Need to move 1 (out 3) family plan lines to an individual plan and keep employer discount intact

I've tried to find this answer via search but it seems everyone's scenario is a bit different, so I'm asking here in hope's a kind soul can give me a good answer in hopes I can accomplish this without having to go into a store.
We have a 3 line family plan currently that is being discounted via my employer. I'm getting a divorce, which means I need to break out my phone line separately and no longer be a part of that family plan (she'll continue to pay for her line and the 2nd line). Issues I'm curious on:
I want to keep my number. Can I?
Will the current family plan continue to get the discount? Will I also be eligible to keep my employer's discount on a new single line plan?
Will we be in violation of contract and have to pay ETFs if I move my line to this separate billable solution?
Any other unforeseen issues with trying to do this? I need to be 100% separated from this current account and assured I will have service, etc. if she suddenly wants to cancel her service, move carriers, etc.
Thanks very, very much for trying to help me in this chaotic time.

Assumption of Liability
Sounds like you are the account owner. It would be best to do the Assumption of Liability process to split off the other two lines into a new account under your soon to be ex-wife's name. Depending on her credit, she might have to pay a deposit. Once those lines are removed from your account, your line changes to an individual plan. The employee discount should hopefully remain, but the amount discounted might go down. If the discount doesn't stay, you can always reapply for the discount to be added to your line as the account owner.

Hey there, SaintBreesy09! I'm very sorry to hear of the changes in your personal life. May these adjustments lead to happier days for all involved!
Thanks for reaching out about you account needs. I have answers to all of the questions you've posted!
    1. Yes, you can keep your current number. The way I read your post, the account you have now appears to be in your name. Therefore, you can create a second bill level whereby the bills from the original bill level (account number ending in -00001) would continue to go to the original billing address, while your line goes to the second level (account number ending in -00001). Both bill levels would remain in your name, and you have the option to continue getting your employee discount (can't be confirmed until we see what the terms are for your specific discount agreement). If you don't own the current account, you can move your line to a new or existing account via a process called Assumption of Liability. Details on that are here: http://vz.to/1aqrvX0
    2. Yes, the discount may continue as long as the account ownership doesn't change, and as long as the agreement between Verizon Wireless and the employer remains in effect.
    3. No violation. No ETF. As long as all lines remain with Verizon Wireless, you're golden!
    4. The only possible issues you may encounter are monthly service charges. With all lines sharing the plan now, that's possibly lower than it would be to separate them. It really depends on the plan you have now. I recommend reviewing the plan itself. If you need help with that, you can call Customer Care at 800-922-0204 from 6am to 11pm daily, or I can help you directly.

  • Is it possible to split a number off family plan and start separate account?

is it possible to split a number off family plan and start separate account?

I was just coming to check how to do this.
I added my mom and step dad to my account now want them off. I pay the majority of the bill and it's getting expensive. Just found out my mom get's a big discount through her work. 26% of bill, $50 dollars off of Smartphones, plus her company will reimburse her $65 a month towards her bill. Can't believe I've been paying all this time.

The photos are on the ipod.  Photo sync will erase them.  I need a way to extract them from the ipod, or to.extract them from the ipod backup that is who knows where on my PC.
I've been searching for an app to do that with no luck.  They all seem to want a newer OS than is on my ipod yet I have the most recent update installed.

  • What is the process for transferring 2 lines from separate family plans and joining them in their own share plan?

I am part of a family plan (not the owner) and my boyfriend is part of a family plan, also not the owner of it.  We would like to transfer both of our phones out of our family plans and do our own share plan together. What is the process for this??

Have each of the account owners contact Verizon to let them know that you will be doing an AOL on your lines. Then you call Verizon and explain what you want to do. Just that easy. But understand you'll have to get the new Share everything plan.

  • Not Allowed to upgrade to Family Plan and get Iphone?

I have a single line right now, and I attempted to go through my account and "upgrade to a family plan," but when I get to the page where you select the new phone for your second line.  The Iphone is nowhere to be found!  It allows me to process any other phone with the upgrade to a Family Plan, except the Iphone.  When you click the link on the front page to "buy it" it takes you to a whole new set up that only allows you to add an additional line, but no option to add it to a family plan.  Is verizon not allowing upgrades to family plans and adding a line with the Iphone?  Or will I have to brave the store lines to get this done?

I would go to a store, I think it's just where they have the iphone in a link by itself right now instead of with all the other phones, I would almost be sure you can do this in store without a problem at all. Some people are saying there are actually no lines at stores they've been at so you may get lucky and not have a line at your local verizon store.

Have downloaded a .epub file from a third party publisher to my pc. Publisher advises that  iTunes is needed to move the file to my iPad. iTunes installed on  both pc and iPad. What's next?

Drag or copy the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder in your library (default location C:\Users\user_name\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media), or add it manually using File > Add File to Library ...  If the file is compatible with iTunes it'll be added to your library and can then be synced with your iPad.

