Need to produce Progressive Scan DVD in Encore CS6

My source footage is progressive scan 1920x1080 30P in mp4. When I go to build the DVD my video comes out interlaced and blurry. DVD project settings default (greyed out) are set to lower field. Is there a way to change this to none (Progressive)?

You can't change it after you've transcoded it. Just pick a progressive preset.
It is true that you cannot set the default project settings to progressive, and I think this prevents getting progressive output from automatic transcodes. But the project defaults have no impact on footage you import as DVD legal or that you transcode in Encore with specific settings.

  • Why Poor DVD quality Encore CS6 with Sony FS100 MTS files from PPro CS6

I am using PPro CS6 on a MAC Pro Quad zenon with Boot Camp. On PC side I was using PPro CS6 & Encore CS6 with MTS files from  Sony NX 5U with NO Problems.
I just started using a Sony FS100 recording 1080i (60) format MTS files. When I Dynamic Link to Encore, the quality of the image is very soft compare to image from previous
projects with MTS files from Sony NX 5U.When I open a previous NX5U project, it still displays and creates an excellant dvd.Need help in solving problem.

Thanks for the advice. I tryed your method with same results.
I then tried changing project quality settings with somewhat better results
    but not good enough results.
I looked at some of my previous dvds that used mts files from my Sony NX5U
and the quality was much better
that any results I am having using the Sony FS100 mts files. Even still
pictures do not look good now in Encore.
I then tried using Roxio Creator 10 Pro to make a dvd.
The results were excellant! Video files and stills are great.
I noticed that Encore CS6 is using the "Main Concept" codec to transcode.
Has something changed in the basic
settings with my Encore and can I reset my Encore to original defaults???
Any advice would be welcomed...Thanks again.

  • No Video, only Audio when building a DVD in Encore CS6

    Hi everyone!
First post here, and I apologize if this has been somewhat covered in other posts, I couldn't seem to find any similar issues in this matter, and I pray someone here can help.
I'm new to DVD authoring, and just started using Adobe Encore CS6 over the summer. I shot a dance recital, and after following some tutorials, made an awesome DVD that was very well received.
However, my last two DVDs have not come out working properly.  I imported .m2v files from HC Encoder (DVD Compliant, max 7500kbps for safety) into Adobe Encore CS6, where the .m2v files say "Don't Transcode." They play just fine in the timelines in Encore.
When I build the DVD to either a folder, image, or disc, only audio plays for the video portions of the DVD. The only way to get the video to play is if I run the DVD through VLC. I tested in Windows Media Center (on Windows 8) as well as my PlayStaton 4, and the black picture with audio persists for each video element of the DVD.
Between making the DVD of the dance recital and the DVD today, I have gone through at least two complete system restores, if this is something that could possibly have made things go awry. If it helps to know, I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Oops, sorry!
I imported an *.m2v file along with a *.wav file, both the exact same durations and lined up correctly in the timeline.  In the project panel, for the *.m2v it says "Don't Transcode" for Status and "Don't Transcode" for Settings; for the *.wav it says, "Untranscoded" for Status and "Automatic" for settings.
That's all that Encore's telling me about the files.
Side note, interestingly enough, I went back and re-exported the DVD of the Dance Recital that I had mentioned earlier, and it plays just fine. (I'm trying to compare the two projects as best I can) It seems as if the *.m2v file that I made in HCEncoder for the recital plays just fine in Windows Media Player, however my most recent ones do not.  But they still play in Encore.  Needless to say, I'm baffled.

  • Problems burning Blu-Ray DVD with Encore CS6 Creative Cloud version

I recently installed Premiere Pro CS6 from Creative Cloud on a high performance PC. Everything works fine but Encore Blu-Ray burn will not finallize... get error message after most of disc is burned. Have tried several burns without success. Same files burn okay with Cyberlink software. Seems to be a bug with CS6 Encore files.
Have tried with Cyberlink removed from machine.... same problem.
    Any suggestions??

The error is: Blu-ray Error, "device error", Code "3", Note, "AS-StorageError = 97071
I imported one HD Blu-Ray MPG file encoded in Premiere Pro for Blu-Ray DVD about 4GB in size.  It was set-up with simple "Play menu".  It burns up to the point of finalization, then the above error message occurs.
I insstalled a second Blu-Ray burner (different brand) and attempted another burn but with same error message.  Also tried different brand of discs.
I have a second computer that I had previously loaded the trial version of Permiere Pro CS6, then later opted to do complete install via Creative Cloud.   CS6 Encore will burn a Blu-Ray disc on this system with the same file without any problem or error messages.
It seems to be a problem with the Creative Cloud installation on the first computer???

