Need to open old photos created in PSD

We used to have Photo Shop Deluxe in an old computer and I found a CD with family photos on it. iPhoto wouldn't open them. I really don't want to spend the money on an upgraded Photoshop for Mac so is there any other way to open these? There's only about 30 or so.

Try previes - if it will open them save them as JPEGs
or use graphic converter

although i ran GBX6 under 10.5.8, i do believe an intel processor is required. that means that the only complete solution would be a new computer, i'm afraid.
the best you could do is export each track as an audio file from GBi and drop them into your GBX project

  • Need PCD filter or converter to open old photo disc files

Is there a filter or file converter to open old files from photo CD's
Some files are PCD format and some files are PCT/Quickdraw
The PCD files can be converted with Apple Store's Best Image Converter XV but the resolutions seem low.
The QuickDraw (Some kind of Pict?) image can be opened in Preview but only exported as a pdf which in turn needs another conversion to jpg or tif.
Photoshop seems to have dropped support for both these formats.
Unfortunately I have a few hundred of these files.

Which version of mac os x are you using?
Which version of photoshop do you have?
The mac version of Photoshop cc 2014 stills opens a pict file i transferred over from mac os 9
iphoto should be able to import the pcds off the photo cd
If you don't have the original kodak photo cd, then you could use
    pcdmagic
    https://sites.google.com/site/pcdmagicsite/
    or
Graphic Converter 9, which should handle both pcd and pict
    http://www.lemkesoft.de/en/image-editing-slideshow-browser-batch-conversion-metadata-and-m ore-on-your-mac/
Also, Photoline handles both pcd and pict files

  • Need help with old photo

I've never encounted this problem, and am struggling to master PS CS5 from CS3, so any help you can give me is greatly appreciated.
I am trying to do a tile photomural of a wedding portrait from a 60 year old photo.  The photo itself (and it is the only one in existance) has a pebble-like finish, so that the light from the scanner created a random pattern of reflective spots.  Is there any tool in CS5 that will help me eliminate or minimize these?  They are most evident in the dark parts, especially hair.
I really do appreciate your help
    Marianne

This appears to be EXACTLY what I need, but I am having difficulty trying to figure out where to place the filters in CS5.  When I run the action, the dialogue tells me filter is unavailable.  Although it's a black and white picture, I am running it in RGB.  I'm a bit wary because the download did not offer a Mac filter option, it just said PC filter download. The instructions say to place the filters in "plug-ins" but that instruction was written several years ago. Do I have the right ones? Where do I place the downloaded filters now to make them available??

  • Iphoto 2014 won't open old photos

I downloaded Mavericks 10.9.2 but my iPhoto when it opens says I will lose all my old photo's and I need to quit. I dragged the app to my trash and reintalled it from the App Store, and it still does the same thing. HOW do I recover my old photos which are only on here?

Did you upgrade to iPhoto v9.5.1? If no, older versions of iPhoto will not run under Mavericks.
    iPhoto 9.5.1  $14.99
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iphoto/id408981381?mt=12
If you have upgraded, see this link for steps to rebuild your iPhoto Library. iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library
Make sure Mavericks is fully updated 10.9.4

  • Pages 5 in Mavericks no longer opens Text files?- need to open old Clarisworks files

My 90 year old uncle clung to ClarisWorks, Appleworks far too long
He still has Claris Works documents he needs to open. Some so old that even AppleWorks version  6x, the final version of AppleWorks could not open!)
In Mountain Lion, he could open the older Clarisworks- Appleworks documents in TextEdit  , save as  .TXT file and then open that file in Pages
Tonight, after installing OS 10.9  ( Mavericks)he finds this work around unrelable : Sometimes the new Pages cannot open the .TXT message
How do  I help him convert his old documents?
( he saved  names and addresses in to Claris Works documents instead of entering into his Contacts/Address Book so now he is panicky to retrieve the addresses as he starts working on his holiday greeting and gift mailings)

Will the old Pages run under Maverick?
IF so that will be something to try
Old Pages did not open up the old Clarisworks docs but Pages 09 DID respond when we changed the extension of the CW documents to "TXT".
So , Uncle can try using Pages 09
    We also can try Libre
I can install Text Wrangler- there was some advice that it will open the old CW files.
My concern is that Uncle IS 90years of age. He is remarkable using a Mac but he needs, wants everything to be straightforward and resists, cannot handle any process requiring too many steps
The need to use an intermediary translation system (CW->TXT->Pages) is stressful for him.
Such a shame that Apple did not program a translator to open the files made by its previous proprietary software (ClarisWorks and Appleworks)
    Thanks all

  • Open old photos from DVD

    Hi,
I've got old photos from iPhoto (2007 and older) saved on DVD and can't open it with the current version(11).
    Where is the problem?
    Thanks for help!