I want to move the location of my iTunes library music files. At present they are all on my time machine . I want to move them all to my imac. Can I do that and keep all my playlists and play counts? Thanks in advance
its 1000s of songs . Originally I used the time machine as a networked drive but it can cause the songs to pause so I'm thinking it would be better to have the songs on the internal imac drive
how can I move the songs so I can re-open iTunes and the playlists (with plays in the 100s) find the song in the new place?

Do you mean on your Time Machine backup drive? Or are you actually accessing the backup? In either case you shouldn't be doing that. If you haven't space on your HDD to store the iTunes Library, then at least put it on another external drive.
Since you did not provide any information about what's actually "on my time machine," here's what you would do. The entire iTunes folder should be stored in the /Home/Music/ folder. Within that folder you would have three folders: imm Media, iTunes, and iTunes Playlists.

  • Do I still need to pay full amount of family plan payment during suspending one of member's line?

I am currently in family plan with two other lines.
Our monthly access charge is $129.96.
Now, one of members will go to Asia for three months and want to suspend her line.
My question is, will we still need to pay full amount of monthly access charges during one of lines is suspended for three months? Or Can we get discounted?
Thank u so much for your help!

Good afternoon!  Thank you vereyezuhn for your responses!  That is correct that you have the option to suspend with or without billing, and you contract, as well as your upgrade eligibility may be extended.
    A few things to clarify...
If you suspend via My Verizon or the IVR, (Interactive Voice Response), you will not be charged the $15.00 processing fee.
If you go into a store or call Customer Service for your service to be suspended, you will be charged a $15.00 processing fee, whether you suspend with out without billing.
If you suspend with billing, your usage and allowance will not be prorated, your contract end date and upgrade date will not be extended.
If you suspend without billing, all of your features will be suspended and not be charged, your usage and allowance will be prorated when suspended and restored.  Your contract end date, upgrade eligibility, (and security deposit) will be extended by the amount of time the account is suspended without billing.
As vereyezuhn mentioned, your line can be suspended up to 90 days.
I trust this information is helpful.
    Thank you,

  • Drop an "out of contract" line from family plan, but keep the number

I have a family plan with 4 numbers. One of the numbers (let's call it line#1) is out of contract, so I can drop it without penalty. However, this is my daughter's number and I really don't want it to change. Another of the numbers (line#2) is still under contract, but it is a phone number I don't need any more. Verizon will not let me "swap" these numbers and keep line#1 while dropping line#2 -- unless I pay the termination fee on line#2. So, I'm wondering if this will work:
    1. Port line#1 TO Google Voice (paying $20 to do so). This will cancel the Verizon contract for line#1.
    2. Activate my daughter's phone with line#2, and configure GV to forward calls/texts from line#1 to line#2.
    3. Wait a few days for things to stabilize.
    4. Port line#1 FROM Google Voice back TO Verizon, replacing the line#2 phone number.
At the end of this process, I will have effectively dropped the Verizon contract for line #1, have line#1 take over the contract formerly owned by line#2, and removed line#2 from my Verizon account. This is exactly what I explained to 3 different Verizon people, both over the phone and in a store -- and they claim that they can't do it because "the phone number is tied to the contract". They won't let me "swap" or "port" a number within my account, but they will let me replace the phone number on a currently active contract with an external number that gets ported in to Verizon. So, I need to port line#1 OUT of Verizon (paying Google $20 to do this) and then turn around and port it back IN to Verizon, replacing the line#2 phone number I no longer need. I don't see a reason why this will not work, unless Verizon has some self-serving rule about not porting in a number that was recently ported out. (Is there a "waiting period" involved here?) It's idiotic to me that Verizon would rather have me give $20 to Google to port a number out and back in rather than allow me to swap phone numbers on my Verizon account.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks, 21stNow and Brian68.
Understood. I use Google Voice as my primary number now, but my daughter would prefer not to mess with it. She wants HER number (line#1) to show up on outgoing calls/texts using the native dialer/messaging apps. She has an iPhone, and I'm an Android guy, so I don't know how well GV integrates with the iPhone's native dialer/messaging apps. (On my Android, my GV number shows up on outgoing calls from the native dialer by choosing to "Use Google Voice to make all calls" in the GV app. I suspect this would be the same on the iPhone. However, texts sent using the native messaging app (not GV) come from my actual cell number -- even if I change the "Callback" number to my GV number.) I suppose I could train her to use GV for messaging, but GV does not handle MMS or group texts -- it just ignores them! I don't care about this, but my 20 year old daughter does!
Regarding being unable to port the number back into Verizon, is this a restriction because it is a former Verizon number? As I understand it, I can log into MyVerizon and choose to "Change Mobile Number" on one of my active contracted lines. There is an option to port in a number to replace the number currently on that line. Other threads suggest that porting from Google Voice works the same as a landline port. Has anyone tried this and had success/failure?

  • I want to get off my family plan and start a new single-line plan.

