Need to make the internal table structure dynamic

Hi ,
I need to upload data from an excel file, the columns in the excel keep on varying
E.g the number of columns in one excel file can be 10, in the second excel file it can be 15.
So in order to upload the data into an internal table the structre of internal table needs to be dynamic and change according to the number of fields in the input file .
Is it possible by using field symbols or is there any other method to do the same
Thanks.

Hi Nishant,
According to ur requirement, dynamic internal table can be created like below. But database table name has to passed dynacimally.
    DATA: ftab TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ddfield,
          ftab_wa TYPE ddfield,
          fcat_itab TYPE lvc_t_fcat,
          fcat_wa TYPE lvc_s_fcat,
          poi_itab TYPE REF TO data.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <itab> TYPE STANDARD TABLE.
    CALL FUNCTION 'DD_NAMETAB_TO_DDFIELDS'
      EXPORTING
        tabname  = p_table  " Pass database table name dynamically
      TABLES
        ddfields = ftab.
    LOOP AT ftab INTO ftab_wa.
      fcat_wa-fieldname = ftab_wa-fieldname.
      fcat_wa-ref_field = ftab_wa-fieldname.
      fcat_wa-ref_table = p_table.
      APPEND fcat_wa TO fcat_itab.
    ENDLOOP.
    CALL METHOD cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table
      EXPORTING
        it_fieldcatalog           = fcat_itab
      IMPORTING
        ep_table                  = poi_itab
      EXCEPTIONS
        generate_subpool_dir_full = 1
        OTHERS                    = 2.
    ASSIGN poi_itab->* TO <itab>.  " <itab> is dynamic internal table
Might help u.
Thanks.

  • Determining internal table structure dynamically

    Hi,
    I have a number of internal tables in my program which I declare using types. As an example:
    TYPES: begin of ty_hierarchy,
                   control_id(6)   type c,
                   node_id(10)     type c,
                   node_name       type bezei40,
                   material        type matnr,
                   node_level      type prodh_stuf,
                   node_parent(10) type c,
                end of ty_hierarchy.
    DATA: it_hierarchy type ty_hierarchy occurs 0.
    Further down my program I need to determine the structure of internal table IT_HIERARCHY dynamically. Because I have a number of internal tables, I need to determine which internal table is being processed. Therefore it's important that I know the structure of the table that I'm currently processing.
    I am aware of CL_ABAP* classes and functions like GET_COMPONENT_LIST. However because I have declared my tables using the TYPE statement the method/function cannot read my table structure correctly. If I changed my declaration to be as below, the method/function work! However I don't want to do this as I use field symbols to reference my internal tables and need to use the TYPE statement.
    DATA: begin of ty_hierarchy,
                   control_id(6)   type c,
                   node_id(10)     type c,
                   node_name       type bezei40,
                   material        type matnr,
                   node_level      type prodh_stuf,
                   node_parent(10) type c,
                end of ty_hierarchy.
    DATA: begin of it_hierarchy occurs 0.
                 include structure ty_hierarchy
    DATA: end of it_hierarchy.
    Does anyone know on how I can determine my  internal table structure dynamically but still keeping my internal table declarations using TYPE statement?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated with reward points .....
    Thanks
    Liam

    Hello Liam
    Both the ABAP-OO as well as the FM-based approach described by Eswar work well with your way of defining the itabs. I described three different ways how to get the structure of your itab dynamically:

    You can not add new fields to a statically defined internal table, instead you must create the entrie internal table at runtime.
    Search this forum for Dynamic Internal tables, you will get a lot of example programs.

  • How to fetch the data to the internal table with out using mandt

    Hi all,
    Iam giving my code please observer... and give me the reasonable solution.
      t_mar LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF z_mar.
    SELECT  mandt
             werks                         " Plant
             lifnr                         " Vendor
        FROM z_mar
        INTO TABLE t_mar
    where sal = 2000.
    By removing MANDT from select query, it is going to dump.
    ex:
       SELECT
              werks                         " Plant
              lifnr                         " Vendor
         FROM z_mar
         INTO TABLE t_mar
    where sal = 2000.
    > Now it is going to dump ( here i removed the mandt field ).
    Please give me a solution to fetch the data by removing mandt in select statement, with out chaning the internal table structure.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    hi Ravi,
    i also had to avoid move-corresponding and the following is what i did...its extra work and goes around but it will
    do the needed work..............
    t_mar LIKE STANDARD TABLE OF z_mar.
    SELECT *
    FROM z_mar
    INTO TABLE t_mar
    where sal = 2000.
    the above gets you all the fields ...but if you still want to narrow it down to just two fields
    *****Declaring structure with 2 fields
    data:begin of fs_data.
    data:werks type z_mar-werks,
         lifnr type z_mar-lifnr ,
    data:end of fs_data.
    *******internal table of above
    data:int_data like fs_data occurs 0 with headerline.
    *****moving the only 2 required fields
    loop at t_mar.
    t_mar-werks  = int_data-werks.
    t_mar-lifnr  = int_data-lifnr.
    append int_data.
    endloop.
    Hope you found it useful...

