Need to know my password

This is a brand new Macpro. I ran the setup assistant correctly I believe. Now I wish to transfer files from my previous MacPro to this new one and I get asked to type in the "password". First I don't think I had put in a password other than my Apple ID and password associated with this ID. I have tried all the passwords I might have used, i.e. those I use for other purposes and none of them work. How can I reset this computer or reinstall it completely. There is nothing on it other than my Icloud documents. It seems to me the best is to Reinstall from the very beginning.
MacPro using Mavericks 10.9.2

Did you also change the username to your previous mac's username? Does it give you that option?
Otherwise I would suggest booting your old mac & removing the password completely.
And also not creating any passwords at any prompts if you can while installing.
I'm not sure if this will work or not.
What are the permissions currently for the old Macintosh HD? Check in Get Info.

You don't need to know the password. Log out of the account, then log in as an administrator and delete the account in the Users & Groups preference pane. You will need to click the lock icon and authenticate first.

  • I need to know the multitude of reason why my iPhone 5s would prompt me for my Apple ID password. Please help.

I need to know the multitude of reason why my iPhone 5s would prompt me for my Apple ID password.
All I did was place my phone on the charger, I then walked away for 10-15mins and when I came back it was asking me to enter my Apple ID password.
I never gave my password out to anyone ever and hardly anyone knows my email address.
I haven't recently downloaded anything either and I only have one apple device which is my iPhone 5s.
I just want to know really if it could have been because someone was trying to log into my Apple ID?
Please help with multiple reasons why this could have happened. I just want to know the options. Thank you

My iPhone 5s did the same thing yesterday. I have iCloud backup turned on in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup and that means it will automatically do a backup when the phone is plugged in, locked and connected to wi-fi. I had it charging and when I returned it was asking for the password and the prompt did identify that it was requesting it for the iCloud backup (something you may not have noticed if you didn't look closely).
It has never done that before and 2 iPads in my household have not yet done it. All are on iOS 7.1
I have found a report of the same issue by a user of the 7.1 beta and in that case it was happening every day. In my case I entered the password then went to the same area in Settings as above and used the "Backup Now" button to do a backup. I will see tonight when I charge again whether this is going to be an every day problem.

  • I'm trying to connect my ipod touch to my wi-fi but the wi-fi is locked and needs a password i do not know which password to use help

Please help i do not know which password to put in ive tried the WAP WEP and wireless pin but it still said unable to connect

    - If the router is broadcasting its SSID (can see in available networks) then you just enter the password.  I know the type of encryption.
    - If the router is not broadcasting then you need to select the type of encryption used on the router and then enter the password.
    - Usually a router only has one password and one encryption.
    - You have to use the correct password and we can't help you determine it.  You can reset the router.  Just download/look at the manual for your router by going to your router manufacturers support site.
    - Are you sure you are trying to log into the right network/router.  When I look at my available networks I have five available.
If you need further help give us more details or your network/router configuration.

I Need help knowing my restrictions password how do I get to know my password again?

If you have forgotten the restrictions passcode, you cannot do a simple restore of the system as the restrictions passcode is stored as part of the backup.  The unlock passcode is not stored as part of the backup so you can simply erase and restore to remove it.
In the case of the restrictions passcode, the only way to remove the passcode is an erase of the system, Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.  That removes all of your apps, data, photos, music, etc.  The device is then as if it came out of the box.  You can restore your apps, and so on, if you made a backup of the iPad BEFORE you installed a restrictions passcode.  If you did not make a backup before adding the restrictions passcode, you will have to either live with the iPad as is, or erase and then start the process of downloading apps and music from scratch.
If you have an iCloud account, be sure and put all photos in iCloud photo stream so you can restore them to the iPad after erasing it.

  • HT1620 So what do I need to know about  using my iPad on public networks, say restaurants, etc. Can I use passwords of any kind, or will I be compromised?

So what do I need to know about using my iPad mini on public networks, say in restaurants. Will I be compromised by using  passwords? What protects my iPad?

To date, the iPad/iPad mini/iPhone/iPod Touch produces have remained secure.
In a public place, you do not control the network, so be careful of what activities you perform, such as accessing your bank, or other sensitive places.
Just surfing and reading your email is generally speaking not a problem.  Hopefully, your email connections are over secure SSL connections.

If it is asking for the screen-lock passcode then:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
    Otherwise follow varjak paw recommendation

  • I know the password is correct, as other devices and this site have accepted the password.  I would like help in uninstalling a few of the devices where the program is no longer needed.

I would like to use Adobe Digital Editions on a new Nook Tablet.  I believe I have gone over the limit of devices and this may be why my password is being rejected on the new device.  I would like to uninstall the program from devices where it is no longer needed.
Obviously my password is correct, as I am logged on here.

On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.   In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa.   You may find the following Apple Support article helpful.

  • Need to add an iPad to my network but I do not know the password.

My son setup our Valet M10 network and supplied the password. Unfortunately he is now in the millitary and does not remember the password. I cannot use the Cisco Connect software to access the network because it also asks me for the password.
I currently have 4 PC's connected to the network, 2 XP and 2 WIN7, and I want to add an iPad.
So how do I determine the password or reset the password, when I don't know the password? Will pressing the reset button (and holding it for 15 seconds) reset the router back to the defaults? If so, how do I then access the router to then set the password?
I saw in a Win7 option somewhere a "Network Password reset" option, will this reset the networks password or just that PC's access to the network?
    Mark

So if you want to reset the Router in that case the Router will come back to factory default… You have to press and hold the Reset button for 30 seconds in order to reset the Router M10…. Secondly If you want to configure the router with the help of the Cisco Connect Software so for that you need to uninstall the existing Cisco Connect Software from the computer...Then power cycle the whole network...Make the following connectivity – Connect the Modem with the Router’s Internet port and then connect the Computer with any one of the Ethernet port of the Router [Numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4]... Then install the Cisco Connect Software that came in the CD with the Router... Since after installation pull up the Cisco Connect there you will be able to see the following window -
Since the Router will create its own wireless Network name and password, so if you want can change it for that click on " Router Settings"
From here you can personalize your own Network Name and Password...
Otherwise you can configure it manually as well…