  • Encore CS6 DVD Build taking too long

    Hello,
I am trying to build the DVD from Encore CS6, I have the Creative Cloud, and it gets stuck and will not make forward progress-- it's stuck at transcoding. This has been going on for 48 hours now, and everything is clear.
Any tips, hints, or reasons why this is not working? Could I have downloaded a faulty version from Adobe Creative Cloud?
    Thank you,
    Zachary

How long are the movies? What format were they in? What power computer?
    This does seem long.
Try transcoding as a separate step before you build.

  • Encore CS6. Putting over 1 hour on a DVD

I have previously managed to put a large file onto a DVD in Encore CS6 but can't remember how. I have a project in Prem CS6 and it's about 1 hour 20 minutes long. Try as I may I only get a disc with about 1 hour 12 minutes. Clearly my Encore CS6 is set up incorrectly for this.  Can anyone guide me through the required steps. I will mention that the project has no menus or chapters.
    Many thanks. Pete

  • Problem with Encore CS6.

    Good morning everyone.
I'm mading a DVD with Encore CS6 and I've created a Custom Menu.
When I connect the Chapters to the corrispondent Button there's a strange problem.
I've done 27 Chapters, and obviously 27 Buttons, divided into 3 lines x 9 Buttons.
The first eighteen ones works perfectly, but the last nine don't.
When I run the preview, the last line of Buttons is like there wasn't present on the Menu, although the Buttons are there and they're visibible.

It's the DVD spec: a 16:9 menu only allows 18 buttons. (It is 36 for 4:3.)

  • Reposting this - bringing dvd footage into FCP - progressive scan

I occasionally have clients that need me to bring footage into their projects from a dvd or vhs. I'm looking into getting something that can do both NTSC & PAL and I've come across this product:
    Sharp DV-NC80
    6-Head Hi-Fi Stereo VHS/S-VHS VCR & DVD, CD-R, V-CD Combo Player - Multi System, Multi Zone
My only dilemma is that the dvd player does not have progressive scan. Can anyone let me know if that should matter or not and what progressive scan is for? (I read the jagged edge article, but does progressive scan affect how FCP digitizes dvd material as well?) Thank you.

Unless you are bringing the material in via a capture card, you can't take advantage of the 480p scanrate anyway...

  • Can't get Encore to produce a valid DVD image

I've got a project with about 6 menus and 7 timelines - one ~2 hour feature, and several 1-2 minute 'extras'. Menus have simple 30 second looping background videos. Nothing really special...
I've set all my videos to transcode to a custom preset I created:
    Video:
    Quality: 5
    Progressive scan
    CBR - 6mbps
    GOP: 3, 12
    Audio format: MPEG
    224kbps
I've manually transcoded all the videos (originally AVI files encoded with Microsoft DV codec from Premiere) prior to Building the DVD. No errors detected in Check Project.
When I create an ISO image of the project, Nero gives me a whole bunch of errors when burning, and results in an unreadable disc.
When I create a DVD folder (VIDEO_TS) and try opening the folder in PowerDVD, it appears to be loading the DVD for a second, but then it just stops (says 'Stop' in the corner). I click 'Play' and the same thing happens. No image whatsoever.
If I get the DVD folder and burn a disc with Nero (as opposed to burning the ISO), I still get errors and an unreadable disc.
HELP! I just created a disc a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine (a completely different project).