  • How to Pass the internal table data?

    DearAll,
    How to pass the Data of one internal table on a 1.html page to another html page for output, in BSP Application.
    regards.

    Hi ,
    In the onInputProcessing event of the first page , write the following code...
    call method NAVIGATION->SET_PARAMETER exporting
        name = 'it_filt_cur'
        value = it_filt_cur.
    Here it_filt_cur is internal table.
              NAVIGATION->GOTO_PAGE('next.htm').
    In the next page , you can make the internal table as auto in the attributes.
    Since you have made the itab as auto transfer , you can directly access the itab in the initialization event of the next page if it is stateless.

  • Dynamic internal table ( make one internal table parts of the record )

    hello i am doing a program that look for document billing put it in a internal table then loop the internal table and use the FM SD_DOCUMENT_FLOW_GET for get the document flow that fm return a table and i need make every record of that table part of the currect register , i already do this in a ugly static way but i am looking a dynamic way of do this , i know that the ABAP OO is the way but i am no able to get this approarch ( i am noob in abap and any experience with OO programing )
    i will show the code for better understanding of it

    thanks all for the answer , but i will try explain better my problem :
    i have a it_data interntal table with document bill record i do a loop to that table and used the vbeln field in the FM for get the docment flow of that document billing number now the output of the FM is a table and i need take each record of that table am make it part of the current record of it_Data.
    Example:
    it_Data without the it_docflow data
    *Sales ORg*   *Distri.Channel*      *Billing Type*    *Payer*         *Sold-to-party*        vbeln*
    TP01         C1                     ZT17           1000524     1000524                 85003435 ..........
    it_docflow table ( FM Output ):
    *DOCNUM     ITEMNU    DOCNUV    ITEMNU            Description*
    53107842   000000                          000000         Standard Order

    5200003681 000000     85003435   000000       Accounting Doc.
    now the it_docflow data add in the it_data record:
    53107842  Standard Order  65004606 Outbound Delivery 75179356  Invoice  57000118 Returns  85003435 Credit for Returns 5200003681 Accounting Doc   TP01         C1                     ZT17           1000524     1000524                 85003435 .........

  • Create dynamic internal table with dynamic structure

    I have an internal table itab1 that have 12 amount fields from period1 thru period12.  I need to create a dynamic table with dynamic structure for the  period column if the total amount of each column  is > 0.  Any idea on how to do that?
    For example if my itab1 has 20 rows and the sum of period1 = 35, sum of period2 = 0, sum of period3 = 5, sum of period4 =0, sum of period5 = 2 then I need to create a dynamic structure for the field column that have the total > 0, i.e  structure struct1 have field period1, period3 and period5 only.  Then I will need to load the data to itab2 from itab1.  Can someone help.

  • Dynamic internal table structure

    pl. give the solution to create dynamically internal table structure with respective of different table.

    Hi and welcome to the SDN,
    this topic is more related to abap, but anyway:
    data: l_tabname(30) type c value 'MARA',
          ref_data type ref to data.
    field-symbols: <fs_tab> type table.
    create data ref_data type standard table of (l_tabname).
    assign ref_data->* to <fs_tab>.
    Now <fs_tab> is a internal table with structure of table mara.
    Hope this helps!
    regards
    Siggi

  • Pass the internal table with different structures to the class module

    Hi ,
    I have created a class method to fill up the data in XML format. the method can be called from various programs with internal table with different structures. I want to pass it as dynamic How can I do that.
    I tried to declare that as type any.
    but not working.
    regards,
    Madhuri

    Hi,
    You could work with data reference.
    Use GET REFERENCE OF itab INTO data_ref for passing the internal table to your method, and dereference it within the method with ASSIGN statement...
    DATA: lr_data TYPE REF TO data.
    GET REFERENCE OF itab INTO lr_data.
    CALL METHOD meth EXPORTING pr_data = lr_data.
    METHOD meth.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS <fs> TYPE ANY TABLE
      ASSIGN pr_data->* TO <fs>.
    ENDMETHOD.
    Kr,
    Manu.

    Hi,
    You can try using truncate statement in native sql.
    EXEC SQL.
    TRUNCATE TABLE ABC.
    ENDEXEC.

  • Getting dynamically the internal table type

    Hello all,
    is there a standard function to get the internal table type name.like if a internal table is based on sflight,by using the function i pass the internal table and get the type sflight.
    regards
    kaushik

    for this we have the CL_ABAP_TYPEDESCR class, subclasses and all of their methods.
    Coding should look something like this:
    DATA: dref TYPE REF TO data.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <table> TYPE STANDARD TABLE,
                   <line>  TYPE ANY.
    DATA: lr_reference TYPE REF TO cl_abap_typedescr.
    DATA: lr_tab       TYPE REF TO cl_abap_tabledescr.
    DATA: lr_data      TYPE REF TO cl_abap_datadescr.
    PARAMETERS: pa_tab TYPE tabname DEFAULT 'BUT000'.
    CREATE DATA dref TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF (pa_tab).
    ASSIGN dref->* TO <table>.
    SELECT * FROM but000 INTO TABLE <table>
             UP TO 10 ROWS.
    CALL METHOD cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_data
      EXPORTING
        p_data      = <table>
      RECEIVING
        p_descr_ref = lr_reference.
    lr_tab ?= lr_reference.
    lr_data = lr_tab->get_table_line_type( ).
    WRITE lr_data->absolute_name.

  • INSERT works for only last record of the Internal table ...??

    I am trying to insert data from an internal table JTAB to a Databse Table
    in CRM. The name of the databse table in CRM is CRMD_PARTNER
    For this i first declared an internal table JTAB with same structure as that of
    the databse table CRMD_PARTNER
    DATA: BEGIN OF JTAB OCCURS 0,
         INCLUDE STRUCTURE CRMD_PARTNER,
          END OF JTAB.
    Then I filled my JTAB with the required entries. For filling the JTAB i am
    getting data from couple of other tables and filling the internal table JTAB
         loop at ktab.
    here i am filling values in JTAB and then i say APPEND JTAB.
            endloop.
         Till here every thing works well and my internal table JTAB has all values that
    I need to insert to the CRMD_PARTNER table. Also my JTAB has vales for all primary key fields.
    Now I write a condition like below.
    if not jtab[] inital.
    MODIFY CRMD_PARTNER from TABLE JTAB.
    COMMIT WORK.
    endif.
    Here comes the problem...once this code is executed and once program totally executes...
    i always see that only last record in JTAB is being inserted to the databse table CRMD_PARTNER.
    When i check in the debugger ..i see that the loop is being executed only once
    and the SY-TABIX of JTAB is being always set to the length of JTAB and
    that is why only last  record is being inseretd to the table CRMD_PARTNER.
    Now what should i do ..to insert all records of JTAB to CRMD_PARTNER table?
    is there a way i can restet the SY-TABIX and make the modify statement work for all records of JTAB?
    Finally i hardcoded the values in JTAB then i dont have any problem and all records of JTAB are being
    inserted into the database table.
    only if i am dynamically fetching the values into JTAB(by Putting in loop..endloop statements and
    pushing values to JTAB and APPENDING JTAB ) i have a problem .
    in this case also my JTAB is being correctly filled with values ..but when i try to
    insert theses values to CRMD_PARTNER with MODIFY stmt ..only always last record is being inserted.
    i tried with INSERT instead of MODIFY and i am getting runtime error.
    kindly pease help.

    yes a@s i am really struggling from last 3 days.
    I actually want to create a sales order in CRM and want to
    assign ship to party for each line item in a sales order in CRM
    for that i used the standard bapi BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CREATEMULTI and i am able
    to create an order successfully, but i see that the ship toparty
    that i give at header is being copied to each line item.
    but this is not what is expected.
    So finally i tracked in which table the ship to party gets stored in each line item
    and then tried to insert the records directly into databse. and it worked
    but only if i am hardcoding..but not when i am dynamically fecthing the values into JTAB for insertion,
    Can yoy help ..if you have any idea why insert/modify is processing only last record?
    any help will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jessica Sam
