Need to post 12 minute video on YouTube using Pro 7

I need to take a 12 minute video I am submitting as part of a grant proposal for an Elementary school and convert it into a size and filetype that will work on YouTube. My understanding is the video will be uploaded to a "special" youtube site, which I take it means the amount of room will be increased to support larger video files. The only guide I could find on the YouTube site told me to resize to 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio. If these are options in Pro 7, I have yet to find them. Any advice and help is welcome.

We don't know from your description (and I understand that you probably don't know either) whether this means a file like the ones YouTube plays or the ones you upload to Youtube. I think it is still true that YouTube takes whatever is sent to them and converts it. Formats supported for upload are wide ranging:

For non-HD material at least, I found that I preferred to export a wmv file, 640x480 square pixels, progressive, and to change the datarate to max the quality for the length of the video. I think I ended up using 2400-2600 for most things.
I suspect that you are running into distortion problems because you are not taking this to square pixels in an appropriate format, and/or changing too many settings.

Why am I only able to upload 10 seconds of my 12 minute video onto Youtube?

I'm using Premier Elements 10. I've uploaded videos to Youtube many times in the past with no issues. Video file size is 130M and it is 12 minutes in length. I'm doing this from the "share" tab and when I upload the video, Elements goes through the normal steps of upload, rendering, etc (although it goes much quicker than it should). When I get the completed message, I check Youtube and only 10 seconds of the video has uploaded. The last two attempts produced a "transcoder error". I also cannot burn a DVD or save the file on my hard drive. When trying to burn a DVD a message pops up "Export error - Error compiling movie. Unknown error." Any suggestions?

That usually happens, when one posts via e-mail, and a sig has been set up. Most often, the OP does not even see that sig, or they might not pick up on the potential for problems. Had I observed that, before I did a Reply, you could have made the change, but once I Replied to the post, you lost that capability. Any AF noise will likely be picked up by the mic/audio recorder. Disable AF for serious video shooting if you can't place the mic far from the camera.
TIPS FOR AUDIO RECORDING WITH EXTERNAL DEVICE connected to the camera:
This is possible thanks to the latest firmware 2.x for the 7D that allows to select Manual Audio Gain control. It's also possible in every other camera with Manual Audio Gain like 5D2, 5D3, 60D, T3i, etc.
- Disable Auto Gain Control. Select Manual Audio gain instead.
- Move the gain slider all way to the left (to zero) and then move it only one click to the right (this will enable audio gain, but to its minimum)
- Connect the mic/recording device to the camera via male to male stereo cable (usually shipped with the audio recorder) this way: "Line Out/Headphones" (in the audio recorder) to the "Mic input" (in the camera).
- Set the Audio Gain / Headphones Volume in the recorder (checking the audio levels on the LCD of your camera) to reach about -12db as average (with the sound source you will record). Avoid clipping audio, and setting it too low.
- Using this method you will get audio on your footage with LOT better quality than using the buil-in mic of the camera and the audio will be already synchronized with the video.
- If you want to record audio with the audio recorder, you can, so you will have a second audio file (called "double audio recording") of even much higher quality (if you set the recorder accordingly) that you can easily sync in post to replace the audio track recorded by the camera.
NOTES & SUGGESTIONS:
- If you use a mono Mic/Audio recorder, you will get mono audio in your footage (obviously)
- Place the external Mic/Audio recorder as near as possible to the sound source, and as far as possible from the camera. If you can't put the mic/audio recorder out of your rig, then put it as far as possible from the camera and lens (and not behind it). In this case the best position is in front but at a side.
- Good Audio recorders that have extremely versatile features are Zoom H2n and Zoom H4n. You can record audio as mentioned above with both of them using just the buil-in mics of these recorders. Just be sure to adjust them right.
- Always do some tests before shooting. Fixing bad audio is very difficult, sometimes more difficult than fixing video.
- Always use some kind of wind screen over the mic/audio recorder, otherwise you'll get noise even from a slight breeze or when moving your camera setup.

Depending on what version of iM you're using, you can directly upload from within iMovie, or you have to export first, then use YT's upload web interface ...
in case you own a licence of Quicktime Pro, open a jpg with it, open in a 2nd window your mp3, select all, copy, paste to picture - done .. no 'fullsize editor' needed.

What do I need to post online video of digital art being created?

I have yet to use my iMovie 09, so utter newbie with that program. I want to post video online of my desktop as I create a painting in Corel Painter. I see the videos of other artists who are doing this, where you view their desktop, and watch art created from start to finish. What is likely a 5 or 6 hour process is compressed into about 5 minutes, so film is very fast. It looks like it's a simple process, but I can't seem to find instructions anywhere. How can I turn an audio podcast into a video for Youtube using iMovie?

Hey there, guys.
I'm trying to turn a podcast I created in Garageband into a movie using iMovie so I can upload it to YouTube. Now, for the duration of this podcast, I simply want one picture to show on the screen. So, in other words, the cast goes for about 55 minutes, so for the entirity of these 55 minutes, I just want one picture to show. That's all. Just one picture for the duration of the cast. How can I achieve this seemingly simple task using iMovie? Your aid with this is very much appreciated.

I cannot download and convert videos from Youtube using Firefox v31 and Downloadhelper v4.9.22

This has been a problem for at least 18 months. I receive updates to Firefox and Downloadhelper as they become available and am registered so that I can use the conversion process.
I've looked through the support pages but they don't help me to fix the problem. If a fix exists I would prefer it to be a "Click this button" rather than lines and lines of revised code.
Please help, soonest would be nice.

I can confirm that as of this morning I have v4.9.23 of Downloadhelper. I have manually updated SilverLight, to 5.1.30514.0, and the red warning on the Plugins page has now gone away, I now get an Up to Date message.
I still have the Youtube problem. I have closed and restarted Firefox but have not yet done a cold boot of my computer.
I do have 5 unknown plugins that Firefox says I need to research, these are for

NPCIG.dll (this relates to a Canon image gateway)

Google Update
The .dll will have come along with software with my camera but I have not idea about the rest.
Now whether the DRM is causing the problem I don't know but I am running Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 and Windows Media Player 11. For info my PC is running a legitimate copy of Windows XP SP3.

Did you look in your downloads folder? If you are using Safari to download then look at Safari - Preferences - General and look in where it says Save downloaded files to. If you have left it to the defaults download folder you will find that under ~/downloads the ~ means your home folder. You can find that in Finder.

1. appendBytes understands FLV only by default.
2. In order to play mp4 (or any other than FLV format) you need to use appendBytesAction(NetStreamAppendBytesAction.RESET_BEGIN) so that Flash reads file correctly. This is quite a flaky proposition anyway.
3. appendBytes must be called after play(null) is called. Otherwise Flash throw an error.
Correct sequence:
     ns.play(null);
     ns.appendBytes(ba);
Incorrect sequence:
     ns.appendBytes(ba);
     ns.play(null);

Need a good flash video camera for use with my Mac...Suggestions?

I have been looking at these things for weeks, and have heard remarks about different cameras not converting over to a mac very well. There is so much noise out there about different Cameras. At this point, I think I have it narrowed down that I want one with removeable/replaceable memory cards, and an HD Model. Looking to spend not much over a grand for a basic starter kit (bag, filters, lens covers, chargers, etc) and camera with a 2 year over factory warrantee, with ample memory. I am driving Cross-country with my brother who is getting out of the military and want to be able to make use of the footage I get. I want a good camera that I can easily make work with the Mac editing programs without having to purchase a bunch of extraneous programs, etc.
Suggestions?
