Need to Re-install Safari

I accidentally erased safari from my computer.  What is an easy way to re-install this program?

You can download Safari here. You can also put your Snow Leopard DVD into the optical drive, open the Optional Installs folder, double-click on the Optional Installs package icon. You can then select Safari for a separate install.

  • Need to re-install Safari as it is infected with some popup malware badly

How do I re-install Safar to get rid of a bad malware that is creepy and starts doing popups all over the place. It highlights words on the text as links with ads.

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.
Reinstalling Safari isn't part of removing the adware.

  • Need to re-install Safari on OS X

Recently got my imac OS X and for some reason, i can't download safari. The downloads all say something to the effect that they can't be installed on this (intel) mac.
The version that came with the Mac was trashed (don't ask, that's another story altogether).
Any ideas how I can install safari again on this computer?
    Thanks in advance, Craig

    Hi Craig
you can follow the instructions here to obtain Safari from your install disks; after which you will need to download & install the appropriate 10.4.8 combo update for your mac (ppc or intel) to bring Safari up to the latest version.
Alternatively, you might want to consider this thread where I gave a link to a zipped version of Safari 2.0.4, the latest one. If you use that , be sure to place the unzipped app in your Applications folder & use Disk Utility to 'Repair Permissions' afterwards.

  • Re-install safari?

    Hi
I need to check through the cookies list to find a solution to a problem but when I go to the 'privacy' tab in preferences there is nothing there..........nil........not a sausage.
Just a grey area. Do I need to re-install safari? How do I do that?
    Thanks
    Granger

    Just a note...
I was originally trying to remove cookies to solve a problem of the BBC iPlayer not working (via Safari).
It appears that it is now working so it's cured that problem, maybe I'll post that info under a suitable title.
    So double thank you!

Of course I can't throw it away since I get a message it's part of the sytem. I can show package contents and throw those away, but evidently not a good idea!!

  • Safari 2.0.4 says I need to install Safari update 1.3.2

    I have an I-Mac G-5
I am installing H&R Block Tax Cut program. It tells me that I need to install Safari update 1.3.2 to use Tax Cut online support. Although I already have Safari 2.0.4, I tried to install Safari update 1.3.1 any way. I tried installing 1.3.1 before installing 1.3.2 and I got this message from Safari.
"You cannot install Safari Update 1.3.1 on this volume. This software requires OS X 10.3.9"
I already have OS X 10.4.8 so I don't know why it will not let me install the Safari update. Isn't the higher version number the latest version?

  • Need to install Safari 3.x on SL Server.

Can I remove Safari 4 and install Safari 3 on SL Server?
Just in case you want to know why, this is for testing web applications for compatibility with Safari 3.x

    Greetings,
You can try this, but there's no guarantee it will work:
    1. Download Pacifist and the version of Safari 3 you want to install.
    2. Quit Safari.
    3. Go to /Applications and put Safari in the Trash.
    4. Go to /Library/Receipts and put the Safari403xxxx.pkg in the Trash.
    5. Launch Pacifist and open the Safari3xx.dmg file you previously downloaded.
    6. Select the top-level package icon in the window and click on the Install button in Pacifist.
    7. If asked whether you want to update or replace certain files that already exist, choose Replace and choose to do it for all files.
    8. Quit Pacifist when done.
    9. Restart your Mac, Repair Disk Permissions, then test Safari to see if it works.

  • I installed safari 8.0.1 and now my computer is slow and will not open some pages  can i uninstall

I installed safari 8.0.1 and now my mac is really really slow and will not open some pages. Can I uninstall?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Stuck in a limbo: can't install Safari or Lion/Mountain Lion, can't access App Store

