Need to open files made in Mainstage 2 in the older version of Mainstage.
Any suggestions? I'm working with a collaborator on a project and I have Mainstage 2, while he's still on the original Mainstage. We need a way to open the files I make on his computer, but I no longer have my installation CDs. Is there a way to convert the files without him having to buy an upgrade to the new Mainstage? Thanks!
As far as I know, the answer is No. I have also found it safer to re-build all my MS1 concerts in MS2 rather than importing them from MS1.
It doesn't cost too much to upgrade from MS1 to MS2.

I recently accepted an automatic update(January, 2014) for Pages on my MacBook Pro. I can no longer open Pages or documents created with the prior version. Any suggestions as to how to correct this problem?
Open Activity Monitor. Select All Processes instead of My Processes at the top and then reorder everything by highest CPU usage. Take a screenshot and post the image here.

Look at original question. When I did the download to the new 6.0 it said everything was fine. Then when I tried to use the firefox again it said an older version needed to shut down my computer so that it could upgrade the old version. It wont let me do anything and all it says is shut down computer so old version can upgrade. It wont let me open the program or remove it or anything. PLease help me with this. I really like Firefox but this has been going on for 5 months now and I still dont get answers from you. How do I fix this???

I cannot re-open files that have been saved in Numbers version09 - it states "You need a newer version of numbers to open this document". This is the latest version & also the one I have created/saved???

You may delete Numbers 08 if you wish, but some folks like keeping it around. Close all your Numbers docs and Quit the Numbers app, and the other Numbers app if necessary.Then click the Numbers icon on your doc. Then select Numbers > About Numbers, and in the window that pops up, see which version it is. If the Dock icon started Numbers 08, you can cure that by dragging that icon off the Dock and letting it go in a puff of virtual smoke.
Now, to put the Numbers 09 icon on the Dock, double-click one of those known Numbers 09 documents so that Numbers 09 starts up. Verify by checkig Numbers > about Numbers.
Now click and hold the Numbers Dock icon and select the Option for Keep in Dock.

Need help opening file damaged in power outage
I am a teacher using PM 7.0.2 My computer uses Windows XP. I was working on a big PM project and had just saved my work a minute before and then we got a huge power outage. Now the file will not open. I've tried opening both ways - here are the messages.

Try making a copy and moving it to a new folder. Try renaming the copy with .p65 or .pm6 extensions. If you have access to pagemaker on a mac try opening it there.
You probably know this now, but always make incremental copies of your pagemaker files, rename the file as you go along 01file.pmd, 02file.pmd, etc. Pagemaker files will corrupt, even without a power outage, and it is nice to have a previous version available.
Battery Backups and external backup drives are a good things too.

Pages is telling me that I need a newer version before I can open my document. I have the latest version and I am able to open older versions. Whats up?
You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.

I was sent a .pages doc. When I try to open it with pages I'm told "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." I have the newest version of pages on my computer. What should I do?
I wonder if you are running an OS earlier than 10.9.x? If so, you cannot run the *latest* version of Pages, which is 5.1. Apple is trying to get you to update your OS to 10.9 Mavericks and then get you to update (but defintiely not upgrade) your Pages version to 5.1. 5.1 is, in everything but name, beta software. It not only has many bugs, it also lacks more than 90 features that are present in version 4.3 ("Pages 09"). One workaround that is to open the file with Pages for icloud (this is explcitly beta) and click tools|download a copy in Word format. Pages 4.3, which is probably the version you have, can open Word documents. Get a cup of coffee or a glass of wine before starting Pages for icloud: it is s-l-o-w.

Cannot open file, Photoshop is not compatible with this version of photoshop. 2 weeks
This has been a problem for almost 2 weeks now. Cant save any work in photoshop, files are unretrievable once closed. I get the same error message. I spent all of last week online with Adobe Tech support, screen sharing conference etc, now iMac isnt working properly. AAARRFGGHH.

Last week Adobe via screen share uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop, took a few hours and still nothing. I have lost many hours work here. Cant reach Adobe and I am really pissed off. I should add that last night I tried to contact Adobe to see what the hold up was. I went and tried to open up the case file (No it had not been withdrawn and was still active), but it would not open. So, I started up a new support file with a whole new case number, I received an email this morning from Adobe saying that I would have to communicate with them through the original case #. Went to respond to this email today and the NEW case file had been withdrawn.
Yes, I have read all the user forums on this stuff for months, NO I am not using any Anti Virus stuff, No I did not upgrade my Macs at the time of the prob appearing! Thanks

There are lots of links in Apple Support Communities to the LibreOffice web site, as well as others that are legitimate open-source developers of options to buying MS Office, such as NeoOffice and OpenOffice. I have Open Office installed on one of my older Macs that can't run Office 2011 and it is rock-solid.

I posted this earlier, but now I can't find it in the forum?You could use Bridge, or depending on your operating system, use one of the codec packs that let you view PSD thumbnails in Windows Explorer. (I don't know OSX)
