How do you set the length of a project? Last time we tried to record a speech, the recording stopped at 1 hour and six minutes. I can't figure out why the recording stopped and we need to capture a longer event than that.
Secondly, I am recording a female voice in a large meeting room using a USB microphone. What filter (instrument) should I use?

As implied by Hangtime's FAQ, if you slow down the beats per minute, it tricks GB into extending the length of the "song." If you're recording speech, or even music that does not need to be referenced to GB's beats and measures, slowing the BPM way down dramatically increases the time allotted to the file.

You'd probably want to use some of the effects listed under Vocals or Podcasting. Because the room itself is large, when you find a relevant-looking effect, you may want to open up the Details pane on the bottom, and turn off the reverb (if there is any) in the preset. Also, you may want to open up the eq and reduce the low frequencies a bit if they aren't already reduced in the preset (low frequencies are represented on the left side of the graph) as they will be below the female's actual voice. Tweaking the effects can help tailor them to the actual track, but It's easy to overuse them. As always, let your ears be your guide!

Need help recording with two linked firepods and an outboard mixer

Well I've been using Logic for a couple of years but always stayed "in the box".
Now that I started working out of the box I encountered a strange problem. Let me explain...
Since recently I have an analog Soundcraft Ghost mixer and two firepods. I linked the two firepods (aggregate device) and recorded 16 tracks into Logic. I sent these back to the mixer through the outputs of my firepods (I used the I/O plugin on each track to get a mono output).
I made the whole mix on the mixer and now I want to record that mix back into logic (in order to have a Stereo mix ready for mastering).
I thought all I had to do was create a new stereo audio track in Logic (choose input i.e. 1-2), connect the master output from the table to input 1-2 on my firepods, set the gain on the preamps. Arm the track, hit record.
Now the problem I have is that what is recorded sounds reeeaaaally strange. It's like distorted or some kinda feedback. Bit difficult to explain. But it sure doesn't sound right at all...
Does anyone knows what the problem could be?
Could it be that with the firepods you can't use an input if you allready use it's output?

By the way, I'm working on a Macbook Pro 2,4 with osx10.5.6 and Logic Pro 8.0.2

The problem sounds like you have a feedback loop between the outputs and the input. Here's my suggestion:
1 Turn the Mixer control on the Firepods all the way to the right, to make sure the Input signal is not mixed back in to the outputs
2 Mute the stereo Input channel that you're recording on (in Logic) before you arm the Record button
3 After you have recorded your mix into Logic, disarm the Record button, un-mute and solo the channel, then play back

Hardware needed to record from two HD sources

Hi. I'm a researcher studying social interactions in children with autism. I would like to capture compressed HD video from two sources simultaneously using a mac mini and with real-time output to two monitors. The reading I've done so far indicates the new mac minis can output to two different monitors simultaneously. In addition, I have identified one piece of software that seems capable of recording and monitoring two streams at the same time (bigmugsoftware.com) but I'm open to other alternatives (i.e., does Final Cut do this?).
My bigger problem is identifying precisely what hardware will be necessary to do this. I'm imagining capturing compressed, not raw, HD video. So, video might come from a camcorder via USB or component input (not HDMI). But, the program from bigmugsoftware requires a firewire connection and I haven't been able to find even one HD camcorder with a firewire port.
There also seem to be products like the Grass Valley TwinPact100 Video Converter. But, it's not even remotely clear if two of these can work on the same computer at the same time.
Any help would be appreciated.

Why am I now waiting in queue over an hour...no...two hours for support chat?

Since this last CC desktop client update, CC decided it needed to sync all 7k+ of my files in my CC folder, crashing once in process, and creating a multitude of Acrobat Distiller errors, much as it has been doing for more than the past year. I figured I'd try to ask support chat about this. I'd also like to inquire as to whether I can expect my CC folder location to be moved from my data drive back to my system SSD on my desktop, as happened with the last CC desktop update, and if there is any way to avoid this from happening.
That was about an hour and 30 minutes ago. As I was waiting I rediscovered this thread: Adobe Support Availability Questions and Feedback . Funny, as it outlines issues with chat support and offers suggestions that could greatly lower queue times during off hours, as I'm currently experiencing, but it received zero replies. I also received zero replies in these forums to a thread I bumped asking why the Adobe Shape app is sometimes not uploading to CC and what to do when that happens. It seems at least two other people have run into the same issue. That thread was started two months ago and has so far received zero response: Adobe shape only partially uploading to the cloud I didn't start this thread, just had the same issue as the originator.
Coming up on an hour and 40 minutes now, and if I get through, I'll probably be told they cannot offer any support for troubleshooting the CC desktop app. Ironic that, seeing as I first reported very similar issues back in December of 2013, dealt with it for months, even installing logging versions of the CC software, and some issues still remain unresolved.
Yes, I'm whining. I am paying $50/month for CC, and I'm reaching the point where I'm believing support is largely non-functional. I dread contacting support at this point, whether phone or chat. It is a large time and attention sink, that much more often than not, does not seem to solve the issue(s), many times for days, weeks, months, sometimes even years. Once you do get things working... Hardware crashes or virus infections happen, so you should buy software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)

Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

Do you mean your iPhone was exposed to high temperature and now the battey life is very short? If so, take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check the battery and see if it needs to be replaced. Lithium-Ion batteries are very sensitive to high temperature so there may be damage to your battery if it got very hot.

