    Hi there,
Business blue print is prepared when the proj is in analysis. You will understand what the business process is. You will study whats AS-IS process & TO-BE process. Then you will try to map it in SAP. If the business process cannot be mapped in standard SAP, then you will have a GAP. GAPs can be fulfilled through customer exists or customized code.
You can find the relevant data in http://www.sapfans.com/sapfans/asap/be_04_e.htm

  • How can I PREVENT imessages and phone records from being deleted? Its good to be able to block things, but I need to know that no content is being deleted either.

Restrictions allow the requirement of pass code to deletion of Apps, but not of actual phone content. That is only half the solution - if someone wants to communicate with another person badly enough, they will find a way to create a different user account, phone number, etc.regardless of whether or not the number/person is blocked. I need to see ALL communication and ensure nothing can be deleted without a pass code.

There is no way to do that. If some one is creating new accounts to communicate with you after you've asked them not to, you have a bigger problem. You may want to talk to your local law enforcement about stalking.

  • Need to know if Oracle will work for this project

I am looking for an appropriate software application that is free and can handle the job I need to get done. I need an application that will allow me to save email messages from a forum and cross reference them by email address, topic, keywords, date etc. in order to make a easily searchable database out of the information contained within the emails.
I know next to nothing about database software so am asking if the free version of Oracle will do what I need.
    Sandy

Hello Sandy, and welcome to the OTN forums!
I need an application that will allow me to save email messages from a forum and cross reference them by email address, topic, keywords, date etc. in order to make a easily searchable database out of the information contained within the emails.
I know next to nothing about database software so am asking if the free version of Oracle will do what I need.Well, XE doesn't "ship" with taht kind of applicaiton, nor do I know sample applications that do exactly would you are searching for. But XE could be a platform. This depends on how much of the application you expect to implement yourself and how many users would use that application. The "free version" of Oracle Database (Express Edition aka XE) is limited in various ways, e.g. to use just one CPU at a time and not more than one GB memory in total, as well as (of release 11.2) 11 GB for user data on your disk. So, if this is application shall be used by only a few users and you'll find 11 GB enough for your database, XE can be sufficient. See the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/license.112/e18068/toc.htm]Licensing Information for all details.
XE also comes with a lot of PL/SQL APIs that can do a lot of things for you, even SMTP support for fetching emails is possible.
As for the front end, you have Oracle Application Express (APEX) in XE that will allow you to build the frontend for your database very easy. You'll find a few example applications and a lot of tutorials on APEX that can help you with that job.
If you have your favorite development framework already, you can surely use XE as database backend for lots of frameworks, e.g. using JDBC or .NET providers.

  • Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.

Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.
I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
application and the selection is stored in a config file in
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
    users.
Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    they actually get
    C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    and user "B" gets
    C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?

I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
(a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
This was clarified by the following series of comments:
I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET
USE LPT2 \\computer\printer password /USER:domain\user /PERSISTENT:YES and then tell the driver to print to LPT2 –  James

@JamesNewton That's actually the exact method we used. The way around the "network printer" part is to install it as local printer and map it to a TCP/IP port that way. –  Nathan

You mean in the case where the printers are TCP/IP connected and not local USB / LPT to the users workstation? That makes sense. Wonder if this will work for USB connected printers... –  James

@JamesNewton You'd share the local printer on the client's PC then on the server connect via TCP/IP to it. You'd need static addresses or use DNS names if DHCP, though. –  Nathan

Ah. Yes. I see. Looks like the LPT thing should work even with a USB connected printer:superuser.com/questions/182655/… –  James

  • Multiple compnay codes--Blue print template

    Hi Guys,
I need a Business Blue Print Template with Multiple Company codes, for Reference. Please send the documet to [email protected]
thanks in advance and points will be assigned..
    suresh

    Hi Suresh,
When you create a G/L account it is possible to fill in the field  Alternative account number (see the help).
When you want you can assign this to the countries own chart of account and report on this.
In this case I advise you to use one chart of accounts and use Alternative account number for reporting by country.
Now it is possible to use one controling area. This is use-full when you want to make total reports over the company codes.
In controlling you store document currency, company currency and controlling area currency. It is possible to use paralel currencies.
When you are doing settlement to an other companie code's it will create an inter company posting. But it is possible with the exchange rates that you have results you don't want
    Paul
Alternative account number in company code
The alternative account number field in the company code area is freely definable. You could use it to enter:
the account number from your legacy system or
the account number from a country chart of accounts if your corporate group uses a standard chart of accounts.
The alternative account number is only issued in the financial statement if you explicitly assign it to the relevant items in the financial statement version.

      Business Blueprint
    Definition
A Business Blueprint documents the business process requirements of a company. In collaborative business processes, several companies are involved.
    Use
The Business Blueprint gives you a general idea of how your business processes could be mapped in one or more SAP Systems. The Business Blueprint documents in detail the scope of business scenarios, business processes, process steps, and the requirements of a mySAP.com solution implementation.
    Structure
A Business Blueprint compises the following structure elements in a hierarchy:
    •        Organizational units
    •        Master data
    •        Business scenarios
    •        Business processes
    •        Process steps
You assign content, for example, project documentation, Business Configuration Sets, or transactions to individual structure elements, in the SAP Solution Manager.
You can also create structure elements for organizational units and master data, below a business scenario. You only use these structure elements if the organizational units and master data are only relevant to the business process above them in the structure.

SAP DMS are for storing documents such as CAD drawings, Materials pictures etc.
With the document management system, users will be able to view the documents with ease within their SAP systems.
Installing the SAP DMS requires a little bit of planning on how you want to do it.
You have to give a little thoughts to stuff such as :-
    1. The total numbers of documents that will be store monthly.
    2. The average file size of each documents.
    3. The capacity of your present R/3 system.
    4. Your present network bandwidth.
    5. Document Archiving Strategy.
    6. Backup and Recovery Plan.
Additional purchasing of hardware are required, especially if you have large amount of documents to stored.
With this in mind, you can then decide on how you want to do it.
You can do this in a few ways :-
    1. Import the documents into the R/3 system.
    2. Use an external document server.
    3. Have a dedicated PCs where all the documents are stored.
Most companies that intend to used DMS will opt for Option 2 as they does not want to overstretch the R/3 database.
Options 1 requires you to setup the conversion interface.
The conversion interface allows R/3 to automatically covert your files and import it into the R/3 database.
Here is a simple example of storing documents into your PCs, just to have a feel how the SAP DMS works:-
For those using Citrix, you have to set this at the Citrix Server where the SAPGUI is located.
    Configure SM30 - V_TDWE_C1
Put this command in your autoexec.bat
    SET HOSTNAME=PC1234
    Restart your pc.
You can create/manage your documents in transaction code CV01N / CV02N
Assigning Documents to a Material Master Record
Access a material master record in Create or Change mode, and select Basic Data.
To create links to documents, choose Additional data -> Document data.
The Link to Documents dialog box appears.
Assign one or more documents to the material.
If you do not know what the document number is, you can search for it using the search help or by choosing Find document.
When assigning a document to a material, you have the following options:
    1. Viewing the document by choosing it in the Link to Documents dialog box.
    2. Viewing any originals of the document by positioning the cursor on the document and
choosing Display originals in the Link to Documents dialog box.
To return to the Basic Data screen, choose Continue.
    Save your data.
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.