(I'm not sure if this is posted in the right place, forgive me if it is)
Here's my issue. I'm currently a secondary line under my dad's line for Verizon. Now, I love verizon, and I want to keep them as my service provider and keep my phone number. But, my dad has not had a job for almost a year and does not pay the cell phone bill on time, to the point where I can't even get on My Verizon and edit our plan or anything. I also no longer get along with my dad and will be moving out soon. I cannot give him half of the phone bill which I would so willingly pay, because any money he receives, no matter what it's purpose, he spends on cigarettes and lotto. So quite frankly, I'm afraid of losing my phone service because of him.
I want my own SINGLE line. I am perfectly able to pay my bill on time (I've already checked out possible plans). I need to break off of my dad's family plan. Please help.

    This thread should help.

  • What if my phone is on a family plan and I get the iphone

Would I have to disconnect my extra line from the family plan if I get the iphone? what does the EMAIL & WEB -SMARTPHONE $29.99 included? How much data do I get to use a month before getting over charges? I have a internet wireless card that makes a hot spot does that mean I wouldn't need a internet package for the iphone?

    whoyaboo wrote:
Would I have to disconnect my extra line from the family plan if I get the iphone? No, you can use an iPhone with your current line, but I'm not really sure what you're asking here.  Did you add an extra line to the Family Plan to buy the iPhone at the upgrade price? what does the EMAIL & WEB -SMARTPHONE $29.99 included? This includes unlimited 3G data access and Verizon's e-mail program, you can also use the e-mail program included with the iPhone, or a web-based interface. How much data do I get to use a month before getting over charges? The $29.99 package is truly unlimited, use as much data as you like! I have a internet wireless card that makes a hot spot does that mean I wouldn't need a internet package for the iphone? You CAN connect your iPhone via the hotspot over WiFi, but I don't think you would want to.  The data speed will probably be the same, and the package inlcuded with your iPhone is unlimited (where the hotspot has a limit).  Regardless, you MUST have the $29.99 package on any line the iPhone is active on.

  • Want to get off family plan and go to individual plan

I am on a family plan with an edge agreement and for personal reasons would like to be on my own. My contract is up in June of this year. What are the steps to doing so? If I do it before June, how much will it cost me? Thanks for the help!!

    Jnny2581,
Being able to establish your own account is always nice to be able to do. Since you are on our Edge program, you will have to complete that agreement before you are able to make this change. Assuming, you want to keep your number that is.

  • Trying to figure out my game plan, and Cap1, you so silly.

That's good to know that upgrading to a WMC will get rid of the AF for me - so I should definitely combine to the lower APR card in that case.   Watch them decline the upgrade even after the card has an 8k limit.  Pft!

I currently have three cards with Cap1, and I'm trying to break the 5k barrier so I can have access to higher tier cards.  (limits 3k, 3.5k and 4.5k) I'm waiting on an EO decision to see if I can have the 4.5k card bumped by just $500 so I can upgrade it from a Platinum Mastercard to a World (or World Elite) Mastercard.  That was last Thursday though, so I'm thinking they denied it since my account still looks the same.  Boo.   I DO finally have the option of combining accounts, so I'm hoping if I combine my 3.5 and 4.5 into an 8k card that they'll approve the upgrade as a result of that.  I just need to decide which card - one has a $39 fee and a 22% APR, and the other has a $19 fee and a 24% APR.  I never carry a balance so the APRs don't matter as much at the moment - and I know I can get the fees waived...  might be better to keep the lower APR card though, even with the higher fee attached. I'm hoping that the new 8k limit might help me land higher limits on new approvals after this.  I'm regretting applying for the Venture One now since it only gave me a 3k limit...  but I know that will grow with time, especially since I've already pumped $1000 into it within the two weeks I've had it.  : P Citi sent me a Pre-Selected mailer offering a 15.24% APR and had the prescreen/optout information - but I think I've decided not to bother with it.  I know even with the specific APR mentioned it isn't a guarantee - though it's awfully enticing to get in with someone besides Cap1 at possibly a decent APR.  I can't get BoA to budge on my 1.5k limit with them, and I'm not risking another HP to try again.  (I tried back in January-ish) I'm also thinking about applying for an Amazon Prime Store Card - but only because I have a $500+ purchase planned and wouldn't mind the 5% off +$10 giftcard.  I'd be paying the $500 off immediately.  I'm not trying for the Chase version at all since I was denied for it back in January.  (I've gained new cards and history since then, better scores too, but still won't risk it.)  I know they're backed by Synchrony, and I'm getting mailers from Synchrony backed cards lately, so I think they might be open to approving me. I'm also interested in the Discover It for the rotating 5% categories, and of course my own Amex one day.  (I'm an AU on one now.)  I'm thinking I should probably wait six months first for the Discover, and maybe 12 for the Amex?  I have about 4-5 inquiries on each of the bureaus at the moment. It's so hard to be patient and try to make the best decisions!  I'd like to buy a house in about two years after my last baddie falls off, so I know that limits me as far as trying to apply for cards in the future as well.  I'm trying to build up from now until then to get the best mortgage rate I can. I feel like a child that is being so good, and I'm dying for my parents to notice and reward me for it...  hahahaha.
