Need to link text within movie template

Hi all,
I downloaded a flash site template (some time ago) that I'm
just getting round to using. I don't recall if support was offered
when I bought the site. If so, I've long since lost the link to
that support. So, I'm turning here for help.
The site in question is www.plumbingsystems.net. Within the
template there are individual movies. One of these movies is
titled, "Text Area." I don't believe I can actually post this movie
for review but I'm hoping by posting the text layout under
"actions" that someone out there might be able to tell me how this
text can be formatted and, most importantly, if the text can be
linked to other URLs. Specifically, I want to take the text that
makes up the "Client List" text and link some of the client names
to external URLs with photos of the client's work. Here is how the
text appears within the "actions" panel of the Text Area movie:
text = "With decades of experience in commercial and
industrial plumbing, the owner and employees of Plumbing Systems
understand the needs of contractors. We provide expertise with
numerous specialty piping services, reliability in meeting
timelines and a commitment to working within
budget."+newline+newline+"Having worked jobs from 4,000 to 400,000
square feet and covered projects from commercial kitchens to malls
and medical centers, we’re familiar with the challenges of
both large and small scale projects. We can offer up everything
from planning and design of a job, to installation and
maintenance."+newline+newline+"Our ability to handle a project from
planning through completion has allowed us to build long-term
working relationships with some of the country’s top
companies. Take a look at our client list, projects and other
links. We think you’ll see why Plumbing Systems is the
logical choice for contractors looking to partner with success.";
Again, I need to know if/how this type of text can be made to
a live link to a URL. Is this possible? I'd appreciate any help.
This has confounded me, on and off, for a long time with these
types of templates.
Laurie

  • HT2506 In pages how can I link text within the document? I can find a bookmark option and links only allows me to link to a web page

    Hi all,
This is my first time using this discussion site! Any help would be great, as I am getting very frustrated with pages!
What I am trying to do is link text at the bottom of a document to a page at the beginning of the document. I can't find a bookmark option adn when I clink insert link it only provides an options to link to a web page. Help! thanks

Bookmarks are missing (sadly) and with them, the ability to create an in document link.
I was looking for this feature in a Table of Contents. When you assign a 'style' to text in a document, you can Insert > Table of Contents. Then Pages will keep the TOC updated and you'll be able to 'link' from the page number in the TOC. (Not much help though, for the OP)

  • Need Help Adding Text To A Template

I am using this template: http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/21091.html
I would like to add text as it opens, going across the flag, something like this....
Sam Young. Not Uncle Sam, but here to serve you!
Now, obviously, that's not what I want it to say, but it's an example, of how I want it to move across the page, on the flag, before it opens to the first page. I've tried everything I know to do. I'm sure I'm just missing something silly. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

Wow... am I asking the impossible here? lol
I'm still looking for help with this, if anyone can help me.
I am searching for template help tutorials, and I don't know if I'm just calling it the wrong thing or what.
I want the text to scroll ACROSS the screen, on entry to the site, across one of the stripes on the flag. Every tutorial I have found tells you how to add scrolling text in the box, like paragraphs. I just want one line, a Welcome Message, if you will, that goes across the screen. I was able to do this in DHTML previously, but Flash is a whole new ball game for me.
Ok, I just did a search, and it's a MARQUEE that I want. So, I've searched, and found this: http://www.kirupa.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-3601.html
So, I'll try that and see if it does what I want it to do.
I'm including all of this, in the event that someone else is interested.

  • I need to link to a screen within a movie from outside the movie

    Hi,
That last question was answered so quickly, I'll ask this
    next one right away:
I need to link to a screen within a movie from outside the
movie (so for example, from file1.cp, I need to open file 2, screen
    4).
Am I able to do this in Captivate 1?
    Thanks,
    Kim

I've just gotten a chance to check out these responses. About
the Flash - no can do. Don't have it. And about breaking the file
apart, that would get messy because I have several files already.
OK. At least I know my options are limited to linking to page 1
from outside, so I'll have to be creative.
    Thanks for the response.

  • Help needed using CSS positioning for movie/text

I have been deconstructing a few sites to get a better
understanding of CSS for a simple portfolio.
Anyway, I have a simple navigation set up in place which I
want to place my movie next to. The problem is that I can't work
out how to place it next to the buttons...
The url to the site is:
    http://www.notjustthenews.co.uk/page8.html
Once I've done that I want to place a paragraph of text to
the right of the movie so that if you resize the browser window the
    text wraps around the movie.
Any help would be most appreciated.
    The CSS is question is:
    #wrapper{

    #widescreen {

  • Is there a way to link text fields, so when you reach the end of one line it moves to the next?