If someone would take up this challenge and attempt to solve it with me, I would appreciate it! I have troubleshooted for 2 days now to no avail.
    This is what happened:
    1) I accidentally installed Safari 6.0, even if I have Lion 10.7. which doesn't run the new version
    2) This disabled my use of Safari and my access to App Store
    3) With a combination of AppDelete + Pacifist I tried deleting all Safari files, and re-installing old Safari 5.4 from scratch.
I rebooted, repaired permissions and did a disk check.
    4) Rebooted again, tried to open the newly installed Safari, but it gives an error:
"Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
    5) At this point I thought to revert back to a previous point in Time Machine. Unfortunately all the points in Time Machine somehow showed Safari 6.0 (even a month-old points), so reverting back to an old point didn't help.
    6) I try logging into AppStore to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but I can't do that, since it needs Safari to run and I don't have a Safari anymore!
    7) Now I tried re-installing Lion from restart + cmd+R, and it asked for Apple ID to start the installation.
--> At this point I am getting desperate, as this computer was purchased second-hand, so I don't have the Apple ID used to install Lion!
    8) I try searching for Apple's official support, but obviously my warranty has expired, besides it's based in another country so they can only call cellphones from that country!
So I cannot enter App Store; reinstall Safari; reinstall Lion; or upgrade to Mountain Lion. I have no access to Apple official support. I currently work in a developing country with limited access to any MAC support.
I don't know what to try anymore!
    - How can I enter App Store without Safari?
    - How can I reinstall Lion without the original Apple ID?
    - How can I upgrade to Mountain Lion without App Store?
    I'm STUCK! Please help!!

    Anyone?
I finally managed to download the newest combo update and installed it successfully!
However Safari still doesn't open. It keeps saying the following:
Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
I also finally got access to App Store: but the download of Mountain Lion doesn't complete, because it seems to need Safari.
So I'm still stuck with the two issues:
    i) Safari doesn't work, and I can't get it to work unless I can reinstall/upgrade the OS.
ii) I can't upgrade the OS without Safari!
--- unless someone knows a way to install Lion/Mountain Lion _without_ Safari??
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Cannot install safari 4.0.3 on mac os x 10.6

hey i'm having trouble installing safari 4.0.3 so that i can use itunes 9. when i open the install package just before installation, it gives me a warning saying that i cannot install safari 4.0.3 because i need to run mac os x 10.5.8 even though i'm running snow leopard. called apple but they cannot help since my warranty expired 3 days ago. PLEASE HELP!!

    I see,
If you right-click on the Quicktime app, and choose "Get Info" check to see if it's Version 10.0 if it is, its Quicktime X.
I just checked, and the final "Gold Master" developer build of Snow Leopard was 10A432 so you are using an older build, and I really think you should get the final release - otherwise you won't be able to run Software Update in the future, and you might run into problems with your version.

  • Installed safari 5, Web Pages aren't coming and showing up

I have just installed safari 5. I have re started safari and now no web pages are showing up, Safari starts up but I am getting no web Pages, does anyone know what is going on, why this is happening? do I need to turn something off or get rid of something in my Folders of my computer?
    Can someone please help me?
Right now I am using FireFox as my Backup Browser, I don't really like to use it that much, Most of my Bookmarks are saved and stored in Safari.
    Trisha Foster.

I had the same experience - if that is any consolation!
It took a while to figure out, but as usual it was a third party component that caused this.
In my case it was an extension I had installed for Safari 4 to provide a reload button on the Toolbar. Removing it solved the problem.
Also, if you are running Glims, you need to review your settings. If you are, post back.
Post back anyway with a list of third party add-0ns you may have.

  • Trouble installing Safari 4.0.5 on OS 10.5.8

Trouble installing Safari 4.0.5 on OS 10.5.8
I downloaded an MP3 file and iTunes sad to upgrade QuickTime, which I did. Then it said to upgrade Safari to 4.0.3. I found my current OS would allow me to install 4.0.5, which I downloaded. When I tried to install Safari 4.0.5 (after agreeing to licensing)  I keep getting told I cannot install Safari 4.0.5 because I need OS 10.4.11.  This is on the Destination Selection section of installing.  But I already run 10.5.8.  Any suggestion to fix this? Thanks in advance.

I Installed Safari 1.3.2 & lost hotlink capabilities in Entourage 11.2.1.

I then downloaded from Apple both Safari 1.3.1 & 1.3.2 (because the message for 1.3.2 said you needed to have 1.3.1)
Both would have been updaters, not the full application.
You need to reinstall your original Safari from your install disks, then update from the latest update for Safari 1.3.2.
