Need to keep Tray Icon on the task bar permanent

Hi everyone;
I wrote a Java program which creates an tray Icon on the taskbar and whenever the user clicks on the icon, a website on the default browser is open. When this program is executed, this icon is created and when the computer is rebooted, the icon is disappeared and next time I need to run the program again to create this icon. I'm guessing that this icon is disappeared because JVM is turned off.
I need to have this icon on the task bar every time that the computer turns on. I need somehow to automatically run my Java program when the computer turns on. I'm wondering if you know how to do this.
Thank you for your help in advance.

If you are under windows, you can put a link in the startup folder.

  • Why there is an icon in the task bar when Firefox is running?!

There is an icon in task bar, and some popup channels upon left-click.
I have been using Firefox for many years because it's CLEAN but this icon makes me feeling uncomfortable. I don't find the way to disable this icon in options or somewhere else.

    The iTunes Icon on the task bar;
    You need iTunes Preferences:
    Edit>>Preferences>>Advanced tab.
Can you find that? There is a checkbox near the bottom: "Show iTunes icon in system tray".
The safe mode start: You need to press ctrl shift and then open iTunes, keep holding ctrl shift until iTunes opens.
Any program that you have that makes use of your iTunes library could potentially prevent iTunes closing as it has to be open in order for another program to access iTunes info.
Another thing that can cause problems is Bonjour. You can try stopping the bonjour service and then opening iTunes - then check if it closes.
The following article include instructions for stopping bonjour:

If you want a brute force way of looking for other things interfering with iTunes, try MSConfig:

There is a link to the XP version on the page if necessary.
This is a diagnostic method, not a solution.

  • How do I place an icon in the task bar of a frequently used site (like Yahoo and Facebook have)?

I've tried holding down the cursor and dragging a website I'm working on, into the task bar and it doesn't work. I know there's an easy way.... please help

When I was using Windows XP, the only things I saw in the task bar were shortcuts to the applications I was running. The system tray also has shortcuts, but to background processes that have changeable settings.

  • Lost my volume icon in the task bar and cant get it back.

On my Vista system, the volume/mute icon on my task bar has disappeared and can only be reloaded temporarily by going to control panel for each off and on.
Can someone please outline what the steps are to restore this icon.  It does not go to task bar as other icons do.
    Many thanks,
    Bob

    Hi,
You can control from the speaker icon. To do that:
    (a) Right click a space are on Taskbar,
    (b) Click Properties,
    (c) Click Customize
    (d) Select Show icon and Notifications (for Volumes)
    (e) Click OK
    Regards.

  • How do I uninstall  the Digital Editions icon in the task bar?

I would like to remove the Digital Editions icon from my task bar, i.e., I don't want it to reappear every time I reboot.  How do I do so?

  • No more notifications icons (on the task bar, bottom right)

    Hi
I have had a problem for 3 days, I have no more systems icon in the notification zone (such as volume or wifi connection). Even in "property of the task bar", cases to display those icons are gray and I cannot fill them.
I tried to contact Microsoft support but they told me to contact Lenovo. But there is no support from Lenovo exept this forum...Hope someone from the support team will resolve my problem here.
    Thankx

  • I'm using Pale Moon x64. The icon on the task bar and start menu looks like a 'computer' and not the pale moon icon-why is that?

My computer is Windows 7-64 bit.
I recently installed the Pale Moon x64 from the proper site.
All is working properly, except that the 'icon' for PM in the task bar and start menu is not the blue moon. I wonder why that is and how I can change it.
This happened on install of PM.

Thanks, but I can't find any answer to my question there.
I can't even figure out how to post a question.
When I put a few words in the comment section/bar, the result was nil.
Everything is working, I just want the icon to be correct.
I guess the motto of 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it' may have to satisfy me.
Maybe it will change when there is an update.

  • I used to have task or shortcuts show up when I would right click on the FF Icon on the task bar. After installing 4.0 they are all gone. How do I get these back? or restore them to what they were?

Win 7 task bar has a Fire Fox Icon. Before installing FF 4.0 I could right click on the Icon and it would show short cuts to various sights, which when clicked on would open that sight in FF.
They are all gone now. What happened? Is there a way to get these back?

