Need to install Lion on another computer.  Can't find my purchased version.

How do I get to my purchased version of Lion.  I'm allowed to install it on a couple computers, so I'm trying to put it on one that had a hard drive crash a couple weeks ago.  When I went to my me.com it cued me for credit card info, but I already bought the OS, about 8 months ago.

OK, I found it in my apple account info. The download date was back in July, and I paid 32.00 for it.  So I know which account it is... I just can't see how to make it download again.
Click Purchases at the top of the App Store window in the menu.
I'm in the Itunes Store and at the top of that window there is a dark bar that displays "Music Movies TV Shows APP STORE Books Podcasts" etc...
I clicked that App Store button but at the top of that window there is no button called "Purchases".  Over on the right side of the frame there is a button calle "Purchased" and it has a little "NEW" icon next to it.  I pressed that and I get the Iphone and Ipad purchases, but no computer software.
Standing by for next direction! :~)
Thanks!!

  • I just installed Lion OSX. Where can one find the "domain" for iWeb?

With Snow Leopard one could find the "domain" for one's iWeb in Admin+Library+application support+iWeb. When one changed computers, one simply had to save this domain and then put it in the right place in the new computer. Things have changed with Lion OSX - and I can't find the "domain" for my web site.
Anyone know where to look (Scripts?)
    Thanks,
    T...

The reason Apple has hidden the User/Library folder is that there is not longer any reason to get into it what with iWeb (and iDVD) being discontinued and no longer supported.
We now know iWeb, and iDVD, have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
If a site is published  to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client to an ftp server subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed will be broken.  If published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
The iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

  • Error when installing Lion on empy HD: "Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded"

I've run in to a problem that is making me tear the hair from my head. I'm hoping for your help!
    Short story:
I'm trying to install OS X Lion on my 27" iMac.
I've erased the HD using Disc Tool in recovery.
    HD shows no errors.
I've tried Internet Recovery (it loads up, but wont start the installation)
I've tried creating a recovery usb on another similar iMac, and use it on this. Same error, only differance is it keeps "loading" when installing, but nothing happens. Same error in log.
When I try to start the Reinstall I get an error in the installation log that goes something like this:
Install Mac OS X Lion[354:9c03] Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded
Can not connect to /var/run/systemkeychaincheck.socket: No such file or directory
    Apple Care suggested:
    Trying another network (doesn't work).
Install with the original Snow Leopard DVD first, then upgrade (can't do that, the DVD is lost and a DVD from another friend is not working)
What can I do to get around this error?
Someone suggested buying a usb with Snow Leopard from the apple store. Do I really have to buy a NEW operating system because the recovery doesn't work? Would I have to pay to upgrade to Lion again?

Follow AppleCare's instructions on re-installing Snow Leopard and re-installing Lion. Your friends disc won't work because the discs are machine specific. You will have to get a replacement set of your original Install Discs from AppleCare for a nominal cost.

  • I have created a new partition on the Mac HD for Lion as I would like to dual boot. Do I need to install Snow Leopard on that partition before installing Lion? If so, can I use one of my Time Machine backups to do this?

Can I set up 2 different time capsule backups? one for the lion partition and one for the snow leopard partition?
No, you can't partition a Time Capsule's internal HD.  Both partitions will back up to the same sparse bundle. keeping the backups for each partition separate.
Time Machine will not take the two OSX partitions as two different computers, but for best results, exclude the Snow Leopard drive from backups on the Lion partition, and exclude the Lion partition from backups on the Snow Leopard partition.
There may be some files on the Lion partition that Time Machine on Snow Leopard won't like, among other things.  See #10 in  Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions for details.

How can I install Premiere in another computer, if my main computer does not work.  The service is paying monthly.

As far as I have understood it you can install PP on as many computers as you like, but only two can be active at the same time. So if you have installed it on just one computer you should have no problems installing it on a second one. If you want to install it on a third, you would have to deactivate one of the other previous installations to get it to run.

I need to install software on a computer without a dvd drive.  Where can I find the download for the student edition?

Perhaps you can copy it using a different computer, from the disk to a USB key.
However, external DVD drives are cheap and in my view essential.

Yes. The other computer will have to be running Snow Leopard or Lion and sign into the App Store with the same Apple ID used to purchase Mountain Lion.

If it's the same email address Apple registration on both, use the 2nd computer and go to the App Store and find Lion. If different, use the second computer but log in to the App store with the address you used on the first go round. The buy button should instead say install. Then go through the same process again.

  • Move I-web site from Lion to Mountian Lion on another computer

Hello: I have a website I designed in Lion on my macbook pro and now need to move it to another computer (i-mac) that has Mountain Lion on it.
I did some research and found that I needed to move the "domain" file to the computer that has mountain lion on it. which I did and tried to open that file. When I open the file, i-web does open but my website and it's pages do not show in i-web.
    Can someone help me please?
    Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, in Mountain Lion, you are only able to open one domain.sites file and not multiple files, so if you have already opened an iWeb domain.sites file, then you can't open another one.
You would need to download an app called Domain Cracker, which you can download from Roddy's website.
Do a search of this forum or visit his site at http://www.iwebformusicians.com and download domain cracker from his site and this will allow you to open multiple domain.sites files in iWeb.

My computer crashed.  I tried installing Elements on another computer and I get 'limit reached'.

You need to contact support directly for activation/deactivation and other installation issues. It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get the problem fixed right away. You will need your serial number. If an agent is not immediately available, refresh the page a few times until you see the green chat button, or try at a later time.

  • I have two versions of Lightroom installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

While looking at the "Programs and Features" folder on my Windows 7 computer I discovered that I have two versions of Adobe Lightroom installed on my system. One is Lightroom 5.2, installed on 9/19/2013, and the other is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.5 64-bit, installed on 7/5/2014
      - Can I uninstall the older version?
      - Will uninstalling the older version cause any problems with the newer version?
      - If yes to either question, is there anything I need to do before doing the uninstall (i.e. deactivating, etc.)
Any advice on how to correct this problem is gratefully appreciated.
PS; I have the same issue with Muse CC. See: I have two versions of Muse CC installed on my computer, can I uninstall the older version?

    Jim,
I thought it was odd that I had two versions of Lightroom installed as well. I have been able to track the issue back to an apparent "bug" in the Lightroom 5.2 update that installed a second version of Lightroom in addition to updating the existing version on my computers. At the time, I posted about it at Lightroom 5 installed twice on my laptop. While I never got an answer to my question, which was "Is this normal?" I did hear from others in the forum the experienced the same problem and had the same question. As time passed, later releases updated one of the two installations, but did not effect the second. Hence, two different versions of Lightroom 5 installed on the same computer.
Uninstalling the older version solved the problem. Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
The latest OS X version is OS X 10.8.3, so first check that you can use OS X Mountain Lion. First, check that your Mac supports Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's compatible, open the App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. While it's being downloaded, make a backup of your files and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X installer will appear, so follow the steps. After upgrading, you will have 10.8.3.
If your Mac isn't compatible with Mountain Lion, check that you can run Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4949 If you can run OS X Lion, call Apple to purchase it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 After upgrading to Lion, you will have 10.7.5.
To set up iCloud after upgrading, open System Preferences > iCloud. Read > http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup
