Need to make this file smaller!

I'm a musician looking to put my tracks on myspace. The maximum file size for myspace is 6mb, and my export to iTunes is 72mb! What can I do?

shippo,
When you reference "50 fps", do you happen to know if that's fields per second or frames per second?  Depending on the answer to that, you may or may not need to adjust that.
When it comes to file size, you have frame rate, frame size, compression type and data transfer rate affecting the final size.
As Russ and darby have suggested, data transfer rate is the main thing to experiment with (since you're publishing for Vimeo, the other setting are pretty much locked in).
I have found that when it comes to playing with the bit rate, a video with a 1280 by 720 frame size needs between 4,000 kilobits per second and 5,000 kilobits per second to maintian good image quality.  While you might get good results at a lower rate, high contrast areas in the picture are very, very, very likely to show loss of image quality.
If you need to get your video up asap, start the upload late at night.  As long as your internet connection doesn't drop out (knock on wood), you file will be uploaded by the morning.
Also, (for what it's worth) is there any place close by that has fast internet that you could use?  If you have access to a computer lab at a local community college, a 1GB file will probably upload in minutes rather than hours.

  • How can I make this a smaller file?

    Hi,
I was wondering how I can make this movie smaller.
I don't understand why it is so big.
The sound is a .wav that comes in at 596 kb recorded at 22.5
    khz in mono.
The rest must be the video. How can I get this smaller?
    Thanks
The movie is at the link below:

  • How to make pdf file smaller

hi there, i scanned 2 newspaper reports and one is 5.5mb and the other is 4.4mb. yet this takes a while to send, receive and open. can i make the file smaller but still have readable text. i have some magazines on my computer with higher quality and the whole document is 150 pages yet it ads to 25mb. so can i make the file smaller. i am using preview and a canon scanner with the canon software

If it is just text, not pictures, scan to a TIFF file with a depth of 1 bit (black and white, no grey scale). Then use Graphics Converter to save as TIFF with CCITT 4 compression option. I usually get more than 10 to 1 compression with no loss of sharpness.

I have a hitachi hard drive from an old pc. I would like to transfer pics and music to my new macbook air. What cord do I need to make this possible?

Some external cases include cords others (like some printers) consider the cord to be "optional" - read the package or product description. Other World Computing, HH Greg, OfficeMax, any box store or local computer store should have a case for your old drive.
You are fortunate in that the Mac will automagically read the DOS format disk... you'd never be able to connect and old Mac HD to a WinDUHows machine.

You cannot make midi from audio with GB. You'd need a sampler.

  • MPEG Streamclip Or Compressesor (To Make Mov Files Smaller Size)??

Hi there Ive always used MPEG Streamclip after I make mov files with Final Cut Pro to bring the file into MP4 format where its alot smaller (using 300k limit data rate) but for some reason after I make the file with Sony EX1 footage at 1920 x 1080 theres a severe quality loss where the transitions are really pixelated.

If you are converting hi-def using 300kbps I am surprised you can see any video at all!
    Even 3,000 is too slow.
5,000kbps can produce reasonable results but 10,000kbps is safer.
You can export your videos straight from FCP using QT Conversion. No need for any other app.

  • How to make pdf files smaller

Hello, is there a simple way to make a pdf file smaller. E.g. to convert 2Mb file into 100-200Kb file in one or 2 steps?
And is there a program to make it for several files - folder - in one action?

    a. I have Adobe Reader 8.
    b. creation: conversion from Word file, not scan.
I usually create files 2 ways:
    1. 'save as pdf' at work (not sure what a program does it, can`t check today)
    2. I have a PDF Creator installed at home, so I print on 'printer' PDF Creator
    c. content: any. currently mostly pictures, ot text with pictures

  • Does iweb make picture files smaller? how can I do this?

by smaller I mean a smaller file size for optimum website loading?
    thanks

Yes. if you have iWeb's preference set to +optimize images upon import+.
I ran a test with a 2.7 MB jpg file. I optimized it in Photoshop, Save for Web, as a jpg with 40% quality and added to a web page at 300 pixels by 225 pixels. (iWeb's optimize was turned off). After publishing in iWeb and downloading the image it's size was 29 KB.
I then turned on iWeb's optimizing, added the full file, sized at the same pixel dimension which was the default import size for that theme). It's size after publishing and downloading was 33 KB.
I added the same original jpg without iWeb optimizing and it too was only 33 KB after publication. The optimizing didn't have much effect when the file is added and left at the default size that iWeb gives it.
The Photoshop image had a little less contrast and was a little lighted after publishing.
I then used Web Site Maestro to optimize the entire site and upload it. All three image files had been reduced to 12 KB in size.
For photo pages and their slideshows iWeb reduces the files down to 800 x 600 pixels. One set for me started out at about 1.3MB at 3300 pixels x 2550 pixels. The image file used for the slideshow can in around 127 KB online. After running thru Web Site Maestro they were reduced to 66 KB.
Many of my pages have been reduced in size by around 45% with WSM allowing for faster loading.

  • Do I need to archive this file?

    Hello
I have an iMovie file that is approximately 32 GB. I have made a disk image of it in iDVD, and do not think that I will be making any further changes to the file, just burning it from the disk image.
    Questions are:
*Do I need to keep the iMovie file somewhere, or can I just trash it at this point? I cannot archive it to put on my (small 20GB) external HD until I am done with the project because it gives me an error that the disk is full before it finishes archiving it.
*What does this error mean? I should have plenty of space on my hard drive (about 34GB left)for the compressed file.
    Thanks for your help!

A disk image is a stand-alone and is not tied to the iMovie or iDVD project. So, if you are sure that you won't be editing your movie or iDVD project any more, you can just save the disk image and trash everything else. But . . .your movie is running over two hours. If you try to burn it to a standard 2 hour DVD disk, you won't have enough room to do that, unless you use a duel layered disk. Some burners can't burn duel layered disks, so you need to check to make sure that yours can. Before you trash anything, you might consider splitting your movie into two movies of approximately one hour each and burning two separate disk images. That way you would be able to burn onto the standard 2 hour disk.
I don't quite understand your saving question.

  • Possibly corrupt prefs.js file. Need help with this file please.

I've been having a problem with sending/receiving text messages in Yahoo Messenger and I think I've narrowed it to the prefs.js file in Firefox. I'm using Firefox 3.6.25 on Windows XP sp3. The Yahoo Messenger window would not open when the appropriate mobile phone link was clicked. I uninstalled/reinstalled flash without change. I cleared cache, etc., without change. I created a new Firefox profile and I was able to get the Yahoo Messenger window to open. When I copied the prefs.js file from the old profile to the new profile, I encountered the problem again. I opened the prefs.js file with wordpad and noticed that editing should occur in about:config in the currently running Firefox browser. I briefly compared the two about:config tabs from the working profile and the non-working profile. They were significantly different. How do I make a copy of one so that I can paste it into wordpad and make the editing of the other one easier? Where can I find information about the individual parameters and their settings?

    Hi,
    Please see [[http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries this.]
    [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config]
You can try to '''Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults:''' and '''Make Changes and Restart''' in the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Firefox Safe Mode] start screen which would also hopefully solve the issue. You can also try to manually '''Reset''' to defaults the modified entries by right-clicking on the bold entries (user set) in about:config. Clicking on the '''Status''' column header would sort the entries between user set (modified) and the defaults.
An easy way would be to create a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile] and [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy/transfer the needed personal data] from the old profile and start using the new profile. You can then delete or troubleshoot the old proile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder another location (profile folder)] separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory folders/files]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window Options] and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config], and usually would also be empty of '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in '''Tools''' > '''Add-ons''', and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website cache/cookies/data/preferences: '''Tools''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History '''Clear Recent History'''].

  • Split project? to make the file smaller?

    Hi
We have just started to use Captivate and we want to use voice and video caption
But we are a bit affraid that the file size will be a problem for or network /Lines
Will it be a problem do you think?
And if it will - how can we split them so that we can sew them together in ONE mother file so the user will have the same FEELING that they would had?
We are using Citrix in our nettwork

What bandwidth will each user have over your Citrix link?  You cannot get an answer your question without this information.
A typical Captivate published project with voiceover audio, text, images, but no video will weigh in at somewhere between 500kb-1meg per minute of delivered content.  If your Citrix link is not going to be big enough to deliver that to each individual user, then you may be in trouble.
Most CITRIX networks I've encountered do not allow audio in order to conserve bandwidth.  Have you checked whether your particular network has audio enabled or disabled?

You cannot run Mac OS X on a Windows machine. You need a Mac to run Mac OS.
Macs can run Windows, but Windows PCs cannot run Mac OS.