CSS has to be added at replication, and cannot be burned to a disc under any circumstances in a form that is playable. It will simply not work.
Non copy protected discs will use blocks of 2048 sectors, and CP discs will use 2054 sectors.
I strongly suspect that this is the main root cause of your troubles here.
To test this theory, write the folder
    i without the CSS ticked
and try again. My guess is that it will work.
I can think of another 2 possibler issues here as well:
1 - Nero. It really is garbage for DVD-Video written from folders. There is a well-known issue with the IFO & BUP files being placed too close together, resulting in an image where the player (software or set top) cannot tell there are both files present. I do not know if this has been fixed yet or is still broken. Nero is safe ONLY for burning from images.
2 - You don't mention if your project is PAL or NTSC. From the use of MPEG audio, I will hazard a guess at PAL - MPEG audio is an optional format only in NTSC, and even in PAL these days it's support is optional only & not mandatory. It never was mandatory in NTSC, so unless your disc also includes either LPCM or Dolby Stereo at least then you are out of spec too.
As it happens, there is actually a way to write a disc with the CSS flags set. It involves taking the folder, and turning it into a DDP image though, and to do this you MUST have CSS flags turned OFF in Encore and then write a folder. Launch GEAR Pro Mastering Edition, create a new DVD-Video disc, and turn CSS ON before importing the Video_TS folder. write this to a DDP image on your HDD, and then write that DDP image directly to the root of a DVD-ROM project along with the DDPID file & the CONTROL.DAT file, as well as the IMAGE.DAT file.
That should work instead of a DLT tape.
But you can completely forget using CSS flags to a folder and burning to disc - it will simply never work.
CSS is a scrambling system, royalty free, and all you do at authoring is turn on a flag that tells the replication house you wish this added. They will add the encryption as well as the keys to the final replicated disc. It cannot be done by the author.
(FWIW, it's also a complete waste of time & effort. If you really want to use CP, then a combination of Sony's ARcoSS and SecuRom for the ROM content is the way to go, IMHO.)

  • Progressive Scan mode (DVD on Sharp Aquos LCD)

I want to use the Mac Mini as a DVD player on my 32" Sharp Aquos. Does anyone know if the Mac Mini supports progressive scan mode?
Also, has anyone run into issues connecting to the 32" Sharp Aquos LCD TV?
    Thanks
    Curt

Along the lines of progressive scan vs. interlaced... I've noticed while playing video from Quicktime I can make a selection to pick which one I prefer. I've got a project that I created in iMovie and I notice that if I were to share (export) a clip using the expert settings I can chose whether it is interlaced or progressive. However, when accessing those same .mov files in iDVD I don't see any settings that indicate whether the final DVD will be interlaced or progressive. From the looks of the footage viewing it on my computer it looks like it is interlaced. How can I create a DVD with this iMovie footage that ends up displaying as progressive?
    thanks for any advice.

  • Need help with easy setup - shot in progressive scan 29.98

i decided to shot this evening in progress scan on my sony vx2100.... i have two clients that are asking for progressive scan... i've had no luck capturing the video.... not sure of the setup settings
    thanks

you right... i learned last night it is 29.98 but i also got this response from my fcp users group.
If I understand your problem correctly, you can get the footage into FCP, but it looks like ****.
That's what happens when you use "progressive" mode on a VX2100 or a PD150. It's not really a true progressive image, and was never intended for professional production use. (I have no idea what it was intended for, frankly, other than a selling point -- i.e., to claim it does "progressive" when it actually doesn't.)
which isn't good news if it's true...

  • Jittery Slo Mo: Deinterlace and Progressive Scan

Alrighty, I just finished a wedding video and the parts where I created slow motion are really jittery. The cameras I am using are 1080i. So, I've found that I should have deinterlaced. My first question is, since I've already edited everything is it ok to just right click each clip and set them to "always deinterlace" just the clip that I've cut? For example, the clip titled 107009 is about an hour long, but I've cut it up and the part of it where there is slo motion is only peice of that long clip.
My next question is, provided it's ok to just "always deinterlace" one part of a clip, do I render the whole project as "progressive scan"? I like starting off with rendering out as MPEG2-DVD and select the preset Match Source Attributes (highest quality) . But, in my mind, it seems weird to have a deinterlaced clip mixed in with interlaced clips. So, do I fix that by then changing the "Field Order" to "None: Progressive"?
Also, could I simply do just one of these things instead of both? Like, just change the field order to progressive scan instead of selecting each clip to always deinterlace?
    Thanks!

Thanks, but everything about "match source attributes" in the preset, not the check box above to the left of the preset, has been producing awesome results. This is just when I export out of premiere. Then in Encore it's transcoded I suppose to make it work on DVD, right? What's wrong with match source, what is the alternative?
I suppose "You can select Always Deinterlace for the slomo's" means I only need to select those particular clips that I've cut? Can you elaborate so I feel like I understand more what's happening. Does that result in a DVD with mixed results and effect anything?
And, as an alternative to just selecting the clips and always deinterlacing, can i simply just change the whole thing to no fields, will that fix all the slo motion clips without making them always deinterlace individually?