Hi this is a problem that can be fixed in theses few easy steps: you insert the DVD to you computer. Then you go to some words that say DCIM. Then highlight all of the pictures, then you can drag them into your iphoto.
Thank you for asking apple experts. <Edited by Host> thank you!

  • Cant open old photos!

I have a number of old photos from the system 7-9.x days that for some reason cannot be opened in Mountain Lion in Preview. Is there a way around this, or ws this my mistake that I made in not keeping a older OS 8.x Mac around? I also have some old palm Desktop files that I cannot open and I would like to retrview the TEXT in the documents. Anyone know of a way?

What was the file format of the photos? There might be something that can open them.
There are some online file converters, you might google for something like that and see if they can convert them to something openable.
To get the text, you might just right-click on the file and choose open with, Other...
Browse for TextEdit and see if you can retriev the text out of the file.

  • Opening old photo formats for use in PSE?

For many years before I started to use PSE I used to use both Corel Photopaint & a couple of Ulead products.  I found out yesterday that I still have the old disks.  Is it possible open these files &  convert their old presets do that they can be use in PSE?

    No.
You'll have to open the PhotoPaint CPT file in a Corel product and export the image in a format that PSE can open:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/supported-file-formats-premiere-elements.html
    OR
    The free XnView image viewer:
    http://www.xnview.com/en/index.html
can open CPT images and save them to a PSE-readable format.

  • PC Help!  PS6 Keeps opening old photos on every startup.

I have seen this discussion several times on this forum for a Mac, but not a PC.  And sadly, the mac solution does not apply to the PC.  This has been driving me nuts for over a year now.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!!

Most like they are the same. Sound like your talking CS6 not PS6 and CS6 Autosave save a file you were working and CS6 crashed.  When you start CS6 it will open the autosave file the was not saved by you.  It sound like you not closing the recovery file or saving in under some name in one of your folders. So the recovery file does not get deleted by Photoshop.  Every time Photoshop start the recovery file will be reopen. You need to locate your userid adobe Photoshop CS6 recovery folder and delete that file If Photoshop is not deleting it when you save or close out the recovery document.

  • Need help opening old Appleworks file

Hi all I have been searching the forums and seem to come up with well lets say I'm screwed,,,I am trying to help out my uncle who had a mac back in the day and had made some what appears to be some appleworks documents that I cant open, the documents are on floppies which I was able to pull some pictures off and convert them to .jpeg's but I cant open the other files,,,I have tried OpenOffice and Office for Macs but no luck,,,can anyone help with this or tell me how to do this,,I'm not real good with Macs seeing i've been only using one for 6mths ,,,,

You could use AppleWorks 6 in OS X or AppleWorks 5 in Classic to open the files. You could try eBay and do a search for "AppleWorks" or "Apple Works" (some people put a "space" in the name). Hardcore Mac sells AppleWorks 6.2.4.
If there are just a few files (less than 10), you can e-mail them to me & I will convert them (to text, Word, Excel, PDF) & send them back.

  • I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos

I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos and say that I need to upgrade my I photo to a newer version. The old mac has no more support from apple in software update so I am not sure where I should go from here. can I use new soft ware with the old mac

The other part of the upgrade message was a warning that once you upgraded you would no longer be able to open the library with the old version which is exaclty what you did and what happened when you choose to continue
The iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iphoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library. Cancel or upgrade.
So now your choices are to not use iPhoto with the previous version using it onky with the newer version, restore your backup from before you did this upgrade or purchase iPhoto Library Manager and use it to rebuild the library using the older version of iPhoto (instructions are on their web site) thereby downgrading it (without projects)

Buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store, install it, and run Software Update twice.