I often use Acrobat Pro to create forms, whether it be from an existing document or from scratch, and this has always irritated me.  I know you can create a text field and select the Multi-line option; however, this is not what I am looking to do.  I have a form that has a Yes or No Radio Button, then below it says "If yes, please explain:" followed by 3 lines to respond.  When I run it through the Form Creator, it places three text fields on the response lines - as it should.  The first line is shorter because of the text, which is why I cannot use the Multi-line option.  So is there a way to link these three text fields, so that when I reach the end of the first line it stops and automatically moves to the next?
Here is a picture of what I am looking at:

These types of lines are a left-over from printed forms. There's no reason
to keep using them if your form is digital.
The best approach is to combine the fields to a single multiline field, and
get rid of the first line. Trying to link text fields together is very
tricky. I haven't yet to see it done properly.

  • How do I move text within a cell down in "Numbers" please?

I am trying to move text within a cell down in Pages. I use one cell as a topic and then add text in the  next row of a cell. It may seem strange to some but I have been doing it for years in Excel. Here is the best example I can give here:
    Customer
    Customer Notes
    ABC Company
Imagine a long row of text here and I want to start a new line of text below this one without (within the same cell)
Text would continue here but still within the same cell (I use to be able to just hit return in excel)
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks so much! ;-)

  • Dragging link in: DataFlavors contain URL but I need the URL plus link text

    Hello!
In IE under Windows, suppose I have loaded a webpage that contains the following:
If I drag this link to the desktop (or use "Copy Shortcut"/"Paste"), a .url file is created -- a Windows "shortcut". This file CONTAINS, among other things, "target.html". Windows/IE NAMES the file "click here.url".
I have a DropTarget which is accepting links dragged from IE. It seems the DataFlavors are ONLY representing the target URL ("target.html"). I cannot locate the link text ("click here") anywhere.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the link text?
I am hoping (eventually) to find a cross-platform/cross-browser solution, but right now I'm just working with Windows/IE.
    thanks for your help!

  • Text entry into template

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding entering text in InDesign CS5.5.
My company creates poetry books where children fill in the blanks on templates, ie 'In my family there are ........... people and me/We are are ......... happy as can be,' etc.
The main poem doesn't change but the variables that are entered obviously do. Currently the document contains the pretyped poems and typists scroll through the document moving the cursor over the blank area and inputting the desired words. It's fine this way but as you can imagine very repetitive ie click enter click enter etc, hundreds of times for each book. I am simply trying to speed up this process whereby the mouse can be eliminated and a tab / return key can be used.
I have had a look at text variables and anchored text objects without much success, but wonder if there is a  process without needing to use the mouse to relocate the cursor - just using the tab key which would then move to the next 'field', like it would with a cell in a table? I think it might overcomplicate things if every poem (sometimes up to 300) were to become a table with cells, but it's along the right lines. The 'fields' need to be of variable width, and sometimes cause the sentence to break onto a new line. Would there be a simple say to tab between the blank spaces in a block of text to make inputting faster? I also thought of flattening the background beneath and simply having linked text frames with a break to next frame command within that, which would enable the user to move between the frames quickly, but can't help but think you guys could come up with a far simpler suggestion!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Because writing good poetry is hard, you might assume that your workflow for this project should be hard, too. If your replaceable items are indeed similar to your example - one item placeholder for each item name - a simple find "variable text 1 and replace with Joey" would work. The only issue is that you'd need to do this once for each item.
You might want to look into the findchangebylist script that ships with recent releases of ID. Briefly, it works like Find/Change, ie, it looks for something and replaces it with something you specify. However, it uses a list of sequential find/change statements like "find variable text 1 and replace with Joey," "find variable text 2 and replace with Rover," etc. You'd need to customize the script by entering the variable text placeholder names for the find, and your typists would need to learn how to type each customer's data into the replace position of each of the script's statements, and save the script without changing anything that could mess it up. Running the script does the really hard and repetitious work of replacing all instances of each item name with the appropriate item data.
You'd only need to replace the script's find placeholder names with your placeholder item names once, then open copies of the saved script for the typists to replace the change placeholders. ID scripts need to be saved as text files with the extension jsx. You can edit them with a plain-text editor, ID's ExtendScript utility, or even edit them within ID itself and export them as plain text files.
Search Google for terms like "indesign running scripts," "using indesign extendscript," "exporting text from indesign," and "indesign findchangebylist" without quotes for details.
BTW, IIRC, Data Merge only works with a single page layout.

