Need to move my old btinternet email to my new bti...

Hi,
Newbie here! I have a btinternet email address that I use that actually belongs to my (ex) partners bt account. Now we have split, I have my own btinternet account and would like to move my old email address from my partner's account to mine. He is happy for this to happen - we just don't know how to do it. Any ideas?
Many Thanks,

• I need to move my old hard drive files to our new computer, how?

Hey I need to move my old hard drive files to our new computer. It is a SATA 3.5. Is it as simple as putting it in an enclosure and plugging it to new computer.
Can I do this at the start with the IMAC? I don't have the old computer, just the drive.

To go from PPC to intel the use of migration assistant is not the recommendation. The definitive solution is here from Kappy and a brody.

• My iCloud mail is used in my old apple id, how can i move my old iCloud mail to my new apple id

my iCloud mail is used in my old apple id, how can i move my old iCloud mail to my new apple id

If the old ID is yours, and if it is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

• Integrate old BT email address with new account?

Hi,
This is my first post on the forum, so apologies if I'm in the wrong section.
I've just returned to BT as a broadband provider after an absence of several years. During this time, I have maintained my old BT Yahoo email address, and it's much more memorable than the addresses available to me these days.
Please could a member of BT staff let me know if it's possible to attach my old BT email to my new account?
Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Hi, I need help!. I will change my iphone and I need to move contacts from one iPhone to the new, what should I do?

You should have been syncing your contact with your computer all along. Just sync them from the computer to the new iphone.

• Why cannot I access my old verizon email on my new Firefox

Switched from Internet Explorer to Mozilla Firefox today. Now I cannot access my old "saved" email on my Verizon account. The number of emails shows as a greyed-out number, but I am unable to access those old messages.

Firefox is not an email client, and it has nothing to do with your Verizon account. When you click on a mailto: link, the browser selects a program to open it based on perhaps what it can find when it is installed, but also what you set it to. I gave instructions for doing that [[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1024658|here]].
Whatever you were using for mail, (e.g. Outlook) can be started without starting a browser. There is an outside chance that M$ has unintentionally or intentionally made Outlook not work as a result of no longer making IE your default browser. More likely, Firefox is now opening a different email program that works differently. You can open IE again, and find out what email program it was using by starting it. Help | About is a common place to find out what it is. Close it all out, and follow the instructions at the link above to set the email program. There is also a possibility that something has gone wrong with the mail storage files(s)/folder(s) on your computer, in which case you may need to 1) reinstall the mail program, 2) get an expert to fiddle with it, e.g. by setting permissions, 3) format your HD and reinstall windows. Although it is rare, saved emails can be stored on a server; in which case you will need to contact Verizon to help fix the problem. In this case, it seems very unlikely to be Mozilla's fault. Warning: one time I uninstalled IE, only to find I needed it later for web development. Win7 absolutely refused to reinstall it later, and I had to reformat and reinstall windows in order to get it to work again. Uninstalling IE is a step you probably don't want to take, unless you are sure you never want to use it until you reinstall it or get a new computer.

• How to move an old iTunes folder into a new user account?

Hi there, so I have a 98Gb iTunes library and it was sitting on an older version of an iMac (2006 OSX 10.6.8 iTunes 11.4). Realised it would be cumbersome to transfer to my newer iMac (2014 - OSX 10.9.5 iTunes 12.1.2.27) so I used the migration assistant to transfer everything across. Only problem is now I have 2 user accounts for myself on the new iMac and all I want to do is consolidate my iTunes library into one, but am struggling to move the iTunes folder directly into the newer user account on the new iMac. I keep getting a "you do not have permission to move this". I've tried both passwords to each account but still it won't move the folder. Any suggestions or directions would be greatly appreciated.

Were you saying that you have two user accounts (one one the old Mac and one on the new Mac) or two Apple IDs with your music?
Read the original post. The user used Migration Assistant to copy files from an old computer to a new one. This creates a new computer account with the old content. The user then had two accounts on the new computer with content the user wished to merge.

• I need to switch my old Apple ID to my new Apple ID

OK, long story short...
When iCloud came out and the iOS for the iPhone I signed in using a new "desired" email address, the one associated with this query.
-- No error or warning was given at the time that there could or would be a conflict with the old Apple ID, the old Dot Mac now Mobile Me one.
I cannot photo stream on my computer becasue the Apple ID associated with it is the old one. My Mac Mail works with both, for the time being. Since I have archived all the old emails for the old ID there is no problem not using it, other than some notifications on my end.
While it would be nice to have the old stuff merged into the new, I was told late last year, that there was no way then, and that possibly they were going to do something since I was not unique in this issue.
Does anyone know of a way to change the computer's use to the new Apple ID so I can take advantage of the new iCloud stuff fully?
Thanks

Thank you, previously I was uncertain that old stuff and new would be preserved, it appears to have been so.