A few hidden preferences to check to make sure that the jump lists are enabled:
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # In the filter box type '''browser.taskbar.lists''' this should bring up a few preferences
    # To enable all parts of the jump list, make sure the following preferences are set to '''true''', if they are not double-click to them to change their value
    ## browser.taskbar.lists.enabled
    ## browser.taskbar.lists.frequent.enabled
    ## browser.taskbar.lists.recent.enabled
    ## browser.taskbar.lists.tasks.enabled

  • My macbook won't go to sleep unless I use the Apple icon on the task bar

I have a late 2008 macbook unibody (old i know, but its still kickin)
The computer won't go into sleep mode with the lid closed or if I hit the power button. i have to manually do it with the apple icon in the top of the screen.
The ambient light that blinks while in sleep doesn't light up when I do this either. Its been like this ever since Lion, Mountain Lion and now Mavericks.
I've done a clean install of Maverick on a brand new HDD. No change.
*I have modified the computer since I've owned it.
Upgraded from the OEM 2GB of memory to 4GB which is the max for my model.
It didn't come with the illuminated keyboard so I bought the backlit one and installed.
I also had to swap the motherboard to do this since my original did not have the backlight connector.
**Note the old motherboard also had the same problem with the computer not going into sleep. So I don't believe its a hardware issue.
(yes I plugged everything in and seated everything in a appropriate manner, I build custom PC's for friends all the time so I kind of know what to do and what not to do).
I have checked my sharing preferences and they're all unchecked as this is a fresh install of mavericks.
Everything else is all set to system defaults.
    Any suggestions/insight?

Check System Preferences > Energy Saver
Select:  Put hard disks to sleep when possible
    Then click: Restore Defaults

  • Firefox loads, icon is on task bar but when clicked the graphics slide off to the right but don't fill the screen & when clicked again, falls back into the icon

Firefox, Thunderbird & Quicken were active when I loadad & ran a slot machine game. When I exited the game & clicked the icon to return Firefox to full screen, I could see the image flash off to the right side of my monitor screen and disappear. When I again clicked on the icon in the task bar, the reverse happened- the image flashed from the right down to the icon. When I hover the mouse pointer over the icon, the open screens show up with the red X to close but the same thing happens when I click on that box. The other two programs that were open while the game was active are working fine, only Firefox has been affected. I cannot open the program to access any of the menu items as I cannot get the screen image on the monitor. I did uninstall the program and reinstall a freshly downloaded copy I had to use IE, as I am now) but with the same results when I run it. I did chose to save my settings so if something has been changed there then that might be the problem.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • Satellite P10-804: How to enable the battery icon visible on the task bar?

how do I do enable the battery icon visible on the task bar? currently I can only have the type of power save mode e.g. bulb & colour.
I have tried to activate right clicking taskbar/properties/notification areas, found required icon & instructed to always show, however the batery icon remains hidden.
    Help??

One question: Did you try to set several settings in the Windows own power options?
However, I would say some registry keys are corrupt and therefore the battery icon cannot be displayed in the task manager.
Probably only the new installation can help you displaying the icon in the task bar.

  • Firefox window is not shown and not even in the tasks bar, but there is a process running in the task manager

Clicked on the Firefox icon , but window did not appeared, checked in the Task manager, there is a process running with firefox.exe, and could not see any icon in the task bar adjacent to start button

I discovered that when the "Firefox is already running . . . ." message pops up I can fix it by doing the following [note: I get the same message for the Thunderbird e-mail program too] : 1. I open 'TASK MANAGER" and click on the "Processes" tab. 2. Next I scroll down until I see Firefox.exe *32 in the leftmost column (or Thunderbird. exe *32 if the message came up there), highlight that line by clicking on it and then click on the "end process" button on the right side on the bottom. 4. A pop-up window will come up but ignore its message and click on the "end process" button in the pop-up window. The program should then start the next time you click on the icon..
While that saves the need to restart your PC to fix the problem, I have yet to find any information as to the reasons for those two processes to show up in the first place. I'm running the 64 bit Win 7 Professional and do not know if that has something to do with those two processes running from time to time or not. The message comes up often but not all the time and I haven't been able to pinpoint any action on my part where the message comes up if I do '''X '''or the message never comes up when I do '''Y''' before closing Firefox or Thunderbird.

        imsarah18,
Hmm that's definitely odd! How long have you been using the application on your phone? Do the messages show up on your phone?

    HI dsparks,
Thank you for your question. I have tried on my windows 7 machine to zoom in with the "control" + "+" and "control" + "-"
You can also add an add on for the zoom button called [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/zoom-button-for-thunderbird/ Zoom button for Thunderbird]
If you click on the Thunderbird icon on the task bar and restart the program, this should not happen anymore.

  • Todays update! After todays update I can no longer send Safari or Spotify to the task bar without it cutting out (dropping audio in and out). Streams normally if I keep the window open on my desktop. This needs to be fixed immediately.
