Need to move lightroom 3 to another computer

I purchased a full version of lightroom and downloaded it from Adobe's web page. I now need to move the full version to a new computer and delete it from the old one. Can anyone please provide instructions on how to move a downloaded version.

Just download another copy. It's the serial number you need and this will be valid for as many installations as you wish to make, no need for activation. Under the license that you purchase you can only have LR installed on two machines at any one time, so you don't need to remove your original instillation. You can only use one copy at a time. This allows you to have an instillation on a laptop and desktop or at home and work or however you choose.
To copy your catalog over just copy the lrcat file.

I need to move settings from one computer to another

Hello All,
After a computer failure, I need to move the DW CS4 settings (this may not be the best term to use, but bear with) from the dead computer's hard drive (drive works fine) to another machine.
Specifically, all the settings in Site Manager...I really don't want to enter all that in manually, as I have over a dozen sites to maintain.
Is there a way to do this? Copy a certain folder or folders, or a utility in DW?
I have a 2-bay e-sata drive dock attached to the second computer so I can access the files no problem.

Bregent is correct about WIndows.
What I was stating is that if this is the original drive from the other computer it is a bootable drive. What you would normally do in this instance is tell the OS that you want to boot from the remote drive and not your C:/ drive in the working computer. On a Mac this can be done by holding down the option key on a restart ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1310 ). Then you are prompted to select the disk you want to boot. I believe Windows has a similar feature usually using the F keys on startup. Another way to think of the booting from other drives is that normally the BIOS will look in the USB or CD drive before looking at your hard drive to boot in case you were doing an OS upgrade. Otherwise, when you restarted, it would ignore the CD/USB installation and go straight to the hard drive.
If you are on a Mac I know the files are in the Library somewhere, but I don't know the exact filename and I can't find a KB article pointing to what you should be looking for. But if you are doing this I would be selective and only look for the Adobe and Dreamweaver files and nothing else.

Need to move music from one computer to another

Wondering how to move my music from one computer to another. My laptop is being replaced and need to move all my iTunes items from here to a desktop. What is the best/most cost effective way to do this? TY

It is very easy. First get something to transfer your itunes file to the laptop (network$, thumb drive$$ (depending the size), external hard drive$$$ with cost of drive and plus a case it can be costly). Those are in order of slowness! After all those files are on the desktop download itunes. DO NOT download itunes first you will be begging for trouble. Open itunes and it will take a few seconds and it should find the file on it's own. Now all you need to do is sign into itunes agree to all the fun stuff and there you go. I did mine with an external Sata hard drive via esata and it could not of been easier. To find the file you need go into music/my music and find the big file named itunes. just copy and past and let er rip.

Is there any way to package a project to move it to another computer?

I've got FCE4 projects on one computer but I need to be able to open and work on them on my MBP as well. Currently, I've got the projects in Dropbox, but when I open them, the source media files all need to be reconnected.
I guess I could painstakingly hunt for them all one by one. Any file I have imported into FCE I keep in the same folder, but files created by iMovie and FCE [like sequence files] I have no idea where they are.
Is there any way to package the project, like you can in InDesign? That software packages all related files into 1 folder so you always have them.

I am using an external scratch disk, but there's not a lot in each project's folder. I need a way to pull everything a project uses and place it in 1 folder so I can move it to another machine. I have everything I've imported...it's just links to iMovie files [I exported rough cuts to xml, then imported into FCE4. I'm not sure why FCE4 is looking for the original iMovie file...] and sequence files that I need to be able to find.
I was really hoping for some kind of automated function, like packaging in InDesign...

Just download the trial (assuming you really do mean download and not "install"), install it and enter your serial number. Save the download file for future use, because there will probably be a new version soon and then there won't be any way to download PSE 11 anymore.

What are you trying to sync. The iPhone is designed to sync with a single computer and any attempt to sync to another one will result in the data on the phone being deleted.

Mavericks move mail to another computer?

Hi all,
I'm having a lot of serious problems with my laptop, so I want to take it in to the genius bar. Past experience suggests that they'll want to keep the computer for at least 7-10 days, so I've borrowed a similar laptop that a coworker doesn't use much. I've created an admin user for myself on it. I can get by without a lot of my software for a week, but not without Mail. I'd like to move at least the contents of my mail folder and my mail preferences to the borrowed machine. I believe I'll have to do this through an external hard drive, since my Time Machine backup is one of the things that is not working. The problem is that I don't know what files and folders to copy in Mavericks in order to move Mail. I found some info about earlier versions of the operating system but can't find the indicated folders on my laptop.
Does anyone know what I would need to move in order to have Mail function on the borrowed machine, that I could then move back if and when my own machine can be fixed?

Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Copy the Mail folder.

I have my music library in a folder on an external hard drive, my movies are in another folder and my iTunes folder is in yet another folder on the same external hard drive. I am moving everything to another hard drive. How does one accomplish this in this instance? I know I can move the iTunes folder but that assumes that all my media is within that folder. How do I move everything without beguiling iTunes?

You must mean the serial number. If you registered CS5, it will be under the account that you registered your product.
If you did not register your product, and you do not have the original CD and box it came on, you took a big gamble.

then open pse 11 and click help>deactivate. you can then uninstall.
then download the trial onto your new computer and activate using your serial number.

if you have a download problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps. typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem, but your browser must also allow cookies so that's (a restrictive browser setting) another potential source of problems.

Unfortunately, your Lr catalogue is stored on the original Mac, so just logging into your account would not work. As a Windows user in your situation, and if the need for speed was essential, I would remove the hard drive from the malfunctioning PCI and connect it to a working example and try to access the catalogue from an installation of Lr on that one. Is that at all possible with your Mac setup?
Edit: do you have separate backups of your catalogue, in the cloud for instance, but can the catalogue held there be installed on a different Mac? I 've no idea if this is possible, but if you're a professional facing a deadline etc, it might be worthwhile investigating this possibility if it's impossible to move the hard drive as I suggested above.

Migrating Lightroom to another computer

Hello: I just got a new computer and I imagine that there must be a way to migrate all of the Lightroom 'stuff' over. My old computer used XP while the new one is Windows 7 which is initially a bit confusing. The old HD is temporarily connected to the new computer while I migrate other folders. Perhaps one just migrates the image folders and starts from scratch - sounds like a terrible idea!
Am I allowed a second question? Can I just download the trial version of Lightroom then insert my key to make it 'legitimate'?