• I need to get my old calendar data into my new calendar on my new MacBook Pro without erasing what is in there now, anyone know how to do it?

I do not have access to my old computer (can boot in safe mode, other wise nothing on the screen, even with an external monitor) to export the old calendars. I have the old calendar files on my new computer. The titles of the old calendars are in the sidebar of the new calendar app but none of the old events are there. I must not have set up correctly initially. I was using OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 previously and now use Yosemite 10.10.2 both computers are Mac Book Pros, the new one is the mid 2014 15" Retina.

Hi Linc, I started setting up my new computer a few months ago so don't remember the details. I did not use migration assistant, nor do I wish to, I believe it was set up through icloud. Now that I needed my calendar while doing taxes I discover there are no events for 2014 and earlier (except 2 oddly enough). I do remember that iCloud instructions were not clear as to what would happen in the choices it gave.
I copied my old user files over from my external back up after my old computer stopped working, was hoping I could put ical folders in the right place to be used by Calendar or import somehow.

• Moving old BT email address to new BT account

I have an 'old' BT email address from years ago which I am currently being charged £1.60 a month for, but I am an existing BT broadband customer.
How can I get this old BT email address linked up to my new account, and stop the £1.60 a month extra I'm having to pay?
Would appreciate if anyone knows.

Connect your new phone to your computer using the USB cable and it should appear in iTunes. If it doesn't you will need to troubleshoot. Then see: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2109

• Old Outlook files separated from current -- need to find some old saved emails

I had a computer issue and the computer guy who fixed it separated my old files into a folder he called "Windows Old" on my desktop. I can find all my old files there except I can't open any Outlook files. There's an email I saved
from Nov 2006 that I need to find and open somewhere within this folder.
I've found some outlook files in that folder, but it says I can open them only with Outlook.... but when I try to open them from within the Outlook menu, I can't find the files. And copying and pasting the location doesn't help. Please help!
Below is a copy-and-past of where I've found my outlook data file from that pariod
C:\Users\Dell1\Desktop\Windows.old\Users\Jane\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
Thanks

Hi
This issue may be occurring due to these reasons like:
If Outlook finds the .pst file on a server to deliver the email messages which is inaccessible.
If Microsoft Outlook got the PST file but it had been corrupted due to some reasons.
If you have changed the location of Outlook .pst file and did not re-locate it in Outlook.
Use one of the following methods to resolve the above mentioned issue:
Click to re-locate your Outlook PST file
Click for PST that is located on a server
Click to fix it using PST Recovery Solution

• Advice needed on move to in-house email. DNS and subdomain newbie.

Hi there.
One of my hats says IT Manager and I have a decision to make regarding about email services for a fast growing company.
At present my company uses MediaTemple to host our web and email, but are presently finding many limitations particularly in the flexibility of email accounts specific to various sub domains. An example of a feature we need (but {mt} can't provide) is separate accounts for [email protected] and [email protected] MediaTemple will only allow a single mailbox.
We desperately require this functionality which leads to my questions (as I'm easily perplexed by DNS and BIND):
1. Is it possible to modify a DNS zone file so that subdomains can exist for both our website (which will continue to be hosted with MediaTemple) and also exist locally for email on our in-house Xserve G5 running Mac OS X Server 10.4.7?
2. Does the Mail Server in 10.4 allow individual mailboxes for the same name under different subdomains.
Sorry for the dubious explanations. I barely understand the process itself, but I'm learning.
Thanks in advance,
Aaron in Australia.

The answers are yes and yes...
Managing a mail server, even on a Mac, can be complex and require a significant investment in time. If this decision is difficult, imagine trying to make ongoing config decisions, battle spammers, hackers and maintain 24/7 uptime for your users. Are you ready for that?
I would think that your current mail hosting company can host mail for a subdomain, but probably not within the same hosting account. The level 1 people you are talking with may not have a clue. You may need a hosting account for each subdomain (with user accounts in each hosting account). If this email hosting provider doesn't support subdomains, then consider others (really any should). You'll need to make some DNS adjustments, something the hosting company can direct you on.