Thanks Peter. I probably explained it in a very longwinded manner!
Basically we have hundreds of handwritten poems where people have filled in half a dozen blank spaces with different words. These words are being typed into an InDesign template in the relevant gaps within the rest of the poem.
Rather than scroll through a 300 page document clicking on the relevant gap then entering the desired word, moving to the next page then repeating this three step process until the book is complete, I was hoping to somehow come up with a process whereby it would be possible to 'tab' the cursor into the next gap, eliminating the need to change pages or even use the mouse.
I also wondered about linked text frames within the existing one (not sure if this is possible?), with automatically adjusting widths ... anything to save time really.
I've mocked up a jpeg of the desired result where the pink text represents the words being entered manually in a different character style. 'Variable text 1' would be typed, then return / tab used somehow to move to the next field where ;variable text 2' would be typed ... etc.
A data merge seems logical but I was hoping for something more direct within InDesign?

.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered -  - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

I would like the current page to be highlighted white when it is clicked on,
    Here's one method
    http://alt-web.com/Articles/Persistent-Page-Indicator.shtml

  • How to apply style to partial text within a tag in xml file

I have created a webpage using Dreamweaver CS4 Spry Regions. Everything is functioning as expecting, however now I need to apply a style to part of the text. Every occurance of the company name needs to be in italics - the problem is that the company name appears within different parts of the text within a set of tags.
    http://www.certifiedangusbeef.com/private1/sales/facts/index.php
ie - <description> this is my company name which must appear in italics</description>
In this example, only "company name" needs to be italicized. We have created an XSL file that applies the italics properly when the XML file is viewed in the browser. But it does not have any effect on the final web page - as though spry is blocking the XSL or we've missed a step in linking all the files together.
    Here's the XSL code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><!-- DWXMLSource="facts.xml" --><!DOCTYPE xsl:stylesheet  [

  • Need help moving text

Using CS4 on Win7 Pro. My client bought a template that has a flash piece and I am a total novice in Flash but I do know that you edit the FLA file and export it as a movie. So I opened the FLA file and I'm able to edit the text (all that I want to do right now) but some of the text I'm replacing is longer than the original so it gets hidden under a replay button and some is shorter and is spaced too far away from the replay button (I also want to change the color of that and I think I can figure that one out). There is plenty of room to the left for the text to move to as the original file does have varying lengths of text and it does adjust for that but I can't figure out how to change it for what I've done (I haven't received the final text yet so this is a practice run)... I changed the text by going to the timeline and selecting text from the icon (Edit Symbols) in the upper right of the screen. But where do I tell it where the text should start or how wide it needs to be? I tried moving them individually in the timeline but that didn't change it.
Here's the file: http://do-rightweb.com/fertility/flash/header_vJT.fla (I only want to leave this up temporarily because it is huge. The test location of the file in action is here: http://do-rightweb.com/fertility/
In the future I may have to swap out some of the images leaving the transitions which I think I can do by adding them as a layer deleting the ones I'm replacing...
So if anyone can lend a hand in helping me figure out how to adjust the text width I would be totally jacked! Any help and advice about swapping images or changing colors would be greatly appreciated too. Or even a link to a video to help me understand how to reverse engineer this would be cool.
Thanks in advance for your help and assistance!

    Hi,
Since the text animation is done using the timeline in this file you have to manually edit the positioning of the each symbol element in every keyframe i.e
You have to go in to the editing mode for txt_c instance of txt_2 > Layer 8 where the required elements are placed
    1. You have to position the Layer 1(under Layer 8) items at every key frame for the display text
you may have problem while positioning second text onwards as you will not be seeing them on stage. For this you may want to duplicate the symbol(txt_5) at key frame 37 and edit it to have only the second text and remove everything else. And you can swap the existing symbols at key frame 44 and key frame 54. You can repeat this for the rest of the text.
    2. Next you have to position the numbers which spread across three layers (txt_3, txt_4 and Layer 6) under Layer 8. They are for prefix number, suffix number and the dot respectively
    Thanks!

  • How to link text frames in Pages 5.2?

How to link text frames in Pages 5.2?

The correct term in Pages is Text Boxes, and true linking is not implemented in v5.2. You can Unite, Intersect, Subtract, and Exclude multiple Text Boxes via the Arrange panel. These attributes only appear when two or more Text Boxes are selected. Also, on the Arrange menu, you will need Object Placement set to Move with Text, and the Text Wrap set to None for more accurate positioning.
In the following example, there was initially a Text Box with overflowing text that was duplicated. With both Text Boxes selected and aligned, I could then use the Unite feature from the Arrange panel. This allowed the text to flow into the second box. Selecting text in one box and dragging upwards continues the text selection between both boxes. Hoefler italic applied in one box is applied to both. Appropriately placed, another trip to the Arrange panel to enable Text Wrap around and text fit adjustments.
