slowly. I want to break it up into several smaller libraries.
I know how to create a new library. And how to close one and open another. But how do you move images from one libary to another?
    thanks
    t

You can split the library by duplicating it and then delete those photos from the second copy that you don't want in it. If you want to move photos between libraries and keep the keyword, titles, comments, albums and event intact then use iPhoto LIbrary Manager that Niel suggested.
    Happy New Year
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Okay can import my mini DV now.
But the quailty is really bad. I wait a better clear pic. Help

How old is the tape? How it was stored could mean a loss of signal from the tape it self. Snowy picture could be the recorded tape may have lost some of it magnetic signal and causing snow. You can also try cleaning the the camera with one of those cleaning tapes as well. If the tape was recorded with a different camera then the one you are importing I found that sometimes it does not play back correctly, with some loss of quality.

  • Import from MINI DVDS FROM CAMERA (FREE WAY)

Hey is there any free software that can help me with my problem, Thanks
Hey everyone. I just bought a mac... I need help importing my videos.
1st. I plugged my camera into the imac (MY camera takes mini DVDS-RW so i cannot just put them in the mac)
2nd: the dvd icon came onto my desktop, but when i open it i got a blue folder that is labeled DVD_RSTAV.
3rd: I opened it and the files inside were VR_MANGR.BUP and VR_MANGR.IFO, and also VR_MOVIE.VRO (The files inside the DVD_RSTAV folder are grey and green lettering in the top left.)
But when I open i movie HD and try to import nothing happens.
Is there any programs or software mac compatable that could help me import, or do u know how to import.
Thank you for taking yor time to help me

    Hello Scott,
AFAIK, there's no free way to convert MPEG-2 to DV. While MPEG Streamclip is freeware, it requires Apple's MPEG Playback Component for Quicktime for MPEG conversion. See the system requirements for Streamclip:
This free software requires at least Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and QuickTime 6. It is also compatible with Mac OS X 10.3.x (Panther), Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) and QuickTime 7. It works with PowerPC and Intel based Macs. For MPEG-2 playback and conversion, you need the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component.
    hope this helps

  • Importing from an iPhoto library only half appear in the application but half are left in the library, how to move on?

when I import from an upgraded iPhoto library half the photos appear in the application but half are left in the library. How do I get my iPhoto to show all the photos?

Thank you this. It is the version that came with Yesomite which asked me to upgrade the file from an earlier version of iPhoto 6. This  did and it it rebuilt the Library. when I came look at the photo on the latest iPhoto only half go them appeared. I was opening the library that comes from the choice when you hold down command and option keys at the applecation start up. The other photographs were in the updated library but did not appear on the screen in the application window. They are present in the library but not showing in the application. IS that I have not given the time for them to load? This seem unlikely however. Thanks again

  • Import from mini DVs

I have mini DVs from Sony camcorder (DCR-TRV18). How do I import them into imovie? I bought a USB cable from Best Buy (not a firewire). When I connect the camcorder to the computer, nothing happens. Is there any other cable/accessory that is needed?

Sorry, this will not be possible. USB and Firewire are very different, and there is no such thing as a Firewire-to-USB converter. Even if there would be such a thing, you still wouldn't be able to use it because iMovie would not be able to read DV data streams over USB.
You need to get a computer with a Firewire port to capture the video from your camcorder. Or get a camcorder that doesn't use MiniDV tapes, but flash memory, DVDs, or a harddisk. These come with USB ports, and iMovie is able to read the video over USB from them.

  • Imported from Mini DV tapes, now how do I backup footage onto DVD?

Before I start working on the 7 hours of footage I just imported into iMovie, I would like to back it up on DVD. How to?
Also, is there any method that will make the DVD readable from another app and possibly from another OS?
I notice all my footage is in user > Movies > iMovie Events and that the files contained therein end with the .dv extension.
Thank you in advance for your help.

YOu can easily do this with Toast. Just create a data DVD.
I think you can also do this in OSX, (but I have not tried it lately.)
Open a burn folder on your desktop (or anywhere). Drag your DV files into the burn folder. And burn your DVD from there. No need to use iDVD for this, as long as you understand that you are saving the Data files, not a file that is playable in a DVD player.

  • What adaptor do I need to connect from mini display port to a dvi monitor

I want to connect a 2nd monitor to my mac mini via the mini display port, will the Apple adator do this ok or will I need an active adaptor

I had trouble with different Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapters, including a couple of Apple branded ones.
When I mentioned the problem to the Apple rep. at Fry's. He walked straight over to the rack, handed me a > Kanex Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D Adaper grined and said, I've never had one of these baby's come back.
After that my 2010 Mac Mini has been very stable running Dual 21.5" Samsung DVI monitors. One in on the Apple Supplied HDMI to DVI adapter, the other now on the Kanex Adapter has been rock solid for over a year.

  • Need to import from Maya 3D model in an Air-flash cs4 desktop application without loosing quality

    Hello everybody,
We developed an air flash cs4 desktop application for the medical industry.
Our application is too large because instead of using the 3 D model made via Maya, we use many images to simulate the rotation in order to keep the hight quality of the images.
When we first developed the application we used C++ but we were loosing too much quality because we could not import the texture and the light effect at the same time - we could import only one of them.
Now that we are using flash cs4 do you know if we could import in flash cs4 the 3D model which contains a hight amount of polygone with the texture and the light effect without any problem ? that could solve maybe our issu regarding the size of our application.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards
    Rachel

I would look into using Papervision 3D, a full 3D engine for Flash.  This is built by a 3rd party, but is the current standard for doing these types of things.
You can export the Maya project out to a compatible format for use in Papervision.

  • Importing From Min-DV Camcorder: Sound on One Clip, not the Other

    Hello,
Taped a live presentation on Canon HV 20. Part of the way through, briefly stopped then re-started camera. After importing to iMovie 6, the 16 minute clip 'pre-break' has no sound on playback, although it had sound in 'monitor mode' and on the tape. The 22 minute post break footage plays sound just fine.
    Thanks,
    DoubleJD2

Here you go. I don't know exactly what I did to make the timeline clips disappear, but I was trying to find the effects clip and that's how it happened. I know I used the relink project files option to do so, and after that I couldn't find anything. I've checked everything and everywhere including trash, but nada!