Maybe the problem is not your MB Air......
Try these:
Make sure bluetooth is turned off if you're not using it.
Set your screen brightness to 4 bars.
See what's loading in your login items. Delete the ones you don't need.
Open Activity Monitor - under All Processes see what's using most of your CPU's resources.
Highlight the ones with the highest %CPU and hit quit process.
Remember that when Apple says that your battery should last 7 hours, they tested it just browsing the web and not have anything open in the background and screen is set at 50% brightness.

Record a 3 hour live webcast video & audio

Can QT record a webcast? If yes, how? I don't see the controls for recording. If no, then what is "the program" to use? I have been searching several discussions and programs but nothing seems to be a for sure solution unless I am recording from a camera or DVD or only want audio. I have Final Cut Express HD that I bought February 2007 and never opened but don't see that it has recording capability. I need to record video & audio of a webcast coming over the net and I only have a couple hours left to get this working.

How much hard drive space do you have???
Depending on the dimensions (xy), acquisition codec and final codec for the video your looking at some major hard drive space.
I believe Snapz Pro X uses acquisition codec and then transcodes that video to a final codec/format. IShowU is another screen capture program. It transcodes on the fly, major CPU usage. (I have both of these programs.)
This is something to should have been setup and tested a few days ago. All you need is a small hiccup during recoding and you'll end up with nothing but garbage at the end of the recording. If you recoded to your system hard drive and fill it up during recoding you could run into some problems with you system hard drive. I wouldn't advise recording to your system hard. Recoding to a USB external hard drive won't cut the mustard, to slow. You'll need something like a external 800 firewire hard drive.
Three hours of recoding won't be a easy task.

I'm new to ODI and want to know on how I could split records into two files based on a value in one of the columns in the table.
Example:
Table:
my columns are
account name country
100 USA
200 USA
300 UK
200 AUS
So from the 4 records I maintain list of countries in a lookup file and split the records into 2 different files based on values in the file...
Say I have records AUS and UK in my lookup file...
So my ODI routine should send all records with country into file1 and rest to file2.
So from above records
File1:
300 UK
200 AUS
File2:
100 USA
200 USA
Can you help me how to achieve this?

You need to have the Filter on the Source side so that we can filter records accordingly the capture the same in the File. To have a Filter . In the source data store click and drag the column outside the data store and you will have Cone shaped icon and now you can click and type the Filter.

2. Create a Filter in the Source datastore in the First Interface ( SOURCE.COLUMN = #Country_Variable)
3. Create a new Package Country File Unload
4. Call the Variable in Country_Variable in Set Mode and provide the Country (USA )
5. Next call the First Interface
6. Next call the Second Interface where the Filter condition will be ( SOURCE.COLUMN ! = #Country_Variable )
7. Now run the package .
Solution 2.
If you need a solution to handle through Filer.

In the CAC1 tCode, in the data entry profile you need to select the With clock times.
As per ur requrirement you have created the work scheudles. you assigend that work scheudle in 0007 for the employee.
While going to CAT2 tcode. there next to total colum one column is there WE there you can give the total hrs. on the basis of
works Schedule system will take that attendacne in the 2002 infotype. Then you can approve and transfer to HR through CAT4.
Then you can go and see in the 2002 infotype there you can see the start time and end time.

LabVIEW SignalExpress stops recording after 20 hours

I'm recording 8 channel voltage using SignalExpress 2010 with USB 6221 board. I have an 8-channel recording step, a 4-channel ToAscii step and another 4-channel ToAscii step. The ToAscii goes to a USB external hard drive. I've been trying to record for 72 hours straight. I've tried 3 computers with the following results:
Windows XP - 4GB- Core 2 Duo: Computer is unresponsive after 48 hours. Have to force restart
Windows XP - 4GB- Core 2 Duo. Records for 20 hours then SignalExpress stops writing to disk. The traces on SignalExpress stop changing. But the External hard drive is still spinning.
Windows 7 - SI 2009: Same as the 2nd situation except after one hour.
I need it to be stable for 72 hours.

It
seems like you are encountering a bandwidth limitation and maybe over-utilizing
the USB bus network. A good way to relieve some of the bandwidth usage is
to reduce the amount of communication/transfers on the USB network. With
that said, can you use an internal hard drive instead of a USB external drive?
Try to specify the ASCII/LVM file in a local disk instead of an external
disk. Regarding acquisition, what are the sampling rates for the analog
input channels? Sampling at a considerably fast rate will cause your
system to crash if the USB bus cannot handle offloading the information in time.
You can reduce bandwidth by reducing the sampling rate of your
acquisition. Note that the maximum transfer rate for USB 2.0 is about 480
MB/s and can fluctuate depending on various factors. I would reference
